Episode #196: How To Magnify Your Success With Joy Join us today as Colleen Interview's Mary Gaul on Take the Leap. In this episode, we dove deep into the concept of joy in both our personal lives and businesses. Here are three key takeaways that I believe can transform your approach to work and life: Joy is a Choice: Mary emphasized that we have the power to control our thoughts and reactions, regardless of the situations we find ourselves in. When we feel stuck or unhappy, it's crucial to recognize those feelings and actively choose to shift our mindset. By focusing on what brings us joy, we can create a more fulfilling and productive environment. Remember, it's not about avoiding challenges but about how we respond to them! Networking Doesn't Have to Be Painful: Many people, especially introverts, dread networking events. Mary shared some fantastic strategies to make networking enjoyable, such as asking open-ended questions that allow others to share their passions. By shifting the focus from ourselves to genuinely getting to know others, we can create meaningful connections without the pressure of traditional networking. It's all about building relationships, not just exchanging business cards! Delegate to Elevate: One of the most powerful insights from our conversation was the importance of off-boarding tasks that don't bring us joy. Mary highlighted how hiring a virtual assistant or delegating responsibilities can free up our time and energy to focus on what truly matters. As business owners, we often feel the need to do everything ourselves, but embracing a team approach can lead to greater success and happiness. I encourage you to listen to this episode and reflect on how you can incorporate these takeaways into your own life and business. Let's strive to find joy in our work and support each other in our journeys! As a business owner, your list of To-Do's can feel never-ending. In this episode of Flow Working The Entrepreneur's Podcast, my regular expert Mary Gaul and I chat about her 4-D's of To-Do. Even though we feel like it all falls upon our shoulders as entrepreneurs it's impossible to be a one-human-show all of the time. That's why Mary has created a simple method for getting things re-worked on your list so that you can actually accomplish things that are important. She calls her method the 4-Ds of To-Dos. As she explained the 4-D's of To-Dos are, "So is this something I'm going to DO is the first D DON'T DO Now meaning I can put it off another month, a week, whatever it is, I don't have to worry about it right now. Is it something I'm going to DELEGATE? Can I get this off my plate completely? Or this is something I can DELETE?" Taking a step back from the hustle and looking over your To-Do list in a new light is a refreshing way to tackle the same old day-to-day. It may even uncover things that simply aren't To-do's anymore and free you up for great new things to come your way. If you're tired of having a growing To-Do list and need help, connect with Mary! In this episode, my regular expert, Mary Gaul, shares her thoughts on why saying no is an important part of planning and productivity. We all love feeling important to others and as entrepreneurs, it's hard to turn away things that feel like opportunities. Yet that is exactly what Mary shares, No is sometimes a vital part of getting better opportunities on your calendar. Growing a business begins with making a good plan, so what's the point in a plan if you say yes to everything? Mary shares, "that setting that boundary for yourself, and then aligning it again back to your plan. Having that plan in the first place is so helpful because it helps you evaluate all of these other opportunities that come your way and say do they align with where I wanted to go in the first place?" Being aligned with your business and the plan you set out to achieve is not only a great way to grow your business, but it's also a great way to honor yourself too. Are you looking for someone to help you say No and mean it? Tap here to connect with Mary for a free connection meeting.
In this episode, I sit down and chat with productivity expert Mary Gaul and have a conversation about how to create a powerful plan to follow up with others in a professional way. If we're being honest as business owners we often get caught up in the day-to-day of life and simply forget to follow up. It's great when business is humming along and you're making all the money you want, but are you leaving money on the table when you don't follow up? According to Mary, you are! She shares that she uses follow-up reminders so "when I'm sending that email saying, Hey, let's I'd love to talk to you. Here's my calendar link. But then if you never follow up with them, they never booked the appointment, then that's one lead that just you know, disappeared. So by you just following up two weeks later, it looks like you're professional, you're on top of it, you really do want to have that conversation with them." Give yourself some grace and use a process and planning tool to help you make sure you're following up with those referral clients and never let another potential dollar disappear again. As an entrepreneur, we sometimes feel that we have to do “all the things,” which can be both physically and mentally exhausting. My guest today, Mary Gaul, is an amazing business coach who loves to have her clients ask themselves, “I wonder…?”. I wonder if this could be easy? I wonder what will happen if I take this next step? This exercise, combined with action, is a fantastic way to provide clarity on how to move your business forward. In this live episode, I chate with Mary Gaul owner of Success Magnified about breaking down your planning into small pieces so you can meet your goals. Making a plan for what you want to do this year is only step one. Mary Gaul, a planning expert, shares it's more important to break down each step along the way. This way you set yourself up for success rather than frustration. She points out," So when you're looking at your plan, and you set your goals for the year, hopefully, you've kind of broken them down into smaller goals for the quarter, even the month or the week so that you know how you're moving forward into those bigger year, year-long goals...we don't get to November. And we're like, oh my gosh, I got one month left to the year to get this golden, right.." Give yourself a leg up for achieving your goals! Take this tip from Mary and break down each goal into manageable pieces then calendar it up so you can stay on top of yourself. Want to get some personalized help from Mary around your planning? In this week's episode, Mary Gaul discussed how important it is to participate in a mastermind, which in her own words she calls Peer Advisory Board. Having a group of entrepreneurs who are willing to listen and contribute in whatever you're in right now in your business and a certified facilitator who has the right tools to bring out the best from every member and every situation. She stressed the importance of acknowledging small wins and how great it is to celebrate with people who understands your journey. According to her, a safeplace where you can contribute your stories, tips, and thoughts is very important.Mary is a strong believer of the effectiveness of having an accountability partner. She said that there are studies that shows a majority of entrepreneurs do what they do because of an accountability partner. This also helps in creating habits and microhabits. With microhabits, she goes more specific in doing your task. If you're doing marketing for an hour, you should say I will comment on 10 accounts in an hour. You go more specific and make it a habit. As the owner of Success Magnified, she also talked about her "tight-loose-tight" strategy in handling a newly hired virtual assistant. Most of the time business owners let go of their new VAs to early without really trying. Her tip, "it's great to have kind of a little checklist, like what do I want to do with new people? If it's just somebody I'm going to have as a contact, you know, then, you know, where do I want to put them in my CRM? Do I, you know, do I want to make sure that they're, I'm connected to them on whatever social media platform? Do I want to schedule another time to reach out and touch base with them?" Make a plan before you meet people so you can wow them when you follow up. Want to connect with others better? Connect with Mary

Mary Gaul, our productivity expert, shares how she took an experience she had with her daughters and turned it into a business networking opportunity. She shares, "And it was so much fun taking that time in the middle of the week. Free Yourself From Admin Time As business owners, definitely, those who sell services, it's easy to be overly nice. To give too much away for free or always be bending over to make things easier for potential clients. Our productivity expert, Mary Gaul, advises that you create better boundaries for your time and energy. When musing about protecting time she shares, "it's a reminder that as an entrepreneur, as a business owner, we get to create the schedule that we want to have, which we're not used to having that power. And we give away that power all the time because we're like, oh, you can meet them. Okay, I'll shift everything around and come meet with you then." Automating any part of your business frees up time. Automating your scheduling moves business FORWARD. Take a look at how you are planning your time, maybe its time to put up some boundaries and allow a scheduler to do the hard bits. Want help with your planning? Connect with Mary

" if you find your brain just kind of spinning out of control, you're trying to work on a project and you just keep spinning and, and you know, you are having a hard time focusing. The Power of Looking Backward Everyone has a morning routine, but not all routines are created equal. So, why not start by thinking outside the box? One way to do this might be by looking at the day in a whole new way try asking If this day were repeated what would I do? Mary Gaul, the queen of productivity, shares her thoughts "you have to do the same day over. So what would you do differently today? If you knew that you had to live the day over again or if it was your second time going through the day. I just love this question." Wow, what a thought looking a life before it's even happened. Work something new into the same old morning routine and see what shakes loose. Want help with your planning? Connect with Mary

Not all To-Do's on the list are created equal. Mary Gaul, our productivity expert, once again has great advice about tackling the ever-growing to-do list. "Sometimes there are projects on there we put on [the list], just because we think we have to. And so taking a hard look and asking, you know, why is this on my list? why do I really need to do this? And can I delegate it? Can I procrastinate on it?" Business owners never lack for things so take a small piece of advice from Mary and look at the list with new eyes. Anything on the list that can be pushed back or pondered over? Remember being productive doesn't mean having to be busy at all times. In fact, many highly successful business owners work only 4 days a week. Find your productivity and let go of the to-dos that are not giving life energy. Connect with Mary
3 Magical Questions Asking ourselves questions is one of the best ways to unstick our minds. Mary Gaul, our productivity expert, shares a bit on a recent blog she wrote titled The Three Magical Questions. Using the book The Magic Question by Bart Baggett as her source and inspiration, Mary poses that the first magical question is; what's good and what's new? "[This question is] Presupposing that something is good and something new is always happening for us, right?. As entrepreneurs sometimes we get stuck in a rut and we think the same thing over and over and over again, and I'm not getting anywhere, you know I'm not feeling productive, or just feel stuck." In her musings, Mary chats on an experiment that Bart Baggett did for his book where participants had to answer this magical question each day for two weeks. Mary observed that the participants "had to really start looking and observing things that they wouldn't necessarily have looked at in their business so it really does help you just shift if you're feeling a little stuck what's good and what's new." Try it out, ask yourself "What's good and what's new? and see the possibilities come to light. Want help with your planning? Click to Connect To Mary
