So what's the deal with everyone suddenly having ADHD?? Today we are joined on The Hormone Hub by Jules Galloway - a naturopath, mentor, and all-around good human. Jules and her husband James were both diagnosed with ADHD last year and Jules has recently wrapped up an Australia-wide tour presenting on Adult ADHD to natural health practitioners, and I can say one of the most interesting educational seminars I've been to in a long time! Fun fact… ADHD is not a deficit, nor is it a disorder. Some brains are just wired differently. In this episode Jules and I talk about how ADHD presents in adults, and how it can vary particularly in women. We look at why ADHD often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for decades and how the current increase in diagnosis is actually a catch-up of missed cases due more to an increase in awareness and a better understanding of the different ways it can present. Many women are actually able to self-diagnose (unofficially) after sitting in on their kid's assessment and mentally tick the boxes for themselves! So if you suspect you may have a “spicy brain” this episode is for you! You can tune into Jules and James Late Diagnosis ADHD podcast HERE: https://latediagnosisadhd.com/

This week I invite my friend and colleague Jules Galloway, naturopath & herbalist onto the show to discuss our journeys in late diagnosis ADHD this past year. We don't have all the answers. There aren't protocols we're sharing or ways of ‘getting rid of the symptoms' but it's an exploration of why we both chose to get diagnosed, some of the things we've been exploring, thinking and feeling as we've looked back at our lives, and where we've arrived in places - also admitting there's still so much to unpack. I will also record a personal show in a couple of weeks with audience questions that have come from Instagram and that will come from the community once you've listened to this one. Jules and per husband James Galloway, also host a podcast called LD ADHD which you can go and explore. Please do get the support you need - life is much better when we know and accept ourselves and also feel empowered to change what we can for the better, through support, therapies and various other tools. On today's episode we are talking sleep - burnout and fatigue with naturopath Jules Galloway. With 62% of Australian workers reported being burned out it is an area that we need to delve into and uncover what is driving this rise of burnout and fatigue and how can we try to reverse this. Sleep plays such a big role in this landscape and it is the ongoing quest to balance these two parts to reduce burnout and fatigue and help people live in optimal health and wellness through great sleep. If you find yourself continuously waking in the morning and feeling un-refreshed or like you have been hit by a bus, then you might find some golden nuggets in this chat. The only podcast you need to shake you into caring for yourself BEFORE it's too late... This week I chat with Jules from Parks Ave Dispensery in Byron Bay, NSW, Australia. My coach, Hayley Carr connected me with my Naturopath, Jules in an effort to help me sleep in the years following postpartum. What I learned about myself during this time shook me to my core so much so, that I started incorporating her into my cost of doing business because I realised when I loved and cared for myself mentally and physicially (my body) I showed up on a completely different playing field with my clients that allowed me to show up 10x more powerful than what I thought I ever could. In this episode, Jules talks about adrenal fatigue and the difference between running on adrenaline and cortisol, and what that does to our physical bodies as shift workers. Jules helps her clients live healthy lives and even lends her time to the organisation, Involvement Volunteers International, helping bring better health to underprivileged countries.I hope you enjoy Jules story as much as I did!
As we are prompted by COVID-19 rather firmly and urgently to become agile and transition to online appointments, for some Practitioners this is overwhelming and bewildering, for others like Jules Galloway, who have been running online appointments for many years, are taking it all in their stride. Jules, in fact, up until 12 months ago, only ran online appointments from her home in Byron Bay. In this week’s podcast, she generously shares her knowledge and wisdom with us so you too can smoothly set yourself up for supporting your patients in the future. You will see just how straightforward it is.
In this episode we have a very candid reveal about the sneaky parts of business that have practitioners well on the way to burnout, and its things you may not even notice. Jules Galloway is a passionate naturopath, speaker, and podcaster. Health wasn't always Jules' priority. She lived a party lifestyle for over a decade, and later threw herself into her career to the point of burnout.. But when it began to take its toll on her mind and body, she ditched the busy inner city life for a fresh start in the Byron Bay hinterland. Diagnosed with pyrrole disorder, adrenal issues and a couple of pesky gene mutations thrown in for good measure, Jules had to learn the importance of nourishing herself - using wholefoods, supplements, happiness, gratitude and a good dose of humour. With over 10 years of clinical experience and an interest in complex cases and functional medicine, Jules has made it her mission to help exhausted, busy women find their shine again. She's guided hundreds of people through her eCourses, and also sees clients individually - mostly online. Her podcast gets thousands of downloads every month and has been in the top 10 in the iTunes charts. Jules is also the Fiji Nutrition Coordinator for Involvement Volunteers International, and runs a public health and diabetes prevention program, taking teams of medical and nutrition volunteers to both the mainland and remote areas of Fiji 4 times per year. When she's not helping her tribe to become healthier, Jules can be found surfing, hanging out with her husband, adopting (yet more) rescue dogs, doing yoga and pilates, or walking the famous Byron Bay lighthouse track. You can find Jules at http://julesgalloway.com Jules will be gracing our NatEx 2020 stage sharing her wisdom too https://www.tammyguest.com/natupreneur-experience/

If you feel disconnected from your partner OR struggle with recurring arguments. If you find yourself replaying the same patterns in relationships OR if you wish you could feel more confident with sex and your body … then this episode is for YOU. Recently I was interviewed by Naturopath Jules Galloway as part of her podcast, Shiny Healthy You, in what has jokingly been labelled her Vag series! We stepped away from discussing lady bits to delve more into relationships. Whether you’re single, or in a relationship, there will be plenty of “aha” moments! We talk about what to do if your partner wants more sex… and you’re too exhausted to say yes If you’re feeling up for it… but you’re not getting the kind of attention and desire that you want from your partner to reignite the spark and reconnect with your loved one to “get back on the horse” if you haven’t had sex for a reaaaaaally long time. (It can be super awkward and weird, but it doesn’t have to be!) “It’s actually really normal for there to be different desire levels for sex in a relationship.” Learn/discover: the step by step formula to rebuilding your sex life (and your relationship…yay!) how to check in with your own needs and desires, so that you can communicate better with your partner. Because sometimes our needs change over time, and we don’t even realise at first. And if you’re single, find out tips for attracting a partner that will be the right person for us, and how to stop repeating old patterns when it comes to the lovers we’re drawn to. “A partner’s desire for sex is actually a desire for connection and intimacy.” We also chat about body image, and what it means to feel happy in your body (and sexy!) as you age and as your body changes. “Once you’re naked, your partner’s just really grateful.” Hahaha! Yes, it may really be that simple! Listen in to find out why. MORE ABOUT JULES Jules Galloway is a passionate naturopath, speaker and podcaster. It has been my absolute pleasure to welcome Naturopath and all-round cool chick, Jules Galloway onto the podcast this month to talk about the connection between stress, adrenal fatigue and infertility. Jules lives in the incredible Byron Bay and works as a Naturopath. Her speciality is adrenal fatigue but Jules was great at explaining to me that adrenal fatigue is kind of like an end point to other things that can be going wrong in our bodies, so Jules is actually dealing with hormonal issues, thyroid issues, auto-immune conditions and all sorts of other gnarly chronic illnesses. As we were going through the podcast, my brain was constantly thinking 'ding!' - that's a cause of infertility, and also 'ding!' - it's like she is talking to me. Why? Because I'm exactly the same as you guys - I'm a type A. I've always been driven and worked really hard to achieve my goals (and Jules is the same!), which, for women like us, can lead to burnout really quickly. Jules shares her tips for how we can get better at stress, tweak our diet to help stop inflammation, and begin to heal.
Today we are speaking with a previous guest, Jules who was on the airwaves way back on our second ever podcast show. Jules is a naturopath of close to 15 years, based near beautiful Byron Bay. Her biggest area of interest is in helping women overcome various levels of fatigue and biochemical glitches. She even refers to her work as detective work, as many clients have already been to see other naturopaths and come to her with unresolved issues. In this episode we are talking about her incredible aid work across the globe, and how you too can make a huge difference by paying it forward. One year ago almost to the day, Jules Crowd Funded an aid trip to a refugee camp in Greece. She was totally blown away by the generosity of all those that gave to this amazing cause. She ended up traveling with a team of around 30 doctors, naturopaths, nurses and other specialists. Little did she know, she would receive a call from one of the orginisation directors, inviting her to also be involved in aid work in Fiji. However, her first thought was ‘I wonder what they need in Fiji?' Today’s guest is Jules Galloway, who lives in Australia, while working as a passionate naturopath, speaker, podcaster, and recipe creator. Jules hosts a podcast, Shiny Healthy You, and loves surfing, hanging out with her husband and elderly rescued dogs, and walking the famous Byron Bay lighthouse track. Jules recently returned from working as a volunteer at a refugee camp in Greece. She was drawn to this work and feels that her childfree entrepreneurial lifestyle allowed her the freedom to pursue that dream and fulfil that desire. Jules knows all too well the toll that unhealthy living can take on mind and body. She went through a challenging childhood and youth, and then lived a party lifestyle for over a decade. She ditched the stressful city life for a fresh start and a peaceful setting in beautiful Byron Bay. After being diagnosed with Pyrrole disorder, adrenal fatigue, and a gene mutation, Jules learned the importance of nourishing herself with whole foods, supplements, happiness, gratitude, and a good sense of humour. With 10+ years of clinical experience as a naturopath, Jules has made it her mission to help women find their SHINE again through her work and her e-courses. Do you need help finding your SHINE? Join me to hear more from Jules! What you’ll hear in this episode: How both choice and circumstance have led to a childfree, 17-year marriage. Thoughts of having children were put on the back burner until she was about 30. Six months of trying for a pregnancy, and then a hiatus to buy a house. Busy with careers, and then a diagnosis of endometriosis. The pushy doctor who said, “Don’t wait until it's too late!” More health issues for Jules: adrenal fatigue, Pyrrole disorder, hormone issues, and a gene mutation problem. The move to Byron Bay, hoping for a quieter life and restored health Perfect house (for kids), perfect yard (for kids), perfect place (for kids)—but no kids! Weighing the pros and cons of what it would take to get pregnant. How friends influence the pressure you feel to have or not have kids. Dealing with family pressure, especially from a mother-in-law who desperately wants to be a grandmother. How to cope when those little moments of grief come? Refocus on the joys and benefits of a child-free life: More time to focus on entrepreneurship. Freedom for surfing and other enjoyable activities. More time and attention to focus on husband, marriage and friendship. Never forgetting to be grateful for the freedom How Jules focuses her creative energy on a nurturing force in her business and with her clients. NOT having to decide who to focus energy on EVERY moment of EVERY day Being able to drop everything and go to a friend in need. The “Spare Auntie” who can help and support other mothers. Indirect pressure from friends. How Jules feels about parenthood in light of her personal childhood experiences. Respecting the different path and journey of every woman. Why fear of regret is NOT the best reason to decide to have a baby. Jules Galloway is a passionate naturopath, healthy foodie and wellness expert, living just 10 minutes from Byron Bay, Australia. Her mission is to help fatigued women find their shine again. This week, Alexx chats to naturopath Jules Galloway. Pyrroles disorder is something, it turns out, many of us have. Problem is, we don’t know it and Jules and I connected earlier this year when we were both diagnosed. It has been such a blessing. Also known as kryptopyrroles or pyrrole disorder, pyroluria is an inherited condition where the body makes too much of a substance known as pyrroles, during the everyday production of haemoglobin. These pyrroles bind to your vitamin B6 and zinc, causing these precious nutrients to become excreted rather than absorbed. Eventually the condition manifests as a long term zinc and B6 deficiency, which can have far-reaching consequences for both physical and mental health. Jules and I chat about treatment, identifying you’ve got it, symptoms and some of the things you can expect to improve if you do have it. It’s a great show and if you’ve ever experienced any mental health challenges or anxiety or symptoms due to these deficiencies, this is something absolutely worth tuning into. What is Pyroluria? with Jules Galloway ND A couple of months ago, Jo and her kids were tested for Pyroluria (Pyrolles Disorder), and found their levels were quite high. Pyroluria (pyrrole disorder, kryptopyrrole, kryptopyrroluria, pyrroluria, mauve factor or hemepyrrole) is a common metabolic condition that occurs when pyrrol, a key component of haemoglobin, is overproduced by Listen In The post AQJ 53: Pyroluria with Jules Galloway ND appeared first on The Wellness Couch.
Jules is a total bad-ass and we loooovee her!! She is such an inspiration and doesn't let anything stand in her way. In this episode of The Whole Circle we speak to Jules about her lack of thigh gap (I know, so incredible wrong – NOT). Who has a thigh gap anyway, certainly not either of us! Jules discusses body image and how she overcame her fears about posting an image of herself on the beach – with her thighs touching (shock, horror) and how she doesn't let her lack of thigh gap worry her anymore. Her happiness is way more important to her than body image and she wants to share that with everyone, and anyone, who will listen. Some questions we ask: Do you need scales to tell you if you're healthy or not? Does social media play a part in how we should look (or how we think we should look)? Is being 6kg overweight really that big a deal? We also discuss how stress can affect your weight and how to overcome this. Who is Jules Galloway Jules Galloway is a naturopath on a mission to help tired women find their shine again. Jules want to introduce as many people as possible to an exciting new way of eating and living. To bust through the old nutrition myths and misinformation, and teach a fresh approach to choosing the right foods. Jules Galloway, Naturopath and Vibrantly Healthy Woman and creator of the 12 week Shiny Healthy You from fatigued to fabulous 12 weeks. Jules is a qualified naturopath who spent her early years doing what most of us do and living life to the absolute limit. Unfortunately, this meant that she also was chronically unwell with a variety of niggling issues that seemed to follow one after the other. Jules was introduced by her friends to the world of natural medicine and mostly good food and decided to go and learn for herself. Over the last 10 years she has honed her philosophy down to what can only be described as simplicity itself. Put simply it is first and foremost about what you eat and the quality of that food. Listen as Jules discusses her program that helps women get back to basics, yes basics how to cook and eat really good food. We also talk about the role of stress in our lives and how that does seem to be at the center of most things that happen to our bodies. A delightful and enlightening discussion about being healthy by eating simple, unprocessed foods and lots of full-fat dairy, and the importance of managing your stress.
