We are joined by Ben from UnchartedX, and Prof Shy from the "Evidence for Giants" episodes to discuss our recent trip to Peru. We look at multiple mysterious sites in Peru and discuss the megalithic stonework, the possibility of a lost civilization and lost technology that far pre-dates the ancient Inca to which these structures and carvings are normally attributed to. Remote viewing data says there were ancient civilizations on Mars. Amazingly, that would corroborate extremely old art and underground civilizations found right here on Earth. How have cyclical events throughout the solar system's history affected the rise and fall of cultures? Was interplanetary travel once common? In this episode, John and Rob talk about the H blocks at Pumapunku, Cydonia on Mars, the pyramids, and more.
This time, we will explore the fantastic ruins of Puma Punku (or Pumapunku), a temple complex located within Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco or Tiahuanacu). This site lies in modern Bolivia, and its stunning stone masonry has given rise to speculation about alien visitation. Let's investigate the site, what we know, and what has been done in the past. We will see that the alien theories are rather lazy compared to the site's real history and archaeology. In Digging up Ancient Aliens, our host Fredrik uses his background in archaeology to discover what is genuine, fake, and somewhere in between in popular media, such as Ancient Aliens, Ancient Apocalypse, and many other places. In this episode:The History of Tiwanaku and Puma Punku (2:16)When was the site built, and what is the area's history?Construction of Puma Punku (20:23)How was the site built? We use experimental archaeology to learn how the site could have been constructed. This week we decided to travel all around the world to explore some of the craziest and most interesting places we could find. Kelsey starts us off with a collection of almost all naturally occurring wonders. From some of the saltiest places of earth, to a few places with enough acid to melt your face off and everything in between. Alanna covers a number of stone circles and stone megaliths that have puzzled visitors and researchers alike for centuries. We wish we could travel to all of these places, if only we had unlimited time and money......sigh. You definitely want to check out the website for pictures this week. Happy listening! In tonight's Part Two of our series, we continue with the "Why?" of Tiwanaku and Pumapunku. As in, why was it all built? Why did Tiwanaku society spend so much effort and resources on it, and what did it mean to them? We then transition to the "How?" such a monumental architectural and cultural feat could be accomplished. What craftsmanship skills and construction technology did they possess to erect structures that continue to baffle present-day archaeologists and engineers? Could an organic technique of creating geopolymers, or essentially a type of concrete, explain the precise geometric shapes attained? Or was it a combination with a lost art of stone softening and shaping to achieve such exact tolerances? Perhaps they were just some of the best stonemasons in the world, with modern-quality chisels, drills, saws, and generations of labor at their disposal? And how did they come by their craft, through observation of nature and technical evolution, or some otherworldly source? We'll ask our good friend, Chemical Engineer Dr. Chris Cogswell, Ph.D., of The Mad Scientist Podcast, about the theoretical possibilities of ancient formulations as it applies to material sciences and their implications. Finally, we'll speculate on hypotheses and one aspect of the Tiwanaku enigma that is no less important than studying its stones – the legends and the beliefs that sparked its creation. For it is the folklore and spirituality of a culture that echoes through the ages, adding wonder about the mystery of Pumapunku. Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode!
We've all heard of the mystical and wondrous ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica and South America: The Maya, Olmecs, Aztecs, and the Inca. But one culture that developed on the southern end of Lake Titicaca in present-day western Bolivia near the border with Peru left behind ruins so monumental they continue to intrigue archaeologists and spark hypotheses of anachronistic, advanced technologies. The Inca referred to Lake Titicaca as their origin place. The culture that evolved in the region became known as Yaya-Mama, or “Father-Mother,” for the sculptures depicting dualistic Male-Female opposites. The remains of the capital city for this society are now known as Tiwanaku, one of the most significant archaeological sites in South America. Beginning as a small village in the BCE period, Tiwanaku grew to an enormous metropolis for its time. Peaking around 700 to 1000 CE, with a population near 40,000 and as many as 500,000 people settling in the high plains valley, what remains is a little over one and a half square miles of artifacts such as impressively carved stone gates and monolith statues, artisan ceramics, and quality metalwork. But perhaps the most awe-inspiring remnants are found at a particular spot within Tiwanaku called Pumapunku. Translating as “Gate of the Puma,” archaeologists define Pumapunku as a ceremonial and elite residential complex constructed in the typical fashion of a sunken court surrounded by plazas and ramps, sitting on a terraced platform mound. Yet what makes Pumapunku stand out from other similarly designed sites is the sophisticated masonry of its massive stone blocks ranging in size from 30 to 130 tons. Baffling as it is to imagine how these stones may have been quarried and moved great distances, it's even more unaccountable how the Tiwanaku were able to cut the blocks so precisely they fit like interlocking puzzle pieces. This feat has some guessing the lost techniques were known only to them or even guided by otherworldly visitors. With construction beginning between 500 and 600 CE and rebuilt over the following centuries, the city would fall just as mysteriously, sometime around 1000 CE. Whether from natural disaster, withering from internal strife, or some violent end, Pumapunku and Tiwanaku leave us with one of the world's great archaeological enigmas. Tonight, we unearth the artifacts and culture of a city once known by the Aymara people of the Bolivian Andes as “stone in the center,” meaning the center of the world. Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode!
The site of Pumapunku is home to some incredible, immaculate carved stones that are so precise that researchers are still today trying to find out how they were made. And, of course, whenever there's a gap in knowledge, ancient astronaut theorists always fill it with ALIENS! But beyond those weirdos, these important ancient sites have been co-opted and weaponized by completely different peoples and political groups to try and spread their own agendas. "Ancient astronaut theory" refers to the idea that intelligent extraterrestrial beings visited Earth and made contact with humans in antiquity and prehistoric times. I talk with Sara from THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL FANTASIES PODCAST about, well, paranormal archaeology for one. We hit on ancient aliens, monsters that cry themselves into a puddle, dibbuk boxes, and early 20th century architecture in Philadelphia. No, seriously. Architecture. Philly. We talk about it! And a ton of other random thoughts and ideas that swirl into a coherent story that makes sense, thanks more to Sara than me! It's a damn fun, damn interesting interview.Archaeological FantasiesTwitter: @archyfantasiesFacebook: ArchyFantasies
A look at some of the ancient sites and cities that the show Ancient Aliens gets totally wrong.
On this very special episode of ParaReality Radio, I'm joined by my part-time co-host Eric along with special guest John Harrison. If you've listened to my podcast for the last couple of years, you'll be familiar with John Harrison. He's been a guest on the podcast several times and has made regular appearances on the Skeptic's Night episodes. Mr. Harrison is a medical professional, chemist, biologist, scientist and confirmed paranormal skeptic. He holds several degrees in biology, chemistry and nursing and has worked as a scientist and medical professional. Together, the three of us will be debating the ancient alien theory and whether or not it is possible that aliens visited our planet in the distant past and helped our ancestors engineer such sites as Puma Punku, Cusco and the Egyptian Pyramids. Did these ancient aliens also help to genetically alter the DNA of our ancestors and ultimately develop us into the Homo Sapiens that we are today? Why does every ancient culture have a deluge story that is almost exactly the same? Why did our ancestors view these aliens as gods? If aliens did visit our planet in the ancient past, how did they get here? What technology did they use and what was their purpose for intervening in our timeline? These are just a few of the questions that we'll be debating. We each have a different point of view - one of the believer, one of the skeptic and one who is undecided. Who is who? Why does each one of us have a different opinion? Whose mind will be changed at the end of our debate? To learn more, you'll have to Turn On, Tune In & Find Out!
Ancient alien historians theorize this will be an extra out-there episode of Hysteria 51. This week we’re “live” (not really a thing in podcasts I guess) from AlienCon 2019 in Los Angeles. See, they call Los Angeles the "City Of Angels"; but I didn't find it to be that, exactly. But I'll allow it as there are some nice folks there. Course I ain't never been to London, and I ain't never seen France. And I ain't never seen no queen in her undies, so the feller says. But I'll tell you what - after seeing Los Angeles…wait I’m getting of track here – back to this week’s show! Did someone say Pumapunku? Maybe not, but David Childress joins us. While we’re at it we catch up with Mike Bara and wind up talking Tesla. Then we top this delicious treat with a dollop of Dr Chris Cogswell as he explains how science can help us understand aliens (silly, we know). All of that and more on the podcast that, well, it's the podcast for its time and place. It fits right in there. And that's Hysteria 51.
Our world is filled with mystery and fascinating legends and stories that up until this day, still cannot be explained. Scientist, explorers and Archeologists alike continue to be astonished by how objects and certain natural phenomena have occurred and just so happen to make their way on our planet without any written history to back it up. Archeologists have found secret tunnels in parts of Europe that still are a mystery to top historians who still question what they were really used for. In Costa Rica, there are over 300 perfectly rounded spheres that are commonly attributed to the Diquis culture but still remain a great unsolved archeological mystery. Let's also mention the Copper Scroll Treasure which is part of the Dead Sea Scroll, which apparently reveals the location of lost temple treasures that are yet to be found. These unsolved findings and more are what make our world that much more perplexing. On tonight's episode, I'll be counting down my top 15 mysterious findings on earth that believe it or not, even the best scientist cannot explain, even with today's highly advanced technology. Were the people living in ancient civilizations more high-tech than we believed? And is there really a dinosaur-like creature living in the depths of the waters of the Scottish Highlands? These mysterious findings and legends continue to baffle us to this day and we might not ever understand how they came about.
Are we alone? The guys figure it out while talking Ancient Aliens, Pumapunku, The Sphinx, and the Antikythera Mechanism.
Are the ginormous Nazca lines of Peru the product of Ancient Alien intervention with more primitive peoples? How did the men and women from 1500 years ago carve such straight angles and make such intricate geometric symbols in the limestone-laden earth? Why would they go through so much effort to carve hundreds of geoglyphs meant to be seen from the sky if they weren’t sure the gods were flying overhead to appreciate their attempt at communication? Are the Nazca lines signposts to the local Inca cities in the area where the aliens could be directed to go party more with the Pumapunku peeps? You better believe (you BETTER!) that our plucky Ancient Astronaut Theorist have all the evidence-based answers you could ever want, and that they offer some rock...hard...evidence as to what the Nazca lines were truly for, and exactly what they mean. Uuuuuh yeah...and Joey and Steve jerk off on Sundays! Am I right?! Any let’s prooooooooooobe into those limestone Nazca lines, baby!

How well do you know your Skeptoid? Today's pop quiz focuses on ancient mysteries.
Sorry for the late ep! We're talkin' 'bout the big...bulbous...bloooooocks of Bolivia's own Pumapunku temple, and how noone could ever sand a bunch of rocks down with other rocks or lift anything heavy! This is a big time Childress-heavy 'sode (much to our delight!) and he gets some real man-time with fellow ancient astronaut theorist, Brian Foerster, and talk about some problematic (for multiple reasons) pieces of evidence found around the megalithic structure that is Puma Punku. Steve and Joey do plenty of debunking as well, turning the building of this massive structure into something far less paranormal, but...in moi moind...no less amazing in it's engineering. Let's PROOOOOOOOOBE into Christopher Dunn's suspect engineering speculation!

Join Greg Carlwood, host of The Higherside Chats as he talks elongated Paracas skulls, lost continents and ancient mysteries with, Brien Foerster. While the evidence left behind by ancient cultures clearly indicates a ritual practice of cranial deformation, the reasons for this bizarre custom are still open to speculation. Today's guest, Brien Foerster has become one of the leading experts of Paracas skulls and dedicated countless years of research to pulling back the curtain to expose what While we have all heard the legends of ancient cultures partaking in strange and unusual practices, the evidence overwhelming points in many cases we are only left with artifacts to comb through. real life Indiana Jones author, 2:03 While we all know the history books have stuck to the conventional story and ignored any contradictory evidence, unearthered artifacts from across the globe indicate several holes in history. Brien and Greg begin by discussing the ancient global phenomenon of elongated skulls. While in most cases, cranial deformation appears to be an intentional practice among the elites there are some anomalous occurrences that appear to be natural. Foerster describes distinguishing qualities that differentiate naturally elongated skulls from homo sapiens. 7:52 Although the Paracas culture may be one of the least studied cultures in all of Peru, what researchers do know is incredibly fascinating. Aside from the elongated skulls, another interesting peculiarity about the Paracas culture is their genetically red hair, which is more closely related to Caucasian ancestry than Native American. Foerster explains how the origins of red hair are actually rooted in the Middle East, and after taking migration patterns into account, it is plausible that Nordic and European civilizations can be traced back to Russia, "the land of red hair". 13:42 After elaborating on the archetypal ancient teachers such as Quetzalcoatl, Greg and Brien turn their attention to the curious relationship between reptiles and elevators of mankind. Brien explains the symbolism of native oral tradition and the importance of totems such as the serpent, condor and puma in the Inca culture and how this relates to the modern day understanding of consciousness. 16:15 Returning to the ancient sites of Peru and Bolivia, Greg and Brien discuss Tiwanaku and Pumapunku. Foerster details these sites for listeners and explains how elongated skulls have been found throughout many megalithic sites in the world. 20:42 Greg and Brien discuss the Path of Viracocha- an energetic line connecting many of the ancient megaliths . As Foerster explains, there are several indications of esoteric use for these sites including the use of high forms of technology, even beyond our capabilities today. He also details how the varying construction indicates that these are three separate ancient civilizations. 28:19 Revisiting The Path of Viracocha, Greg and Brien discuss the elaborate network of underground tunnels running beneath, connecting several ancient sites. Foerster continues by describing local lore of a subterranean lake only accessible through these tunnels, and details his personal explorations of these tunnels of Cusco. He also elaborates on the research and findings of a French exploration team investigating a mile long passage from Saqsaywaman to Coricancha and the tunnels found deep within Giza Plateau. 34:49 Taking one step closer to the realm of weird, Greg and Brien discuss the curious case of the amphibian-humanoid skull uncovered in a cave labyrinth including one peculiar aspect of this particular find: a three-fingered hand. 40:18 Brien expands on his thoughts and research of Easter Island, as well as, whether or not they share any connection to other ancient sites like those in Peru. Though some claim the stone structures at Puma Punku were alien, archaeologists find no real mysteries there.
