“Trilogies are all about going back to the beginning and discovering something that wasn't true from the get-go. Godfather, Jedi, all revealed something we thought was true that wasn't true.” We watched “Scream 3” with our friend, author Wesley Thomas, and we've all been seriously considering getting bangs. Our friends from Woodsboro are back, and yet again, someone is trying to un-alive everyone in Sidney Prescott's (Neve Campbell) orbit. Yes, Sid is living way off in the canyons answering a help line and dipping her own candles or whatever, but there's a NEW fiend in the Ghostface mask, and this time they have a comically oversized voice-changing device! In a meta turn (in an already mega-meta franchise), we are on the set of Stab 3, and the cast are being taken out one by one. We get a stellar camp performance from Parker Posey, pre-Dr. McDreamy Patrick Dempsey, and the debut of the hairstyle that launched 1000 memes— the Gale Weathers iconic “Scream 3” bangs. In the words of mega stylist Law Roach… “Horror Queen.” Thanks for listening all season and we'll be back with fresh episodes before you know it! Grab your favorite 90s nostalgia snack and lock the doors—this week, Jackie and Danielle wrap up their Scream franchise journey with Scream 3! Joined by returning guest Lia from the Ashley and Jessie Cast, the trio dives into the Hollywood chaos of Ghostface's latest rampage on the set of Stab 3. From a hilariously meta movie-within-a-movie premise to the genius of Parker Posey as the over-the-top Jennifer Jolie, there's no shortage of laughs, chills, and wild theories. Plus, they unpack the film's turbulent production history, including rewrites, fake scripts, and... the most infamous bangs in cinematic history. The episode also tackles the deeper themes of the Scream series—trauma, resilience, and why Gale Weathers' bold fashion choices deserve their own award. With plenty of behind-the-scenes tidbits, like Wes Craven's stand for slasher gore and the almost-return of Matthew Lillard's Stu, this discussion is a love letter to horror fans.  ·Season 4 Episode 4· — No More Late Fees  https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com 909-601-NMLF (6653) — Follow Us on Social: Instagram https://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees  TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees  Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefees Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees  Twitter https://x.com/NoMoreLateFees  — CONQUERing myconquering.com 10% Off Code: JACKIE10 — NostaBeauty https://nostabeauty.com  20% Off Code: NMLF Previous Episodes: Pleasantville: https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/pleasantville TV Shows on the Big Screen with Lia: https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/tv-shows-on-the-big-screen-with-lia

Movie of the Year: 1996Scream (feat. Pete from Marvel Movie Minute!)In the latest episode of the Movie of the Year podcast, the panel takes a deep dive into Wes Craven's 1996 genre-defining film, Scream. A landmark in horror cinema, Scream reinvigorated the slasher genre by blending suspense with self-aware satire. This episode of the podcast explores why Scream still resonates with audiences and how it redefined the horror landscape. With guest star Pete from The Marvel Movie Minute, the discussion ranges from the brilliance of Wes Craven's direction to the impressive acting of the cast and the motivations behind the film's creation. Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or a casual moviegoer, this episode is packed with insights that shed new light on one of the most iconic films of the 90s.Wes Craven Rewriting Horror with ScreamWes Craven's Scream did more than entertain; it rewrote the rules of horror. The Movie of the Year podcast hosts explore how Craven took the slasher film, a genre in decline by the mid-90s, and injected it with fresh energy. The episode highlights Craven's clever use of meta-commentary, allowing characters in the film to reference horror clichés while still getting caught in them. This self-awareness made Scream stand out, giving it a unique edge that both honored and subverted the genre's conventions.Craven's use of humor alongside genuine horror is a major talking point. The panel discusses how Scream walked a fine line between parody and suspense, ensuring that the scares never felt cheap despite the film's satirical tone. By rewriting the narrative rules, Craven breathed new life into a genre that had become predictable, paving the way for a new wave of horror films. The Acting Skills of the Cast of the Scream! The Movie of the Year episode doesn't shy away from celebrating the incredible performances that helped make Scream a classic. Neve Campbell's portrayal of Sidney Prescott, the film's resilient final girl, takes center stage in the discussion. The hosts praise Campbell for bringing depth to a character that could have been just another slasher movie victim. Sidney's evolution from a vulnerable teenager to an empowered survivor is one of the reasons Scream became more than a typical horror film.Courteney Cox's performance as the ambitious journalist Gale Weathers is another highlight. Cox brought a sharp edge to her role, crafting a character who was ruthless yet likable. The panel also takes time to recognize David Arquette's quirky portrayal of Dewey, the well-meaning but often bumbling deputy. These performances helped establish Scream's balance of humor and horror, keeping the film both entertaining and terrifying.Guest Star: Pete from The Marvel Movie MinuteIn this episode, Pete, co-host of the Marvel Movie Minute podcast, joins the discussion with his unique perspective on Scream. Known for analyzing superhero movies, Pete draws intriguing comparisons between Scream and the modern superhero genre, particularly how both have embraced meta-narratives in recent years. Pete praises the cast, especially Matthew Lillard as Stu, for adding unpredictable energy to the film. He also appreciates how Skeet Ulrich keeps viewers on edge with his portrayal of Billy, a character whose motivations remain unclear until the climactic reveal.Pete brings a fresh voice to the episode, offering valuable insights into how Scream's characters and story structure continue to influence filmmakers today. His enthusiasm for film analysis helps tie together key elements of why Scream remains a standout in modern cinema. The Motives of MoviemakingA recurring theme in this Movie of the...

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite fictional Universes Florence Pugh tempted the ire of Marvel Studios' infamous snipers, when she shared a video tour of the Thunderbolts set via social media last week. Though the video was clearly staged and was sparse on reveals and details, it did give us our first official look at Yelena Belova's new combat-ready getup. A clear departure from Marvel's typical airtight protocol. Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire enjoyed a $194 million global debut last week, enough to place it as the third highest grossing film of the year after just one weekend of release. The movie is the fifth film in Legendary's MonsterVerse franchise, which includes the recent Apple TV Plus series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Though not connected to recent Oscar winner, Godzilla: Minus One, this opening clearly shows a renewed interest in all things Godzilla. Star Trek's Kelvin Timeline, that is the Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana-led and JJ Abrams-produced films, may be getting a fourth and final film, as Steve Yockey has been added as a screenwriter. Yockey is best known for creating the Max series The Flight Attendant, starring Kaley Cuoco. Three previous screenwriters had been attached to the project, including WandaVision showrunner and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman. Star Trek hasn't been on the big screen since 2016's Star Trek: Beyond, but has enjoyed a lot of success with various streaming series. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer went two for two the last couple of weeks here on Multiverse News. Last week teasing a return of the Pirates franchise and now a possible third film in the National Treasure franchise, all during his promotion of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. While his comments were vague, they were optimistic – speaking to his confidence in an unnamed writer working on a script that only needs Nic Cage's approval. The Mandalorian and Quantumania actor Katy O'Brian has been cast in Mission: Impossible 8. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson and frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill, will adapt a new version of the acclaimed 1953 crime novel The Night of the Hunter for Universal. Final Destination Bloodlines has added to its main cast. Brec Bassinger, who starred in The CW's DC series Stargirl, Chucky actor Teo Briones and Dear Evan Hansen stage actress Kaitlyn Santa Juana, The 100 star Richard Harmon, Gotham Knights actress Anna Lore and Owen Patrick Joyner, one of the stars of Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms will all star in leading roles in the sixth installment of the franchise which is now in production. A sequel to the 2003 Disney body swap comedy Freaky Friday seems to be in the works, as Chippendale's director Nisha Ganatra has been attached and stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are currently in negotiations to return. Scream 7 looks to add another series regular after the return of Neve Campbell, with Courteney Cox in talks to reprise her role as Gale Weathers. Ezra Miller was quietly replaced by Eric Bauza for their voice role as a minor antagonist in Amazon's Invincible. Universal Pictures has postponed two Blumhouse horror films. Leigh Whannel's Wolf Man will now premiere on January 17, 2025, three months later than planned. The Woman in the Yard was removed from the schedule, but will be rescheduled. Louis Gossett Jr., the Oscar and Emmy-winning actor known for roles in Watchmen and The Punisher, has passed away at 87. He was the first Black man to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for An Officer and a Gentleman and also earned an Emmy for Roots. Chance Perdomo, who starred in the television series Gen V and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has died as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was 27. A new poster was released for Joker: Folie à Deux along with the tease for an incoming trailer on April 9 by Lady Gaga herself. The film will release on October 4.

David Llong and Neil Gregory from We Needed Roads podcast join Flixwatcher to review David's choice Scream. Scream is the first film in the Scream franchise, released in 1996 it was written by Kevin (Dawsons Creek) Williamson and directed by horror legend Wes (A Nightmare on Elm Street) Craven. It stars Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, a high school senior who receives threatening phone calls from Ghostface, a masked killer who taunts their victims before brutally stabbing them to death. It also stars as fellow high schoolers Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan, Jamie Kennedy and Drew Barrymore, and David Arquette as local sheriff Dewey Riley with Courteney Cox as reporter Gale Weathers. Scream completely rebooted horror back in 1996, its clever deconstruction of the genre and self reflective knowingness delighted horror kids and casual fans alike. Its longevity was given a boost in 2022 with Scream and Scream VI in 2023 but Scream (1996) still retains its freshness and shock first kill. Scores for recommendability for Scream were very, very high, consistently strong scores across the other categories give a a very impressive overall rating of 4.29.   [supsystic-tables id=295 Episode #296 Crew Links Thanks to Episode #296 Crew of David Llong and Neil Gregory from We Needed Roads podcast Find their Websites online at https://twitter.com/NeededRoads and at https://linktr.ee/weneededroads Please make sure you give them some love   More about Scream For more info on Scream, you can visit Scream IMDb page here or Scream Rotten Tomatoes page here. Cotton Weary, now the host of a successful talk show, is contacted by Ghostface, who demands to know the whereabouts of Sidney Prescott. When Cotton refuses to cooperate, Ghostface breaks into his home and attacks his girlfriend Christine. Cotton rushes home, only for Ghostface to kill Christine, then Cotton. Detective Mark Kincaid contacts Gale Weathers to discuss the recent murders, prompting her to travel to Hollywood, where she finds Dewey Riley working as an adviser on the set of Stab 3, the third film in the series based on the Ghostface murders. Ghostface kills Stab 3 actress Sarah Darling, causing production of the film to be halted. The remaining cast, along with Dewey and Gale, gather at the home of Jennifer Jolie, the actress playing Gale in Stab 3. Ghostface murders her bodyguard and uses a gas leak to cause an explosion, which kills actor Tom Prinze. Sidney is living in seclusion as a crisis counselor for an abused women's hotline, fearing another killer may strike. Having uncovered Sidney's location, the killer begins taunting her by phone using a voice changer to sound like her deceased mother Maureen Prescott, forcing Sidney out of hiding and drawing her to Hollywood. Martha Meeks, the sister of Sidney's murdered friend Randy,[a] visits Sidney and the others to deliver a videotape that Randy made before his death, posthumously warning them the rules of a horror film do not apply to anyone in the third and final film of a trilogy and that any of them, including Sidney, could die. Sidney is later attacked by Ghostface at a movie set, forcing the police to withhold her at their station. Dewey, Gale, Jennifer, and the remaining cast, Angelina[b] and Tyson, attend a birthday party for Stab 3's director, Roman Bridger. When Sidney arrives, Ghostface lures her inside to where Gale and Dewey are bound and gagged. As Sidney is freeing them, Ghostface appears, though Sidney gains the upper hand using a hidden gun to fight him off. Kincaid shows up but is knocked unconscious by Ghostface. Sidney flees and hides in a secret screening room where she is discovered by Ghostface, who reveals himself as Roman, having survived being shot by wearing a bulletproof vest.

Gale Weathers and Courteney Cox made horror movie history with Scream VI. She is now the most featured horror heroine to appear consecutively in all the films in the series. She is now the only actor to appear in each film in the entry, a trend that broke for Neve Campbell and Sidney Prescott. In addition, Courteney Cox won a MTV Movie Award for her phone call and chase scene in Scream VI. And yet, this is perhaps the most controversial writing for the character in the series. Many fans have taken issue with how incomplete Gale's arc is, how regressively she is written after an epic evolution in the first five films. THANKS TO ANDREW FOR MAKING THE INTRO SONG. (soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta Scream is a 1996 American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. The film stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore. Released on December 20, it follows high school student Sidney Prescott (Campbell) and her group of friends in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, who become the targets of a mysterious killer in a Halloween costume known as Ghostface. The film satirizes the clichés of the slasher genre popularized in films such as Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th (1980), and Craven's own A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Scream was considered unique at the time of its release for featuring characters aware of real-world horror films who openly discussed the clichés that the film attempted to subvert. A year after her mother's death, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her friends started experiencing some strange phone calls. They later learned the calls were coming from a crazed serial killer, in a white faced mask and a large black robe, looking for revenge. His phone calls usually consist of many questions, the main one being: What's your favorite scary movie? Along with much scary movie trivia, ending with bloody pieces of innocent lives scattered around the small town of Woodsboro. High school student Casey Becker is home alone when she receives a phone call from an unknown person, during which they discuss horror movies. The caller turns sadistic, harassing Casey and threatening her life. He reveals that her boyfriend Steve Orth is bound and gagged outside on her patio and demands she answer questions about horror films correctly in exchange for his survival. After Casey answers a question about Friday the 13th incorrectly, Steve is murdered in front of her. Refusing to answer any further questions, Casey attempts to escape, but is cornered by someone wearing a "Ghostface" costume, who kills her before her parents arrive home to find her disemboweled corpse hanging from a tree. News media descend on the town in the wake of the murders and a police investigation begins. Teenager Sidney Prescott struggles with the upcoming first anniversary of her mother Maureen's rape and murder, while a news reporter, Gale Weathers, whom Sidney despises, arrives as a press member. Gale was responsible for spreading rumors and conspiracy theories about Maureen's death, insinuating that the imprisoned Cotton Weary, who was tried and convicted of Maureen's rape and murder, was not responsible for the crime. That night, while waiting at home for her best friend Tatum Riley's arrival, Sidney gets a taunting phone call and is attacked by Ghostface. Sidney's boyfriend Billy Loomis arrives immediately after the killer flees. When he drops his cell phone, Sidney suspects him of making the call and runs off. Billy is placed under police custody, but later, at Tatum's house, Sidney receives another ominous call.

One year after the Scream franchise returned with its 5th installment — which your hosts were full supporters of by the end — chapter 6 has arrived to officially mark the beginning of the Radio Silence era of the franchise. Yes, nü Scream was directed by the duo of Gillette and Bettinelli-Olpin, but the need to merge the original run of the franchise with its new class made it a kind of hybrid between Craven and the new guys. And with the tough work of an origin story out of the way, VI is able to soar exciting heights and, most importantly, really let Sam and Jordan feel like they're back hanging out with their Woodsboro friends again. Jenna Ortega is an irrefutable star. Melissa Barrera is the Sam she was meant to be. The twins are a total joy. Kirby is back, and the Core 4 are officially the new Ghost(face) Busters. In the final episode of SCREAM with Ryan C. Showers in the year of 2022, Ryan has a jammed packed show. First, Ryan covers additional thoughts about the “Scream VI” Teaser Trailer with Joey Vallese. Ryan and Joey additionally muse about Courteney Cox's work as Gale Weathers and her role as a Scream Queen in the horror genre. In the second half of the episode, which is available exclusively for Patreon subscribers, Ryan is joined by Ryan Young and Amar Karim for a Ryan2 conversation about Sarah Michelle Gellar. Most people know her as the 1990s Scream Queen (Cici Cooper, Helen Shivers) or as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But there is so much more accomplished acting work to her career, many of which Scream fans may not know about. Ryan, Ryan, and Amar evaluate every project in Sarah Michelle Gellar's filmography. Ryan encourages horror fans who are excited for return to TV in “Wolf Pack” this January to utilize free time exploring her lesser-known films, such as “Veronika Decides to Die” (drama), “The Air I Breathe” (drama), “The Return” (genre/thriller), “Possession” (genre/thriller), “Suburban Girl (romantic comedy), and “Southland Tales” (genre/science fiction). The teaser trailer for “Scream VI” (official title) was released Wednesday, December 14, after months of anticipation and speculation. Unlike the trailer for “Scream” (2022), this was brief, vague, and only contained a handful of cast members in one sequence. The new Woodsboro survivors (Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding Jr., and Jasmin Savoy Brown) are stalked on a New York City subway on Halloween night. The trailer does not feature Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers or Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed. Join Ryan and a group of Patreons, including Amar Karim, Ryan Young, Cassi Grachien, Roy Garza and Jake Lubbehusen for reactions and predictions. "Scream" has always been a franchise of final girls. Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers are two of the most consistent, quality characters in any horror franchise of all time. They are legendary for not having one, uninterrupted, consecutive character arc without their storyline ever. Most "Scream" fans assume they are the final girls of all final girls. In today's episode, the Showersheads put the Scream Queens up against the likes of the other top tier final girls in the cinematic landscape: Laurie Strode from "Halloween," Ellen Ripley from "Alien," and Nancy Thompson from "A Nightmare on Elm Street." In addition, each of the Patreon guests highlights one other final girl that stands out as special to their brand of horror. To conclude the episode, Ryan is joined by Michael Schwartz to briefly discuss and review Todd Field's new film “Tar” starring Cate Blanchett.
