The trial of Robert Telles, the former Clark County Public Administrator accused of murdering investigative journalist Jeff German in 2022, entered a new phase as the prosecution rested its case on Monday. The defense is now taking its turn to present evidence and call witnesses in an attempt to establish Telles' innocence in the high-profile Nevada murder trial. The defense, led by attorney Robert Draskovich, began its case by calling Mark Chambers, a clinical psychologist, to the stand. Chambers discussed the psychological impact of being accused of a severe crime, such as murder, and how this can lead to extreme stress, including the possibility of suicide attempts. “It's clear from the research that the stress of being accused of a crime, particularly a severe crime, can cause people to commit or attempt suicide whether they're guilty or not,” Chambers explained during his testimony. Chambers' role in the trial was to shed light on the psychological state of individuals under severe duress, potentially offering an alternative explanation for Telles' behavior. However, his testimony was closely examined by prosecutor Weckerly, who questioned how much evidence Chambers had reviewed and whether he had independently verified Telles' claims. Chambers admitted that he had not corroborated Telles' account with other sources and had not recorded his interviews with Telles, leaving some room for doubt about the thoroughness of his analysis. “What he's telling you is his factual version, right?” Weckerly asked, to which Chambers responded, “I would assume so.” This exchange highlighted the prosecution's concerns about the reliability of Chambers' testimony. Following the lunch recess, the defense called its second witness, Tracy Migliore, who testified about seeing a suspect near Bruce Trent Park, close to the time of Jeff German's murder. Migliore described the individual she saw as having a matching description to the suspect seen in a video released by the police, including walking “like a man” and carrying a duffel bag. However, Migliore's testimony was challenged during cross-examination. Prosecutor Weckerly asked for details about where exactly Migliore was when she encountered the suspect, and Migliore struggled to provide a clear answer. Additionally, it was revealed that Migliore's husband had taken notes on her behalf, rather than Migliore herself, which cast further doubt on the accuracy of her recollection. The court proceedings on Monday ended earlier than expected due to a travel delay with one of the defense's witnesses, resulting in only two witnesses being called for a total of about two hours of testimony. The court is set to reconvene on Wednesday morning, where the defense is expected to continue presenting its case. As the trial progresses, the defense will aim to create reasonable doubt about Telles' involvement in the murder, while the prosecution will continue to emphasize the evidence pointing to Telles as the main suspect. The case has garnered significant media attention, with many closely watching how the defense will navigate the serious charges against Telles in the days ahead. Donald Trump was in New York City this week. We left him some tickets for our live podcast at the box office, but he never showed up. Still, we had a blast taping our latest episode at WNYC's performance space in Manhattan. And this week, we've got that episode in its entirety. Special guest Mark Chambers, director of the mayor's office of sustainability, joined us on stage for a lively discussion. In this extended episode, we feature a variety of segments. First, we tested the gang’s knowledge of New York’s energy scene with a little segment we called "Climate Week: The Game." Then, we interviewed Mark Chambers, who offered insight into the city's climate action plan. Then, we went deep. We had a debate about the importance of local climate and energy policy in the Trump era -- with a little audience Q&A mixed in, too. Finally, we completed a quick news circuit and analyzed some top energy stories in the news. A big thanks to Urban Future Lab, ACRE, Solar One, and NYSERDA for partnering with GTM on the Clean Energy Connections series. This podcast is sponsored by Mission Solar Energy, a solar module manufacturer based in San Antonio, Texas. This mix is very personal to me, because if there was no Sizzla, I wouldn’t be a DJ, I wouldn’t love reggae music as much as I do, I wouldn’t know as much about myself and our great ancestors. To put it simple, I would be a different person. I remember many nights at the university of Western Ontario chilling with my good friends Steve or Matthew dealing with some good food, and taking in the biggest Roots Rock Reggae artist Sizzla Kalonji for hours and hours, no movies or tv, just reggae music, and most of the time it was Kalonji. It seemed like every day Sizzla had a new track or full album to take in. This experience lit my love for reggae music… and this flame burns more and more every day, because this music is not just music, its culture. Attentive dental care is critical for cancer patients. Before beginning cancer treatment, patients should address pre-existing oral conditions and infections. During treatment, conditions may arise, such as chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis (mouth lining breaks down forming ulcers); xerostomia (dry mouth); and poor blood flow which may result in bone rot causing jaw fractures. It’s important for cancer survivors to see their dentists regularly, too. Mark Chambers, D.M.D., professor in Head and Neck Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, gives an overview for cancer patients on what they need to know about their oral health before, during and after cancer treatment.

As promised...here's September's Metroline Podcast double treatment! For our chapter 20 we are proud to have Hamid from the Half Baked crew. Hamid will soon release his debut EP on Metroline Limited too...keep your eyes peeled! DJ and producer Hamid was instantly immersed in music, growing up in the quiet south east of France. Brought up as by far the youngest of 5, his early years were full of musical inspiration from all genres and era's. In 2006 he moved to London. The city, its playground of rhythm and creative diversity were literally music to his ears; pulling him deeper in love with sound more than ever before Hamid began securing his place on the city’s house and techno scene. Playing over the years that followed at numerous venues and parties, most notably Tbar, Public Life and various underground events. Hamid’s current residency at London’s hottest Sunday party Half Baked, continues to see Hamid play amongst some of London and Europe’s most respected artists. Hamid met and began collaborating with a collective of people that continue to inspire him today. Collaborations with DoubtingThomas, who we see remix on Hamid ’s upcoming ‘Mentalo Disco’ EP on Metroline With so many elements that have been essential in his growth as a DJ, and more recently, a producer, it's unsurprising that we see such a sense of maturity in his work at such a young age. Hamid 's sound varies eclectically, from his DJ sets to solo productions, collaborations and live work. Latin and tribal ambiences are entwined with down tempo jazz and seductive vocals. Percussion and brass sit alongside deep and heavy rhythmic bass, always focusing on a strong and dominant platform of techno and deep house. It's erotic and dark, sensual and classical, encompassing so many genres and styles in one, a minefield of experimentation that works and forces our minds and bodies into his world. Hamid is part of the Half Baked collective as resident and in-house sound engineer as well as London based project Maison Close. Housing a diverse group of talent, Maison Close’s artists include Greg Brockmann, Robin Ordell, DoubtingThomas, Rainer, Mark Chambers and Hamid himself. 2010 see’s Hamid ’s ‘Mentalo Disco’ EP release on Metroline Limited. A solid and groovy EP with three killer tracks and a remix from fellow Metroline artist DoubtingThomas. Encompassing Hamid’s signature of progressive drum beats and deep house with irresistible groove.
