"Dangerous" and "vicious" dog law impacts animals, owners, rescue groups, dog wardens and humane officers A new Ohio law took effect in March, aiming to deal with "dangerous" and "vicious" dogs. It was inspired by a brutal attack on an 11-year-old girl named Avery Russell while she was on a playdate, and so the law is being called "Avery's Law." Avery was so badly injured that she was put into an induced coma for one week and spent several more weeks in the hospital, coming out on the other side with disfigurement to her face. The dog owner was convicted of failing to confine her dogs, sentenced to four days in jail, and required to pay a $450 fine. On Thursday's "Sound of Ideas," we'll walk through the Ohio legislature's unanimous response to this result with the passing of "Avery's Law." The new law codifies requirements related to dogs that attack people and other animals, while also impacting the work of dog wardens, humane officers and animal rescue groups. "Sound of Ideas" coordinating producer Drew Maziasz hosts this episode, filling in for Stephanie Haney. Guests: - Ken Clarke, Executive Director, Rescue Village Animal Shelter, and Geauga County Humane Officer - Jen Book, President, Cause for Canines animal rescue group - Larry Williams, Licking County Chief Dog Warden and Southwest Director, Ohio County Dog Wardens Association "Shuffle" music podcast One of Cleveland's most beloved landmarks is coming back to life through music. In this episode of The Grow Your Occupancy Podcast, Julie Podewitz, CEO & Founder of Grow Your Occupancy, chats with Larry Williams, Senior Director of Market Strategy & Growth at Unlock Health, for a candid and highly practical conversation about what's actually working in senior living marketing today. From the very first search a prospect makes to the final move-in decision, Larry breaks down how communities can better understand and influence the modern customer journey, including how search behavior differs between prospects and their adult children, why industry jargon often misses the mark with prospects, and how local data should drive every marketing decision. The conversation goes deeper than tactics. Larry shares how to prioritize marketing investments when budgets are tight, why paid media (search, social, and programmatic) often delivers the fastest impact, and how communities can avoid the “shotgun approach” by focusing on what truly drives results. Julie and Larry also tackle one of the biggest challenges in senior living today: aligning marketing and sales. They emphasize that leads alone don't drive occupancy; conversion, follow-up, and a seamless handoff between teams are what ultimately create success. And perhaps most importantly, they highlight a powerful shift happening across the industry: authenticity is winning. Today's prospects aren't looking for perfectly polished messaging, they want real stories, real residents, and a genuine sense of community. If you're looking to sharpen your marketing strategy, improve lead quality, and ultimately drive more move-ins, this episode delivers actionable insights you can put into practice immediately.

Stijn Schmitz your host welcomes Gary Wagnar to the show. Gary Wagnar is Executive Producer of TheGoldForecast.com. In this detailed discussion about gold markets, Wagnar provides a comprehensive technical analysis of current gold trading conditions, highlighting significant market movements and potential future trajectories. Currently, gold is experiencing notable volatility, with prices dropping below $5,000 per ounce. Gary emphasizes the importance of the 50-day moving average as a critical technical indicator, noting that breaking below this level suggests a potential pivot from a bullish to a bearish market trend. He attributes the recent price decline primarily to the Federal Reserve’s decision to maintain current interest rates, which has dampened gold’s performance. Despite the short-term bearish outlook, Wagnar remains cautiously optimistic about gold’s long-term prospects. He points out that gold has still gained 16% over the past year, which is a significant performance compared to other commodities. The ongoing geopolitical conflicts and potential inflationary pressures from rising oil prices could provide future support for gold prices. Wagnar also discusses his technical analysis approach, particularly his preference for Japanese candlestick charting, which he believes offers superior visual insights into price movements compared to traditional Western bar charts. He uses Fibonacci retracement levels to identify potential support and resistance points, currently suggesting that gold could find support around $4,677 if the current downward trend continues. This interview with Michael Wallace (who was inspired by Larry Williams & Ralph Vince) brings a few things to mind. First is the absolute centrality of the role of position sizing in trading, second is the nature of ‘probabilities' in trading. They are highly related obviously. Sizing is not an afterthought; it can change everything. Presuming an ‘average win rate' is going to apply to your next 10 trades is not a wise way to proceed either. You want to be more ‘statistically minded' than that – just toss a coin 10 times, and do that 10 times, the number of heads you get in each group of 10 is going to vary wildly no doubt. Toss it 10,000 times and ‘averages will tend to show up, this is the law of large numbers, but accounts can blow up a long time before averages play out. Because... sequencing risk.SEE MY FULL WRITE UP ON POSITION SIZING: https://www.algoadvantage.io/podcast/048-michael-wallaceCourses, community & more: https://www.algoadvantage.io

Hidden gems of house music. You may not hear many of these played out very often anymore but they are nevertheless a collection of absolute dance floor weapons. Most of these tracks date between 1987 -1993 with the odd one being a more recent reflection of what house music to me is all about. Have you ever wondered what it's like behind the curtain of a Blotto Beatles recording session? This intro peels it all back for a look into how the sausage is made. We really get down to business after that as we....take an episode we recorded for Ranking the Beatles and put it up on our feed. With that, we have our usual fun as we are joined by one of our original pod pals in Jonathan Pretus of Ranking the Beatles to discuss if Tommy's impression is more Leno or Tyson, Ringo's feet, the Billy Corgan and Bill Burr brotherhood, Scotty's caricatures, the Blottos replacing Billy Joel in his MSG residency, how the Blottos sleep, lots about Crocs, lots about Garbage Pail Kids, and the Larry Williams original, Slow Down.We say it several times in the episode, but if you're headed to the Fest for Beatles Fans in New Jersey during the weekend of March 28, please make sure to come up and say hi and don't forget to swing by and see our live podcast episode with Jonathan. As always, you can find Team Blotto Beatles on Instagram (@blottobeatles) and Twitter / X (@blottobeatles), by emailing us (blottobeatles@gmail.com), or on the web (blottobeatles.com). We want to hear from you! Please also take the time to rate and review us on Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. We have a shop! Grab some merch. You can always drunk dial us at 1.857.233.9793 to share your thoughts, feedback, confessions, and concerns to be featured in an upcoming episode. Enjoying the show? Buy us a beer via the tip jar (don't forget to include a message telling us what we should drink with the money). You know we're making a list of it, see the canonical, argument-ending list of Beatles songs we are assembling here: http://www.blottobeatles.com & listen to it on Spotify here. Please remember to always enjoy Blotto Beatles responsibly.Peace and Love.Hosts: Becker and TommyGuest: Jonathan Pretus of Ranking the Beatles (rankingthebeatles.com)Executive Producer: Scotty C.Senior Director of Sonic Strategies: RBAssociate Musical Supervision: Tim Clark (@nodisassemble)IArtist-in-Residence: Colin Driscoll (@theroyal.we)
