This week's show is a Deconversion Anonymous episode. My guest this week is Jason, the son of a pastor. He grew up in the independent Christian Churches, an offshoot of the Church of Christ that allows music. He grew up doing “sword drills” and was a devout teenage believer. He participated in Bible memorization contests. He became a musician and participated in worship bands for years. In Jason's young adulthood he began to question his own interpretation of the Bible. Why was bad language bad? Why the limited role of women in the church? How could a loving god send people to Hell? Eventually, the disparity between the idea of a loving god and the reality of the world and the suffering of innocent children led to his deconversion. Jason's wife is still a believer though they both deconstructed from Evangelicalism and started participating in an Episcopal church. They are making an “unequally yoked” relationship work based on love, equality and mutual respect. Overview Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast advises healthcare professionals *not* to miss out on the opportunity of scaling your business by generating online revenue.  Episode Highlights Online opportunities allows you to scale your business services versus working 1:1. You don’t need to have direct online experience. In Jason’s case, no one thought an anesthesia provider could create an online course. And he’s created three: Ketamine Academy, IV Therapy Academy and Course Creator Academy. A few examples of healthcare professionals who are primed to offer their services online include physical therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, nutritionists, dieticians and educators, as well as the areas of primary care, functional medicine and integrated medicine.  Career coaches, performance coaches and business consultants are also ideally suited for online teaching.  There’s a finite number of patients you can see. 80% or more of your services consist of doing the exact same thing. So consider recording this and delivering it  online via a course.  Providing coaching courses online exponentially increases your market value and allows you to have a greater impact on your clients, patients or students while creating a community. Jason shares his experiences creating online educational courses and how he’s made a 1.8M in revenue from two courses over three years.  The major benefits for online coaching and course programs include impact, freedom and income. It’s a good time to start online educational courses because there’s little competition present. Jason encourages you to apply to the Course Creator Academy program. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, he knows you’ll see transformational results. 3 Key Points Expanding your business online is one of the biggest missed opportunities for healthcare professionals in terms of creating scalable revenue streams.  Creating an educational course online is not easy - you’ll make mistakes on your first try and there’s a learning curve. You need to have “go-get-it-ness” and grit. Have someone walk you through the process via an educational program to expedite learning.  The time to act is now. There’s very little competition so you can charge premium pricing and add market value.  Tweetable Quotes “Invest and learn from others who have gone before you.” - Jason Duprat “The online course (model) is impacting people 24 hours a day/365 days a year because they can log in and learn whenever they want.” - Jason Duprat References Mentioned Book A Course Creator Academy Clarity Call - https://jasonduprat.com/call/ Ketamine Academy - https://www.ketamineprofessionals.com/enroll?_ga=2.140760114.129310485.1605542831-1411778904.1601068488 IV Therapy Academy - https://www.ivtherapyacademy.com/course-information #HealthcareEntrepreneurAcademy #healthcare #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #onlinecourses #onlinelearning #revenuegeneration #missedopportunity

Jason McIntosh is the creator of Motion Trader — an online advisory service for retail investors and SMSFs. His career began in 1991 on the trading floor at Bankers Trust where he got to work with some of the best investment traders in the world. He gave up the hustle and bustle of the CBD in 2007. Nowadays he manages his family's investments from his home in Sydney because at the end of the day investment should be all about lifestyle. And what Jason enjoys most is teaching every day hard working Aussies to invest like the pros. He loves helping struggling investors to become successful. And if you're ready, he’d love to help you too. In technical terms, Jason is a share market algorithm investor. He’s developed a proven, profitable and robust share investing system that has personally returned his investment portfolio over 10-12% per annum, as you’ll hear during our discussion. Jason’s Motion Trader is a medium term trend following strategy. The aim is to use proven algorithms to identify stocks which meet the entry criteria. It’s then a case of letting profitable investments run, and cutting losing ones relatively early. Winning trades often last for around a year (some last several years), whereas losing trades typically last a few months (but some exit within days).   And the good news is that he now helps you remove yourself and your self-sabotaging ways from your investing through his service, incorporating all of the good habit forming system principles we cover about today. Jason doesn’t talk about success rates, he talks about the probability and profitability of your trading system – systems where you can have more losers than winners and still end up making money. How? Because your many losses are small compared to the much bigger size of your few wins. It’s how I had 60% losing trades but was still profitable. It all relies on a good investing system with a proven set of predetermined rules for entering and exiting share purchases that follows trend patterns. And the beauty of Jason’s Motion Trader approach is that his algorithms do all of the homework and research for you, and because the work is technically based, the trading rules remove our subjective emotional judgement and reactivity - which is the cause of most investment underperformance. I’ve always said that investment is all about the numbers and I don’t even need to see the property or know anything about the company I’m buying shares in, in fact I prefer not to because I then start getting emotionally attached - which can result in poor judgement and bad decisions. And in line with this thinking, Motion Trader’s algorithm analysis along with his email potential trade notification service means you don’t need to do the homework, you just need to follow his signals.   Jason says that people often say that successful trading is all about secrets. They believe the best traders have special knowledge that regular people can’t access. But do you know what? In his opinion, there are no ‘secrets’. The strategies the best traders use are nothing new. They’re mostly variations of the same winning tactics that have been in use for decades, if not centuries. Many traders make the mistake of focusing on one thing: when to buy. And yes, entries are important. But they’re just one cog in the machine. The difference between success and failure are the rest of the cogs, although many people lose money long before figuring this out.   So how do some of the best traders make millions? In Jason’s opinion, it essentially comes down to five rules: Trade with the trend Have many relatively small trades Get good at quitting Be slow to take profits Give winners room to move If you’re interested in learning more about the details of these secrets, Jason and Motion Trader have kindly given you free access to his exclusive report ‘Five Secrets of the World’s Best Traders’ so if you’d like an electronic copy, just email me at bushy@khgroup.com.au and we’ll get it to you. (26:15) Jason mentions that the option of having the ability to work at home or to work at the office is highly significant. (31:28) Heather shares that she just finished reading the book entitled Never Split The Difference, by Chris Voss. (33:03) Heather mentions that she is currently writing a new book. (33:29)   Key Quotes: “I wrote and self-published my book, and I just continued to take action, step into fear and believe that bringing my talents to whatever lane I went to would inevitably work or not, but I've had that opportunity to pivot and try something different.” - Heather Monahan “If I just go out there on the stage and give it my best, I’m going to be proud of me. But if I don't go out there, I’ll never live it down in my mind. I can do this, lower the expectations and step into it.”  - Heather Monahan “People need to feel empowered, they need to feel safe, and they need to feel that they're in a trusting environment whatever that looks like.” - Heather Monahan “You’ve got to reinvent yourself and you've got to find a way to create connections through a computer, which isn't easy for everyone. So you've got to start employing different tactics, testing different things, and meeting with people who are doing well so you can learn some hacks from them.” - Heather Monahan “One of the most powerful things you can do for one of your clients or customers is asking how they are in a truly caring way and allow them to empty their glass. You just created such trust and such connection, that their brain is firing dopamine and they feel amazing.” - Heather Monahan “What we can do is we can find certainty within ourselves. Meaning, if we are still in an environment like this, you know, virtually a portion of my business more, I'll capitalize and I'll find ways to be more efficient, effective, and optimize what I'm currently doing.” - Heather Monahan   Resources Mentioned: Agency Intelligence Reach out to Jason Cass LinkedIn- Heather Monahan Speakers Bureau TedX Confidence Creator   Advertisers: Podium ePay Policy

(6:10) Has Bill listened to Jason’s podcast before? (6:44) What does Bill attribute to his success, skill or luck? (7:02) Bill shares the first big break of his career in insurance. (7:55) Bill shares his background and journey to success. (8:40) Bill mentions that he did a series of three startups. (11:56) Bill says that the main idea is that you should be able to know before you offer somebody insurance is what you need to charge them. (14:43) Bill mentions that there is no great insurance story that isn't a distribution story. If you have great agents, you're going to win. (18:00) Bill explains that he gets to concentrate on making his product more attractive to both the distributors and the customers, and that's where the value is going to be built. (18:46) Would it be safe to say that a lot of CEOs don't think like Bill? (19:25) Bill mentions that there is some brilliance to the delivery of really good ideas that aren’t apparent at first. (21:38) Jason shares that the distribution system has given him a life, he never thought that would be possible. (22:15) Jason thinks that a lot of people lose sight of understanding that it's a passion, a willingness, and a desire to change an industry and have it look perhaps, different. (22:34) Bill shares that there are some great things about the regulation that we aren't embracing enough, but there are also some things that are just getting old. (24:24) What is the game plan that Bill cast as a vision for Plymouth, and how does he see the future? (26:14) Bill mentions that he started the small piece of a company called Neptune Flood Insurance. (26:50) Why has the industry not tried to take over the National Flood Insurance Program? (28:46) Bill explains the two reasons why NFIP started. (28:55) Bill shares that it's not wrong to tell everybody what the secret formula is. Because they'll come in and ease the pressure on you to offer rates that are not affordable if you aggregate. (30:57) In Jason’s opinion, data is the single biggest differentiator in the insurance industry. (32:06) Bill talks about an announcement from someone in Insurtech. (32:59) Bill shares that it’s weird how they’ve used data to improve the insurance company's lot, and they haven't used it to improve the insure policyholders lot. They tend to use it to make their loss ratios better and out segment everybody, but they don't use it to make the customers’ lives easier. (34:13) Bill says that the interest rates can influence companies, but the companies that are influenced are the ones that probably aren't going to survive in the long term. It's the ones that are disciplined through the interest rate environment that will survive. (40:02) Bill mentions that he’s reading the book entitled The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777 (The Revolution Trilogy) by Rick Atkinson. (42:31) Bill thinks that CEOs often don't have time to be nuanced. (42:51) Bill thinks that the big factor for a lot of agencies is that they need to be really good technicians and they need to be really good with people. (44:05) Key Quotes: “I'm not trying something that's enough on the edge to really make a difference. So if I don't push the edge and fail, then I guarantee you that I'm not going to have something that succeeds.” - Bill Martin “Anybody can lose money, you just lower rates. Anybody can make money and not grow, you just raise rates... But nobody seems to be able to grow and make money at the same time.” - Bill Martin “I'm going to do the thing that does make sense and we're going to compete with it, and there'll be millions of things that don't work because there are reasons we do things the way we do, and those reasons don't go away just because you tried something new.” -Bill Martin Resources Mentioned: Agency Intelligence We Got Your Podcast Reach out to Jason Cass LinkedIn- Bill Martin Plymouth Rock Property Assurance   Advertisers: Lightspeed Voice ePay Policy

Like a lot of insuretech founders, self-described programming geek Jason Kolb fell into the insurance industry – and loves it. It began with his working on technology to support a carrier book roll. Today, with Dais, his team built a platform enabling API connections. Agencies communicate with carriers and policyholders for a host of services (e.g. CSR responsibilities) and expertise (e.g. underwriting). “Agents are entrepreneurial, ambitious, competitive and they want to drive the industry,” he says. In Jason’s view, the traditional agency management systems should heed the evolving landscape. “When you’re dominating the market, one of two things will happen. You will be disrupted, or you will disrupt yourself. It’s painful because some of the revenue streams that have been profitable for a long time won’t be in the future.” The legacy players, he says, “have to make a decision. Will they be open or will they be closed?” Faced with technology pressure and insuretech options, Jason predicts more alliances and consolidation among carriers. “People will look at partnering more. Insurance is just a giant supply chain – one big layer of overlap.” The post Disrupt Yourself appeared first on Insurance Journal TV.

When he believes clients should be approaching Sales Performance Team for expertise In his experience, how often is the salesperson in need of improvement vs the sales process? [In Jason's experience over the past 25 years, he has seen companies large and small who do not control or have consistency in their sales process. You can walk across the hallway and find a salesperson who is doing the job completely differently from their fellow sales employee.] What are the consequences of this lack of consistency? How does it affect buyer experience? And financial results? Ability to determine what went wrong or even what went right? What does Nick hear that tells him, “This is going to be a great project”? I chimed in and mentioned that the listener might want to pursue something more systematic to improve, like the acclaimed series from GM Arthur Yusopov , The Steps Series, or the Susan Polgar series for those brand new to chess. 29:00- As is a regular feature on the Adult Improver Series, we launch into a discussion of how useful various attempts at improving one’s chess games are. Jason gives his opinion on the importance of having a coach, as well as the relative merits of analyzing one’s games, solving tactics, studying endgames, playing speed chess, learning openings,  exercising, and more. We recently hosted a webcast conversation between Jason VandeBoom, CEO and Founder of ActiveCampaign, and Hisham Ibrahim, Lean Startup Co. Faculty Member, focused on the importance of leaning into your customers and learning from them in order to grow your business. In Jason and Hisham’s conversation, they discuss: - The importance of letting customer feedback guide the product development - How to scale up while staying close to your customers - The key lessons learned as Jason looks back on the startup story of ActiveCampaign And much, much more… When Jason VandeBoom launched ActiveCampaign in 2003, he wasn’t trying to start a business or grow a company. He was just trying to make some money to pay for college. All of his customers were small businesses and they all started wanting the same thing: to communicate with their customers. At the time, the options for small businesses to implement something like this was somewhat limited. Instead of building one-off tools and products for each company, Jason decided to create a contact management package and sell that instead. “[I had] no idea of what that could be,” Jason says, “and then as someone bought it, I just glued onto them to learn as much as I could.” In fact, for a while, Jason says he didn’t even care about the revenue he was generating. Rather, “all I cared about was the interesting work and ensuring I was providing a ton of value.” His focus on listening to the customers helped him learn a lot about what customers needed and how to add to ActiveCampaign’s product catalogue. So much so that by the end of the first decade his company was up to eight products, all of which impacted a piece of the customer experience. “We learned a lot about each piece,” Jason says, “but the tool didn’t actually matter as much as moving data throughout their entire experience and making that feel like a unified experience.” Email us: education@leanstartup.co Follow Lean Startup Co. @leanstartup https://leanstartup.co/education

Jason shares how he started his athletic career by riding BMX and later transitioning into Football where he found Strength & Conditioning and a love for Fitness as he worked the front desk at a local gym. It was through fitness where he started practicing CrossFit which led Jason to taking the tile of the Fittest Man On Earth by winning the 2008 CrossFit Games. While pursuing his career as a professional athlete, Jason decided to simultaneously take his job in the fitness industry to the next level by opening his own gym. A gym that has now grown to over 20 locations around the world. As Jason juggled being a professional athlete and operating a rapidly growing business, a wrench was thrown into his life when his daughter was suddenly diagnosed with Leukemia. It was at this moment when Fitness helped him navigate this scary period of time in his life, which he did through what he has now coined the AMRAP Mentality - A mindset in which one remains focused, shuts out the noise, commits to hard work, and ads a touch of competitive energy to achieve the desired results. In Jason’s case, the results he was looking for were to remain solution conscious, create a safe environment for his daughter to heal, while making sure that he stayed connected to his family and on top of helping his business thrive. Jason has now written a book with the title As Many Reps As Possible and subtitled “ Succeeding in competition, business, and life by making the most of every single minute”, where Jason talks about how you too can develop the AMRAP Mentality which has allowed him to find freedom and success in his life. Jason's book is now available on Amazon and where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to support children and their families battling pediatric cancer. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/carlpaoli/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/carlpaoli/support

In today's episode, Keener and Jason, dive into hockey history to tell the 'hole' story of mesh jerseys.  They start in the early days of the Oilers back in the eighties all the way to the role of mesh in today's jerseys.  A brief history:  Textured mesh  (the 80s) AirKnit (87 Rendezvous) (CCM added double CCM logos due to not knowing what jersey Gretzky would wear) Ultrafill appeared on the scene CCM / JOFA / KOHO  - Jofa never made the third jerseys in the NHL. Jofa only made practice jerseys. When CCM bought JOFA there was no more mesh, it was all Airknit Jerseys.  Mesh inserts in jerseys are now commonplace. The question of the day: What is the goal of hockey jerseys today? To be lighter and stronger? When do you get the optimal jersey? Is so much innovation really necessary? Gretzky scored 92 goals with his jersey, does a lighter jersey really help? Please comment below.  If you like Jersey Talk, be sure to subscribe, rate and review our podcast, and check us out at: www.keenerjerseys.com Facebook: @KeenerJerseys Instagram: @Keener_Jerseys  Twitter: @Keener_Jerseys SUBSCRIBE TO JERSEY TALK Additional Information: '81 Oilers using mesh for the first time and lite it up. Gretzky scored 92 goals with mesh, why not go back to mesh? Keener AirKnit is way more comfortable. Mesh is coarse and not too comfortable. 2019 NHL All-star jerseys were a great hit! “Get the NHL logo off the crest and people will get behind the All-star jerseys” Additional hidden symbols and images in jerseys: Vancouver Canucks Skate logo, Hartford Whalers 'WH' in logo, and the St Louis Blues logo with a music note.
