That Ghostface killer just won't go away because while he's stacking bodies in these Scream movies, he's also stacking large stacks of cash for the movie studio. Therefore, I now present you “Scream 7”, the latest in the blood-soaked, big bucks franchise, started way back in 1996. In these movies, we're now in the era where the final girl from most of the early Scream movies, Neve Campbell as Sydney Prescott, has had movies and books written about Ghostface killers terrorizing her. She's a celebrity and she's back as the main character in this latest installment. Joining her from the 1996 movie cast is Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers, the former news reporter and now media personality. A major new player introduced in “Scream 7” is Sydney's daughter, Tatum, played by Isabel May and she's the typical rebellious, moody teenager girl who annoys her Mom. Throughout the course of this movie, she learns she needs her Mom, and her experience with the psycho killer in the mask and black robe. Will mother and daughter survive this movie? Is it worth going to the theater to find out? Find out in this episode of Movies Merica! “Scream 7” also stars Jasmin Savoy-Brown, Mason Gooding, Joel McHale, McKenna Grace, Anna Camp, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Asa Germann, Matthew Lillard, Kraig Dane, Ethan Embry and Mark Consuelos. Support the showFeel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

Has Matthew Lillard risen from the dead to stalk veteran survivors like Courtney Cox, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown in a brand new suburbia?  And why did O.G. screenwriter Kevin Williamson take another stab at directing a scary movie after his debut, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, nearly killed his career?  Join true crime junkies Marjorie, Arnie, and Stuart as they clean the blade of another postmodern slasher installment.

Welp, here we go. Scream 7, which comes from franchise creator Kevin Williamson and stars the queen of final girls herself Neve Campbell, is now out in cinemas. Listen, I don't know about you but I'm just glad we can all move on from this movie now that it's finally out. It's a shame because the original Scream is - and always will be - my favorite horror movie of all-time; it was inventive and broke the genre it ways that were needed in 1996 while still showing such love and admiration from it. Scream 7 loses the plot and does not understand what made this franchise great in the first place... and no, I'm not just hating on it because of dumb actions made by studio executives. Listen on to here why Scream 7 is the first truly terrible Scream movie.Scream 7:Directed by: Kevin WilliamsonWritten by: Kevin Williamson and Guy BusickStory by: James Vanderbilt & Guy BusickBased on characters created by: Kevin WilliamsonProduced by: Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, James VanderbiltExecutive Producers: Gary Barber, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillet, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Ben Fast, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, Ben Ormand, Chris Stone, Chad Villella, Kevin WilliamsonMusic by: Marco BeltramiDirector of Photography: Ramsey NickellEdited by: Jim PageCasting by: Rich DeliaProduction Design by: John CollinsCostume Design by: Leigh LeverettCast: Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Roger L. New cast members include Isabel May, Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, and Joel McHale. Following the exit of "Scream" (2022) and "Scream VI" directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett in August 2023, Christopher Landon was hired to direct the film. However, the film underwent creative retooling after the firing of star Melissa Barrera and the departure of Jenna Ortega in late 2023, with Landon also leaving the project. In March 2024, Campbell confirmed her return to the franchise after being absent from the last film, with series creator Kevin Williamson hired to direct the film after serving as writer and producer on the early films in the series. This latest entry follows a new Ghostface killer who targets Sidney Prescott's daughter. After all the controversy surrounding its production, what did we think of the final product? Yellowjackets Interview: Tawny Cypress Teases the Power of Tai & Van's Bond in Season 3

[Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Yellowjackets, Season 3, Episode 4, "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis."]Tawny Cypress is an absolute powerhouse on Yellowjackets. In fact, Cypress was so immediately captivating in the hit Showtime and Paramount+ series that I frequently caught myself wondering, how have we not been getting a steady stream of Tawny content for years now? Cypress' first main role on a TV series was playing Simone Deveaux in Heroes, but that run only lasted one season. After that, it was Unforgettable on CBS, but Cypress jumped into that one when the show was already in its second season. Next up was a main role in The Blacklist: Redemption, but again, that foundation had already been built pror to Cypress' involvement because, of course, it was a The Blacklist spin-off. Cypress needed more, and she deserved more. In fact, she wished for just that. “I want a really good show. I want the best job I've ever had, and I want it to be good, and I want it to last.” That wish was granted. It was Yellowjackets.Cypress stars as the present day version of Taissa Turner, played in the 90s by past Ladies Night guest Jasmin Savoy Brown. At the start of the series, Cypress' Taissa is running to become a New Jersey state senator. However, when her past in the wilderness catches up with her, Taissa starts to unravel, threatening her chances of winning the election. Shocking many, including herself, Tai wins the race, but at that point it's too late. The wilderness has firmly dug its claws back into the surviving Yellowjackets, reuniting Taissa with Van (Lauren Ambrose), and then bringing the whole (?) group back together at Lottie's (Simone Kessell) compound to sort through the wealth of complications the 1996 plane crash left them with as adults. Their get-together concludes with an especially twisted hunt, one that results in Natalie's (Juliette Lewis) demise. When Season 3 kicks off, forget politics. Taissa has narrowed her focus to one thing and one thing only, keeping Van alive - even if she has to turn to the wilderness to do so.With Yellowjackets Season 3, Episodes 1-4 now available to stream on Paramount+, Cypress swung by the Collider Ladies Night studio to discuss her journey to Yellowjackets, and offer some insight into the most powerful and cryptic moments of Season 3 thus far. Showtime's Yellowjackets is really two shows in one. One is about a group of '90s teenage plane crash survivors, and the other follows them now. The trick is finding that balance between the actors playing the same characters. “Casting just did an excellent job. They found people with similar essences,” says Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays the younger version of Taissa. “If anyone has a harder job, it's [Tawny Cypress, who plays Taissa's older self], because technically, she has to play to who her younger person is, me.” Brown admits it's “intimidating” to have the modern-day characters played by greats like Cypress, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and Melanie Lynskey. “All of them make it so easy. There's no one that's snobby or diva or rude.” And Brown, who can also be seen in the upcoming Scream 7—“I'm really honored to be playing the first out queer character in that franchise's history”—is most aware how special this moment is. “I'm really grateful, I get to work with people who've been doing this for a long time, and all of them happen to be really kind.” See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Scream 7 directed by Kevin Williamson, starring Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, is now two weeks into production. Last week, a bombshell was dropped when it was announced that Patrick Dempsey will not play Sidney's husband in Scream 7. Sidney's husband will not be Mark Kincaid but rather a new character named Mark Evans played by Joel McHale. Ryan discusses these dynamics as well as the return of Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks. Then, Ryan is joined by Justin McArthur to discuss predictions for Scream 7. Ryan and Justin outline their predictions for which characters (and actors) will survive and die in Scream 7, as well as who is the killer or in the opening scene. His advertising background, the central role that synesthesia atmospherically plays in Sound of Violence, revolving the story around a protagonist who's both sympathetic and monstrous, and the visceral execution of the harp scene comprise a few of the talking points for this conversation. If you're a frequent Collider Ladies Night viewer/reader/listener, you're likely well aware of my Yellowjackets obsession. I've been lucky enough to welcome many Yellowjackets cast members to the show, including Christina Ricci and Jasmin Savoy Brown, but there's a certain someone who I was extremely disappointed to have missed out on while she was on the show — Ella Purnell. However, the time has finally come. Not only did I get the opportunity to talk a little Yellowjackets with Purnell, but we also got to celebrate yet another exceptional show of hers, Prime Video's Fallout.Purnell plays Lucy in the series adaptation of the hugely popular Bethesda game. She's a vault dweller living safe and sound in Vault 33. They've got food, water, and a kind community with a neighborly vibe. Above ground, however, it's the exact opposite. 219 years since nuclear bombs decimated the surface, everyone else is just trying to survive in an apocalyptic wasteland with little to no rules or morals. In an effort to find her father (Kyle MacLachlan), Lucy opts to do the unthinkable, leave the comfort of sheltered vault life behind to venture out into the ruthless outside world. In celebration of Fallout's big debut on Prime Video, Purnell joined me for a Ladies Night conversation to recap her journey in film and television thus far, and discuss how her career priorities have changed over the years. Jasmin Savoy Brown's been racking up impressive film and television credits for quite some time, but she skyrocketed to the top of the Collider Ladies Night guest bucket list in January 2022 courtesy of Scream.Yes, there are many pre-Scream titles of Brown's I'd highly recommend — The Leftovers, Laggies, and Sound of Violence being major standouts — but Brown carries one particular scene in Scream that quickly became a favorite scene of the franchise, and of all-time — the scene in which Mindy explains the rules of the new movie. It's brilliant writing, but it's also dialogue that only works in the hands of the most adept performer, someone who's able to play into the comedic meta nature of the franchise while also respecting the fact that the series has amassed a slew of diehard fans. “To some people, the original is their favorite thing in the world, the movie that made them love horror, that mom or dad showed them when they were 10 that bonded them together.” That right there is me, and Brown delivers that dialogue in a way that's both playful and reverential, and also sparks a feeling that very few scenes achieve; it suddenly feels like the whole world's melted away and Mindy is talking directly to you.Brown cemented her place on the Collider Ladies Night guest bucket list even further with Yellowjackets. In an ensemble packed with top-notch talent, Brown shines via Taissa's determination and tenacity, and also the infectious love and warmth between her and Van (Liv Hewson). As things get darker (and colder) in Season 2, Brown soars while exploring the physical and emotional complexity of Tai's situation, how it's impacting her relationship with Van, her place in the group, and the person she's becoming.Want yet another reason Brown's a must-have guest on Collider Ladies Night? Since skyrocketing in Hollywood via Scream and Yellowjackets, she's using her ever-growing reach and platform to encourage positive representation. Brown's a true force in this business, and one that's changing it for the better, making her the ideal Collider Ladies Night guest. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
