The calendar (if not the weather) has flipped to November and another baseball season is fully behind us with the crowning of a new World Series Champion. Daniel (@C70) and Allen (@amedlock1) spend a little time on the Series before diving into the Cardinals news of the week, the declining of options. Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson, and Keynan Middleton all enter the free agent market. Is that a surprise? Does it tell us anything? What are we to make, if anything, from the waiver claim of Roddery Munoz from the Marlins? Is there any chance the Cards offer Paul Goldschmidt the qualifying offer? Sign up for Underdog Fantasy! PROMO CODE: BSCHAEFF Link: https://play.underdogfantasy.com/p-brenden-schaeffer ---- Brenden Schaeffer discusses the first key piece of news of the Cardinals off-season as the team announced Thursday it has declined the options on Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn and Keynan Middleton for 2025. The savings amounts to around $25 million. You could make a case that the players weren't really going to be worth that. The annoying part is going to be when the Cardinals don't really spend any money to replace the production as the payroll heads into a spiral this winter. Let's talk it over as the off-season is officially underway. Follow this podcast feed for Cardinals coverage all winter!
Listen to this segment from Sports Open Line where Scott Warmann is joined by Cardinals Broadcaster Brad Thompson. Thompson discusses the recent play from the team, the impact that relief pitcher Keynan Middleton missing the entire season with injury will have on the bullpen, the success of the bullpen as a whole, how important Alec Burleson has been for the team, and more.
Bernie breaks down Nolan Gorman's recent power surge at the plate, and talks about how the offense could use a productive Jordan Walker to help combat injuries and ineffectiveness. Bernie also talks about the impact of relief pitcher Keynan Middleton being lost for the season.
Will Carroll discusses the latest on Cardinals injuries including Lars Nootbaar, Steven Matz, Keynan Middleton and the infielders who often seem to have back troubles. The injury expert also mentions how the Cardinals are managing their bullpen in a day-to-day fashion right now, which tracks with the team swapping out Ryan Loutos for Chris Roycroft Tuesday.
Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 5-3 win over the Reds from Wednesday, May 29, 2024 as the Redbirds finally chased down that long-elusive .500 record thanks to a strong performance from Andre Pallante. Did you see this coming from Pallante? And is there reason to believe he can keep it up moving forward to become the answer to the Cardinals' longstanding question over the five spot in their rotation? Masyn Winn has an 18-game hitting streak. That's good. Lars Nootbaar has a potential injury. Ryan Helsley gave up a run for his third straight appearance. Those things are bad. We give our DEFCON concern levels for those situations as well as for the Keynan Middleton setback. Follow this feed for Cardinals content all season long! As Cardinals prepare for the official opening of spring training, what tone must be set early and what lessons from last year's losing season and curious spring will inform this year's camp? St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports columnist Ben Frederickson joins baseball writer Derrick Goold to discuss how more than just the Cardinals' spring training facilities in Jupiter, Florida, need an overhaul. The roster received one. The club suggests the leadership in the clubhouse is next for a dash of retro restoration. In a brand new episode of the Best Podcast in Baseball, the two writers detail the new look of the bullpen and four of the team leaders who will help shape what the team looks like and achieves during spring training. Is the certainty of some positions a better place to start than the competition advertised a year ago? Why does the Cardinals approach with the bullpen seem so similar to how they viewed the rotation a year ago -- and is a similar outcome inevitable? (This podcast was recorded before the Cardinals reached an agreement pending physical with right-handed reliever Keynan Middleton.) The Best Podcast in Baseball, sponsored by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and Derrick Goold.

Hour 1: Boomer and Jerry don't blame Aaron Boone for losing it on umpire Laz Diaz last night. They believe it was genuine emotion and a result of built up frustration. This team is simply not good enough. Carlos Rodon is back on the injured list. Shocker. C-Lo is in for Jerry and begins with the lifeless Yankees offense. CLo agrees that Aaron Boone's outburst was genuine and Boomer is sick of the team having the same struggles on a daily basis. Boomer loved seeing Aaron Boone mimic Laz Diaz's emphatic punch out. Luis Severino is going through it emotionally right now and Boomer says CLo knows what that is like. The Mets won for the first time in August. Boomer was attempting his low bass tones last night and sang over a Johnny Cash. Orioles owner Peter Angelos is being blasted for suspending broadcaster Kevin Brown. Boomer, Jerry and CLo all agree Brown did nothing wrong. Spike Eskin helps us figure out who can make the call to suspend a broadcaster. Boomer says the Big Ten teams shouldn't play Notre Dame anymore and that it will soon be time for Notre Dame to join a conference. College football players could soon be playing up to 16 games in a season. Hour 2: Boomer seems to have struck a nerve with talk of college football realignment. A caller wants to know where all of this TV money is going. Football revenue keeps other athletic programs afloat. Schools are building up NIL funds and the transfer portal is out of control. Is there a way to regulate all of this? Boomer says the NCAA lost its chance to and now only Congress can step in. C-Lo returns for an update and begins with a bobbled bunt by the Yankees. Aaron Boone had a problem with the strike zone and was ejected. Terry Collins had one of the best interactions with an umpire. Gerrit Cole did his job last night. Assigning blame for the Yankees to Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman. What kind of contract does Pete Alonso deserve? Gary Cohen destroyed the Orioles last night as did John and Suzyn. One Jets Drive premiered last night and Hard Knocks premieres tonight. In the final segment of the hour, we play “Coordinator or Creep?” Does the Yankees culture need to improve? Hour 3: Jerry gives props to One Jets Drive and Boomer is excited to watch Hard Knocks tonight. Boomer and Jerry both expect a big year for the Jets. Over 6 million people watched the Hall of Fame game. C-Lo returns for an update but first, Boomer brings up Notre Dame's future again. The Yankees lost their series opener in Chicago. The Angels are still winless since the deadline. Jerry wonders how much impact Shohei Ohtani really has on wins and losses. The Jaguars are trying to take the next step in urinal technology. We have an update on the stolen testicles story from last hour's game. In the final segment of the hour, David Wright joins the guys in studio. He talks about golf, the NYPD vs FDNY Battle of the Badges game and the 2023 Mets deciding to sell at the trade deadline. Locked On White Sox - Daily Podcast On The Chicago White Sox
The White Sox shipped off Jake Burger to Miami and Keynan Middleton to NY then lost to the Rangers, 2-0. It perhaps was not the bombshell that fans were waiting for but it still was a surprise. Jake Burger has quite the backstory and has battled from multiple injuries to get to where he's at in 2023. Burger has seemingly unlimited power but the Sox did not know what to do with him. There's a jog jam at nearly every position he could play in 2024 so the Sox moved him for a left-handed pitching prospect. Keynan Middleton has been electric out of the bullpen for the Sox and there is no reason to hold onto such a valuable asset when you are going nowhere as a team. After the deadline dust settled, the Sox were blanked by the Texas Rangers and dropped to 22 games under .500. The next two months will be very difficult for White Sox fans.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!eBay MotorsFor parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check.
The next two months will be very difficult for White Sox fans. With a 1.45 ERA in 20 games, Keynan Middleton has been one of the big surprises this season for the White Sox. Chuck Garfien sits down with Middleton to talk about his unique, up and down journey to the majors, why he's having a breakout season with the White Sox, the great advice Pedro Grifol gave him during spring training, why he really dislikes Carlos Correa and everyone who cheated on the Houston Astros and more.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Ben Lindbergh and Meg Rowley banter about more examples of players whose names describe what they do (like Colin Holderman), the return of Justin Verlander, Juan Soto's overdue hot streak, Keynan Middleton calling out Carlos Correa, the difference between Craig Kimbrel's leverage and results, and how success lowers the boo threshold, then (16:22) react to […]
