Life is full of incredible moments when you make them happen, and for me interviewing Abeer AlShaali – Deputy Managing Director of Gulf Craft Inc and Captain Patricia Caswell – General Manager of Gulf Craft Services onboard the very boat that Mohammed Hussein AlShaali (Chairman of Gulf Craft) calls his own was one of those. Is this because they are in a part of the world that is continuing to grow or is it because they are meeting the market worldwide on what the market are asking for? I would suggest it's both. Captain Patricia Caswell has had a distinguished career in the yachting sector. Currently serving as General Manager of Gulf Craft Services, she previously held the role of Quality Control Manager. With extensive hands-on experience as a yacht captain, Patricia ensures the highest standards in yacht building, overseeing processes from design to delivery. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the successful sea trials of the Majesty 175, the world's largest composite production yacht. Surely though, the most obvious move they have made is engage two strong women at the very helm of the business.  You see once the team look up to that, and the world sees the success they achieve – that's when changes happen, that's when others can see what they can do and are encouraged to aim high (this is the difference with women, some of us need that). Rimel was born to Pearl Guy Rimel and Florance F. (née Wilsey) Rimel on February 21, 1915, in Asotin, Washington.His father was a painter, while his mother worked as a secretary. In 1934, he graduated from Asotin High School.H. P. Lovecraft began corresponding with Rimel after becoming aware of him in 1933. The resulting correspondence continued until Lovecraft's death in 1937. He introduced Rimel to F. Lee Baldwin, another author and resident of Asotin, Washington. Lovecraft tutored Rimel in the writing of weird fiction by giving him advice and weird texts from his personal library. He sent Lovecraft some early manuscripts, including a now-lost work titled "The Spell of the Blue Stone" in February 1934. Lovecraft regarded this story as being "very remarkable for a beginner's work". Next, he sent "The Tree on the Hill", which Lovecraft edited. This story was later published in the 1940 issue of the fanzine Polaris. In the summer of that year, Rimel sent a poetic manuscript titled "The Dreams of Yid". Lovecraft altered the title to "The Dreams of Yith", as Rimel had not been aware that the term "yid" is an offensive term for a Jewish person. Clark Ashton Smith also contributed to the revision.The sonnets were published in two issues of the Fantasy Fan.Lovecraft, who was professionally revising stories for clients, did not charge Rimel for his revisions. Instead, he viewed Rimel as needing help in his formative period as a writer.

This is Nelson John, let's get started. Amid India-China geopolitical tensions, China's Fosun Pharmaceutical is in discussions with three global private equity firms to sell its majority stake in the Hyderabad-based Gland Pharma. Fosun currently owns about 51% of Gland Pharma, after initially acquiring a 74% stake for $1.2 billion. They have hired investment banks Morgan Stanley and UBS to assist with the sale. Global private equity firms Blackstone, Brookfield, and Warburg Pincus are interested in buying this stake, valuing the company at nearly $3 billion. Gland Pharma, founded in 1978, specializes in making generic injectable medicines and serves nearly 90 countries, focusing on India and the U.S. markets. In the December quarter, the company reported revenues of ₹1,384 crore and a profit after tax of ₹204.7 crore.The potential sale is expected to trigger an open offer to Gland Pharma's shareholders, with the buyers aiming to own between 60-65% of the company after the transaction. In a major step toward strengthening digital payment security, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed additional factor authentication (AFA) for international card-not-present (CNP) transactions. This means Indian consumers will have an extra layer of security when making payments to foreign merchants—just like they already do for domestic transactions.Now you may wonder what prompted this move by the RBI?It's primarily due to Rising Fraud Cases in international transactions involving unauthorized charges on foreign websites with minimal authentication. Now adding AFA will ensure stronger security standards that safeguard Indian cardholders against such risks.   US-based industrial and aerospace giant Honeywell and Greenko founders-led AM Green signed an agreement on Wednesday to collaborate on manufacturing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in India from biofuels, including ethanol, methanol, and green hydrogen. Under this agreement, Honeywell's cutting-edge technology will be leveraged to produce SAF from renewable sources, aligning with global efforts to transition toward greener energy solutions. AM Green, a company backed by the founders of renewable energy giant Greenko, will focus on production and scaling operations in India, catering to both domestic and international markets.The companies will assess the feasibility of making SAF in India to reduce the country's oil import dependence, helping shipping companies adopt the low-emission fuel, and aiding aviation companies to meet International Civil Aviation Organisation guidelines for low-carbon fuel replacements. The global aviation industry is under increasing pressure to cut carbon emissions, and SAF has emerged as a key solution. This partnership strengthens India's role in the green energy revolution, supporting global decarbonization goals while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Over two dozen Indian startups are expected to go public in the coming months, including big names like Groww, Lenskart, and Zepto, which could see billion-dollar IPOs. Smaller companies like Ather Energy, BoAt, Bluestone, Infra.market, PhysicsWallah, PayU, and Pine Labs are also gearing up for their stock market debuts. This is a jump from last year when only 13 startups, including Swiggy, Ola Electric, and FirstCry, went public. However, market conditions are getting tougher. Investment bankers say startups might need to adjust their IPO sizes and valuations due to recent global economic shifts. The US stock market has been hit hard after President Donald Trump announced new tariffs, leading to uncertainty in global equity markets. India's Nifty 50 index is down 12.5% from its peak last September, with foreign investors selling off shares. Amid tough market conditions and lock-in expiries those looking to invest in upcoming IPOs could also be staring at losses in the short term      At the Maha Kumbh Mela, India's largest spiritual gathering, several startups are seizing the opportunity to engage with the vast influx of pilgrims. Zomato-owned Blinkit has set up a temporary store offering ritual-related items and other essentials. Swiggy's Instamart has established a stall near the Triveni Sangam to serve attendees. PhonePe, in collaboration with ICICI Lombard General Insurance, is providing affordable travel insurance plans tailored for Kumbh visitors. Chai Point has deployed around 175 personnel and 18-20 mini stations, utilizing brewing bots capable of producing 15 liters of tea every 12 minutes, resulting in daily sales of approximately 160,000 cups reports Peiyamvada C. Now these initiatives not only cater to the immediate needs of pilgrims but also serve as strategic moves for brand visibility and customer acquisition. By adjusting pricing and packaging, these startups aim to connect with a broader audience beyond their typical urban clientele, gathering valuable insights for future expansions.

Dominic Gaetani is a senior associate from DKO Architecture, who as a Tasmanian-born architect, left the sleepy Apple Isle more than 10 years ago to pursue his dream of shaping Melbourne's skyline. One of those is the old Prison Pentridge in Coburg, an Australian landmark established in 1851, that has housed some of Australia's most notorious criminals including Ned Kelly, Squizzy Taylor, Mark ‘Chopper' Read and Julian Knight. It was closed in 1997.DKO Architecture recently won a design competition for its initial masterplan and design strategy for the southern portion of the historic Pentridge Village precinct in Coburg in Melbourne's north.  Appointed by developer Salvo following a multi-stage pitch process, DKO has outlined a preliminary vision to revitalise the 19,000m2 site into a $1.2 billion mixed use redevelopment featuring a highly activated public realm, community spaces and integrated retail amenity that reflect the rich history of the site and Coburg character, along with reimagined multi-residential spaces.In this exclusive interview, Gaetani outlines how he overcame the unique challenges in master planning such an iconic site, and what cultural legacies he believes this project will leave the city of Melbourne.This podcast is brought to you in association with AWS,  proud sponsors of our 2024 Residential series of podcasts.

Steve Prest discusses with Ivan six things which should be better known. Steve Prest was a Weapon Engineer Officer who joined the Royal Navy after reading Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Loughborough University. He served in the Defence Communications Services Agency in Corsham in support of Op TELIC 1 (Iraq); undertook a short tour in Afghanistan as a Liaison Officer to Task Force Helmand; and has served on exchange with the French Navy. In the UK he has worked in Defence Equipment and Support, MOD, the Permanent Joint Headquarters and the Maritime Capability Division of Navy Command Headquarters. At sea he was the Weapon Engineer Officer in HMS WESTMINSTER undertaking operations in the Mediterranean (Libya), Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean; and then the Commander Weapon Engineer in HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH, bringing the ship out of build and home to Portsmouth. Joining the nascent Navy Acquisition organisation in 2017, he was previously the Programme Director of the Type 31 Frigate Programme. He then became Deputy Director Navy Acquisition (Equipment and Systems), and Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the Maritime Electronic Warfare and Mine Hunting Capability Programmes. He fulfilled the role of Director Navy Acquisition from September 2022 until May 2023 and finished his career as Deputy Director People Change Programmes in Navy Command HQ. Still working out what he wants to do when he grows up, Steve is now an independent consultant, advisor, commentator and speaker in the Defence sector and beyond. He has set up his own company, Alatar Ltd, and his self-appointed mission is “to help brilliant people to do amazing things”. He is married to Kerry and they live on the Hampshire coast with their daughter, Emily. He enjoys reading and is a keen fan of most sports, participating when time and body allow. Bluestone, a Broadway composer, dies of a heart attack. The Devil offers him one wish, with the entire universe and all time up for the taking, in exchange for his playing his music in Hell from time to time. Bluestone's wish is to "make it" with Mary Ellen Cosgrove, his high school sweetheart. Bluestone finds himself at a party in October 1948. However, despite his body being restored to adolescence, with his middle-age experience he now sees Mary Ellen as just a child. He spots Teresa Golowitz, a plain girl Mary Ellen invited to make herself look better. The Devil reminds Bluestone that Golowitz committed suicide that night and reveals that the reason was depression over her social isolation. Determined to prevent this, Bluestone tries talking to Teresa, but the other guests pull him away and get him to play "How About You?" on piano. Teresa spontaneously sings along, amazing the guests with her vocal talent. She shuns their praises and leaves the party. Bluestone follows and tries to convince her that her singing talent is of star quality and is her key to fitting in. In an effort to ensure her suicide attempt is averted, he asks her to promise to meet with him tomorrow to talk about her singing prospects, but she will not commit to it. He helps Mary Ellen fend off an unwanted paramour and gives her a friendly farewell. Right before he leaves, Teresa tipsily tells him she is getting a ride home with another girl from the party, thus avoiding her previous fate of stepping in front of a bus. Bluestone returns to the present and discovers that Teresa has become an award-winning singer, with Bluestone composing for her. The authorities in Heaven are upset about their altering the past, so he has to lie low for a while in Hell. Bluestone deduces that this was the Devil's plan all along, but the Devil insists it was only a side benefit and that he likes Teresa's singing.

Bluestone and Caratlane set out with the same dream. They both wanted to sell everyday fine jewellery online. This was a pretty alien concept in a country like ours, where gold and diamonds are seen more as an asset rather than just an accessory. And for a lot of people, buying gold and diamonds online is completely out of the question, even today. But both these companies were committed to the idea that there was space for fine jewellery online. And turns out they were right. Today, pretty much any major jeweller you can think of is selling their jewellery online. But somewhere along the way, they went on completely different trajectories. 

Our conversation today with Vicki Ruckman, Secretary & Event Coordinator for the Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail gave all the details for the Shenandoah Valley Wine Festival happening on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley from 1pm - 7pm. We discuss the festival's history, including its previous locations and the move to The MSV. Vicki talks about the wineries participating and the different types of wines expected. The festival showcases wines from various Shenandoah Valley wineries, provides opportunities for attendees to taste and buy wines, and also includes live music, craft vendors, and food trucks. Participating wineries include Bluestone, Valerie Hill, and Barren Ridge, among others.  Apart from wine tastings, the festival offers admission to MSV exhibits and gardens, live music performances by bands like Bottle Shock, and a variety of vendors including craft and food stalls. Vivki also touches on the logistics of the event, such as ticket pricing, wristbands, and facilities available to attendees. Joran van der Sloot will soon be on his way to the U.S. to face extortion and wire fraud charges after demanding Natalee Holloway's family pay him $250,000 in exchange for the location of Holloway's body. Van der Sloot, who is serving a 28-year sentence in Peru for the murder of Stephany Flores, will be sent to the U.S. under a "temporary surrender" from the Peruvian government.
