Formed in 2015 in Wichita, Kansas, Parallax are instantly identifiable as a breed apart.  With a sound that hurls all manner of disparate elements into the sonic blender, and the intensity and conviction to make the resultant hybrid count, this shape-shifting quartet have steadily forged a reputation as modern metal mavericks, releasing a series of acclaimed EPs and playing countless shows with everyone from Whitechapel and Suicide Silence to Mushroomhead and Goatwhore. Jason Levesque is the current D1 Women's Head Coach at St.Bonaventure University. He has had multiple coaching stops in his career, including as an assistant for the Canadian Men's Field team. Talking Sixes Global Significance Sixes lacrosse has been in lacrosse news a lot this week, with the announcement of World Lacrosse's new discipline on Tuesday, the lacrosse industry was torn on how to react. Those of us with international ties understand how hard other countries are working to grow the game and how beneficial Sixes will be in that growth. As Jason said during our interview, the eyeballs an Olympic broadcast would provide creates a new wave of potential fans, players, and coaches. Building a Sixes Roster Full disclosure, neither of us know exactly what the roster limitations will be but we do understand that the rosters will be capped and much smaller than the world games roster of 23. With that being said, we dove a little deeper into what types of players we see being beneficial: traditional 2 way midfielders, guys who grew up playing more attack but transitioned to d-mid in college (happens a lot), BOX players. One unique situation we cant wait to watch play out is Blaze Riorden. Blaze is a world class field goalie and an exceptional forward in the NLL. This means that if you plan to carry 2 goalies, which you should, Blaze could be taking runs out of the cage adding important depth in this new fast paced style of lacrosse. The main point here is, teams will be made up of generalists, guys that can do a little bit of everything (guys like Jeremy Thompson, Zach Currier, Kyle Harrison). Becoming a Women's Coach With an impressive resume as men's coach (Canisius, Alma, Adams State, IMG, Team Canada) what led Jay to becoming a D1 women's head coach? A chance opportunity while working at the IMG academy led to Jay having an increased role helping the women's teams. Over time he grew a stronger and deeper appreciation for the women's game until a familiar friend and mentor (Randy Mearns) brought the vacancy at St.Bonaventure to his attention. It appears Levesque is all in on the women's game and hopes that others will learn to appreciate the game the same way he did. Too many times still animals are seen like things, products even more so in Covid times. I am truly passionate about this and so excited to share this episode with the world. .Link in bio! Angela runs a household full of dogs, some her forever dogs, some foster dogs, some just guests as her partner is a dog trainer, it’s unbelievable inspiring to see the dogs all together getting along, doing their thing. On today’s episode of the Market Dominance Guys, Chris and Corey continue their conversation with Jason Beck, Vice President of Sales at Enerex, by addressing how sales got a dirty name. Chris explains that in ancient times, the salesman met the buyer face to face, but the encounter was usually a one-time transaction. Then, the camel caravan moved on, and if the buyer wasn’t happy with his purchase, there was no one to appeal to for a replacement and no one to lodge a customer complaint with. Ancient sales was a hit-and-run relationship that frequently left a bad taste in the buyer’s mouth about salesmen. But in modern times, the sale is never over, because the telephone and the internet have created an ongoing relationship between sellers and buyers. The modern salesperson needs to understand that you can run, but you can’t hide, which makes it imperative that reps provide value to their customers.Jason and the Market Dominance Guys segue into a discussion of what type of personalities are best suited to be salespeople and what types should definitely NOT hold this job. The attributes of being pro-active and persistent are touted, as well as the importance of being in sales for the right reasons. As Jason puts it, “If closing the deal at the end of the day isn’t what you live for, then don’t be in sales.”This team of sales-savvy guys wraps things up with a discussion of the cycle of the sales process for a new product and why it works — as this podcast’s title says — to Strategize, Execute, Evaluate, and Repeat. About Our GuestJason Beck is Vice President of Sales at Enerex, retail energy's trusted data platform, providing secure connectivity to the entire value chain — brokers, suppliers, agents, customers, and utilities — to drive efficient transactions. How Strength Comes Out Of Difficulty with Jason Brezler Part 2, Ep #12 If you’ve not heard the first part of this conversation with Jason Brezler, you should hit pause and find it just before this episode in your podcast player. It sets the stage for the topics we discuss in this portion of the conversation. The ongoing COVID situation has pushed all of us, leaders and non-leaders alike, into situations we never dreamed we’d face. For many, it’s taken a toll mentally as well as financially. Jason’s experience as a Marine coupled with his current experience as a New York City Fire Fighter and leader of Leadership Under Fire provides a rich perspective through which to view the circumstances of our day. He offers hope and sage advice during this conversation for leaders of both small and large organizations. Don’t miss it.  Highlights from this episode Jason’s advice for those struggling with mental struggles [1:08] Concerns about the messages sent to people during the COVID pandemic [5:30] Reframing to consider the long game in our current climate [8:20] Going through the fire makes us stronger, not weaker As Jason and I spoke about the effects of the COVID pandemic, we both recognized that the financial impact on many people was only part of the equation. While financial stress can produce emotional challenges, there’s also the loss of purpose many have experienced through furloughs, layoffs, and the like. But there’s’ more to it than even that. The language used to describe the situation has sent clear messages to many, messages that their job is “non-essential” and consequently, the feeling that they may be non-essential as well. Jason is concerned about this unintended consequence of the pandemic response and is hopeful that progress with a vaccine and innovative approaches to business will provide the opportunity for many to get back to work and contribute in ways that feel meaningful to them. But he’s also encouraging people to find simple but valuable ways to be of benefit to others and tells a quick story of an opportunity he had to do exactly that. Mission matters to everyday people, not just high-performing individuals We all need to know that what we are doing in life is important. That doesn’t only have to do with our career or employment, it’s also about making a difference to other people. Leaders are in a unique position to provide such opportunities to the people they lead. Don’t try to make it earth-shattering or tremendously complex, just empower your people to do things to help them feel that they are doing something relevant and meaningful for others. And keep encouraging those you lead. Why? Because it’s becoming evident that people are losing heart because of the slog the battle against COVID has been. We were told, with all the optimism in the world, that we would ex[erience a few months of inconvenience, and then we’d be back to normal. That simply hasn’t turned out to be the case. Naturally, hope deferred is a discouraging thing, so as a leader, make it your job to encourage your team daily. Colorado Sun Daily Sun-Up: Wrongful death lawsuit targets Silverton Avalanche School & other parties, Colorado Sugar Manufacturing Company

Good Morning, Colorado, you’re listening to the Daily Sun-Up. It’s Thursday January 7th, and even though there’s a lot of turmoil right now we’re feeling lucky to start the day with you. Today - Peter Marshall was killed in an avalanche near Red Mountain Pass in 2019. His family says the school, the guide, and Backcountry Access violated a raft of laws that led to his death.  But before we begin, let’s go back in time with some Colorado history adapted from historian Derek R Everett’s book “Colorado Day by Day”: Today, we’re going back to January 1899 when, desperate for a new source of income after the collapse of silver mining, Colorado entrepreneurs gave the sweet beets a try. Investors filed to incorporate the Colorado Sugar Manufacturing Company and imported nearly 40 tons of beet seed from Germany. Now, our feature story. The family of a Longmont man killed in an avalanche safety class is now suing the guide and the local rescue group among other parties. The lawsuit is based on research, interviews and reports gathered by the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.  Marshall’s death was the first avalanche fatality of the 2018-19 season. The first ever of a student at the Silverton Avalanche School which is one of the nation’s oldest avalanche education schools.  Colorado Sun reporter Jason Blevins  is joining us today to talk more about the lawsuit. Jason thank you so much for your time, can you start off with an overview of this lawsuit and who is involved? As Jason mentioned, the lawsuit focuses on the mistakes highlighted in the avalanche report, breaking down every step taken leading up to the avalanche. The lawsuit cites several dozen failures including charges of negligence, like failing to communicate the day’s avalanche forecast, and allowing instructors to lead students “into, through and below” avalanche terrain. Jim Moss, a recreation law attorney who has spent more than 30 years working with outdoor recreation companies and clients, suspects that Marshall signed waivers releasing Silverton Avalanche School from liability in case of an accident.  Moss sees the case, if it goes to trial, hinging on the testimony of expert witnesses.  Thanks for listening. Before we go, here are a few stories that you should know about today: Four members of Colorado’s congressional delegation were in the U.S. House chambers during Wednesday's deadly riot at the Capitol. All four escaped unharmed. They described their harrowing ordeal to The Colorado Sun's Jesse Paul. You can read more at coloradosun.com. Some Colorado counties are struggling to roll out vaccination programs. But Summit County is receiving praise for its approach to distribution. Officials say the county’s drive-thru method for distributing the vaccine has received attention across the state and nationally. Mesa County's clerk has posted claims of voter fraud without providing evidence and despite assurances from election officials nationwide that the November election was safe and secure. The Daily Sentinel reports that Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters tweeted on Sunday that ballots could be counted more than once and that software used in voting machines could be manipulated. On this week’s episode of https://wehavecancershow.com/ (WE Have Cancer), Lee sits down with Jason Mendelsohn, a Stage-4 tonsil cancer survivor and HPV advocate. Jason shares his story about being diagnosed with HPV-related cancer and his journey to becoming a well-known advocate for the HPV vaccine and awareness of HPV in men.  The pair talk about the stigma surrounding the disease and how Jason has coped in the aftermath. Jason also discusses his motivation for being such an advocate and what he’s looking to do next. Guest biography:Jason Mendelsohn was diagnosed with Stage 4 tonsil cancer at 44-years-old. Now recovered, he’s on a mission to bring awareness of HPV cancer, the HPV vaccine to the world while especially trying to break the stigma of HPV in men. Table of contents:Introduction Superheroes Those that are currently or have gone through cancer and treatment are often called heroes. With a brand revolving around Superman, Lee asks Jason what he thinks about the term hero. Discomfort in talking about HPV in men With people often asking why he has no discomfort or embarrassment talking about HPV in men, Jason takes a minute to share some of the real numbers behind the disease. How do you get HPV? HPV is most often contracted by sexual transmission. As Jason notes, most men won’t ever know they had it while some men end up getting cancer decades later from it. Jason’s HPV diagnosis After finding a small lump on his neck, Jason went to the doctor thinking it was nothing serious. But a few days later, Jason was diagnosed with Stage 4 tonsil cancer. HPV awareness Jason believes he’s had a small part in raising the general consciousness about the disease through sharing his story in interviews. He believes that he’s simply doing his part to help others that might not know about it and could be saved by the vaccine. Breaking the stigma Cancer often comes with a stigma and a sense of embarrassment, especially something like HPV-related cancer due to the sexual aspect of the disease. Jason shares a story and talks about how his story helps people realize how common it is and that there’s nothing to be embarrassed by. Emotions after his HPV diagnosis While he was already a fairly emotional person with a big heart, his journey has helped Jason appreciate the little things more. He also tells a story of recording messages for his children after being diagnosed and wanting to create more memories for them. Using music to cope Jason and Lee talk about how music can be like meditation. What’s next? Jason is already spending his time lobbying on Capitol Hill and putting his energy and resources into the https://www.headandneck.org/ (Head and Neck Cancer Alliance). He’d also like to do a TED Talk to help eliminate the stigma surrounding HPV in men. So our plan was to talk about the ins and outs of detachment for this last episode of season one. But first, I wanted to start with a quick question regarding equanimity in the recovery process. Simply because I often hear of husbands saying - they want it to be equal. As Jason and I continued to dive deeper into the topic, I realized that we would need to save detachment for season two.   In this episode, we unpack the reasons behind why we believe demanding equanimity from her doesn’t work. We also discuss the reasons it can be so hard for him to not see recovery through this lens of balance and equality. We also talk about what this has looked like for us - and how long Jason had to surrender equality. And I share a bit about where I am at today with moving toward Jason and my hearts desire to love him well.   Loving what Jason said during the episode - “Trust is destroyed at her expense, trust is rebuilt at his expense.”  Would love to connect with you on Instagram - @shelley_martinkus. We get into the nitty gritty of his hunting style, searching for mature bucks in the steep mountain country. Jason has killed some big bucks in his lifetime, mostly in the big woods/mountain country of Georgia. Today we're breaking down how he keys in on certain features in these steep hills and hollers, that tend to produce the most big bucks. We talk about wind, thermals, thick cover, but most importantly... terrain. If you're from the eastern portion of the south, you've more than likely dealt with some of the same type of territory as Jason. Big woods, monotonous, bluffs... just difficult to navigate land. As Jason points out in the episode, there are certain things that you can find in these places that can produce great mature bucks if you put in the time and effort. Jason also talks about the importance of being mobile in his hunting strategy, all the way down to the type of vehicle that he drives. Speaking of which, Jason's "Vandalizer" Van is a deer killing machine! This was one great episode, and you're sure to learn something no matter what part of the country you're hunting.  Southern Ground Hunting is powered by Simple Cast.

Jason Andrews shares how his debilitating anxiety was healed instantaneously via hypnosis and how it inspired him to learn hypnosis to help others. For complete show notes, visit http://youcuredwhat.com/podcast/jasonandrewsJason Andrews is a talented online commentator, coach, and hypnotist. As a young man, he healed from his own anxiety and depression via hypnosis. After he was able to beat these conditions, he decided to learn hypnosis himself so that he could help others. He now helps others overcome social anxiety, achieve habit change, clear emotional backlogs, and more. Find out more about Jason at JasonAndrewsHypnosis.com [0:55] Joe plugs his DiseaseReversals.com project; a website of healing. [1:55] Joe introduces Jason. [2:50] Jason gives some background on his life, especially as it relates to the anxiety and depression he suffered from at a young age. His mother and her father both had suffered from anxiety and depression. Jason suffered from social anxiety. [4:20] Around the age of 15, Jason got caught up in a religious group. That group was extraordinarily skilled at persuasion and getting people to change their minds. He said this group helped many people, but it made his anxiety and depression much worse. He even suffered panic attacks. [6:00] Jason's doctor put him on anti-depressant drugs. He says it made him a lot dumber. And then his highs weren't high and his lows weren't low. [6:45] Jason tried SSRIs (think: Prozac, Zoloft, etc.). It killed his sex drive. He tried all sorts of other medications too. [8:20] Jason read Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins. [9:10] Jason learned from Ross Jeffries. Jeffries used hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to seduce women as a pick-up artist. [10:00] Jason gives a brief overview of what hypnosis is and what NLP is. [10:40] Jason worked with a mentor. [12:10] Jason's mentor, during a chat, told a story about pigs. And in the story, a big fat ugly sow was slaughtered. And at that moment, Jason's anxiety was gone forever. And Jason felt it all over his body. [14:00] This made Jason want to go all in on hypnosis. He says many movies, including the newest Star Wars movies, are full of hypnosis. Christopher Nolan movies are also hypnotic. [16:00] As Jason's anxiety was instantaneously healed, his muscles were twitching. It may have been a release of kinetically stored memories. [18:20] Jason briefly got into the Pickup Artist world. [19:00] Jason continued working with his mentor, who helped him reverse more programming he had received from the aforementioned religious group. [20:20] What type of results has Jason had working with family, friends, and paid clients (Jason works as a hypnotist and coach)? [21:40] Jason describes a client who he helped overcome social anxiety. But when he got to the end (his anxiety had "evaporated"), the client said: "By the way, how do you talk to people?" He had never learned to really talk to people because he had always been so focused on his own social anxiety. [23:50] Jason describes how he runs hypnosis sessions. [25:00] Jason provides some details on how to bring someone into a hypnotic trance. [26:05] Jason can now help people even without bringing them into a formal trance. "I don't know what just happened, but I feel better about it." [29:10] Jason shares remarkable "downstream effects" where fixing one issue fixes a bunch of peripheral issues: for instance, they might come in to relieve their overwhelm (and get help in limiting their social media usage) and they end up being able to breathe better. Or their back pain goes away. [32:00] Jason discusses the deep connection between the mind and body, and how perhaps we sometimes store traumas or stresses in the body. He says there are theories that the body may be part of the mind as opposed to being the other way around. [37:50] "This is an example of literally working with someone's metaphor but changing their actual reality. And that's really what hypnosis is all about." [40:30] Jason talks about trying to frame conversations under perspective that your conscious mind and subconscious mind are on the same team. [42:00] What is Jason's perspective on hypnosis as it relates to people thinking they are not suggestible? And as it relates to people being worried that the hypnotist will program something harmful into them? [48:30] Does Jason consider himself cured of depression and anxiety? [51:30] Now that he has improved his health, what's one thing Jason enjoys doing that he couldn't do before? [51:50] "The anxiety and depression I had were sort of the crippling kind, not the annoying kind." [53:15] Where can Jason be found online? His website is JasonAndrewsHypnosis.com. On this episode, Joe is talking about ‘Side Guys’ - Gay Men Who Enjoy Sex Without Anal Penetration with YouTuber, LGBTQ+ activist, and writer, Bradley Birkholz and Latino nurse practitioner, Jason Villarreal. Gay men are constantly referring to and defining themselves as “tops”, “bottoms”, “Verse”, Top Verse, Bottom Verse”. When they consider dating or simply hooking up, gay men typically ask the other guy what he is, as it relates to anal sex. Gay men are rigidly defined by penetrative sex. There’s so much talk and discussion about who gives and who receives. I’ve had straight people tell me that they assumed that most gay guys simply take turns. Yes, some do, but some don’t. But what if a guy isn’t a top, a bottom or even versatile? What about gay men who have never engaged in anal sex and never will, ever? What if they tried it and didn’t enjoy it and never do it again? Joe thinks they deserve a name of their own. He coined the phrase, “sides.” As Bradley says, “Love and intimacy can exist without the lens of penetration.” Sides typically struggle with tremendous feelings of shame. They secretly believe that they should be engaging in and enjoying anal sex, and that something must be wrong with them if they are not. It’s high time for sides to come out and feel proud and secure about their sexuality. As Jason says, “The more visibility there is for sides, the better.”

First, a discussion of some of Jason's recent book consumption, including; Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler and Free: The Future of a Radical Price by Chris Anderson. Next, Jason and Brandon analyze Peter Schiff's most recent video criticizing Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and QE3 (Quantitative Easing). Peter has some things right and others wrong. As Jason has pointed out in so many prior episodes, gold and silver are mediocre asset classes and shouldn't be considered 'investments' but somewhat defensive ways to save money, store wealth and keep pace with inflation.  An investment is an OFFENSIVE tool; gold and silver are only defensive tools. The real way to profit is to exploit the next housing bubble. Some of the questions covered in this episode are:  Abundance - Peter H. Diamandis & Steven Kotler 1. In what ways is the world getting better? It sure seems like there is a lot of negativity out there. 2. How will technology provide "top-tier" education to everyone on the planet, as Diamandis & Kotler mention in the book? Free - Chris Anderson 1. Chris Anderson mentions that some things can be too cheap to meter. What sort of goods is he referencing, and what is the cause of this innovation? 2. How will the big companies like Microsoft compete with the free model? 3. Who wins with "free" - businesses or consumers? 4. Will we ever get to the point where almost everything in our lives is free? Peter Schiff on QE3 1. Is the goal of QE3 to drive up asset prices? It seems to me that asset price increase in housing will only cause the illusion of wealth. 2. Why would QE3 work this time if it didn't work before? From Wounded Officer’s Initiative - “On March 26, 2001, Jason Schechterle, then a Rookie City of Phoenix Police Officer was stopped at a red light. The dispatcher calling out over his squad car, Jason in the line of duty began to respond to a possible nearby homicide. As Jason waited for the light to turn green, suddenly and unexpectedly, his Crown Victoria was struck from behind by a taxi cab driver whose car was exceeding 100 miles per hour. Jason’s car instantly burst into flames, and he sat strapped and trapped in his vehicle, burning alive in raging flames that exceeded over 1000 degrees. Crews worked feverishly to save his life, putting their own lives and risk, and after 8 long minutes, Jason was freed, only to discover that over 50 percent of his body had been engulfed in the flames. He had no skin, no face, and no resemblance of the man he use to look like. After arriving at the hospital, Doctors worked for over 7 hours to save Jason’s life. No physician believed Jason would make it through the night. He was covered in 3rd and 4th degree burns throughout his face and torso to the point that his own wife and best friend found him unrecognizable. He survived the night, and lay in a coma for 2 ½ months… and the prognosis to live much less fully recover was grave. He was never expected to talk, walk, regain his sight and function as he once had. 52 surgeries later, Jason began his long and painful recovery. Ten years later, through a series of big and small miracles, Jason now travels the country serving as a motivational speaker, sharing his story of hope and optimism.” Jason has a book written about him by author Landon J. Napoleon called ‘Burning Shield: The Jason Schechterle Story’. I had a great time talking with Jason and hope that he gives some sort of an insight for at least one person to see that police officers put their lives on the line everyday to keep people of their communities safe. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Jason Irwin Horseman & Clinician Jason Irwin is a horse trainer and clinician in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada.  I received an email saying that I needed to interview Jason.  There are a lot of very talented horse trainers out there and many of them don’t get the attention they deserve.  I think Jason is one of them.  Jason and I spoke on the phone and I discovered that last year they invited him to the big Equine Affaire Shows on the east coast.  The Western States Horse Expo scheduled him to present in June.  Of course, everyone’s 2020 schedule got thrown into the tumbler.  Jason, along with his wife Bronwyn, hold horsemanship clinics throughout the year.   Jason Irwin's love affair with horses began with his Dad at their horse and livestock, NorthStar Livestock.  It was there he learned how to pick up horses in the States, bring them home to Canada, train, then sell them.  Jason developed his eye for a horse pretty enough to catch your eye and willing enough to accept training.  Jason worked with hundreds of horses.  He learned from books, tapes, and practical experience.  As Jason put it, "I could read about a technique in one of the horse magazines and take it out the next day and try it on 10 different horses.  You find out quick what works and what doesn't." 034: The War for Fundraising Talent (Jason Lewis)SUMMARYFundraising is on every nonprofit leader’s mind right now, and perhaps there is no one better to talk about that topic than Jason Lewis, who literally wrote a book about the topic, The War for Fundraising Talent. As Jason and I discuss, many of the topics he raised in the book are even more relevant right now. Why do so many organizations rely on “arms-length” fundraising tactics, and what can they do about it now? Why are more executive directors declining to accept “overwhelming” job descriptions? What can board members and executive directors do in an uncertain planning environment? What can we expect from the next generation of nonprofit leaders? We tackle these questions and much more in this episode! ABOUT JASONJason is the Founder of Responsive Fundraising, and questions many of our sector’s deeply engrained beliefs and assumptions of how fundraising really works. Whether writing, speaking or training, Jason challenges the prevailing wisdom about fundraising practices, hiring decisions, and donor behavior. Jason earned his M.S. in Nonprofit Management at Eastern University in 2010 and in 2014 graduated from the College of Executive Coaching. In addition to consulting, Jason teaches nonprofit management and social entrepreneurship at York College of Pennsylvania. Jason's first book, The War for Fundraising Talent, was an honest yet hopeful critique of professional fundraising, intended especially for small shops that find it difficult to consistently achieve their fundraising goals. Jason's forthcoming book, Fundraising in an Unpredictable World, will be available this summer.EPISODE TOPICS & RESOURCESJason’s book The War for Fundraising TalentAlvin Roth’s book Who Gets What - and WhyJeremy Heimans & Henry Timms' book New Power: How Power Works in Our Hyperconnected World

Today is Saturday, but it always kind of feels like Saturday around here in the Morales house now that we've been in quarantine for 41 days! Anyway, earlier this week we had almost a whole day that our power was out. As Jason and I swapped out who could use the internet hotspot to work, I took the kids up to the studio to play and I turned on the mic for a quick little interview fun. Crazy enough, my recording gear is all battery powered - lucky you! I know this is silly, but one of the sweetest things about being in quarantine as a family is watching the friendship between my two toddlers grow. Brighten is 3.5 years old and Grady is 16 months old. I saw a friend post a photo of her kids recently that said, "They became friends when they were all they had." I think that is so true for my kids as well. So, silly as it may be, I love that I am able to capture these sweet moments as a little snapshot of this time together. His background is in mechanical engineering and sales; over the course of his career, he's helped bring hundreds of new products to market. Categories of product the Klugonyx Group has worked on include baby and toy, kitchen, outdoor and sports, home, pet, and consumer electronics. He started his company doing engineering work for clients, pulling in industrial designers when needed. Eventually, over time, he slowly brought on more and more team members. Today he has engineers, industrial designers, and project managers. They help shape initial ideas from sketches, then 3D modeling work, problem solving, and more prototyping. In this interview, inventRight cofounder Stephen Key asks Jason about how he works with independent inventors and companies to prototype their ideas to life. Jason's partner Nate will then get factory quotes and start readying for production, like identifying manufacturers, all the way through to quality control. Jason says, "We can do it." Stephen and Jason discuss the design process, including taking clients through the idea and asking, is this as well-thought out as it could be? Is there more to it? Are there too many features? These are hugely important questions that needed to be answered! They also discuss intellectual property, how Jason's firm helps save inventors time and money, pricing, production, overseas manufacturing, and more. As Jason puts it, they how to plow through walls. In the western culture of Christianity when we think about idols. What comes to mind most of the time it's wood, clay, stone, or even a budda doll the list can go on. Instead of focusing on the idols, we see let us focus on the idols of our hearts. Who better to talk to about that than Jason “Smiley” Abrams. Jason "Smiley" Abrams has been actively involved in ministry since 2002 initially discipled by his late father, Andy Abrams. God changed his name to Smiley.  As a child, Jason was very self-righteous and judgmental. Although he grew up in the church, he really did not know Jesus. However, it was God's grace that allowed him to witness the suffering of his father who was diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, failed kidneys, and blindness. As Jason watched his father endure pain daily, he saw him choose unconditional peace from an intimacy with Jesus. During that time, Jason decided to pursue this Jesus who could give away true peace! As Jason encounter the one true God, he found internal joy that he began expressing outwardly by wearing all yellow attire and smiley faces every day from middle school until the end of college. Eventually, everyone began calling him Smiley. "God calls me Smiley, so you can too." Smiley currently serves as an Associate Area Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship primarily focused in the Jackson, MS metro area on 4 campuses (JSU, MC, Millsaps, & Belhaven) as well as the National Evangelism Champion for Black Campus Ministries. He also serves on the pastoral team at Common Ground Church and is licensed with the Covenant Evangelical Church. He is a dynamic public speaker, has planned and implemented multiple conferences across nation, inductive bible study trainer and has been preaching since 2004. Smiley has received a Bachelor's of Arts in Speech Communication with minors in Graphic Design and French from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also obtained a Certification in Nonprofit Management, and a Certification in Theological Studies. Smiley completed a Master's of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary.   He has written over 300 spoken word poems and  released his first spoken word album - 3:13 AM (now available on iTunes). Smiley has served on the Performing Acts Team for IV's national student conference Urbana - performing on stage for over 16,000 people. He is a graphic designer, voice actor, visual artist, and music producer. He has been a voice actor for multiple web tv series and served as the Special Effects Supervisor for his brother's animated/puppetry feature film - Josh's Journal.  Smiley probably loves Star Trek (TNG and Voyager) just as much as he loves Star Wars. He loves DC tv shows as much as he loves Marvel movies. He often tinkers with hardware in his free time. He is a lifetime learner. His favorite color is yellow. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/augustine-madiebo/support

As mentioned in prior episodes, a great company goes beyond great culture. While building a quality working environment is important, it can’t happen without teamwork, trust, and transparency. The question is: How are these factors effectively integrated? As Jason explains, the more an organization priorities honesty, the more it can embrace the psychological safety behind it. By pursuing this particular outcome, a business can improve its approach to teamwork, communication, and success overall.

OVERVIEW: In this episode of Fitness & Finance, Jason Priest, Founder of Dad Bod Health and a Registered Nurse, shares how he chose to change his pattern of bad health decisions, how nursing school led to his entrepreneurial journey, the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone and more.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: What was Jason Priest’s upbringing like?  Jason’s experiences watching his mother’s substance abuse led to his own drug addiction.    Jason ended up working in nutrition and corporate wellness because he was tired of being surrounded by death as an ICU nurse.  How did Jason going to nursing school help to get him out of the drug and rave scenes?  Working the overnight shift as a nurse—staying up all night, eating fast food, and drinking heavily—caused Jason to gain a lot of weight.  What are Jason’s “four core pillars of health” and where should you start?  As Jason started working out again, it was the power of the fitness community that kept him going with accountability and encouragement.  No one has motivation when they first start to work out; you have to create it yourself.  To get past a fitness plateau, realize that a huge portion of the changes your body is experiencing is your internal health, not your external appearance.  Don’t become complacent with your current routine; always strive to step outside your comfort zone.  Jason began his business as a private coach, but realized he wanted to help more people than he was able to privately, so he started the Man Up Community.     KEY POINTS: Wellness isn’t only about fitness, but also about your nutrition, sleep, and stress management.  A commitment to your health comes before motivation does, so keep going.      Accountability and community have been Jason’s biggest motivators in his health and wellness journey.  TWEETABLE QUOTES: “I never really liked school, and I didn’t want to commit to something for 4 years or 8 years that I didn’t have the heart for. This was way before I even thought about starting a business.” –Jason Priest “I’m big on what I consider the 4 core pillars of health. I’m a big proponent of dialing in your sleep and getting a strict sleep schedule, and then dialing in your stress management…If you prioritize those two things first, the path becomes much easier.” –Jason Priest  RESOURCES MENTIONED:  Schedule a time to talk with Erik.
