He enjoys skateboarding long distances, spending time with his family, and has a black belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.Book: The Mediocre Infantryman's Guide to Ranger School (Modern Military Memoirs)What do you do when you show up to Ranger School clueless, alone, and completely unprepared for the pain and suffering ahead? How are you going to survive one of the world's toughest military courses, earn the coveted Ranger Tab, and come home in one piece?Corporal Andrew Goldsmith isn't a super soldier—he's your average infantryman, and by his own admission, a pretty mediocre one at that. Yet through a twist of fate and dumb luck, he finds himself thrown into an ordeal designed to break even the most elite warriors. Severely sleep-deprived, perpetually starving, limping through injuries, and tormented by both the elements and the infamous Ranger Instructors, Goldsmith quickly realizes that surviving Ranger School will be the greatest battle of his life. The journey isn't always glamorous. There are no heroic montages, few dramatic triumphs— just the toilsome life of a ranger, and a lot of questionable decisions made under duress. With his comrades dropping like flies and his mental state teetering on the edge, Goldsmith has to dig deep to find a way through the madness, summoning the strength to endure a course so brutal that many describe it as worse than combat itself. In 'A Mediocre Infantryman's Guide to Ranger School,' Goldsmith shares his brutally honest, darkly funny, and surprisingly relatable account of his journey through one of the most notorious rites of passage in the U.S. Army. Part survival guide, part cautionary tale, this book isn't just for aspiring Rangers—it's for anyone who's ever faced down a seemingly insurmountable challenge and wondered, “Can I really do this?”https://a.co/d/7kVUVHfhttps://www.instagram.com/mediocreinfantryman/Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

However, the spark was ignited, and in his early twenties, he returned to the martial arts alongside the same friend he used to get in trouble with, joining a local dojo in Caernafon. Driven by a desire to build his own confidence, and inspired by a friend at another club in the network, Jon quickly immersed himself in training, often spending multiple hours honing his skills most nights. Send us a textBrian Antonelli, known throughout corrections as "the fixer," pulls back the curtain on what it takes to restore order in some of America's most challenging prisons. Drawing from 32 years of distinguished service in federal and state corrections, Antonelli shares candid stories about transforming troubled facilities like USP Hazleton, where he arrived shortly after high-profile homicides to implement sweeping reforms. The conversation takes us through Antonelli's remarkable journey from Air Force security forces to becoming a nationally recognized correctional leader. With refreshing honesty, he discusses the realities of prison management – from dealing with gang violence and homicides over trivial debts to the delicate balance of pushing for reform without alienating staff. His experiences activating new facilities, managing high-security inmates, and designing emergency response protocols provide a masterclass in correctional leadership. What sets this episode apart is Antonelli's unique perspective on physical discipline as a foundation for leadership. As both a black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and a competitive powerlifter, he explains how martial arts training creates officers who make better decisions under pressure: "I think one of the biggest things that jiu-jitsu gives you is the ability to make tough decisions in the worst possible scenarios." This philosophy extends to his management approach, where he advocates empowering staff to develop solutions rather than micromanaging from above. The conversation delves into practical leadership frameworks, including the OODA loop for decision-making and techniques for tactfully influencing superiors when necessary. Antonelli's guiding principle—"You can't have programming without discipline, order, and control"—resonates throughout as he explains his counterinsurgency-inspired "Seize Clear, Build, Hold" model for regaining control of troubled facilities.Connect with Brian on LinkedIn to continue the conversation about corrections leadership, or check out his books for deeper insights into restoring order in challenging correctional environments.Bryan on LinkedIn - linkedin.com/in/bryan-a-9b88b44aBryan Books:Leadership Field Manual For Correctional ProfessionalsSEIZE, CLEAR, BUILD, HOLD: REGAINING CONTROL OF TROUBLED PRISONSAlso, check out Michael's newest book - POWER SKILLS for Correctional Professionals PepperBallFrom crowd control to cell extractions, the PepperBall system is the safe, non-lethal option.OMNIOMNI is cutting-edge software designed to track inmates and assets within your prison or jail. On Today's Episode: When you think of makeup what comes to mind? Are you excited and ready to contour and beat your face to the gods? Do you feel like it takes away and diminishes the natural beauty of a woman? Or do you see women in makeup and feel critical, like she must be hiding something, she's being phony or superficial? When it comes to being confident, looks do matter, but maybe not for the reason you think. Mally Roncal is an entrepreneur and celeb makeup artist that exudes levels of confidence and beauty anyone would want. She touches on why embracing what makes you different, what makes you unique, and sometimes what makes you feel the most uncomfortable is a power only you can harness. There is a connection between our inner beauty and the physical. You are not defined by one or the other, and there is no shame in celebrating yourself the way that makes you feel most confident. Beauty isn't about other people, it's about you and feeling good and dressing up and highlighting your beauty in the way you choose to feel and look your best. At this Rad Con Live event Lisa is joined by incredibly confident and strong women such as Danielle Canty of Bossbabes, Nicole LePera, and Eve Torres Gracie from Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The conversation gets open and extremely vulnerable. Discussing aging and insecurities around beauty, scars, and self-worth isn't easy to do openly, but as women we need to be able to have these conversations. If you struggle with your appearance or catch yourself judging yourself and other women for the choices they make and don't make in relation to beauty and living above the standards, this is a must watch! Episode 325: Do you have long legs, love closed guard and triangle chokes? Maybe you have shorter limbs and play using more Half Guard or X-Guard? Body type and limb length was never discussed in the earlier days of BJJ but it does have a big impact on the way you play the Jiu-Jitsu game. In MMA the tale of the Tape, height, weight and reach - Arm span are all factors that can give you an advantage. This holds true for BJJ but no one is talking about it. You might be playing a type of BJJ game that may not suit your body's proportions which may lead to unnecessary injury. The dynamic nature of Jiu-Jitsu means we can all play the game no matter what shape or size we are but could you be more effective using a better tool for the job. This discussion questions whether or not just following your coaches advice because it worked for them is the right way to go. The Migliarese brothers come from four generations of family boxing.
