As the Executive Director of Kansas City Corporate Challenge, Lacey Fisher is headed into her seventh season with the organization while the Games themselves are entering their 43rd year. Although originally from western Kansas, Lacey has taken to becoming a KCMO transplant and enjoys all things Kansas City including BBQ, the Royals, and of course the Chiefs.  Lacey earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) and her Master's Degree of Leisure, Youth, & Human Services from the University of Northern Iowa.  At any given time, Lacey can be found involved in some type of competition or sporting endeavor whether it be pursuing her interest as an unlikely runner, organizing events, or watching her favorite sports teams. Memorable Quotes: “If you've been, no explanation is necessary. If you haven't, none is adequate” – Lou Holtz “We know that no one goes it alone. And that's why it's important that people have friends that go for a walk with them or they take a podcast, and maybe we're on a walk with you today or a bike ride or on your Peloton. And however you're consuming this podcast today, we're delighted to be sharing that journey with you.” “It's the people. It's always the people. And it's seeing the participants do things they've never done before, whether it's on the half marathon, one year there was a participant out there, and I'm not making this up, she was nine months pregnant!” What You'll Learn: The heart of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge and how to participate in the challenge. This Episode Includes: This episode is dedicated to our good friend Mary Elmwick who was a big influence in Dr. Robin's life. Robin shares the acronym that she wrote for Mary's funeral service in 2021: SEEDS which stands for Sight, Encouragement, Enlightenment, and Dash. Robin encourages people to live in the “dash” between the year they are born and the year they die, to live life to the fullest. Lacey Fisher shares that the Kansas City Corporate Challenge started in response to the U.S. protesting the 1980's Moscow Olympics. The mission of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge is to promote health, wellness, and camaraderie within the business community. It is the oldest and largest corporate games in the country. The idea is that they present the participants with physical endeavors designed to challenge their bodies and minds through the spirit of corporate competition. The KCCC also includes a program called “Lunch and Learns” where participants are provided sessions on everything from stress management to nutrition and even self-defense. Lacey shares a few stories from the challenge, that her favorite challenges are the races, and how corporations can register. Three Takeaways From Today's Episode: Don't go it alone – take a friend with you on a walk or listen to a podcast episode on your drive to work. Consider how you can build camaraderie in your community - maybe encourage your co-workers to sign up for a 5k together or invite a few friends over for a homemade dinner. If you're in the area encourage your workplace to join the KCCC. Mentioned In The Episode: Kansas City Corporate Challenge The Dash by Linda Ellis

Coming to you live... well, nearly live. This is a recording. We were alive and well when we recorded this, and we hope you are alive and well when you are listening to this... Anyway, welcome to the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! panel from the 2017 Kansas City Comic Con. As you may have heard, Cullen was not able to attend in person. But thanks to the wonders that are the Google machines, we were able to have Cullen join us in all of his oversized glory on the projection screens in the panel room. So you still get all three of us for the price of ... nothing! This podcast is still free to each and every one of you, our loyal listeners. On the panel, we play a Password game with the audience, we take questions from that same audience and give away prizes, and we do our best to give away a FREE comic book file cabinet. Big thank you to the KCCC crew for giving us the floor space and the panel opportunities. We had a great time on the show floor and hosting multiple panels throughout the weekend. So how was your weekend? Because ours was pretty incredible! John got hugs from Doug Jones, Jerry chatted it up with a not-so-silent Silent Bob, and Cullen found a motherlode of Who's Who issues in a Portland dollar box. In this episode, we chat up all things Kansas City Comic Con and Frankenstein's Comic Swap. We go over our panels, including the incredible WCPE panel which can be found in our podcast feed next week. We talk about the friends we saw throughout the weekend, and the new friends we met along the way. John did do some work along the way, getting out the recorder to talk to Doug Jones, one of the stars of Star Trek: Discovery. Despite some technical glitches, the guys made it work for a quick interview with a truly wonderful person. John presents the guys with a Marvel panel quiz, and Jerry receives an early birthday present from the guys. All in all, it's a pretty darn good show, if we do say so ourselves. It's another busy weekend for the guys at the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! So give this show a listen right away to stay caught up with us for the next three days. First up is the two conventions we will be at. You can find John and Jerry at the Kansas City Comic Con at Bartle Hall. We will be set up at booth 703, as well as hosting a lot of panels throughout the weekend. In particular, join us Sunday at 2 PM CT for the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! panel in the Great Hall. Go back to last week's podcast to get all of the details about KCCC. Meanwhile, Cullen will be flying solo at the Frankenstein's Comic Book Swap in Portland on Saturday. This is an old-school comic swap of the finest kind. Cullen will be there with many of our new friends talking comics and more.  But before the con action starts, let's get some more comic talk in. Some of us saw Thor: Ragnarok over the weekend and really enjoyed it. That got us thinking about our favorite stories and runs involving Thor and the Hulk. We run down our picks, but we would love to hear yours as well.  Finally, the comic book world was shaken with the announcement this week that long-time Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis had signed an exclusive contract with DC Comics. We go over his time with Marvel and what the repercussions will be in the industry going forward. Remember, change is good, people! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Welcome back to the Neverland Podcast! I had a wonderful opportunity last weekend to travel to Marceline Missouri and hear a presentation by some Disney Legends! It's one of the privileges that I get to share with all of you, my faithful Lost Boys and Pixies, and it gives me joy! On this episode you'll get to hear two of their stories about working for Walt, meeting with Walt, and all the fun that comes with working at the best job you'll ever have. To get the third guests presentation, you'll have to subscribe to our YouTube channel, since Tom Nabbe's program featured lots of fun photos. This was a rare treat and I know you're going to love it, but first we have some Disney park and movie news to discuss. Plus I'll tell you a little bit about some of the guests for the KCCC! Welcome back to the Neverland Podcast! Sometimes you meet a movie star or celebrity, and they surprise you. That was definitely the case with Sean Astin! He shared a lot of interesting information and advice, but not a lot about his various geek culture movies! But don't worry, Neverlanders, there were plenty of Lord of the Rings questions asked as well as the oft repeated Goonies 2 question. But before we listen to what Mr. Astin has to say, let's join Lost Boy Retlaw (Eric) on a ride on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Hang on to your hats and glasses! But the wildest ride on Neverland 90 is the FINAL ROUND of the Neverland Battle of the Disney Bands! Be sure to visit The Battle of the Disney Bands 2015! Grab your pixie and let's fly to Neverland! Welcome back to the Neverland Podcast! This is a big exciting show this week! I was able to attend as a member of the press, the Kansas City Comic Con, KCCC! I was able to record a lot of great things to share with you in the future, but for now I just have to tell you that I got to speak with Tom Kane (Clone Wars Yoda) and Bret Iwan (Mickey Mouse) but I wasn't able/allowed to record. So I'll just tell you about what they said. You'll enjoy it! To get a quick taste of the fun, be sure to visit the photo gallery over on The Neverland News page. Next we'll welcome Jeff Barnes, the autor of The Wisdom of Walt, a wonderful new book about Walt Disney and what we can learn from him in pursuit of our dreams!
