This week, it's time to say goodbye. After much thought and soul searching, we have decided to no longer continue on with the show. It's been 4 years, yep we started in May 2016, and one heck of a ride! We honestly can't believe it's been that long. But if the last few years have taught us anything, it's that we have stretched ourselves way too thin and running ourselves into the ground is something we simply cannot do. We have so many new ventures in the pipeline that we're excited to bring you and we need to make room in our schedules for those. So it's not something to be sad about, it's simply a pivot to new directions. We're sure we'll interview great people along the way in the future and when we do we may just release a new episode here and there, who knows, we'll never say never! Regardless, there are over 180 episodes to revisit and sink your teeth into either via iTunes, Stitcher or listen on our website, including this final episode 183. Don't forget that each episode has its own show notes on our website which are like their own little informative blog posts too. Thank you so very much for listening along, we really appreciate it. Don't worry we aren't going anywhere, you will still see us all the time here on our socials. One chapter closes and many more new chapters open so stay tuned! We've arrived home safe and sound and our minds are still spinning from the amazing trip we just got to experience. Since our return, we have had lots of questions from people wanting us to articulate how the trip made us feel.  To be honest, it really is incredibly hard to articulate or to articulate it in a way that truly does it justice. It was definitely life-changing that's for sure. It was also very humbling.  The communities we went to were living in extreme poverty.  We have witnessed this before given we spent some of our childhood living in Papua New Guinea, so we were not as shocked by it as we perhaps should have been or as shocked as some of our travel mates were, but the thing that struck us the most was that the people in these communities were extremely happy. They don't know any different.  Living this way is their version of normal.  They have nothing to compare it to, so they make the most of what they have and live their best lives possible. Oh, my goodness, just as well we have a 7-day additive-free challenge coming up because boy oh boy had the Ling family fallen off the additive-free wagon! Guess what? It happens! Even we're not perfect. Sometimes life gets in the way and we can justify not adhering to a certain lifestyle because we're too busy. Oh, that word ‘busy'…it's a word we can use to excuse so many things in life when in actual fact even though Jo was busy, she still had time to be living additive-free, she just wasn't making it a priority. But that's life guys, warts and all. Life gets in the way and sometimes you lose focus on what's important to you, it's all part of being human. In this week's episode of The Whole Circle Podcast we talk to Sharon Collon from Calming the Chaos with The Functional Family. Sharon knew her eldest son had ADHD from very early on. Her husband has severe ADHD, so they knew what to look for. Sharon wanted to help him and her family, and what followed was 9 years of research and trialling everything she could to help her little boy. They did everything, occupational therapy, speech therapy, GAPS Diet, RPA Diet, Paleo Diet, Integrative Paediatricians, Developmental Paediatricians, Child Psychologists, cutting out all colours and preservatives, behavioural therapy and then different medications. Everything helped to a certain degree, but their home life was exhausting! Sharon began developing systems and routines to try and make their home life easier. She noticed that the more organised routine based their family became, the calmer their ADHD family members would behave. She learned that by working with a child's strengths and creating easy to understand systems you can improve how your family functions. This is how The Functional Family was born. Topics discussed: What strategies have worked for Sharon with her son? How does the ADD/ADHD brain work? How do you help kids at school with ADHD? Mindful in May is a transformative one month online mindfulness program which brings together the world's best meditation teachers, wellbeing experts and neuroscientists to teach you the tools to transform your mind towards greater well-being and happiness – all whilst giving you the chance to transform the lives of others living in poverty. The statistical data from Mindful in May that they now have shows that the people who have participated in the program, committing to 10 minutes a day of mindful meditation, benefited with: • reduced stress levels • greater positive emotions • reduced negative emotions • greater self-compassion • greater ability to focus. It's important to note that doing this meditation isn't about finding a blissful state of being for 10 minutes a day and then the remainder of your day is chaotic and overwhelming. It's actually about training your brain and the benefits of that training are going to have a ripple effect onto your everyday life. It's a much higher return on investment than simply feeling good for 10 minutes. Topics discussed: Who is Dr Elise Bialylew? What happens to our brains if we don't meditate? How can meditation help? Still wanting to get a tan without the risk of harmful UV rays, they sought the next best thing. They are honoured to have a movement of thousands of passionate, every day women – all determined to raise funds and awareness for the freedom of men, women and children held in sexual slavery across the globe. Through their fundraising with Be Hers, they continue to be amazed at the generosity of those across their community, nation and beyond. Together they continue to raise much needed funds and awareness regarding the issue of human trafficking and the need for this to be brought to the forefront of the world's attention. Whilst they may not be able to save all 48.5 million held in captivity today, they are determined to not ignore the cry of the ONE and do all they can to bring her freedom. In this week's episode of The Whole Circle Podcast we have an announcement to make! We are interrupting our normal schedule to let you guys know of the changes that are happening to our podcast show. As you, our loyal listeners for 149 episodes know (wow! Can't believe it's really that many!) we bring you an episode each week. After much careful consideration we have decided to release a podcast episode every second week. With our ever-increasing schedules, we simply can no longer fit in recording an episode a week. However, this doesn't mean we won't be providing you with valuable content weekly, actually it's to the contrary. On the other week where there won't be a podcast episode released, we will be providing you with a written blog post packed with lots of information around additives and preservatives and living an additive-free lifestyle. To simplify, one week you will receive audio, by way of podcast episode, and the other week you will receive a blog post. We haven't come to this decision lightly; however, we feel this is the best way going forward so that we can serve you best and provide you with the most valuable content, still on a weekly basis, but that is sustainable for the long term. We have had a number of requests from you guys asking us about a range of topics regarding living additive free, so by giving you a blog post every second week we can answer all these questions and give you the content that you've been requesting. Hopefully you guys understand our decision, especially given we are still going to be providing you with heaps of content weekly. LET US KNOW We love getting feedback whether it's good or bad. So, let us know what you think about this change. We'd also love for you to let us know what content you want to hear and learn more about so that we can best serve you. In this episode of The Whole Circle Podcast we discuss how you can use top quality essential oils to support you and your family during long haul trips. Tracey and her family are about to head off on a USA adventure for four weeks and, well, it got us thinking about what we can do to make the long-haul flights and time away as comfortable as possible. So, if you're about to head off on a trip, then we've got you covered in this podcast. Choosing what oils to take is like choosing your favourite child! We get it, when you go away the temptations is high to take all your oils with you. But honestly you don't need to, we subscribe to the KISS method (keep it simple silly – lol). There are some great all-round oils you can pack that can support you for a lot of different things. It's going to be hard enough deciding what clothes to pack let alone what oils. When using essential oils make sure you are getting top quality, high grade essential oils from a company you know and trust. We wholeheartedly trust doTERRA and choose to use their oils. So, let's make it easy for you and give you some inspiration.
