South German-Style WeizenbockDescription (courtesy of Beer Advocate)-The German-style Weizenbock is a wheat version of a German-Style Bock, or a bigger and beefier Dunkelweizen. If served with yeast, the appearance may appropriately be very cloudy. With flavors of bready malt and dark fruits like plum, raisin, and grape, this style is low on bitterness and high on carbonation. Balanced clove-like phenols and fruity, banana-like esters produce a well-rounded aroma.-Color – Gold to very dark-Clarity: If served with yeast, appearance may be very cloudy.-Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Medium malty sweetness should be present. If dark, a mild roast malt character should emerge in the flavor and, to a lesser degree, in the aroma-Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: Not present-Perceived Bitterness: Low-Body : Medium to full-Additional notes: These beers are made with at least 50 percent wheat malt. They are often roused during pouring, and when yeast is present, they will have a yeasty flavor and a fuller mouthfeel.-ABV: 7.0%-9.5%-Glassware: Tulip Glass - A stemmed glass, obviously tulip-shaped, wherein the top of the glass pushes out a bit to form a lip in order to capture the head and the body is bulbous. Scotch Ales are often served in a "thistle glass," which is a modified tulip glass that resembles Scotland's national flower.Benefits: Captures and enhances volatiles, while it induces and supports large foamy heads.ExampleSchneider Weisse Tap 6 Unser Aventinus - Weisses Bräuhaus G. Schneider & Sohn GmbHABV 8.2 %Notes: For golden moments by the fireplace: "Mein Aventinus" - the wholehearted, dark ruby coloured wheat beer, intensive and fiery, warming, well-balanced and tender. Bavaria's oldest wheat "Doppelbock" - brewed since 1907! Its sturdy body in combination with its sweet malty aroma is an invitation to profound indulgence - an ingenious blend with a strong body. NOTES:For a more contemporary look, I really like it when the maids wear slightly different but coordinating dresses. It will take a little more legwork on your part, but when done well, it looks really refreshing in photos. It's best to tell them to stick to a certain palette so it still looks cohesive. If possible, give them specifics on shades. The color "blue" can mean a lot to different people. Give them a Pantone color code or PMS swatch to reference that's most similar to what you have in mind. If you have groomsmaids and bridesmaids, have the groomsmaids wear a similar color, but a different pattern and have them wear a cuff or corsage instead of carrying a bouquet.

Fanny and Alexander opens at London's Old Vic Theatre. Adapted from Ingmar Bergman's award-winning 1982 film, how well does such a sumptuous film transfer to the stage? Also coming from Sweden is our film this week (well, to be more accurate, it's a Swedish/German/Egyptian co-production). The Nile Hilton Incident tells the true story of an Egyptian policeman investigating the death of a nightclub singer in Cairo, as The Arab Spring is beginning. But the justice system seems intent on stymieing his work. Toby Litt's latest novel is Notes For a Young Gentleman. It's told in the form of advice left behind by a WW2 soldier after a mission that went wrong. In Tones Drones and Arpeggios; The Magic of Minimalism on BBC4, Charles Hazlewood interviews La Monte Young and Terry Riley about the movement which stripped music back to its sonic essentials and power The latest exhibition at London's Photgraphers' Gallery is 'Under Cover, a Secret History of Cross Dressers' Made up of a collection of amateur 'found photographs' from Europe and the US dating from 1880 onwards, it explores the many manifestations of gender non-conformity and cross-dressing. Tom Sutcliffe's guests are Rosie Boycott, Linda Grant and Robert Hanks. The producer is Oliver Jones.

“...the people must either be chivalrous on its own resources, or else choose between the two remaining alternatives of brutality and softness. This indeed, part of the general problem of a classless society, which is too seldom mentioned. Will its ethos be a synthesis of what was best in all the classes, or a mere ‘pool’ with the sediment of all and the virtues of none?” -The Necessity of Chivalry by C.S. Lewis Summary: Is chivalry worth bringing back? Maybe it’s right to bring definition to manhood, so we don’t become cowards who look for the easy route of brutality (fake manhood) or softness (fake love). **Deals with sensitive subject matter. Listener discretion advised** In this special episode, we delve a bit deeper into the confusing questions that arose at the end of the last: namely, who is the true killer of Laura Palmer? Was this really a case of demonic possession? How culpable is Leland Palmer in the abuse and murder of his daughter? And who really is BOB? Notes: For more information, we cannot recommend Joel Bocko's incredible video essay "Journey Through Twin Peaks" enough! Here is his entry on the killer's reveal While we're hesitant about any strict, dogmatic interpretations of Twin Peaks, the charges of misogyny leveled at both it and David Lynch in general have stuck around long enough to warrant mention here. Here is an essay that discusses it in relation to Laura's death and the reveal of Leland as her killer:
