STEWART WADE From a young age, Stewart Wade knew he wanted to tell stories. He performed skits in the backyard for his captive parents and friends, and attempted his first novel at age ten.  A bit later, Stewart tried his hand at poetry, short stories, and playwriting, ultimately getting a Master's degree in Theater, Film and Television from UCLA.    After a few years in the Hollywood trenches, Stewart wrote and directed his first feature film, Coffee Date, starring Wilson Cruz, Jonathan Silverman,  Sally Kirkland, Elaine Hendrix, Jason Stuart, and Debbie Gibson. The movie garnered numerous awards and received a limited theatrical release, ultimately playing in rotation for a year on MTV's LOGO channel. His next movie, Tru Loved, starred Najarra Townsend and Jake Abel, and featured Jasmine Guy, Alexandra Paul, Alec Mapa, Cynda Williams, Bruce Vilanch, Nichelle Nichols, Vernon Wells -- and Jane Lynch. Jason Stuart and Mitch Hara talk with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about the second season of their must-watch comedy series “Smothered” currently available on all major streaming services including Amazon, Apple, DirecTV and Revry. SoCal audiences have known comedian Jason Stuart for a long time. Popping up at gay events, emceeing Prides, performing stand-up at comedy clubs for gay and straight nights, making jokes on red carpets, stealing the spotlight at house parties, and flirting with boys at the bar is just a normal week for Jason. His comedy is just a part of his wildly colorful career. As an actor, he has over 265 film and TV credits to his name, from playing that funny character that always gets the zingers, to serious and even (gasp!) straight parts in films like The Birth of A Nation, to David E. Kelly's Goliath (starring Billy Bob Thornton). You never know where his signature expressions will pop up next, he is just as home acting for a major studio as he is supporting an LGBTQ web series. Jason Stuart stars in the title role in Hongyu “Neo” Li's film Hank, after Neo saw Jason's performances in the Sundance hits Tangerine and the historical drama, The Birth of a Nation. Neo's cultural background makes him sensitive to racial, gender, aging, and LGBTQ issues. Hank received a 2019 nomination for an Award at the Palm Springs International ShortFest and garnered a nomination for Best Short Film at the North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, a nomination for the Golden Angle Award for Best Short Film at the Chinese American Film Festival and the Best Dramatic Short Film at the Kansas City LGBT Film Festival. Currently Jason is the co-star, co-writer, and co-producer of the Amazon comedy Smothered along with Mitch Hara and recently completed an episode of Goliath starring Billy Bob Thornton opposite J.K. Jason Stuart is unashamedly out there, he brings humor to situations that would and do crush other people. His strength in the face of challenges is honestly earned and is written in his DNA. I dare you to listen to the story of his paternal grandmother as she fled Poland during WW2 and not get chills. He is the co-creator and co-star of the Amazon hit series Smothered. He stars alongside the bitchy Mitch Hara. The show chronicles the struggles of an unhappily married gay couple as they visit different therapists attempting to mend their relationship. It's funny. poignant and relatable. Despite some technical difficulties that left Pup sounding like she's in the bottle of a soup can, this interview is one of my favorites.
