Today, Ali and Asif discuss the career of comedian Anthony Jeselnik and his special ‘Bones and All' (1:54). They discuss his early life, when they first saw him (Ali actually met him person!) and an insightful interview with Jeselnik in ‘Cracked Magazine'. They discuss Jeselnik's success as well as his admiration for Norm MacDonald.    The guys then discuss (31:31) psychopathy and antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) (NB Jeselnik does a dark character on stage, but does not have psychopathy or ASPD). Asif starts off with ASPD and discusses what it is and about how conduct disorder in childhood is related. Asif talks about how common it is and the prevalence in the prison population. Asif goes over the diagnostic criteria as well as the treatment and prognosis. Asif then briefly discusses how psychopathy is slightly different and also discusses the concept of ‘corporate psychopaths'.    The opinions expressed are those of the hosts, and do not reflect those of any other organizations. ré·su·mé [rez-oo-mey, rez-oo-mey] noun1. a summing up; summary. 2. a brief written account of personal, educational, and professional qualifications and experience, as that prepared by an applicant for a job. In Comic Reader Résumé, I use Mike's Amazing World of Comics to travel back through time via his virtual newsstand to the genesis point of my lifelong collecting of comics. From there, I can offer a “work history” of my fandom through my active purchasing of (relatively) new comic books beginning in January of 1982, when my interest in the medium went from sporadic and unformed to routine on through compulsive accumulation. To streamline the narrative and keep the subjects at least remotely contemporaneous, I will not generally be discussing what we call back issues: books bought long after their publication date. Sometimes, I will cover a book published on a given month that I picked up within a year or so that date, and I give myself an especially wide berth on this aspect in the first couple of “origins” episodes. We'll get more rigidly on point as my memories crystallize and my “hobby” spirals out of control into the defining characteristic of my life (eventually outpacing squalor and competing neuroses.) It's part personal biography, part industry history, and admittedly totally self-indulgent on my part. This episode includes Adventures of Superman #426, Alpha Flight #45, Amazing Spider-Man #286-287, Betty's Diary #6, Captain America #327-328, Classic X-Men #7, Cracked Magazine #226, D.P. 7 #5, Daredevil #241, The Demon #3, Fallen Angels #1, G.I. In this one, Cody talks to Ray Troll. He's an artist and he describes himself as a paleo-nerd. Ever since he was a kid, he's been obsessed with dinosaurs. In fact, before he even learned how to spell his own name, he learned how to spell “dinosaur.” They were also the first things he remembers drawing. He says that as a child drawing was his superpower — it endeared him to his teachers and classmates. Then, around 5th grade, he got a hold of issues of Mad Magazine and Cracked Magazine. He was immediately drawn to the offbeat, dark humor. So much so that it was forever infused into his artistic style and sensibilities. It's evident in one-liners like “Spawn Till You Die,”  “Return of the Sockeye,” and “Baitful Dead” that accompany illustrations of humans and sea life. He says he loves surrealism because it's something you can't really explain rationally. It's bizarre, almost dreamlike, and it speaks to you on a gut-level. It might be visually appealing, it might convey a message or it might be a joke. Much of Ray's art comes from a place of humor, but a lot of truth can be said in jest. Musings on deep-time and nature and culture all wrapped up in a dad joke. For him, art is about learning and cataloging — with planes when he was a kid and later with fish after he moved to Alaska in 1983. He says that drawing is about learning to see. It's about the accumulation of knowledge and wisdom that you gain throughout your lifetime.

watch the video below! listen to the podcast below! Hey there! It's me, your old pal Obnoxio the Clown. I know it's been a while but I couldn't help but crawl out of my clown hole once I heard what the Dandy Fun House had planned for this episode of their show! Not only that, but they also made the incredibly bad decision to ask ME, your old pal Obnoxio to host! They would have asked the Nebbish, but he doesn't really talk so much. Ok, by now I have to imagine about two of you are really excited but most of you are really confused, so let me bring you up to speed. I used to be the mascot for CRAZY Magazine and I'm here to tell you the story of this wacky little rag that had a pretty good run back in the 70's and 80's! So without further ado, Let's step into the Fart House! What? Oh the Fun House! Yeah that's it! Hello and welcome to the Dandy Flop House, Fun House or whatever they call it! Video Show, Podcast and Blog! I'm your old long-lost pal, Obnoxio the Clown and I'm here to tell you the story of an obnoxious humor magazine that existed from 1973 to 1983 which yours truly was honored to be the mascot for during it's final few years. But first, let me show you these crazy new t-shirts from the Dandy Fun House (did I say it right this time?) now available in the Dandy Fun SHOP! It's got a front AND a back so you don't get too cold and comes with 4 holes in it. One to crawl your body into, one to stick your head out of and two to poke yer arms through! You can find it at the Dandy Fun House website at http://www.dandyfunhouse.com or go directly to the store at http://www.dandyfunshop.com . Now back to this glorious freaking episode! Ok, CRAZY MAGAZINE! We were published by Marvel Comics believe it or not and were sort of in the vein of Mad Magazine, Cracked, Sick Magazine and National Lampoon. In the beginning back in 1953, Marvel Comics was actually called Atlas Comics and they decided to try their hand at competing with the behemoth of all novelty mags, MAD Magazine. So they published 7 issues of a comic book called CRAZY! Which skewered pop culture and included gags galore. It was a nice trial balloon, but didn't exactly take the world by storm so they shelved the idea of publishing a satire for the next TWENTY YEARS until 1973 when it was revived for the purpose of republishing some of Marvel's more wacky bits from their late-60's comic called “Not Brand Echh.” What the heck kind of a name is “NOT BRAND ECHH!?”   STAN LEE MARV WOLFMAN For some reason they decided to give the old CRAZY Magazine another crack at success and kept things rolling under the guiding hand of the Marvel man, myth and legend himself… Stan Lee along with Co-Editor Marv Wolfman. Lee wanted to go for a straight up Mad Magazine and Cracked Magazine vibe while Wolfman wanted something more along the lines of National Lampoon. They came to an agreement somewhere in the middle and this gave CRAZY its own unique flavor. Kind of like sardine ala mode! It was decided that CRAZY needed a mascot, and so kicked around ideas until they came up with a small, buggy looking guy in a floppy hat and some sort of black cape-looking trench coat thing and they called this guy “The Nebbish.” Later they gave him the more proper name of “Irving Nebbish.” This Nebbish guy served as the mascot for CRAZY Magazine for seven solid years and he did a fine job I must say. I mean, I eventually STOLE his job but no hard feelings Nebby! That's show biz! STEVE GERBER Wolfman wasn't the only editor Crazy Magazine had. A man named Steve Gerber took over editing for issues #11-14 with a desire to set the magazine apart from its competition and try to convince the readers that the creators themselves were crazy. Gerber's run as editor came to an abrupt end however when he published a very dark feature called “... And the Birds Hummed Dirges” which featured high schoolers engaged in a suicide pact.

For my latest Spotlight Interview, I had the opportunity to connect with the Portland-based artist WoodenCyclops aka Wesley James. Early on in life Wooden caught the artistic bug inspired in part by the comic art featured in Mad Magazine, Cracked Magazine, and Garbage Pail Kids, as well as by artists like Ralph Steadman and other low-brow 1970's vintage aesthetic art. He's been creating art professionally for over 20 years and started minting his digital art in 2021. We talk about the genesis of his "Tank Dog" and "Dobberman Stabbers" series before deep diving into the Stabbers which started out as a repeated meditation on confronting the question of life & death. The Stabbers themselves represent Wooden's focus on pushing forward on a specific path, testing himself and revealing new layers of himself. Stylistically each Stabber is cut from the same cloth, so to speak: dogs, sometimes Tank Dogs, are portrayed in varying phases of stabbing, that are then combined and molded into various shapes and figures. In his own words, the creation of each new Stabber, representative of Wooden himself, "Is like killing the previous version of myself off to make room for the next." Over the past five years, Stabbers have evolved into a broader canvas that allowed Wooden to re-interpret popular figures and icons in the crypto space such as pepe and Elon Musk as seen in as seen in "Feels Stabbed Man" and "Chief Dogerman Tweeter" respectively. This evolution helped unlocked the concept behind his upcoming collection "Stabber Legends" featuring re-interpretations of works by Pop Wonder (Shelter), Matt Kane (CRYPTOART MONETIZATION GENERATION), Coldie (Proof of Stake - Genesis), XCOPY (Right-click And Save As guy), and Fewocious (Moment I Fell In Love) set to drop on Nifty Gateway tomorrow April 5th at 6:30 pm ET [Link to collection page]. I hope you enjoy this Spotlight Interview, and if you vibe with Wooden and his art please check out the rest of his body of work. Links for WoodenCyclops: Twitter SuperRare Linktree

It was a long, hot ride down Route 50, much of which at the time was only two lanes. To keep me from being a typical kid and barraging my grandparents with "Are we there yet? This Garage Hour Reload pits some good old cohosts (Dirty Dave and Grizzly Chris, with host Justin Fort) against some of the Garage Hour's good old nemeses: our pal Gravedigger's '67 Impala, off-roading in Corral Canyon, drag racing at Barona, Dr. Tooth, Sasquatch, Clutch, office pranks, and Scientologists. That's right, in addition to the usual parade of cruising the bars in a 25.1C'd alcohol-huffing Impala, Jeeper death, PT Cruiser death, Amon Tobin, Five Horse Johnson and Mogs, the Garage Hour goons tackle the latest list of the Church of Strange Alienology's ongoing members and pending suckers (courtesy of Cracked Magazine), and you WILL be surprised by whom we discovered.  Or possibly not.
