After Andrew delayed us with his stupid birthday and anniversary, Presley had the audacity to forget to edit the audio for a week. So now the City is on Fire while everyone is up in arms waiting for this latest episode. All our Links: https://linktr.ee/seasononepodSeason Spoiler Synopsis: City on Fire is an Apple TV+ American crime drama, based on the novel of the same name. Based in 2004 New York City, City on Fire follows Charlie (Wyatt Oleff), detectives, and the Hamilton Sweeney family after Sam (Chase Sui Wonders) is shot in Central park on July 4th. An underground music scene, a wealthy real estate family, and mysterious city-wide fires are all connected by Sam, who is friends with a band in the underground music scene and had an affair with the husband of a Hamilton Sweeney. Charlie gets swept up in rebellion against gentrification in New York City, while Regan (Jemima Kirkle) and Will (Nico Tortorella) Hamilton Sweeney fight to save their company from an outsider pulling strings to steal the company away from their family. Charlie makes friends with Sam's friends--the band Ex Post Facto. The band is lead by pyromaniac Nicky Chaos (Max Milner) and is responsible for the many fires and bombings that take down many buildings around New York. Amory Gould (John Cameron Mitchell) is plotting to take over the real estate empire by any means necessary and has resorted to funding Nicky and friend's lifestyle and hiring them to burn buildings in the neighborhood to purchase buildings at a lower cost meanwhile framing Bill Hamilton Sweeney for financial crimes. Detectives diligently search for answers as Sam hangs on by a thread in critical care, ultimately discovering Amory is at the head of the takeover. Charlie diffuses a bomb to save a city block in New York City, finds that the culprits of the shooting are Sewer Girl (Alexandra Doke) and Sol (Alexander Pineiro), and rushes to Sam in the hospital during a city wide blackout to find her awake at the end of the series.
Welcome back to THE IAS COMPANION. Follow us on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@IASCompanion. Today, we will explore an essential research method in psychology called the Ex Post Facto method. Also known as the "after the fact" or "retrospective" method, this approach is employed when manipulating variables is impractical, unethical, or impossible. Instead of controlling variables, researchers observe and analyze the effects of variables that have already occurred. This method examines pre-existing conditions or events to investigate cause-and-effect relationships when random assignment is not feasible. #UPSC #IASprep #civilserviceexam #IASexamination #IASaspirants #UPSCjourney #IASexam #civilservice #IASgoals #UPSC2024 #IAS2024 #civilservant #IAScoaching #aUPSCmotivation #IASmotivation #UPSCpreparation #IASpreparation #UPSCguide #IASguide #UPSCtips #IAStips #UPSCbooks #IASbooks #UPSCexamstrategy #IASexamstrategy #UPSCmentorship #IASmentorship #UPSCcommunity #IAScommunity #UPSCpreparation #IASpreparation #UPSCguide #IASguide #UPSCtips #IAStips #UPSCbooks #IASbooks #UPSCexamstrategy #IASexamstrategy #UPSCmentorship #IASmentorship #UPSCcommunity #IAScommunity

Greg Brewer - Brewer-Clifton, Datom, and Ex Post facto This episode features Greg Brewer, founder and winemaker at Brewer-Clifton, which is a winery in Santa Barbara producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our conversation runs the gamut from Greg's background, his experience working with grapes from Santa Rita Hills, harvest and processing logistics, my jealousy for Santa Rita's huge picking window, DIAM corks, Greg's stainless bin fermentors, his philosophy in sourcing a block for vineyard designated wines before planting vines, how little analytical data plays into his winemaking, the stainless Chardonnay brand Diatom, and Syrah for Ex Post Facto. Brewer-Clifton - Santa Rita Hills Diatom Chardonnay - Santa Barbara County Ex Post Facto - Santa Barbara County This podcast is sponsored by Flextank For nearly 20 years, winemakers in the United States and Europe have used Flextanks to make world-class wines. Flextanks have many uses in a winery including the maturation of wines. They breathe like a barrel with precise and consistent linear micro-oxygenation to your wines. The Flextank system uses its proprietary Flexstaves line of staves which are sourced from premier French and American cooperages to age both red and white wines. Today's technologies are playing a bigger and bigger role in wineries these days. Flextanks have a long track record of replacing traditional wood oak barrels with a revolutionary breathable polymer that is scientifically engineered to achieve Oxygen Transfer Rates similar to your choice of either a 2-year or neutral barrel. Independent scientific studies and trials have validated this technology. Unlike a barrel, however, the molecules you want to retain- like ethanol and water- do not escape the Flextank wall, which means these tanks do not lose the Angel's share as with barrels…this means less topping is needed. Not only do Flextanks breathe like a barrel, but they are also unbelievably simple to clean- reducing water and labor costs- and are designed in a variety of sizes and profiles to make more efficient space use in any cellar. Flextanks are built here in the United States and come with a free lifetime warranty. To learn more about how you can modernize your winery and lower your barreling costs, simply go to Flextank.com. Discover how the Flextank system with Flexstaves is today's new way to make award-winning wines. Cal Crucis joins Andrew today to discuss Cal's article "My Kingdom is Not of This World: A Critique of Cardinal Newman's Development of Doctrine" from The North American Anglican. We get into the Tractarian, Ritualist, and Anglo-Catholic movements that caused a tectonic shift in Anglicanism, and the role Newman played in this shift. Cal presents Newman on Newman's own terms and then gets into what some of the problems he sees in his theory. This week, we're joined by Star Trek's science advisor Dr Erin Macdonald (@Drerinmac) to talk about Voyager's "Ex Post Facto", in which Paris is accused of a murder he didn't commit and is then forced to rewatch the murder every fourteen hours, which sucks. You can't always rely on the past in "Voyager" this week. First up, a seeming chance to get home is revealed only to be a chance to get a message home, until some science-fiction nonsense reveals that time might be an issue in "Eye of the Needle". After that, recollections are thrown into question, as is the talent of whoever designed this week's aliens in "Ex Post Facto". Also this week: Boston Vulcans, an absolutely idiotic conclusion, and trailers! Tom Paris is convicted of murder… but will this episode be convicted of being trash? Voyager's homage to film noir thrillers spits tropes faster than Dixon Hill's tommy gun spits hot lead, but it might not be enough to fend off a harsh verdict at the hands of Judge Later's space court! Also: Kim adds “judgmental tattletale” to his already-impressive resume of character flaws. Delta Quadrant dogs look an awful lot like Alpha Quadrant dogs and the Voices from the Past don't like it one bit. The Voyager writers room tries to write sexy, and the audience pays the price. Is “Ex Post Facto” good…or is it garbage?
