Ne ilkinin ne de ikincisinin hakkını kâmilen vermek mümkün değildir; zira Sübhan'a kul olmak çabası, kulu noksanını itirafı mecbur kılar. O dilemezse insan ne emredilenleri yapabilir ne de nehy edilenlerden kaçınabilir. Peygamber-i ekber'in, bir ibadet edeceği zaman “Bu ibadeti bana kolaylaştır ve benden kabul eyle” niyazını sözün burasında tefekküre katık eylemeli. Sen kolaylaştırmazsan ben yapamam demektir bu; ve sen kabul etmezsen ben yapsam da bir işe yaramaz! Buradan ibadet ehline bir pencere aralanır. Namazdan misal verecek olursak, salat ehline düşen şöyle demektir: Sen bu huzura beni kabul etmeseydin ben çıkamazdım, sen kolaylaştırmasaydın ben gündüzleri işimi, sabahları uykumu bölemezdim, sen bu ikramı dilediğine verirsin ve ben bunu hak etmek için hiçbir şey yapmadım, yapamam; üstelik eğer kabul etmeyiverecek olursan bu yaptıklarımın da bir anlamı yoktur, lütfun karşısında mahcubum Yâ Rabbi. Olduranın Allah olduğu bilinince ibadet edemeyenlere bakıp kibirlenmenin, günahkarlara bakıp hor görmenin de kapıları kapanır. Onu huzuruna almayan seni alıyorsa, sana düşen huzura alınmayanı hor görmek değil, seni huzuruna alana karşı mahcup olmaktır! Nefs-i mutmainne'ye varana kadar ibadet etmek nefse rağmen yapılan bir şeydir, günahtan kaçınmak da öyle. Mutmainne, kaledir. Levvâme'nin bir yüzü mülhime'yle cilveleşir ama diğer yüzü emmâre'ye göz kırpar; mülhime bir yanıyla mutmainne'yle merhabalaşır ama diğer yanıyla emmâre'nin kapısını çalar. Mutmainne'nin tek yüzü vardır o da râdıye'ye bakar. Kulluk orada başlar, ibadetin hazzı orada verilir; günah, orada -gayretin ötesinde- bünyenin kabul etmeyeceği bir hale bürünür. Oradan sonrasında seyir ileri doğrudur geri dönüş olmaz. Peygamberimiz bu duayı böylece ederken hem Rabbine karşı tevazuunu ifade ediyor hem de ümmetine usul erkan öğretiyordur belki de. Nefs makamlarının en zirvesinde neresi varsa işte orayı mesken eylemiş bir peygamber, 'bana kolaylaştır' ve 'benden kabul eyle' buyuruyorsa emmâre civarında ömür tüketen bizlerin nasıl niyaz etmesi gerektiğini varın siz hesap edin!

With the growth of the Hungarian Jewish community in the 18th century, Rabbis from both Germany and Poland took up positions in the burgeoning communities. With the changing times, each generation of Rabbinical leadership experienced successive spurts of growth as well as the challenges of the modern era. The Hungarian story presents a unique set of challenges as they developed in this region, with the legacy of the Chasam Sofer's Orthodoxy, the growth of the Chassidim and the eventual dominance of the less traditional Neolog community in Hungarian Jewish life. One of the important Rabbinic dynasties of that era was that of the Levv family. From Rav Elozor Levv (1758-1837), known by the sefer he authored Shemen Rokeach, through several generations of his descendants, they came to represent the vicissitudes of the time period. Rav Yirmiyahu Levv (1811-1874) was one of the leading Hungarian Rabbis of the 19th century. Confronting both the growing Chassidic community in Hungary, as well as the threat to Orthodoxy posed by the Neologs, he eventually led the faction of Hungarian Jewry known as the "Status Quo" communities. By focusing on these specific individuals, it can serve as a prism for relating the story of the entire community. This week, we went back into the archives to share a past episode with you. Here's the thing... Each of these episodes have SO MUCH GOLD in them that it's hard to digest it all in one listen. So, today we're jumping back to our conversation with the amazing Audrey Assad.  Audrey Assad is, by her own admission, a very opinionated person. Of Middle Eastern descent, yet raised in a small cult-like expression of the Plymouth Brethren denomination in New Jersey, she was not allowed to sing or read Scriptures in front of males and suffered tremendous personal repression as a child. Ironically, the very things she endured became the fuel of her deeply layered artistry that blends ancient-future influences into her uniquely beautiful music. Her debut album The House You’re Building (2010) was named Christian Album of the Year on Amazon.com and the Christian Breakthrough Album of the Year on iTunes and she has worked and toured with other great CCM artists such as Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North, Matt Maher, and Jars of Clay. Audrey Assad is the daughter of a Syrian refugee, an author, speaker, producer, and critically lauded songwriter and musician. She releases music she calls "soundtracks for prayer" on the label Fortunate Fall Records, which she co-owns with her husband. She is also one half of the pop duo LEVV, whose debut EP peaked at #17 on the iTunes Alternative chart. In her interview with The Creative Muscle, she discusses the relationship between art and commerce, faith and doubt, trauma and the body, sexism in the music industry, catharsis, and the discipline of stillness.

Early on in her career, Chicago soul singer Bernie Levv generated a buzz with her Golden Hour EP. Now, the SAVEMONEY affiliate is bringing her soulful disco tinged flavor full circle with her new EP, "House of Levv." Jesse Menendez spoke with Bernie about her new project and her activism.
