It's no secret that we love music related documentaries. It's always interesting when the talking heads get their brains picked on an equally interesting subject. One particular doc that has gotten attention is the "Records Collecting Dust" and it's sequel. Being vinyl fanatics, it's so cool diving into some our fave artists record collections with them. These amazing docs have inspired us to do our own audio version. We share our first vinyl, some cool collectibles and a fistful of essential platters. Featuring some amazing records ranging from Sodom to The Crue to Bob Newhart (??). What are some of your faves? In our "News, Views and Tunes", we attend the 2024 Ai-Kon anime/manga con and discuss the Legend of Seth Putnam. Musically, we crank Paul Di'Anno's Warhorse, Destroyer 666, Iron Reagan, Overdrive (Swe), Steel Vengeance, Executioner (Boston) and The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black. Horns Up!

Detroit hardcore punk thrashers SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fucked Up) are pleased to unleash their video for “Amazing Waste.” The latest installment of audio/visual punishment comes by way of the band's new full-length Exile//Banishment, out TODAY via Housecore Records in North America. Captured amidst plague, governmental corruption, and widespread societal suffering, Exile//Banishment is the band's heaviest, darkest, and most unrepentantly volatile offering to date focusing on personal frustrations and the hopeless future of humanity. The record was tracked and produced by Philip “Landphil” Hall (Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse, Iron Reagan) and twin brother Josh “Hallhammer” Hall (Cannabis Corpse) at Blaze Of Torment Studios in Richmond, Virginia, mixed by Adam Shepard, and mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust). As one of the longest running podcasts (of any kind), Radioactive Metal continues to roll. Of course, only a Metal program would acknowledge episode 666 as a milestone. After 665 episodes, we are here - The Big One! To celebrate we got "the band back together" and tapped former co hort Roch to co host. We cracked open some bevies and reminisced about some of our fave memories. We go over some unique interview locales and the times we got the rock star treatment. For a "Creature Feature", it had to be an artist worthy of this position. Death Metal legends Aborted fits the bill. With a new record "Maniacult" on the racks, we spoke with vocalist Sven de Caluwe'. We discussed said album, his continued relationship with Megadeth's Dirk Verbeuren and our mutual love of all things geek! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we pay tribute to our recently fallen comrades and crank a Fistful of Metal including Aborted, Master, Metal Church, Exhumed, Heretic, Nile, Iron Reagan, Cathedral, Putrescence, Flash Out and Metal Against Coronavirus (??) So Happy Whatever to us. Horns Up and Stay Healthy! This Episode is sponsored by Trve Kvlt Coffee. Summon the coffee demons to possess yourself a cup today! Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

"Never stop learning" isn't just an old adage. It's solid advice. When the Relapse debut from Richmond bashers Terminal Bliss came across our desk, it had us scratching our heads. "Brute Err/ata" is a unique monicker. And after cranking the record we knew we had to get the band on the horn and enlighten us. Prepping for our chat, we soon discovered we were going to enjoy a lot about the band, as opposed to a quick vocabulary chat. Axeman Mike Taylor gave us all the ins and outs about this killer record, as well as discussing the vastly underrated Richmond scene. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we dispel some myths as the local punk scene opens their doors to those less fortunate during this winter cold snap. Musically, we crank said Terminal record and cool stuff from Razor, Gravesend, Iron Reagan, Bleach Everything, Socioclast, Graveripper, Ominous Ruin, and introduce Malice Divine in our "Indie Spotlight". It's always exciting when some one from the legendary Bay Area joins us. Hexx may not roll off the tip of the brain like some of their contemporaries. But they were in the thick of things going back to the glorious demo days of '83. Now in 2020, the band is showing no signs of letting up. The new album "Entangled in Sin" just hit the new release rack. So it's time to talk with axeman/mainman Dan Watson. We go over the new record, share some Bay Area goodness and finally... we found someone with something positive to say about the controversial Wild Rags (!!) Records. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we give the Horns to Necrot for all their recent Billboard success. ALTERNATIVA A ZOOM. Your three good boys sat down to talk the affairs of the day. We finally got our first taste of Verotika in an absolutely thrilling trailer. Joe recounts his experience at Power Trip's Evil Beat II and attempts to explain the metal crowds in each major city in Texas. We try to figure out how to steal textbooks and come up short. Creep of the Week: We learn, thanks to Maggie Serota's exhaustive reporting, that Sin Quirin of Ministry is fucking disgusting. The silence from his band is deafening. Elsewhere, Iron Reagan's now-former bass player lost his job, apartment, and band in short order after allegations against him became public. On a lighter note, we discuss the history of cowboy hats on metal dudes. Finally, Joe went to a pay to play show (!) and lived to tell the tale. Let's get this podcast bread, playas. This week's guest is Gatecreeper frontman Chase Mason. We discuss the band's upcoming new album, Deserted, the insane hand-drawn cover art by Brad Moore and the story behind it, his favorite tour memory with Power Trip, the bromance between Gatecreeper and Iron Reagan, and his take on pornogrind. We also talk about his love for Pauly Shore despite (or perhaps because of) not being much of a film buff, how having a short attention span is responsible for his love of music above other art forms, and his struggle to pack properly for winter touring after growing up in Arizona. Petar, Brandon, and Jozalyn discuss Jozalyn's recent tour of the midwest and her run-in with a stranger from the past, the death of horror actor Sid Haig, Rob Zombie's statement about horror and metal being a step above pornography, and James Hetfield checking himself back into rehab. Songs: Gatecreeper - “Everlasting," Gatecreeper - “From The Ashes," and Dawn of Disease - “Procession of Ghosts."

This week, kick off the New Year with some action films in Action January. Or Action Jacksonuary? I'm working on it. First up, Darryll and Desmond not seeing each other for a long time is the disease and a ridiculously drunk review of Sylvester Stallone's Cobra is the cure. Only, they spend more time talking about Rocky than Cobra. Regardless, it's fun. Finally, someone sober comes along and sticks to their guns in Tom Deja's review of a more recent example of Stallone's lesser fare: Eye See You. Kickass action tunes commence: "The Smiling Cobra" by Melvins, "Blatant Violence" by Iron Reagan, "Missed Your Eyes" by Tito and Tarantula, and "High on the Crime" by Turbonegro. Dave talks to Clint from Birmingham, Alabama horror punk/metal band Kamikaze Zombie! Kamikaze Zombie started in 2014. They are heavy crossover band from Birmingham Al, with multiple influences from hardcore, metal, and punk. All of these very different influences led them to become their own genre of heavy music with multiple styles flowing through every KZ song. Kamikaze Zombie pushes to bring "old school" back to the masses with horror movie, serial killer themed stage shows and lyrics, black metal melodies, doom/sludge/death metal breakdowns, and in your face punk /thrash aggression. Kamikaze Zombie has share the stage with Superjoint (Phil Anselmo and Jimmy Bower), Max and Igor Cavalera, Doyle, Crowbar, Raven, OverKill, Venom, Child Bite, GoatWhore, Iron Reagan, Battle Cross, Valient Thorr, Havck, Toxic Holocaust, Decapitated, Hammer Fight, Dark Sermon, Exalted, and many more. Desmond is back from vacation, and perhaps it's the fact that he's dreading work that he brought this episode to you this week: workplace horror. First, Adam, Desmond, and Jeff look at a movie where an insurance investigator goes looking for a best-selling author who has missed his deadline in their review of John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness. Then, Desmond goes solo in reviews of corporate horror stories: Bentley Little's novel The Consultant, and James Gunn and Greg McLean's film The Belko Experiment. Then, nothing tells you how much of a hard job filmmaking is than the Astron 6 film about making a movie: The Editor. Tunes include: "Workin' Man" by Hank Williams III, "In the Mouth of Madness" by John Carpenter and Jim Lang, "Grim Business" by Iron Reagan, "The Cutting Room" by Pig Destroyer, and "I Hate My Job (live)" by Butthole Surfers. Most Punk Least Punk for April 30 2017! Brand new stuff from Downtown Boys, Iron Reagan, and I even play some Manu Chao. Check it out!
Phil "Landphil" Hall is a thrash/punk/metal producer and musician. He has made his name recording and performing in such prolific bands like Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan, and Cannabis Corpse. Hailing from Richmond Virginia, Landphil's relentless work-rate when it comes to touring and producing has distinguished him from many of his peers in that he's able to duplicate success in multiple projects. Frankie Palmeri is the tenacious and contentious front-man of metalcore upstarts, Emmure. Over the years, controversy has followed Palmeri making him fodder for metal blogs and their comment sections. However, Frankie believes the checkered reputation of his younger days is behind him. He is determined to continue making progressive moves forward not just as an individual but with Emmure who he believes has now found its definitive lineup that will consistently deliver the pulverizing, archetypal sound that he has sought to attain.
This week we talk to Phil “Landphil” Hall from Iron Reagan. In addition to updates on all things Iron Reagen, Cannabis Corpse and Municipal Waste (including Iron Reagan's brand new album Crossover Ministry), he discusses what it's like to see his likeness in a claymation video, his true “Fuck The Neighbor” tales, his favorite Troma movie and touring with Six Feet Under. Meanwhile Brandon and Pete talk about James Hetfield's recent statement regarding the lack of bass on …And Justice For All, the beef between Of Mice and Men's Austin Carlisle and Trivium's Paolo Gregetto about vaccinations, Corey Taylor thinking he is qualified to write a book about politics, and the heinous black metal fan that upset Whitney Moore last week (with his version of the incident). Songs: Iron Reagan - “Fuck The Neighbors Cannabis Corpse - “Mummified in Bongwater” Municipal Waste - “The Art of Partying”
A discussion and analysis of the new record by Iron Reagan, "Crossover Ministry"
In a strange twist of fate (i.e. Dan was feeling ill on a Wednesday) we switched our recording day for Episode #31 of Beats, Beards & Brews to Thirsty Thursday. Long story short, Evan could not withstand the temptation of the Nitro Blonde Fatale (8.5% abv) from Peace Tree Brewing Co. out of Knoxville, Iowa, and proceeded to quench his thirst with more beer after that, so needless to say, he is riding a nice buzz on this pod. Once Eric and Dan are done calling Evan out, the three amigos put on their crossover thrash pants and review Iron Reagan's Crossover Ministry. The gang naturally focuses its attention on an outlier track ("Fuck the Neighbors") and discusses how Iron Reagan would actually be terrible neighbors. Drunk Evan then ponders a battle between a jelly bean fueled (?) Iron Ronald Reagan and Iron Man. It's still up for debate who would win that battle. Eric plays moderator and gets Dan away from Evan's shenanigans and the bearded duo gives its take on two beard oil scents (Rip Van Winkle and Castaway) from Florida-based Beard Booze. Finally, the Beats, Beards & Brews crew reviews Stone Ripper Pale Ale, a year-round West Coast Style Pale Ale from Stone Brewing Co.
Welcome back ! Ian is sick as hell this week so you can hear him hacking up some gross stuff. Ryan got tricked into supporting his least favorite celebrity - Jimmy Fallon( haha), Ian has Pokemon card gold, PornHub is getting into the sex education game, we discuss random porn we found in the woods as youngsters....then finally we talk about metal - new music by Iron Reagan and Life Of Agony, Wintersun returns, Archspire is playing Real Art in Tacoma, Metal Blade Records is inducted into Heavy Metal Hall of Fame, Ozzy backtracks on his claim that he's a sex addict, Black Sabbath plays their final show, Emperor releases an epic vinyl box set, Mike IX benefit show raised a buttload of cash, the Gwar B Q is cancelled because the band is working on a new album and finally METALLICA returns to Seattle !
We're back! We saved you the trouble of deleting last week's episode, because, long story short, we ended up having 7 people in a room with 3 mics and everything was completely unintelligible. But this episode is pretty solid! In fact, I highly recommend that you listen to it. We talk about new music from Iron Reagan, Migos, Less Than Jake, TSOL, SiR, Dave Hause, The Menzingers, and Neil Cicierega and we also just talk about whatever tangent stems out of talking about those albums. Fun stuff! You should hear it!

We'reeeeee baaaaack! After a couple weeks off, we're back and more heinous than ever! Kevin got a fleshlight, Ryan's band (LB!) is in the middle of recording an album, Ian now has a girlfriend (000000ooohhhhh)....In metal news - Mike IX from Eyehategod seriously needs a new liver, we listen to an orchestral version of Rage Against the Machine, Kirk Hammett wishes he had more input on the new Metallica album, is there a new Papa in Ghost (?), Ryan hates Jimmy Fallon and we listen to brand new songs by Lamb Of God, Kreator, Power Trip, Iron Reagan...

On this week’s episode, Bobby talks about his travels to Floriduhh where he gets too drunk to record a DSR podcast episode with Bob in-person. Bobby asks Bob if he’s ever seen the iconic 80’s punk movie, Dudes (1987), directed byPenelope Spheeris; Bob mentions that he and the acclaimed Decline of Western Civilization director are Facebook friends. Bobby asks Bob if he ever likes bands’ Facebook pages, prior to listening to any of their music, simply based on their ridiculous name. Bob thinks new NOFX music is not newsworthy because they’re always dropping new music. Bobby informs Bob that Fat Wreck Chords has only existed for 24 years and nobody checked to verify dates - everyone just bought the 25 year anniversary marketing ploy. Bobby gives 45 Adapters frontman Pickabar a FAT ENZO BB Allin t-shirt at the 2015 Long Island Punk Rock BBQ. Bill stevenson declares Propagandhi the best band ever. Bob declares that Fletcher Dragge is a name nazi. Bobby interviews Fraser Murderburger about doing a pre-order in lieu of a crowdfunding campaign, recording with Masked Intruder, Matt Allison (Atlas Studios), and having a million different drummers involved with The Murderburgers’ line-up during the band’s existence. Bobby says Bob should go join The Murderburgers too - since his band,PigPen, dawns masks just like the Masked Intruder fellas. Bob says he won’t be wearing a mask in his next band because it’s too hot. Bob talks about attending Underoath’s high school in Tampa, FL. Bobby accuses Bob of “lazy thievery” - not wanting to steal the new Epitaph sampler via one-track on youtube. Bob “drops the mic” on Bobby, then reads two weird definitions of the newly accepted pop culture phrase; the alternative definition of which brings this week’s episode rating from R to X for vulgarity. Bobby declares, “Darkbuster must be a great name to hear uttered in the Boston accent!” Then, Bob attempts a Boston accent but sounds more like Vinnie Barbarino from Welcome Back, Kotter. While discussing Iron Reagan’s (Bobby mispronounces name) new craft beer flavor by Stragtimes Brewery, Bob tells Bobby the tale of PigPen’s Stale Ale and Swine Wine. Bob realizes that he could never go solo because he would have to rival theBobnoxious band of Canada. Bob wonder why contests are so difficult these days, referencing New Found Glory’s music video contest, Bob says to win you have to be multi-talented. DSR could be the official podcast of FEST 14 in Gainesville - so stay tuned for that. Bob discusses his “hipster neighborhood” and having not mowed his lawn since finding out his house is to be sold. Sparklefight in the news, so Bobby reaches out to Mike Beer about a commercial they made in jest nearly 4 years ago - there’s aFacebook protest group calling for the boycott of Connie’s Ric Rac because they say the video (which is pure schtick) supports rape culture. Mike argues their side of the story, explaining why they won’t take down the video - it’s the principality of the situation. New one-man band, Distorted Signals, lives in a van down by the river, and they/he/she also records their/his/her records in said van, as well. Episode 27’s recurring themes: name nazis and bad words, which start with the letter “C”. Phil "Landphil" Hall (Cannabis Corpse, Iron Reagan, Municipal Waste) is our guest this week. The new Cannabis Corpse album is out now and features some great guest appearances from Chris Barnes and Trevor Strnad. We talk about the record, how he is able to keep three touring bands organized, and Godless tries to figure out how pot works all at the same time. Chuck and Godless also talk about the Wintersun vs. Nuclear Blast controversy and how we've all become trained to have thicker skins thanks to anonymous trash-talking on the Internet. Ex-God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle debuts in a new segment we call "Rejecting the Sickness" in which he defends some of the bands we take issue with; in this episode he tackles Godless' disdain for the band Ghost. Songs:Cannabis Corpse - "Individual Pot Patterns"Fallujah - "Carved In Stone"
