bengreenfieldfitness.com/earthingpodcast I recently read the book Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever! (and my twin boys also watched the accompanying documentary "THE EARTHING MOVIE"). Although I already knew about the importance of having an intimate connection with the planet we live upon, this book blew my mind when it comes to identifying one of the best solutions for chronic inflammation, better sleep, enhanced deep sleep, and much more. Since reading it, I've been traveling everywhere with my grounding sleeping mat, wearing my Earth runners every day, and my boys have barely even touched their shoes. In the book, author Clint Ober introduces the planet's powerful, amazing, and overlooked natural healing energy and how people anywhere can readily connect to it. This never-before-told story—filled with fascinating research and real-life testimonials—chronicles a discovery with the potential to create a global health revolution. So obviously, I had to get Clint on the show! Clint Ober is the innovator behind the Grounding Movement & CEO of Earth FX Inc., a research and development company located in Palm Springs, California. A series of seemingly unrelated synchronistic events dating back to his early childhood led to a groundbreaking discovery that’s being recognized as the greatest health discovery of all time. Grounding has now become a massive international movement—causing people to shed their shoes and reconnect electrically to the surface of the Earth. Clint first learned about grounding when installing cable TV systems in Billings, Montana in the early 1960s. A decade later, he formed Telecrafter Corporation and built it into the largest provider of cable installation services in the United States. This company specialized in the proper grounding of cable installations for safety and TV signal stability. In the 1980s, he turned his attention to the developing computer industry and partnered with McGraw-Hill to distribute live digital news services, via cable, to PCs. This led to the development of the first cable modem and an increased awareness of the need for proper system grounding. Following a health challenge in 1995, Clint retired and embarked on a personal journey looking for a higher purpose in life. During his travels, he noticed people wearing plastic and rubber-soled shoes that insulate the body from Earth. He wondered if no longer being naturally grounded could affect us. The question led to an experiment that suggested grounding alone reduced chronic pain and improved sleep. Thereafter, he developed a working hypothesis: Grounding the human body to the Earth normalizes the functioning of all of the body’s systems — the body utilizes the earth’s electrical potential and free electrons to maintain its internal electrical stability, normalizing all of its self-regulating and self-healing systems. Over the past twenty years, he has supported over 20 research studies* that collectively demonstrate that grounding reduces inflammation and promotes normal functioning of all body systems. During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Clint became interested in the concept of earthing...7:45 -How a busload of Japanese tourists gave Clint his big idea regarding grounding...17:12 -The early days of Clint's clinical research on grounding the body with the Earth...23:23 -What is going on in the body when a person is grounded with the Earth...33:25 -The mechanism of action for grounding to the earth...43:30 -What our ancestors understood about earthing and grounding...48:15 -The best surface when it comes to conductivity between the Earth and the body...50:20 -Best shoes to wear to properly ground with the earth...53:35 -The length of time required for a person to become properly grounded with the Earth...57:15 -How to know whether or not your home is grounded with the Earth...1:02:15 -Whether all grounding mats created equal...1:04:05 -The grounding patches that are an athlete's best friend...1:08:00 -And much more... Out of 565 Multiple Listing Services nationwide, 82 serve less than 100 brokers and agents. Unsurprisingly, this means that the nation’s 20 largest Multiple Listing Services serve over 50 percent of the nation’s total MLS subscribers. Summary: In this episode Clint Malarchuk shares some truly amazing stories about his life. Malarchuk is best known for having survived a life-threatening injury during a 1989 NHL game when another player's skate blade sliced his carotid artery and jugular vein, causing immediate massive blood loss. We discuss his time as an NHL goaltender, how he nearly died 3 times and how he suffered from Anxiety, depression and OCD. Clint's story is massively courageous and today he speaks publicly about his struggle for the benefit of others. No job in the world of sports is as intimidating, exhilarating and as stress-ridden as that of a hockey goaltender. Standing in the crease facing one-hundred-mile-an-hour slapshots, the entire game riding on your glove hand, standing on your head when necessary-all job requirements for those wanting to be the best goalies in the world. Now imagine doing that job while suffering high anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder, and having your career nearly literally cut short by a skate across your neck. The Crazy Game takes you deep into the troubled mind of Clint Malarchuk, the former NHL goaltender for the Quebec Nordiques, Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres. Even as a boy, Malarchuk faced such deep anxiety that he missed school and acted out at school and with his friends. His OCD changed the way he trained, and he was almost always the last player off the ice. When his throat was slashed during a collision in the crease, Malarchuk nearly died on the ice. Forever changed, he struggled deeply with depression and a dependence on alcohol, which nearly cost him his life and left a bullet in his head. Grounding and earthing are becoming more and more mainstream by the day, but it wasn’t always this way for the man who brought the practice into existence. What was the process of taking grounding away from the fringes, and into a more mainstream lifestyle? What does grounding do for our bodies, immune and nervous systems? How does the invention of plastics directly link to the health problems so many people are facing? On this episode, I continue my conversation with grounding pioneer, Clint Ober. He shares on what his grounding studies taught him, how grounding actually works and how we can all adopt it into our lifestyles. Takeaways The body is conductive, so if you want to shield it from free radicals, you don’t shield the environment, you shield the body. We live in an elevated, sympathetic state. There is so much noise and so many things in our modern existence that trigger our flight or fight response. EMFs are an example of this noise, and without grounding, they will damage our bodies. Animals in the wild don’t have the health disorders because they are grounded. Domesticated animals are prone to the same illnesses as human beings because they too are not grounded. At the start of this episode, Dr. Clint shares how he went about the process of getting studies to support the idea of grounding, and the resistance he faced from mainstream experts. We talked about how the nervous system relates to grounding, and why the practice is so necessary in this day and age. We also talked about how grounding beginners can adopt the practice into their daily lives. We also discussed; How Clint was able to bridge the electrical with the biological Why EMFs are a huge problem The chain reaction that sets off chronic inflammation How the invention of plastic affected our health negatively Grounding should be a front and center protocol for all things health because it can be applied to so many health issues plaguing our society. When we ground ourselves, we take the stress off your immune systems, and undo the chain reaction that sets off chronic inflammation. If we are grounded, EMF and free radicals, won’t be able to penetrate our bodies, we will actually deflect it. In order to undo the effects of all the toxicity we’re dealing with, we need to have more redox potential by introducing more free electrons in our bodies. It’s as simple as spending some time in nature and getting grounded as much as possible. It can change and save lives. Guest Bio- Clinton Ober is CEO of EarthFX Inc., a research and development company located in Palm Springs. He first learned of grounding when marketing and installing Cable TV systems in Billings, Montana in the early 1960’s. A decade later, he formed Telecrafter Corporation and built it into the largest provider of cable installation services in the United States. This company specialized in proper grounding of cable installations for safety and signal stability. In the 1980’s, he turned his attention to the developing computer industry and partnered with McGraw-Hill to distribute live digital news services, via cable, to PCs. This led to the development of the first cable modem and an increased awareness of the need for proper system grounding. Following a health challenge in 1995, he retired and embarked on a personal journey looking for a higher purpose in life. During his travels, he noticed people wearing plastic and rubber soled shoes that insulate the body from earth. He wondered if no longer being naturally grounded could affect us. The question led to an experiment that suggested grounding reduced pain and improved sleep. He developed a working hypothesis: Grounding normalizes functioning of all body systems (Corollary: The body utilizes the earth’s electrical potential to maintain its internal electrical stability for the normal functioning of all self-regulating and self-healing systems). Over the past eighteen years, he has supported a host of research studies that collectively demonstrate that grounding reduces inflammation and promotes normal functioning of all body systems.
Over time, we have lost contact with the Earth—literally. We wear shoes with rubber soles that prevent us from connecting with the ground, and that disconnection may be the cause of many of our modern health issues. So, how does grounding work to make our bodies’ surface charge align with that of the Earth? How does that realignment mitigate health problems like inflammation and chronic pain? And what can we do to get grounded today? Clint Ober is the CEO of Earth FX, Inc., a research and development company that investigates the health benefits of grounding and develops innovative indoor grounding products. More importantly, he is the initiator of the Grounding Movement, an international crusade to shed our shoes and reconnect electrically to the surface of the Earth. In the last two decades, Clint has supported 20-plus research studies that collectively demonstrate how grounding reduces inflammation and promotes the normal functioning of our body systems. On this episode, Clint joins us to explain how he discovered the health benefits of grounding and discuss the study that demonstrated why contact with the Earth is more critical than reducing EMFs. He describes how grounding improved his own sleep and eliminated his chronic pain, offering insight around why you can’t have inflammation if you’re grounded.
