YOU"RE NOT ALONE>>>Website: https://www.nami.org/HomePhone: NAMI HELPLINE 800-950-6264 or TEXT "helpline" to 62640In 2020, the nation took a significant step forward with the enactment of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, a bill NAMI advocated for that created a nationwide three-digit number (988) to assist people experiencing a mental health or suicidal crisis. This number is now available in communities across the country.NAMI recognizes that other organizations have drawn distinctions between what diagnoses are considered “mental health conditions” as opposed to “mental illnesses.” We intentionally use the terms “mental health conditions” and “mental illness/es” interchangeably.A mental illness is a condition that affects a person's thinking, feelings, behavior, or mood. These conditions deeply impact day-to-day living and may also affect the ability to relate to others. If you have — or think you might have — a mental illness, the first thing you must know is that you are not alone. Mental health conditions are far more common than you think, mainly because people don't like to, or are scared to, talk about them. However:1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24A mental health condition isn't the result of one event. Research suggests multiple linking causes. Genetics, environment, and lifestyle influence whether someone develops a mental health condition. A stressful job or home life makes some people more susceptible, as do traumatic life events. Biochemical processes and circuits and basic brain structure may play a role, too.None of this means that you're broken or that you, or your family, did something “wrong.” Mental illness is no one's fault. And for many people, recovery — including meaningful roles in social life, school, and work — is possible, especially when you start treatment early and play a strong role in your own recovery process.THERE'S HELP & HOPE...

Meadows revisits Limits to Growth 50 years after it was published.  Looking back, how does Meadows view the book? How much of the response to his description of overshoot was based in fear? Meadows offers advice to current leaders based on the models he developed in Limits to Growth. Why is it important to develop success indicators, and how can they be clearly communicated to the public?  Further, Meadows explores the available leverage points to avoid the worst types of collapse at our current stage of crises.  About Dennis Meadows: Dennis Meadows is the Emeritus Professor of Systems Management at MIT and the co-author of Limits to Growth and Beyond the Limits.  He has received numerous awards and is the recipient of four honorary doctorates for his contributions to environmental education. VPCa was formed to educate Veterans and Active-Duty military populations on the need to screen for prostate cancer, provide resources to aid men in their treatment decisions, and promote the newest technology for the treatment and cure of prostate cancer. There are over 500,000 Veterans in the national Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) and over 16,000 of those men dealing with a metastatic form of the disease. With over 15,000 new diagnosis each year the need to educate men on how to screen for the disease is a critical undertaking. Crosby is also the CEO of Green Life Can Corp, a Canadian Holding company, with investments in innovative 100% biodegradable plant-based chemicals that provide better performance and safer solutions than existing hazardous industrial chemical products. Green Life also owns Revitalize Energy Inc. a junior oil and gas company, implementing the bio-based technologies in the production and cleanup of petroleum. Crosby graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1983 and after earning his wings as a Naval Aviator served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1983 to September 1997. During his active service, he was assigned to VF-101, VF-41, VX-4, and VF-142. He then transitioned to the US Navy Reserves and was assigned to VF-301 in San Diego until 1999 when he was selected as Commanding Officer of Mobile Operations Command Center Western Pacific, based at Pt. In 2002, because of the events of 9/11, CDR Crosby was recalled to active duty in the Naval Reserves and assigned to U.S. Central Command where he served as the Chief of Counter Proliferation and directed operations in support of “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Because of his efforts, CDR Crosby was awarded the “Joint Force Commendation” medal for organizing and leading a multi-national team in conducting counter-proliferation operations. Upon his departure from active duty in 2004, Crosby formed Aria International Holding Inc. and immediately deployed back to Iraq in support of the US Marine Corps. Aria recruited a group of international experts providing specialized engineering and surveillance infrastructure solutions. During operations in Iraq, Crosby led Aria's further expansion through similar offerings to clients such as the United Arab Emirates Air Force, Kuwait Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Interior of India, and the Royal Thai Army. Aria was responsible for designing and managing the construction of defensive security structures around air bases and along many sections of borders for clients. The General Services Administration's migration of its FedBizOpps.gov website to its beta.sam.gov portal will not be remembered as a smooth transition. The first three or so days were fraught with slow load times, infrastructure problems, and a site that wasn't ready for prime time. Judith Zawatsky is the assistant commissioner in the Office of Systems Management in GSA's Federal Acquisition Service. She told Federal News Network Executive Editor Jason Miller in an exclusive interview about how GSA actually was prepared for the transition challenges, and also how the site has rebounded over the last week. Do you know the difference between quality management system (QMS) and quality systems management (QSM)? Today's guest is Larry Mager of Mgmt-Ctrl. He describes the difference between QMS and QSM, as well as offers tips on concepts that make medical device businesses more efficient and effective to benefit patients. Some of the highlights of the show include: ● Challenges with management control include the different definitions of quality management. Most organizations define it too narrowly and passively. ● QMS documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities to achieve quality policies/objectives. ● For Mgmt-Ctrl, QMS includes quality operations and QSM. The QSM solution is designed to measure, manage, and improve the quality of products/processes. ● Companies focus more on compliance than quality due to costs. Predictive analytics extract info from data to find patterns that may predict outcomes. ● Company's executive team and person responsible for regulatory compliance (PRRC) are responsible for measuring and confirming process/product quality. ● Medical device companies need to be proactive, not reactive. And, they need to understand management control terminology, such as product and process. ● Design and development process has not focused on critical quality controls or reviewed released products against those controls to make adjustments. ● A medical device that's a software component must be controlled and managed appropriately within a quality system.

What is going on in the medical device industry right now that is driving companies and the FDA to address quality systems differently? What is the Quality Systems Management (QSM) Strategic Plan? How will it help organizations? How will it help patients? Larry Mager is an experienced medical device quality executive with success in taking quality management systems to the next level at major global medical device companies. He now is leveraging his decades of leadership and making his system available for any organization that wants or needs to improve. Quality System(s) Management (QSM) = Measure | Manage | Improve 1. A Quality System(s) Management (QSM) plan is utilized to measure, manage, and improve the ‘quality' of an organization's Quality Management System (QMS) 2. QSM measures what matters in regard to product and process quality, and does so in a manner that is actionable for Management 3. QSM enables the strategic understanding of product & process ‘quality', as is expected of Management by the stakeholders 4. QSM targets issues of constraint, enabling the responsible and targeted improvement of the organization's constraints 5. Supports EU MDR and Case for Quality initiatives (see below) EU MDR defines significant responsibilities associated with the verification of product & process ‘quality' through the PMS & QMS surveillance activities utilized within a medical device company. The accountability for doing so resides within the designated role of Person Responsible for Regulatory Compliance (PRRC). The capability to satisfy the obligations of that role must be ‘built' into the Quality Management System (QMS). The Case for Quality is an FDA-driven initiative, coordinated in partnership with the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) and in collaboration with the Medical Device Industry, focused on creating “sustained predictive practices that advance medical device quality and safety.” To connect with Larry: info@mgmt-ctrl.com

Using Economic Mechanisms to Achieve Foreign Policy Objectives with Francis Skrobiszewski Former Vice President, Polish-American Enterprise Fund Former Senior Vice President, Hungarian-American Enterprise Fund About the lecture: Dr. Skrobiszewski will compare and contrast what the USG did in support of transformation of post-Soviet Central and Eastern Europe with other rebuilding initiatives, with a focus on the Enterprise Fund model. He will touch on post-WWII Western Europe's Marshall Plan, and Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti and other recent initiatives, with which he has had some direct experience. He will talk about fundamentally what works and what doesn't as general principles, the need for a strategy that properly defines the problem and the objectives, and the need for understanding tactically how to adapt approaches proven elsewhere to local conditions and realities. This lecture is part of a series on Economics and Foreign Policy sponsored by the Charles Koch Foundation. About the speaker: Engaged for the past 25 years in transformation initiatives of former Soviet Bloc countries, Skrobiszewski has been actively engaged in development of economic mechanisms to achieve foreign policy objectives. Upon the collapse of Communism in Poland in 1989, President Bush called Skrobiszewski to The White House to discuss strategy for rebuilding the Polish economy and, on the weekend the Berlin Wall fell, to meet Lech Walesa. Subsequently, Skrobiszewski drafted the business plan for the $240 million Polish-American Enterprise Fund (PAEF) -- the first of pioneering direct equity funds capitalized by the US Government to "jump-start" local private sector businesses and to build the institutional foundation for free market economies in "post-Soviet" Central and Eastern Europe. Over the next 15 years, Skrobiszewski served initially as Vice President of PAEF, and later as Senior Vice President of the $60 million Hungarian-American Enterprise Fund (HAEF). Concurrently, he was a director of a Polish Mass Privatization Fund comprised of +500 State-owned enterprises. After conceiving and managing HAEF's high-tech Venture Capital fund, Skrobiszewski was appointed to the Investment Committee of a $300 million fund-of-funds financing new high-tech VC firms in Poland. Skrobiszewski was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and raised in a nearby Polish farming community. After studies at University of Vienna, he graduated in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. During military service, he obtained his Master's degree from University of Southern California in Systems Management. After international law studies in Paris, he received a Juris Doctorate from University of Virginia School of Law. Skrobiszewski practiced law in San Francisco prior to service during the Reagan Administration at the US Environmental Protection Agency, from which he was seconded to the President's Council on Management Improvement. Skrobiszewski has spoken widely on the role of financing in stimulating private business development to support reconstruction. He served 5 years on the Board of Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, and has advised on such funds designed for Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine, Ghana, Cuba and Haiti, as well as for specialized funds in Central Asia, Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, and most recently, Swaziland.
