What's up lovely Heavyists - this week on the show we are joined by our old pal Harry Rule, vocalist of the incredible UK metalcore squad God Complex to chat about their triumphant return! We get into the bands hiatus back in 2020, Harry's stint as the frontman of Blood Youth, the return of God Complex, signing to Sharptone Records and their wonderful new EP He Watches In Silence (out now everywhere you can listen to sick music) and also chat a bit about his really interesting day job as a runner/driver/tour manager and general legend of the industry. Harry is such a lovely bloke and it's always a pleasure to chat to him, hopefully you enjoy checking it out too (maybe watch the video version - it's worth it I promise) also - go catch God Complex at one of their upcoming comeback shows: https://www.bandsintown.com/a/93402-god-complex STAY HEAVY xJoin the Discord! It's full of people sharing sick heavy music all the time.
Hello, all you wonderful people. I must say, this is slowly becoming one of my favorite things to do. I love recommending bands to you all. This week's episode will discuss In Search of Solace, thrown, and Blood Youth. I did cover Blood Youth before, but the audio was corrupted, so that I will discuss them again. Since that initial episode, a lot has happened with the band, so tune in and remember to stay alternative! P.S. Shout out to Yunger for their new EP Don't Want To Lose, and I covered them in Recommending Bands Vol 3. On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Blood Youth live at Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire, UK. When describing their music, they say there's not much rules when it comes to their discography. They're not trying to mimic anyone and there's no theme to their music, they just keep it real and have some awesome riffs. The guys also talk about how they didn't even choose their own name, it was their manager who chose it!The guys talk about some of the old days of music, reminiscing about the times where you had to purchase an album based off the album cover, or you would go to a show based of a flyer. You had to be intriguing to get attention. Finally, the guys talk about the give and take of the music industry these days, with people not seeing the value in music as you can get it for free with streaming and listen to something for 10 seconds, but on the other hand, you're so much more accessible for people to explore new types of music. You can find the guys on all social media platforms under @bloodyouthuk where they're pretty active. Have you found yourself questioning why we as a social collective conform so effortlessly, what our purpose is, are we in control of our lives or simply floating through the plains of a perceived existence? Are our dreams our own construct, or the design of a different entity. These are the very questions that We Struck Gold have delved into since their last release of To Conquer A Fear // All Life Is Divine. The band has reinvented itself; immersing in the dreamlike state that they found themselves in when asking those very questions. They are the Architects of their own path. Bare witness as their truth unfolds. Visualise it, live it, perceive it. We Struck Gold release their new single ‘Done' on the 4th March 2022. The song is accompanied by a music video (Shot by Loki Films) and continues the bands new release cycle. Over the campaign, the band have already picked up coverage with Metal Injection, Total Rock Radio, Loudwire, BBC, Deezer, TIDAL, Sonic Perspectives, Dreambound, Idioteq and more. The band have built a die-hard fan base through extensive touring across the UK and have surpassed 1,200,000 streams on Spotify alone across previous releases. Following shows with Blood Youth, The Hell, Acres, RXPTRS, Borders and more the band will never give up and continue to go from strength to strength. Graham kicks off with a heartfelt apology to Adele for anything that might have caused her offence; Charles joins in to assess her ban on shuffle play for 30. Charles and Graham swap gig notes with Graham unable to accompany Charles to Leeds First Direct Arena because he had to see Yorkshire's foremost metal act, live in a brewery. Charles reflects on the still-growing live prowess of James, supported by the chipper, chunkier but still swaggering Happy Mondays. Graham gives us the news from Mojo that Mick Jagger nipped into a blues bar after Stones gig on the US leg of their latest world tour. Charles and Graham enthuse over Harrogate Theatre's pantomime, Cinderella, and finish off by sharing their experience of the latest Ridley Scott film, House Of Gucci.
This episode features a conversation with Blood Youth, from Harrogate, Yorkshire, and creators of Visions Of Another Hell, one of the best records I've heard in the metal genre in ages. In truth, I've liked everything they've brought forth – starting with their excellent 2017 debut Beyond Repair, but this - album three, out now on Rude Records - feels like a big step forward. More synth. More darkess. And a new singer, the incoming Harry Rule being passed the baton by the sadly departing Kaya Tarsus.Heads up, I was a bit under the weather when I taped this episode – and I might be saying that for the next few episodes of this here podcast – so do forgive me if I'm a bit spluttery throughout. I enjoyed my conversation with guitarist and band constant Chris Pritchard though. And if you enjoy this episode… well, why don't you rate, review and press the subscribe button, and never miss another episode? (OH GAWD, I've just noticed that I've called the new record Visions Of Hell in the episode, and not Visions Of Another Hell. I'm an idiot/ill).The James McMahon Music Podcast is a Spoook Media production. Spoook is also a record label, a promoter, a shop, a Substack - it's many things. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Setting The Tone's First live stream, Blood youth and Sertaline reviews and more Blood Youth start the reviews off this week, I was really surprised by how incredible Visons Of Another Hell is the latest offering from Blood Youth was released on the 1.10.21 and it's a belter, there are so many different vocal styles on display from clean/growls to melody/harmonies and The guitars are amazing packed with Riffs and melody. Overall, a great album a joy to listen too. Vivid is the latest offering from SERTRALINE and the last with frontwomen Lizzy who is has now left the band. This is a perfect way too say goodbye from Lizzy who delivers a great vocal display, VIVID has a diffretn feel to previous singles as the is a layer of soft keys in the background and I feel its does not quite capture the same energy, but that being said clearly this being the last single with Lizzie it was going to be slightly different, vivid is still a great track and one you should add to your playlist. check out VIVID https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRcmvmS5flY&feature=youtu.be SERTRALINE online https://open.spotify.com/album/16HbcYO75O9h8q7w4u9w8L?si=XMsw_Xp5R86dZfOw7oEe_g&dl_branch=1&nd=1 https://www.wearesertraline.com https://www.facebook.com/pg/WeAreSertraline/ https://twitter.com/wearesertraline https://www.instagram.com/sertraline_official/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA9aF2Nl9tCGO-mUitWHwUg You can find this episode and previous episodes from Setting The Tone in the below links Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/6Jj9SsrXxve44839dptihN… Apple https://podcasts.apple.com/.../setting-the-tone/id1499390718 Google https://podcasts.google.com/?q=setting+the+tone podbean https://Settingthetone2.podbean.com Thank you to our sponsor @The guitar ninja best place to become a guitar master for more information our sponsor then hit the below links https://theguitarninja.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/theguitarninja Interested in becoming a guitar ninja for half price for a limited time hit the following link http://theguitarninja.co.uk/signup/stt10

Closure. Former Blood Youth vocalist, Kaya Tarsus, is our guest on Episode 147 of Sappenin' Podcast! At Slam Dunk Festival 2021, Kaya preformed for the very last time with the UK hardcore-metal titans, before officially parting ways with the band due to a series of very personal metal health issues. For this episode, we were lucky enough to have been invited to speak with him backstage, literal moments, after stepping off stage for the final time. In this conversation, Kaya expresses his raw, honest and natural reaction to walking away from music (for the time being), we discuss everything from the thought process of leaving to how a series of life experiences got him to this moment, continuing to support the band going forward, helping them find a replacement in Harry Rule (God Complex), why their upcoming album release is his own artistic masterpiece, coping with a flood of unexpected support online, his favourite memories from the band, touring nightmares, dog poop, the time he got the seal of approval from members of Rage Against The Machine, life after music and more! This is a very unique snapshot into someones life at a very emotional time and we feel very privileged to have been trusted with an opportunity like this. We had the pleasure of interviewing Waxflower over Zoom video! Fresh from releasing a trio of standout singles that saw them conquer their debut headline shows in February 2020, including a sold-out hometown performance, Waxflower returned in June with their hard-hitting single, ‘Sixteen Floors'. Released alongside the announcement of their signing to independent European label Rude Records (Saves The Day, Gideon, Blood Youth, Sleep On It), ‘Sixteen Floors' clocked up support from international heavyweights Kerrang! and Rock Sound, as well as being named the ‘Next Big Thing' by HMV.In September, Waxflower followed up with a powerfully poignant stripped back single, ‘Getting Better', which saw their success grow both domestically and across the globe. To close out the year, the band returned with ‘Again', a taste of a new era for the Brisbane pop punk four-piece which received both domestic and international support from the likes of Happy Mag, Hysteria, triple j Unearthed, triple j, Kerrang!, and Rock Sound.Waxflower have been growing an impressive resume of supports for such a young band, having shared the stage with the likes of Between You & Me, Stand Atlantic, Sly Withers & more as well as supporting US giants Simple Plan and The Dangerous Summer.Taking reference from 2000's legends Kisschasy & Jimmy Eat World, Waxflower merge nostalgia with progressive melodies and catchy hooks to bring a genuine and unique perspective on alternative rock.We want to hear from you! Tracklist: - Bad Wolves - Killing Me Slowly; - Materia - White Walls; - Blood Youth - Spineless; - To Whom it May - Calculate; - Code Red Riot - Slide; - Deadland Ritual - Broken and Bruised; - Chunk! Oh hey, sorry for the influx of podcasts lately but there's been so much news happening we needed to be on top of it all including The Amity Affliction's brand new album Misery which is the center of attention on this week's podcast with frontman Joel Birch joining Browny on co-hosting duties. He opens up about the band's drastic new direction which sees them quite heavily bring the synth from the background of their songs and gives it a position front and centre for all to see and hear, but that doesn't mean the strong, hard-hitting lyrical content is missing, something Amity have become masters of over the years due to Joel being so open about his own battles with mental health and depression. He also discusses how the idea of the Misery Saga short film series came about (the story behind Amity's singles they've released so far) and how hard it was to cut almost two hours of storyline back to 20 mins for the music videos. Plus he sheds light on when the band will be taking this new release on the road for fans and how they're planning on making this their biggest and best tour to date. Plus there's huge news about Australia's newest Music Festival Good Things Fest which will see the likes of The Offspring, Stone Sour, Bullet For My Valentine, Babymetal and more descend upon our shores in December for an east coast tour and while we're on the subject of festivals, the latest addition of bands for UNIFY Gathering have been revealed so we'll give you all the info you need to get you keen on that one. Plus there's BRAND NEW music from Bring Me The Horizon, Beartooth, Atreyu and Blood Youth, throwbacks from Falcifer, Every Time I Die, Hand of Mercy and Love Cats (Ahren Stringer's former side project) and heaps more. #WoSUATW #JoelBirch #TheAmityAffliction #TAA #AmityAffliction #Misery #AustralianBands #MelodicHardcore #Metalcore #Beartooth #TheFever333 #Architects #EveryTimeIDue #ETID #UNIFYGathering #UNIFY2019 #Falcifer #HandOfMercy #AhrenStringer #LoveCats #Babymetal #DrownThisCity #Atreyu #BloodYouth #Pagan #Bareboens #WallOfSoundAU #MusicPodcast #Podcast
