Notes: Gitanjali Jain pours heartbreak, tension, anger, confusion all into this prayer for peace, which has some of the scrunchiest harmonies we've ever done on A Breath of Song. And although you could call these stacked harmonies, I decided to call them melodies -- because it's not clear to me that there's a single melodic voice -- to me it is the voice of many combined. Feel the frustration of the sounds hitting against each other; all those wishes we carry for peace, love and ease. Then notice how you feel after you've sung it... is there connection to Gitu, to me, to others feeling all the complexity of our beloved world? Songwriter Info: Gitanjali Jain is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in music and theater. Born in Mexico City to her Mexican mother and East Indian father, she has focused a significant part of her work on the study of her ancestry and lineage. Lynn Gitu is a program manager at the nonprofit IMPACT. They help decrease conflicts around natural resources in Africa and enable communities to benefit more from their local resources – rather than them getting stolen, for example, by armed militias. According to IMPACT research, Gitu says artisanal mining – or small-scale mining – accounts for about 90% of the minerals produced on the continent. And approximately 30% of artisanal miners in Africa are women. Gitu asserts that mining is much more profitable than other fields for women on the continent. She explains, “Our research with women directly has shown us that when they are supported, they often earn 300 times more from the mining sector than from any other sector.” However, if women are not supported well, they reap much less of the rewards. On today's episode of the Hidden Economics of Remarkable Women, reporter Leah Kahunde visits women artisanal stone miners in Uganda, as well as male allies helping these women advance in the industry. Then, host Reena Ninan picks up her conversation with Lynn Gitu, an IMPACT program leader in Uganda. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Part 1: We took a temporary break from our summer rerun season to bring our dear listeners breaking news, of a sort, from the real world: we reached friend of the show Gitu Cycowics hours after her meeting with President Biden at Yad Vashem to get her first impressions. Gitu -- a/k/a Giselle (Gita) Cycowicz (née Friedman) -- who was born in 1927 in the town of Chust in the Carpathian Mountains, then part of Czechoslovakia, survived Auschwitz and other camps, later starting a new life in the USA, and eventually getting her PhD in psychology. In her later years, she moved to Israel and then worked for decades for AMCHA (https://amcha.org), helping with the psychological needs of her fellow survivors. Today (Weds., Jul. 13, 2022) she was one of two Holocaust survivors invited to meet President Joseph Biden at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. We are thankful for sharing with us her first impressions of that experience hours after it took place. Here is a YouTube from the live stream of Gitu meeting Biden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q96DZT4qMXs&t=731s Here is Gitu's page at Yad Vashem: https://www.yadvashem.org/blog/i-have-to-tell-my-story-giselle-cycowicz.html Part 2: We continue our summer rerun season with an interview of Diego Rotman, interviewed by Sholem Beinfeld, discussing the famed Yiddish actors and comics Shimon Dzigan and Yisroel Schumacher. Mungkin waktu kecil dulu kita sering lari2an di taman, maen bola, sepeda, skateboard atw keasikan maen game di kamar seharian..sampe2 orng tua kita sering manggil2, nyusulin, bahkan sampe ngejar2 nyuruh kita untuk "break" tdr dulu atw makan dlu atw mandi, ngerjain PR dll...itu semua dilakuin untuk kebaikan kita, cuman kitanya aja yg msh sering bandel & blom dewasa dlm menentukan prioritas... Gitu jg pas kita udah mulai remaja / dewasa...waktu lg asik hang out di mall, nonton konser musik, touring motor, maenin hobi bmx, skate, dll...sering kali aktifitas kita itu ber-pas'pasan sama waktunya "break", gmn nyikapin nya biar prioritas ttp kejaga... insyaAllah mlm ini tengku @hanan_attaki bakal bahas seputar "break", gmn orang2 dulu bisa jd "juara" krn cerdas nentuin prioritas di waktu break nya...moga kita semua bisa ngambil pelajaran dr kisah2 hebat mereka...insyaAllah bermanfaat
mungkin temen2 msh inget salah satu kisah sinetron jadul yg judulnya : Putri Yang Tertukar..dmn sinetron itu nyeritain repotnya hidup @nikitawillyofficial94 gara2 dia ketuker sama orng lain... Gitu jg dlm berdoa, bisa repot klo ketuker, ataupun klo kurang tepat cara nge-doa nya..,nanti kita bisa evaluasi : apa doa minta rejeki kita udah sesuai ? apa doa pengen umroh kita udah bener ? apa doa minta jodoh kita udah tepat ? jangan2 selama ini kita masiiih aja ngejomblo itu krn faktor kurang faham nya kita akan cara berdoa...atw krn sering ketuker waktu manggil nama pasangan..ups

Awalan nikah sikap pasangan kita romantis bgt..

Initially only seen under his fathers, Big Puns, light Chris Rivers has managed to outwork most artists his age and create a name for himself which stands alone. On his latest project G.I.T.U Chris Rivers manages to explore many different sounds that may have caught some of his fans off guard in a good way. Chris mentions that GITU is the “The most complete project” he has put out so far and also discusses with us his disappointments of his Delorean project in which he felt that he was “the worst rapper on his own project” This leads to a conversation discussing his time off of making music for a while, and the new mind set which led to this excellent new project G.I.T.U. which not only has tracks that everyone can vibe to, but the videos that go along with the project are entertaining and enrapturing as well. During the 1950s in Kenya, rebels known as the Mau Mau were fighting a bitter battle against colonial rule. Thousands of rebels were taken captive and interned in camps. Many of the prisoners suffered beatings and torture at the hands of the British authorities. Louise Hidalgo has spoken to a former Mau Mau rebel, Gitu wa Kahengeri, about his internment and about the day the Mau Mau leader, Dedan Kimathi was caught.Photo:Gitu wa Kahangeri in Kenya in 2016.
