There is unquestionably too much conflict and violence in this world. And as much as we hate to add to it, we feel we must now take the battle to the podcast's greatest enemy. No, it is not PG films, or PC Culture, or Forrest Gump, musicals or Blumhouse. It is not even Billy Dunham of We Watched a Thing fame - though after the way he flogged us in the recent vote, he may yet get there! No, the greatest enemy of The Countdown: Movie and TV Reviews is indisputably Steven Seagal. An awful human being who has allegedly lied his way through a career in Hollywood and allegedly done terrible things to many women along the way. So, here, now, we declare war on Seagal and will fight this war by taking down one terrible film of his at a time. We're starting with Sniper: Special Ops from 2016 - a supposed war film in which Seagal barely gets off his butt through the entire run time. Join us as we have too much fun skewering this film and most especially its "star" ... as The Countdown continues. [Episode is Rated R and contains offensive language, including slang for female body parts. Last thing we desire is for folks to be uncomfortable, triggered or offended. Please proceed with caution]Co-hosts Ryan Amick and Ellen Mauro discuss some new territory on a common theme we have on this show: PC Culture. Why is Ryan (a white, straight male) sad about not being able to say certain words? Ellen expresses skepticism for Ryan and Joey's fear of being cancelled and wonders what that would even look like for two guys who aren't really famous. Along the way, Joey thinks he found a “female counterpart” for the word “dick,” and don't worry, it's not the “p-word.” Could humans be more forgiving with people's words? Is it a thing of the past to have public, "non-cancelling" spaces for those who are genuinely ignorant but open to learning? Or what about those who truly make a mistake but have sincere regret? We discuss all this and end on the sad note of how Bill Cosby broke our damn hearts. Would you rather your girlfriend be related to Hitler or related to YOU? 5. Does driving a big truck give you confidence and power? 6. What if, every time someone brings up PC Culture, you could only hear experimental jazz trumpet? 7. What if Gordon Ramsay tickled people? 8. What if you laughed like Sagat from SSF2? 9. What if you could save ALL your poops until the very end?
Conservatives never evolved past the American revolution, and that's an objective fact. Lot's of people who lean anywhere right of center are under the impression that they need to get every single person they can to read Milton Friedmen without realizing that he was talking to economists, and not people. While he makes a lot of good points, there's a reason that Dr. Jordan Petersons 12 rules for Life resonates on a much deeper level with more people. In this episode, we talk about why Conservatives always lose the cultural battles in every day conversations, how to make allies with those who aren't conservative but also hate communists, and why the left needs to stop obsessing about collectivism. The problem isn't cooperating and having a collective purpose, it's when people fail to understand or care that a collective is a group of individuals and not one organism. Seriously, no wonder the right doesn't win, nobody is allowed to cooperate, everything is solvable by free market economies, and government is always bad all the time. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

The Coronavirus crisis has exposed the sustained attack on the First Amendment. From losing our liberties to the encroachment of PC culture, it's time to start realizing that the only ones who can protect our rights, are ourselves. Dylan lives in liberal N. California. He works hard, goes to church, rides his mountain bike, and loves his family. But this is where the idyllic story ends. Dylan's life was upended after he made a simple conservative Facebook post. His own children banished him from visiting the family and seeing his grandchildren, his Caucasian friends told him he had White privilege & called him the worst kind of racist, and a member of the local police department left him a message stating that he knows where he lives, and works. All this for an opinion, and a mild one at that. All decent conservatives who think this could never happen to them, think again!
