Wide ranging conversation with Eric Winer, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Managing Director at Pagoda. What makes this podcast special is that it was recorded just a few days after the announcement of several spinouts and the rest of Pagoda sunsetting came out. Which sets the scene for a very honest and insightful Eric. Some of the topics we cover and personal highlights:- Eric has been very early and led massive growth at Gemini and Nifty Gateway. Common thread: taking familiar user experiences, implementing high standards of delivery and excellence to bring web3 to the masses. - The ways in which working for a hedge fund are different from building products; money as end goal cf. a real user as end-goal, how this influences team formation (skills and view-point diversity). Finally, we also touched on challenges of Product in an Engineering focused organisation (following up on our previous conversation with Alex Chiocchi, former head of Product at Pagoda. - Raw, honest assessment of factors that lead to Pagoda dissolution: expensive organisation, on competitiveness and sustainability of NEAR ecosystem of third party providers, founder led organisations and the advantages of smaller, focused teams as startups over larger well funded organisations.- A breakdown of a lot of Pagoda's services: what they do, importance, challenges going into the future, and opportunities for new providers. There is A LOT more, including a lot said between the lines. We hope this conversation is well received by all stakeholders involved and that it may be useful in addressing some of the outstanding matters in the best way possible. Mike Winkelmann, AKA Beeple, is a legendary digital artist, graphic designer, and animator known for selling NFTs. Beeple made history in 2020 with a sale at Christie's of his multi-year long project known as Everydays, for an eye popping 69 million dollars. Following that, he started selling his NFTs on Nifty Gateway and amassed a huge following of fans and a hardcore group of holders. Earlier this year, Beeple opened a 50,000 square foot digital art studio, experiential space, and museum of his body of work, located in his hometown of Charleston, SC. He has become a central figure in the ever-evolving digital art and crypto art movement. Beeple engages with millions of people on Twitter and Instagram daily, as he continues to produce a completed artwork every single day. Here is an interview I did with Beeple at his studio in Charleston, and below is a link to his website. Enjoy!beeple-crap.com
In this episode, I interview Ashley Ramos. Ashley is the founder of C8W3, former Head of Partnerships at Gemini's Nifty Gateway, indicted Forbes Business Council and has a casual spread in Harper Bazaar Vietnam. Ashley and I discuss her work at Nifty Gateway and transition into becoming a founder of a web3 consulting agency. Her experience shows a track record of successfully impacting business growth from working with high profile A-list clients. Ashley has significant unique insight on brand growth in the web3 space that made for a powerful and exceptionally Glittery conversation.
Ahead of his upcoming Nifty Gateway drop, I had the pleasure of sitting down to record a very chill chat with the digital artist Alimo. Alimo has a lovely post-pop nature-themed drawing style that makes his work instantly recognizable. If you ever shopped at Patagonia, Apple, Nike, Volcom, among other places, chances are high that you've seen Alimo's work before. Over the course of our chat, we talk about Alimo's artistic journey that emerged early on alongside a passion for outdoor sports, most notably skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing, that took a gnarly detour at university where he initially majored in business(!) before switching to digital arts. After graduation, Alimo traveled the world before finding his way into agency life during a spontaneous trip to Saigon which ultimately took him to San Diego and San Francisco where his Alimo artist persona really grew roots. We dive into how Alimo found crypto & NFTs, how he met Bryan Brinkman, and of course dive into all the details around his upcoming drop on Nifty Gateway titled "Summer Time." "Summer Time" by Alimo will go live on Nifty Gateway Thursday, May 25th at 6:30 pm ET. You can preview the collection and set a drop alert HERE. Links for Alimo: Twitter Website
Matthew & Rizzle do a little shitting on parades and stirring of pots on this week's episode of MARS. A non-trivial number of projects continue to innovate and push the envelope on what's possible in NFT Land amidst the current storm of $hitcoins and $memecoins, like Async.Art and their latest innovation: dynamic blueprints. That's great. That is exciting. For folks who've been in the space, we need this continued innovation. But most innovation is on-chain, and in times like these when gas prices are soaring, doing anything on-chain is prohibitively expensive for anyone new or looking to enter the space. That's not great. That sucks, straight up. Cue The Oath, a collaboration between Trevor Jones x Apollo Entertainment x Evening Standard that went live last week on Nifty Gateway that was claimed, for free, by 20,200 collectors and saw 12k+ new NG account sign ups, including many, many first time NFT collectors, some of whom have already engaged in collecting paid NFT releases. The space needs more friction-less on-boarding ports for new participants to enter. On top of on-boarding, it's also essential to keep crypto writ large a place that's as welcoming and hospitable to the subversive, fringe and weird elements of society as it is to the mega-consumer corporate players. The latter are important for mass-adoption, but the former are essential to keep this place a desirable destination for subsequent generations that create that new-new that excites culture. Ahead of her upcoming genesis Nifty Gateway drop, I had the great fortune to grab some time and chat with the powerhouse young artist who goes by the artist name JisuArtist. Jisu has been blazing an exciting path for her art that marries the anime aesthetic with fine art flourishes. While still incredibly young, Jisu has already lived an amazingly unique and exciting career at the intersection of gaming and content creation prior to her entrance into the sphere of fine digital art and NFTs. We unpack A LOT over the course of our conversation beginning with her genesis story of finding the passion to create art as a child and the influence anime and manga, particular in print form, had on her as well as the impact that DeviantArt and the digital artists there had on her creative journey. Her experience as an influencer in competitive gaming and streaming gave us a lot to talk about. Jisu recounts myriad lessons learned and best practices from those non-art sectors as they relate to cryptoart and NFTs and she also talks about how NFTs have helped give her the freedom to focus exclusively on her art far away from the pressure to become a "commodified artist" that existed in the social influencer gaming space. Finally, we dive deep into the concept behind "The Fates," her upcoming collection on Nifty Gateway. It's at once both a deeply personal collection that represents her own lived struggles and triumphs as well as universal, since it both incorporates and also speaks to the double-edged promises and threats tied into new tech like AI. "The Fates" by Jisu will go live on Nifty Gateway Monday, May 5th at 6:30 pm ET. You can preview the collection and set a drop alert by going HERE. Links for JisuArtist: Twitter Linktree
It's officially $hitcoin szn (again) in crypto land. Matthew and Rizzle kick the show off talking about all the buzz around $PEPE before veering into far more interesting pastures talking about the ai-assisted twitter performance art that the Australia-based artist Rhett aka Mankind is engaging in with his $TURBO experiment. Also, folks looking for something fun and free, make sure you go claim your free edition of 'The Oath' by Trevor Jones on Nifty Gateway. Trevor Jones is one of the world's most successful cryptoartists, with works like Bitcoin Angel selling for around $3 million. To mark the coronation of Charles III, he's teamed up with the Evening Standard to give away an original work for free. In this episode we talk about: Why NFTs are still a thing and he's 'busier than ever'How the crypto crash of 2022, "cleared out the crap" and stabilised the marketHow the people collecting NFTs has changed from 'bored ape mask-wearing' types Why he explored tech as a way of selling art and how he created a market for something no-one had heard ofHis battle against depression when he was a struggling artists and what it's like to be one work is worth millionsWhy he's giving away an original work, The Oath, for free to commemorate the coronation of Charles III 'The Oath' will be available on Nifty Gateway between May 4th and 7th. Unlike many other NFTs, which are typically purchased using crypto-currency, readers can own this one with only an email address. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
For my latest Spotlight Interview, I had the opportunity to connect with the Portland-based artist WoodenCyclops aka Wesley James. Early on in life Wooden caught the artistic bug inspired in part by the comic art featured in Mad Magazine, Cracked Magazine, and Garbage Pail Kids, as well as by artists like Ralph Steadman and other low-brow 1970's vintage aesthetic art. He's been creating art professionally for over 20 years and started minting his digital art in 2021. We talk about the genesis of his "Tank Dog" and "Dobberman Stabbers" series before deep diving into the Stabbers which started out as a repeated meditation on confronting the question of life & death. The Stabbers themselves represent Wooden's focus on pushing forward on a specific path, testing himself and revealing new layers of himself. Stylistically each Stabber is cut from the same cloth, so to speak: dogs, sometimes Tank Dogs, are portrayed in varying phases of stabbing, that are then combined and molded into various shapes and figures. In his own words, the creation of each new Stabber, representative of Wooden himself, "Is like killing the previous version of myself off to make room for the next." Over the past five years, Stabbers have evolved into a broader canvas that allowed Wooden to re-interpret popular figures and icons in the crypto space such as pepe and Elon Musk as seen in as seen in "Feels Stabbed Man" and "Chief Dogerman Tweeter" respectively. This evolution helped unlocked the concept behind his upcoming collection "Stabber Legends" featuring re-interpretations of works by Pop Wonder (Shelter), Matt Kane (CRYPTOART MONETIZATION GENERATION), Coldie (Proof of Stake - Genesis), XCOPY (Right-click And Save As guy), and Fewocious (Moment I Fell In Love) set to drop on Nifty Gateway tomorrow April 5th at 6:30 pm ET [Link to collection page]. I hope you enjoy this Spotlight Interview, and if you vibe with Wooden and his art please check out the rest of his body of work. Links for WoodenCyclops: Twitter SuperRare Linktree
On this installment of the Spotlight Interview series, I had the great pleasure to speak with the German digital artist Stefan Große Halbuer. Stefan has a drop coming up this Thursday, March 30th (2023) on Nifty Gateway [link to the collection page] so we of course discuss the three new isometric artworks featured in that collection, but we also focus on Stefan's creative genesis including the direct impact of Franco-Belgian comics like Asterix on his early artistic development and indirect influence of Japanese art & culture, in addition to discussing the series of events and influences of artists like Mad Dog Jones and Victor Mosquera that led to Stephan's genesis NFT mint back in 2021, before wrapping up talking about how Stefan likes to balance commercial work and his own personal art practice while curating a list of some amazing commercial clients like Adidas, KIA, Lufthansa, and Sony Music, among others. We discuss: Opensea vs Blur battling is good or bad for the NFT space What does a web 3.0 business model look like without zero secondary royalties Why does Opensea believe all NFT projects are the same What other marketplaces are doing? What does this mean for NFT art marketplaces such as Known Origin, Foundation, SuperRare and Nifty Gateway. We talk music NFTs and Web3 with Cooopahtroopa and Blockchain Brett. A music NFT is a unique digital asset that lives on the blockchain, and can be bought and sold. Where a regular NFT is typically just a visual asset, a music NFT has a musical component as well as a visual one. The investor role is one that typically belongs to record labels, which historically has led to deals that often do not favor the artist.Music NFTs can be bought and sold on websites such as Opensea or Nifty Gateway. New sites like Catalog and Sound XYZ, are marketplaces solely for a special kind of music NFT called an LDA, or limited digital asset. The goal of an LDA is to allow artists to share royalty rights with their fans, choosing a percentage of their choice, and encouraging rights holders to share and remix the music that they own.

One of the biggest mistakes I see happening in Web 3 happens when it's exposed or becomes apparent that the NFT project or Metaverse or DAO wasn't built to leverage web 3 instead, they were just moving a web two problem or solution and slapping web 3.0 on top of that. This is hard to see in NFT projects until they've been forced to innovate or adapt to a crisis as its at those times that the true colors shine thru as our ability to pivot within web 3.0 requires particular architecture and adaptability that wouldn't work with a web 2 brand or business. I believe this is most obvious when you see that a project or the founder or even the community has pushed themselves to the point of NO RETURN. In this episode, I break down the point of no return, how to avoid it as NFT project founders, and more importantly, how to make changes to our definition of success so the point of no return isn't ever an option. I believe that's what we've done with this NFT podcast and MInt 365 and the direct result of why we sold out our first AINFT drop on Nifty Gateway this week. Next Ai Art drop will be #3 & #4 that will go live on Nifty Gateway at 11:11am EST on Friday October 7th you can follow the storefront and create your Nifty Gateway accounts here: https://www.niftygateway.com/marketplace/collection/0x781db4296a5e9e07f869dc3a5ebca9ed0da30bde ______________________________________________________________ Learn more about the NFT365 Podcast

The concept of alpha groups made a lot of sense a year ago as finding that group of people to share information about upcoming drops and NFT project drops before it was made public was exciting and a huge advantage during the bull market. But one thing the bear market has exposed is the fact that no matter how early or "alpha" the info is that you have you must trust and be aligned with that person giving you that information or you will be the one holding the bag in the end! But this episode isn't about FUD'n Alpha Groups rather Fanzo focuses on what this space needs and how the current play by Nifty Gateway is one of the many examples that to move from a web 2.0 mindset of too much gatekeeping to a web 3.0 world where we are able to amplify and celebrate the good and cut through the noise we must embrace and empower groups of curators that are trusted within the NFT space. More information about the Nifty Gateway project can be found here including Fanzo's new storefront which you'll hear more about in future episodes. https://www.niftygateway.com/publisher/fanzo Those we must EMBRACE, EMPOWER and put our MONEY behind are the CURATORS of content, education, projects, and artists that are trusted based on their track record, transparency, and commitment to building this web 3.0 culture the right way. How are you looking to invest in curators that have inspired and motivated your NFT journey? Love to hear more as you can share using the hashtag #NFT365 on twitter and instagram. ______________________________________________________________ Want to jump into Web3 and NFTs, but aren't sure where to begin or who to trust?
