Rob Dauster joins to run through everything you need to know about the 2021-22 college basketball season, 21 Questions style. College basketball is older than it's been in years due to the decision to grant an extra year of eligibility. Does that mean we think the quality will be better? What is your favorite preseason bet on winning the national title? Who is your national player of the Year pick? Do we buy the Gonzaga hype? ACC: This is Coach K's farewell season. Will you miss him? And do we think this Duke team has a chance to actually win the title given that they are ranked top-five in the preseason? ACC: Is the ACC kind of down this year? I have no first round prospects in the ACC right now outside of Duke. Duke is the only top-20 KenPom team at 10. Big East: Are we sure that Villanova is by far the favorite? Who is the No. 2 team in the Big East? Big Ten: The Big 10 is definitely the best league, right? Michigan, Illinois, Purdue and Ohio State look loaded. Maryland and Michigan State are talented. Big Ten: Kofi Cockburn, Trevion Williams, Hunter Dickinson, EJ Liddell, Trayce Jackson Davis, Zach Edey, even Keegan Murray to an extent. Can you remember the last time a league had this many great bigs? Big 12: Am I missing something on Kansas? Big 12: this race feels totally open to me. This is not just a Kansas walkover right? Pac-12: UCLA went to the Final Four, returned all of its top-10 rotation players, and brought in Myles Johnson and Peyton Watson? Do we think they're the Final Four team that got hot late, or more the early season team that struggled last year? Pac-12: This is a weird league. Do we buy Arizona coming back to relevance? Can Oregon's transfers coalesce? USC without Evan Mobley? Colorado is a top-40 team without McKinley Wright? Is the SEC the deepest league? It feels like the most talented, athletic league to me across the board. How weird is this Kentucky team? AAC: Houston and Memphis are considered the two best teams in the league in the preseason. Which one do you like better? Anything teams you're looking forward to seeing? MWC, A10, MVC, rest of WCC: Who is the best team in these leagues? Best mid/low-major team? Who is the most underrated team in the country? Who will win the national title? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Topics: - Happy snow day! BK is shacked up in a freezing hotel room in Fort Lee, NJ! - PEC "Greatest snow games in sports history" - Rutgers Basketball: Looks like the new starting lineup is working as RU beats Michigan State for the first time in program history, as well as Northwestern on the road. Myles Johnson dunked on the entire state of Michigan and gets BK's "Jersey guy of the week." Why is this team so streaky? -NHL Talk: The Devils had a solid weekend taking 3 out of 4 points in Buffalo with their backup and 3rd string goalies. BK thinks Jack Hughes looks like Taylor Hall in his MVP season. The Rangers lost to the Pens again, one of their defensemen may have assaulted his own goalie, and Karl is depressed about it. Alexis Lafreniere finally got his first NHL goal! The guys rant about how much they hate Sidney Crosby. The Isles had another rough week as well. - The Eagles new head coach has quite a funny press conference which had the guys laughing and BK does his best Chris Farley (Matt Foley Impression). Harbaugh Extension and Football Program Outlook starts at 1:00 Ba ba ba ba ba basketball, gimme the ball cuz I’m gonna dunk it. Oh right, that. Ba ba ba ba The rest of the writeup and the player after The Jump] 2. Hoops vs Minnesota starts at 28:09 That. It must be miserable to play against Michigan. Eli loses a tooth so we get more Brown, like more Brown. Also like everything that Johns does except that he wont’ do more of it. Dickinson, oh Dickinson. Smith staying in front of Carr means he’s legit okay at defense now? Finding nits to pick in lieu of the canceled game against the picking Nits. 3. Big Ten Hoops starts at 51:10 This segment is not entirely making fun of Michigan State, but there’s a lot of making of Tom Izzo’s insane roster management. Indiana is making everything out of one guy, often late in the clock. Illinois opponents found out how to slow down Ayo, and Kofi’s not getting the ball enough. Minnesota churning out disaster factory candidates. Iowa gonna Iowa. Ohio State again gets a Rutgers game with Myles Johnson in early foul trouble—nice to see something go that athletic department’s way for once. Wisconsin is interesting but beatable. 4. Hot Takes, WBB, and Hockey starts at 1:44:40 With everybody out for COVID we have the Naz game. Might be putting too much on Dilk. Hailey Brown has been stepping up in Leigha Brown’s absence but the ceiling on this team is much lower without key parts of their roster. In hockey, an 11-3 weekend went almost as badly as it could, with the hockey gods awarding MSU goals on their first, penultimate, and last shots in a game Michigan otherwise dominated. Blech. Myles Johnson joins me in drinking and talking about TikTok, Dan Bilzerian, and my life long dream of becoming a professional internet troll. Listen to this mess of a masterpiece.
We are living in Andy Warhol's vision of the future. It’s a time when anyone can TikTok their way to 15 minutes of fame, only to disappear 15 seconds later. But there’s a strange effect to all these stars and this new galaxy: We’re all so siloed as fans that it’s easy to forget there was once a time when stars could outlast the universe. One such star is Whitney Houston. As The Opus winds down its journey through the diva's blockbuster debut, host Andy Bothwell speaks with rapper Dessa and writers Hanif Abdurraqib and Myles Johnson about what Whitney Houston meant to the world. Together, they discuss how Houston impacted such a wide and diverse range of communities and cultures, and later marvel at the strength she exhibited while facing insurmountable pressures and exorbitant demands. Stream Whitney Houston via all major streaming services or enter to win a copy of Vinyl Me, Please’s 35th anniversary Whitney Houston box set.

There’s hot gossip flying off the shelves this week!! We’re talking, of course, about Fire and Fury, Michael Wolff’s account of the Trump White House’s chaotic interior. We’ll read and react to some of the weirdest, cattiest, and downright craziest things in the book, including mind-bending quotations from Steve Bannon, Jared Kushner, and all those with the name Trump. We’ll also talk about who Michael Wolff is, whether we can trust him, or whether that even matters! Meanwhile, ex-president and newly minted water sports aficionado Barack Obama blessed us with his best of 2017 list. We’ll see what tracks Obama claimed to like this year and debate whether or not he actually listened to them or simply pulled an NSA and spied on his daughters’ Spotify lists. We’re going to be talking about the protests that began in Iran before the New Year. We’ll give you the lowdown on what we know so far, and then we will pivot and relentlessly rip on the right wing’s false sympathy and bloodthirsty interest in regime change. In the pop culture corner, we are going to go head to head in one of our first ever on-air disagreements. We’re talking about Dave Chappelle’s comeback and the role of criticism and woke politics in the decidedly not-woke field of stand-up comedy. This week’s storytime is a touching tale of generosity and civility on the New York subway. OK, obviously that is not true. Dan is going to tell you about a fierce confrontation he had with a fellow Subway rider, just another atomized soul under late capitalism, and there will be a “baby hand” involved.
