In a wide-ranging discussion, Kelly Dwyer and I discuss an inexpensive way to get ice off your driveway, why the Bulls aren't bright enough to have a lottery pick next year, why Arturas doesn't like to fill out trade paperwork, if Lonzo Ball will get a cadaver surgery named after him, Barron Hilton, Randal Grichuk, who was going to play Diane on Cheers before Shelly Long, how Woody Harrelson is involved in the two most gruesome bowling injuries in movie/TV history, why Bon Jovi's drummer wore a South Beloit football jersey in a video, Ted Danson and Macauley Culkin's cinematic masterpiece, Eddie Bird's "house", basketball shoes we wore in high school, my terror of playing third base at NIU, John Wooden's high school coaching days, Paul Goldschmidt's terrible decision to play for the Yankees and much, much more.
At 2:30am, Kelly Dwyer left a night out and headed to an apartment block. The camera's followed her inside, but they did not show her leaving the next morning. Jim is joined by Kelly Dwyer, NBA writer and pioneer of the NBA blogosphere, to break down the hall of fame candidacy of former NBA guard Jeff Hornacek. First, Jim and Kelly cover Hornacek's unique offensive game, as well as his elite shooting numbers (6:46). Next, they talk about the 1990 Western Conference Finals, how Hornacek reminds Kelly of Jerry West (you read that right), and attempt to rank Hornacek among the best shooting guards of the 1990s (12:46). Finally, they have a discussion around advanced metrics and their importance when reviewing a player's career, before making a final call on whether or not Hornacek deserves to be inducted into the HOF (27:28).

Welcome back to this week's episode of SERIALously! In today's episode, we're going to talk about a case that perplexed investigators for years. Back in 2013, the city of Milwaukee was gripped by a haunting mystery - the unexplained disappearance of the vivacious 27-year-old, Kelly Dwyer. One normal Friday morning in October, Kelly vanished, leaving behind nothing but a trail of unanswered questions. As investigators started to piece together her last known activities, a disturbing picture began to form. The last trace of her was around 9:00 a.m. the next morning, after which she seemed to have vanished into thin air. The trail ran cold, her phone went silent, and every lead seemed to reach a dead end. The mysterious circumstances of her disappearance and Kelly's recent behaviors, including her adventures on an online dating site, made investigators raise their eyebrows, and they quickly began to believe that something more sinister may have happened. Whether it be MENA, MENASA, or SWANA or any other acronym, the several Middle Eastern, African, and Asian countries that constitute a version of "brown", so to speak, are coming more and more in prominence. This is evidenced with LA local favorite Lynn Maleh and her MENA based stand-up show Hilarious Habibis that she runs with Gena B. Jones at the Hollywood Improv. We talk with Lynn about working her way through producing beloved house shows in LA for years to making space and highlighting Middle Eastern and North African comedians and working towards being inclusive of even more shades of "brown". Kelly Dwyer was in her 20s and living her best life in the Milwaukee area, or so it seemed. She worked hard at her job and had a good relationship with her boyfriend, Kris, according to friends. However, when Jelly would go missing in 2013, things would quickly unravel and appear not as they seem. We're back with another shorter, cleaner, edition of an Ologies classic, today it's all the way back from Episode 11: INSECTS, just straight up buuuugs. Kelly Dwyer (basketball writer) fittingly gets blocked by one of the NBA's all-time leaders in blocks (both on the court and apparently off), for mostly just reporting that people were beefing with Kareem for one reason or another. If we seem a little off this episode, it's because we are forced to record early so Stefan can go on a picnic, which we break down in full detail here. We also get into full details on Canadian beers, upscale-casual restaurants, NHL draft picks, and there's an update on the poop in John's apartment building. Plus! Guitar tones, The Rehearsal, horrible viral tweets, and Kelly breaks down his terrible Twitter Likes situation. If you want a situation you'll definitely like, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Will Weldon returns to the show as we get into Stefan's famous KFC block, and the VOD from last Friday's live show where we broke down horrible Memmos with the boys from Minion Death Cult will also go up. There is no wheel spinning in this edition of Remember This Crap because the guys decide to bring in a guest with a love of '80s baseball and, inexplicably, the podcast. NBA writer Kelly Dwyer joins the fray as they discuss the 1985 Cubs who were riding high in early June only to ruin the season and the basketball camp experiences of Andy and Mike during a 13 game losing streak. There are a lot of injuries, and shockingly, deaths in this one. Find out which Padre and Cub one of the guys' former coworkers had an affair with. Learn how many hits the Cubs got against John Tudor that year. Be shocked and saddened by the Cubs development of Shawon Dunston. Re-live the horror (or joy, depending on your rooting interests) of the sixth game of the '85 World Series. And, get a detailed explainer of Larry Bowa's final Wrigley Field hit.
