On this episode of Come Rain or Shine, Andre Young, Founder of You Evolving Now LLC, joins the show to discuss his career journey. A former athlete and mental health therapist, Andre unpacks his drive as an entrepreneur and desire to motivate organizations through meaningful leadership practices. As he notes, the problem with some leaders is they marry their vision and the path they forge as opposed to their ‘why'; however, this often leads to burnout and disillusion. While many managers try to stir their team to outcomes, Andre argues it's far better for them to make their name synonymous with what they do, perform beyond good intentions, and inspire the same mentality within their influence. I am out of this world excited that this episode with the fantastic Mystic Michaela finally came to life! We have been discussing it for years (a theme lately, it seems?) & this conversation certainly does not disappoint. Michaela is the first guest ever on TBB to discuss all things aura colors — and she is a true wizard at reading people's auras! This is why she has amassed a global audience, has the most engaged Facebook group we've ever seen, has been on national television to read auras, and beyond. In this convo we of course discuss aura colors, and we also go deep on all things 5D, starseeds, working with your partner, the MOST engaged Facebook group in the world, and so much more. We talk about the crossovers between aura colors, empaths / HSP's, astrology, and human design. We also talk about the crossovers between indigo auras and indigo children! I am lucky enough to have Michaela read my aura in this episode, and she also reads Jonathan (my husband), Atticus (my son), and Hudson (my cat — by far my most famous family member…!). We also do a celebrity quick fire where she gives us the aura juice on celebs from Justin Bieber to Kim Kardashian to Britney Spears to all of the Real Housewives of BH and more. I know you guys will love! We hope you love this episode and cannot wait to hear your feedback! Curiosity is one of our most powerful ADHD strengths, but it can also be one of our greatest hindrances if the people around us see our curiosity as a challenge to authority, rather than a genuine interest in understanding the world. When my guest, Siw Slevigen, was growing up she always had her strong curiosity met with either excitement or disdain by teachers, and–surprise, surprise–it always impacted her ability and willingness to learn. Rather than shrink herself in shame, Siw leaned into her curiosity and let it guide her down a path of joyfulness and self-acceptance. Now a money management coach, Siw believes that the only way to change our relationship with money is by accepting ourselves exactly where we are and infusing curiosity and excitement into everything we do. Siw's positive approach to economics has completely changed my own attitude toward money and my ability to save it, and I know our wonderful conversation will give even the most impulsive spenders out there a fresh perspective. My guest today is the beaming and beautiful, Emme, a supermodel and body image advocate that's broken down barriers in the modeling industry with her unique look and dedication to positive change. She was Revlon's first full-figured model and is known as a, if not THE, pioneer in women's body empowerment. We learn that she stumbled into the modeling world by accident before finding herself as a sought-after talent by top brands and magazines in the nineties. We talk about the harsh mental and emotional environment in the modeling space, how she's coached her daughter to operate within, and outside, of existing norms as a model herself, and of course – healthy body image. It's an honor to share this time and space with such an icon in the women's empowerment world. As a kid in the nineties – and I'm sure many listeners will agree – it was so important to see strong confident women like Emme in the most sparkling and celebrated places, and it still is. Marlin is the quintessential Renaissance man and has led a life that reads like a novel—running away with the circus, seeing the world with his juggling act, living in a tree house in the jungle, writing and illustrating a book, dreaming up an illuminated show that would go on to play internationally, inventing a one-of-a-kind toy, and building a homestead where he lives in a solar-powered house. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Michael Marlin, known as Marlin, about his fascinating role as an astro tourism consultant, speaker, and author. I was so excited to discuss what dark skies tourism means for businesses and how destinations can begin to create a story that offers an amazing experience to their visitors. Marlin also shares some examples of where destination marketers can find creative examples of how businesses can leverage their proximity to a dark sky destination. What You Will Learn in this Episode: Marlin shares how he first became aware of dark skies and how that experience piqued his interest in astro tourism How Haley's Comet led to Marlin's interest in performance artwork in the dark, which eventually led to his founding of theatrical a touring production called Luma Marlin describes how people can find places with dark sky certifications and the impact of the certification on the local travel and tourism industry Some of the places in the world where travelers can find dark skies to enjoy, including Norway, South Africa, and Hawaii How social media is drawing people to dark sky experiences Marlin gives his advice to communities in the path of the solar eclipse in North America in 2024 on how they can prepare to give their visitors and residents the best experience possible How to create a positive and cohesive experience for people interested in Astro tourism, from music to folk stories, to help tourists understand what they are seeing in the night sky Some travel industry trends coming to the fore right now, including sustainable tourism and eco-tourism, and how they feed into the theme of astro tourism What a business or a destination can do to take advantage of their dark skies How Dark Skies Impact Tourism Opportunites Visitors interested in taking advantage of the experience of visiting a dark skies certified park have to stay overnight, which is a massive boost to the local economy. Marlin suggests how businesses, including hotels, restaurants, boutiques, and entertainment venues close to dark sky parks, can create content to enhance the experience they offer to astro tourists. Destinations need to connect the dots for visitors and create an experience for when people come out to see the dark sky covering themes such as astronomy, music, and the culture and storytelling that connects us to space and the stars above us. Marlin shares the most important things destinations can do to enhance visitors' view of the stars, including ditching white LEDs and going back to an amber-colored light in outside areas. Dark Skies and Sustainability On the podcast, Marlin discusses how dark skies connect to other key themes in the travel and tourism industry, such as sustainability and climate change. He shares why people who are interested in dark skies have an interest in protecting dark skies and are therefore more likely to be drawn to those causes. Marlin explores how central Idaho dark sky reserve, Ketchum, Sun Valley, changed their lighting to achieve a dark sky certification and how that impacted on their contribution to slowing climate change. The International Dark-Sky Association works to protect dark skies and can also provide lots of resources on dark sky friendly lighting that destinations can seek out. Communities Near Dark Sky Areas Parts of North America are in the path of the upcoming solar eclipse in 2024, and on the show, Marlin shares advice and insights with communities in the path of totality. He discusses how they can prepare to give their visitors and residents the best experience possible by incorporating music and folk stories into the astro tourism offering to help people connect with what they see in the night sky. Can artificial intelligence (AI) help your agency grow? In this episode of the Innovative Agency podcast, we are joined by the founder of Agency Growth Secrets, Josh Harris. Josh helps companies stop wasting money on customer acquisition using artificial intelligence to optimize marketing campaigns. During our conversation, he shares his insights on how to integrate AI into your agency for growth. What you will learn in this episode: How integrating artificial intelligence (AI) can help your agency's growth What are the common objections to implementing AI and how have they changed in recent years What is the difference between a trend and a fad, and why it's important to learn to spot them in your industry Why efficiency and effectiveness are the most important requirements of technology How can agencies begin to implement AI into their lead generation and sales processes What are the two most important categories that agency owners should prioritize for AI Bio Josh Harris developed an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age. Growing up in Illinois, he found himself creating businesses to help his neighborhood. He quickly learned that your paycheck doesn't have to be directly tied to a set number of hours worked. Instead, he discovered that money is tied to your personal productivity. This caused the marketing mogul to face the internet head-on. He wanted to be the man in charge and the web would be his path to opportunity. Josh created a marketing and website business that saw some success, but not enough. He desired a better life without the money woes he was so familiar with. After struggling to scale his business, and enacting the help of a mentor, he finally honed in on a successful approach to business growth. His marketing and website company grew rapidly, and Josh soon sought other ventures. In 2014, Josh founded Agency Growth Secrets, an advanced data-targeting company that uses artificial intelligence to optimize marketing campaigns. Through technology and machine learning, AGS allows companies to pinpoint individuals who are ready to purchase. This saves the companies from money wasted on customer acquisition. [4:46] Matt introduces Jason Salmon and today's topic. [6:21] What does the real estate market look like right now? [10:30] Many people are looking to exit properties right now. Introduced to the industry by a random internship application to Visit Baltimore, Andreas Weissenborn began an unexpected career that left him with a continued passion for tourism. He is currently the Vice President of Research and Advocacy for Destinations International, and he leads the research and advocacy efforts of the entire organization with an eye toward developing data-driven tools to help destinations around the world tell their story. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Andreas Weissenborn shares his philosophy that DMOS are caretakers of the data and information on the visitor economy. He also dives into why tourism has become a community shared value and explains why DMOs should view their role as serving the people of their communities as a central priority. What You Will Learn in this Episode: Andreas shares a little about himself and the story of how he became interested in destination marketing Andreas' early role in information technology and database management and how that has an impact on his current work at Destinations International How DMOs can be the primary steward of data for their community What it means to be a community shared value, what Andreas' vision for Destinations International was, and how the pandemic accelerated the concept The importance of lexicon in how we describe things, why we need to change how we talk about ourselves to reframe our thinking around the role of the DMO Why leading with emotion rather than facts and figures is critical Where Andreas sees our most significant opportunities as destination marketing organizations in the post-pandemic world Making Data Meaningful The fundamental definition of effective research and analytics is taking massive swathes of data and making it comprehensible, easily understood, and applicable. Andreas shares his experience of working at Visit Baltimore and why he feels it was the start of the golden era of data analytics for Destination Marketing Organizations. He dives into why it is so critical to have individuals in the travel and tourism space who can help diagnose, dissect, and explain what this data does. That ability to translate bookings, data, or visitor spending into understandable information that is meaningful to stakeholders was where Andreas found his niche in the industry. And those skills still feed into the broader and greater mission of Destination Marketing Organisations. DMOs are Vital to the Community Destination Marketing Organizations are the stewards of the visitor economy, but they also serve their community. This is why it's so important to change how DMOs talk about themselves and how they get involved. Destination organizations are the most uniquely qualified entity for the next normal in representing a brand because the brand transcends the physical and virtual realm. DMOs are uniquely qualified because they're the only entity that can sit at the table with civic, social, cultural, and historical entities and bring everyone together. Next Steps for DMOs According to Andreas, destinations can take some tangible next steps to be successful. DMOs are often the most influential voice of a brand because of the reach of their website and their social media channels. They need a mission or a vision statement that reads in an emotional, storied way so visitors don't have to question who and what you are. DMOs also need to teach, train and advocate not only their entire staff but their entire membership so that everyone understands the value proposition and the work they do and is clear on why tourism matters for the community. How can interviews help you if you are writing a non-fiction book? I spent a lot of time interviewing guests for this podcast and as a freelance journalist. Interviews can seem like they're pretty straightforward to do. But it can take almost as long to prepare for an interview, particularly if you don't know the topic well. Even if you're knowledgeable about a topic, it's still helpful to figure out an angle for your interview because it gives a strong structure. I have learned to use interviews in my non-fiction because they help add a third-party voice. If you're writing a non-fiction book about a particular topic, interviewing an expert in your niche adds credibility. One series of books that's made a significant impact on me is the Market Wizards series by Jack Schwager. He profiles day traders, investors, and various types of financial entrepreneurs who have made money in the markets. Now, I don't day trade, but I particularly like these books because they give a good insight into a different type of career. They also reveal commonalities between writers who spend a lot of time alone in a room writing and day traders who can do the same except in front of their terminals or computer screens. Jack uses interviews to craft a compelling argument throughout the chapters. The Market Wizards series extends over five books, and he's spent 30 years working on this particular series. So when I caught up with Jack, I had a stack of questions for him. I hope you enjoy my catch-up with Jack about his Market Wizards series of books. I recommend them even if you're not interested in day trading. They offer excellent advice about risk management and starting your own business, and they are a great read.In this episode, we discuss:How Jack gets ready to interview day traders, investors, and people who found success in the marketsHow Jack had sustained his interest in a topic for over 30 yearsHow difficult it is to find new angles and ways to talk about the same ideas or topics Resources:Website: https://jackschwager.com/Support the show

Join Jamie and Maggie Clark with their guest, Harmony Rose, as they talk about the divine feminine and how the natural world relates to who women are today. Harmony is a divine feminine mentor. She shares how there is a plethora of knowledge to be accessed that can empower women. The Divine Feminine and Psychic Abilities A lot of psychic abilities are not accessed because most people stay on the crown chakra mode, as said by Harmony. With the divine feminine work, she helps them bring that down to the womb; for men, it would be their hora. In a woman's body, the womb is the portal to the divine feminine energy where actual spirit can come into a body, creating life in the form of a baby. Psychic abilities must be embodied and brought down from the crown chakra. Women usually have root or sacral chakra blocks from past life experiences, and those blocks prevent manifesting true psychic abilities. Clearing the sacral chakra and empowering that area would cause a realization of the psychic potential within oneself and use it to assist in everyday tasks. Asking the Bigger Questions In Harmony's experience teaching the priestess path, the biggest question she usually gets revolves around what embodiment actually is. Others include what is anchoring heaven and earth and people getting stuck in their inner child temple. Everything kind of wraps around the inner child thing because Harmony explains that this is where inner child wounds are being healed. The inner child is hard to access as it has been repressed for so long, and many people are projecting that inner child as it screams inside the psyche. This is where embodiment is added to the equation: embodying the energy from the crown chakra and the third eye and moving it through the throat. About Harmony Rose: Harmony Rose is a certified E-RYT200 yin and shakti yoga instructor, shamanic life coach, retreat facilitator, womb priestess, yoni steam facilitator, divine feminine mentor, intuitive healer, and reiki master teacher. Her passion is bringing women to gather as sisters on a path of healing. Weaving the ways of the wild and wise woman into modern-day women's lives can give everyone a sense of wholeness and freedom that everyone long for. On the show, Debbie describes why you need to look at where your audience hangs out online, and if you're not on a specific channel, but your competition is — you might need to make some changes. Lean into the initial heavy lifting and research and figure out where your audience spends their time and where your competitors spend their time and make sure you're there too. Then you can create those conversations and the stories around what makes you distinct from those competitors. Finding Your Ideal Customer As a hospitality business, or any type of organization in the travel, tourism, or hospitality space, we need to get really focused in on who we're targeting. Having worked on his family's 1,500-plus-acre commodity crop farm, John brought his technical know-how to the business since its inception, and has since been in charge of administering all tractor-related tasks and maintaining all of the farm tools and equipment. His daily responsibilities also include livestock care, from feeding and caring for the cattle, to collecting and washing eggs laid by their heritage hens. As a Culinary Institute of America alumnus with 15 years of experience working as a professional chef prior to starting the farm, John believes that patience and simple techniques are key when preparing food with fresh, quality ingredients.
