FULL: Anthony reacts to what will probably be one of the worst losses of the season, as the Lakers fell in Dallas to the Mavericks, who were playing without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. He also offers a little more context on his reporting on Jarred Vanderbilt and the role he'll play whenever he returns. He does have questions about the small-ball approach. To wrap, he takes questions from the live audience, which was looking for macro answers to a micro game. The unofficial beginning of summer is on the horizon! And so is the latest podcast, covering ALL that's happening in the world of sports. On deck: (5:04) After spending a moment taking a peek at what lies ahead over the weekend in sports, the NBA is front and center as both Game 1's in the Conference Finals are in the books. The Dallas Mavericks take the home court away from the Minnesota Timberwolves and give them something to think about heading into Game 2. Will the T'wolves respond? As for the East, the Boston Celtics stole Game 1. Or did the Indiana Pacers give it away? You can say a bit of both as the Celtics are thankful to get the first game of the series out of the way. How will this series unfold after a crushing Game 1 loss for the Pacers? (19:15) On the ice, Game 1 of the Western Conference commences this evening as the Edmonton Oilers hung on to beat the Vancouver Canucks in a Game 7 for the right to play the Dallas Stars. I'll preview who'll come out of the conference as the Stars have been stout, but have had some lapses so far this postseason and the Oilers have been up and down, but survived two rounds. In the East, the Florida Panthers drew first blood against the Rangers at MSG to steal home ice from the top seeded Broadway Blueshirts. This is the beginning of, I think, will be a wild and hotly contested series. (32:14) How about the high flying Fightin' Philadelphia Phillies? They have the best record after 50 games since the 2001 Seattle Mariners. Are they THAT good? I'll also show some love to the Kansas City Royals as they're off to their best start as well. Will the continue to keep this up? I'll survey the baseball landscape as we get set for a holiday weekend on the diamond. (47:36) The second Grand Slam on the tennis calendar is approaching as the French Open is just days away. The two big storylines are as follows. Will Rafael Nadal play on his favorite surface? And will anyone beat back to back French Open champion, Iga Swiatek? (53:55) With the rage of many people on top of Formula 1 racing, why is the Indianapolis 500 not getting any love? As the historically popular race is set for this coming Sunday. This week on the pod we're hopping around to different teams for some quick check-ins. The Warriors are showing a little bit of life, but we're doubtful about their playoff chances. And while the Rockets have been on a hot streak, we can't help but notice that their schedule has been pretty weak. James also goes through the best teams post-trade deadline, covering the Celtics, Mavs, Wolves, Pelicans, OKC, Lakers, and even the Miami Heat. Patrick delves deep on the Phoenix Suns too, because that's what he does. Stick around for a little Best Take/Worst Take featuring some terrible takes from Nick Wright and Michael Beasley. For the first time in nearly seven years... we had TWO game winning buzzer beaters in the NBA on the same day... authored by two players who are no stranger to March Madness... Kyrie Irving, who led Duke to the Sweet 16 in 2011 and Bam Adebayo who helped get Kentucky to the Elite 8 in 2017... But is a Luka-Kyrie duo enough for the Mavs to make a playoff push? Can the Heat become the most dangerous team come playoff time yet again? The Suns and Clippers are sliding down the standings at the wrong time.. We'll discuss their recent struggles, ESPECIALLY late in the game. Jalen Brunson and the Knicks take on the Dubs tonight. Can the Knicks red hot defense pass the Steph test? March Madness is right over the horizon, so we're taking a look at the NBA standings this week and predicting which lower-seeded teams could cause upsets in the playoffs. As we see it right now, the Mavs probably have the best chance to cause an upset due to the Luka/Kyrie factor. And of course, Jimmy Butler will inevitably do Jimmy Butler things. But what happens if Joel Embiid comes back and looks good? We also talk Cavs, Bucks, and Lakers. Stick around for a little Best Take/Worst Take feat. Nick Wright and Udonis Haslem.
