The Inca civilization arose sometime in the early 13th century and included seventeen different Inca rulers that spanned from 1200 A.D. - 1533 A.D. The Inca Empire, called Tawantinsuyu by its subjects (Quechua for the "Realm of the Four Parts”) was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America, and at its height, this empire ruled over ten million subjects until its fall to the Spanish Conquest. In this episode I give a sweeping overview of the Inca empire: where they originated from, what gods they worshipped (namely the mysterious Viracocha), how they protected their royal bloodlines via in-breeding, their human sacrifices, their connection to the elongated skull culture of Paracas and much more. The civilizing cult of Central America was organized by a God named Quetzalcóatl. In South America his name was Viracocha. Both gods were caucasian, had beards, and wore white robes. They taught love, peace, and advanced sciences. Like Osiris in Egypt, who was conspired against and put inside a coffin on the Nile, and like Krishna at Dwarka, Viracocha was driven out of his capital of Cuzco by conspirators who set him on Lake Titicaca inside of a container. Quetzalcóatl was also driven out of his capital of Teotihuaca back into the ocean by the violent Tezcatilpoca, god of smoking mirrors, who demanded human sacrifice. Quetzalcóatl promised to one day return, as with so many other similar gods, to end the cult of child and adult sacrifice in exchange for sweet flowers and a state of peace. However, when the modern state of California moved to force children to chant the name of Tezcatilpoca in class we saw that his cult was still alive and well. The same progressive ideology is also adamant about abortion up until birth, or modern human sacrifice presented as a scientific and medical necessity. With the blood moon starting out election day, what could go wrong?

The roundtable then discussed the connection between the sleeping giant and legendary figures such as Quetzacoatl, Viracocha and Kukulcan who were predicted to return one day. Elena presented information that the sleeping giant was awakening as a result of an activation ceremony held at the conference that was led by Quetza Shah, an indigenous Aztec/Mayan shaman. Inti is the Incan sun god, and he is considered as the patron deity of the Inca Empire. Although most consider him to be a cluster of solar aspects, he is actually more of a deity than that. It was also believed that he was born of Viracocha.Inti was not often represented in Inca art but when he was it was usually as a gold statue, a sun disk or a golden mask. Gold was particularly associated with the god as it was believed that the precious metal was the sweat of the sun. The most sacred statue of his was kept in his shrine at Cuzco.Read more at https://mythlok.com/inti/

The other day I was looking through my collection of Zecharia Sitchin books and that got me to thinking about the Sumerian Flood Myth and how it predates the Biblical Deluge tale by around a thousand years. As I was thinking about this, I slowly began to realize that there are more than just those two tales of a great deluge – there are, in fact, several. The Biblical Deluge tale is no-doubt the best known of them, but did you know that all other tales of a great deluge predate the Bible? Not only that, but there are many other religious tales of some kind of great cataclysm that nearly destroys mankind! The Christian tale of the Great Deluge is just one of them. And that, my friends, is what I will be investigating tonight on ParaReality. First, I'll take a look at some of the Great Deluge tales from various religions, then, in part 2, I'll discuss some of the other great cataclysm tales.

In ancient Peru, he was given a headdress and a battle-axe by Manco Capac, the first Inca ruler. His name was also assumed by King Viracocha Inca. While the Incans did not have written language, their rich oral traditions were still maintained by the legends surrounding him. The resulting creation story, the big bang, was hailed as a triumph of reason and cosmic understanding. Why do so many ancient religions share similarities and why did they all venerate the sun? In this video, Lara gives an overview of how a lost global ancient civilization of pyramid and megalith builders practiced a religion of the sun, which became the basis of many of today's religions. Vast numbers of megalithic sites across the ancient world align to the sun at the solstices and equinoxes, including Stonehenge, the Great Sphinx of Egypt, the statues of Easter Island, the temple at Angkor Wat, and Machu Picchu in Peru. And so many chief ancient deities were symbolized by the sun and revered as sun gods, including Viracocha and Osiris. Even today billions of people still celebrate the solstice.

On this edition of The Micah Hanks Program, after a re-cap of Micah's recent visit to a Bigfoot conference, we touch on the fires that have been devastating the Amazon jungles for the last several weeks, as well as NASA's investigation of what could be the first crime committed in space. Also, we report on RNA that was recently sequenced from a wolf-hybrid puppy that lived more than 14,000 years ago, and why it has become the latest landmark achievement in genetic science.  Then getting into the discussion of anomalies in archaeology, we begin with a look at a peculiar story about a Wisconsin lake, which involves many local divers who, for decades now, have said they have observed a series of pyramid-like stone structures at the bottom of Rock Lake. The archaeological community has dismissed the stories, noting the likelihood that these are merely stones piles that were deposited at the end of the last ice age; but has the potential for actual structures of unknown provenance been completely ruled out?  This leads us to the Rock Lake enigma's connection with a nearby archaeological site called Azatlan, which shares its name with the fabled original homeland of the Aztecs. Some look at this aspect of the Aztec mythology as being similar to the fabled Atlantis, which philosopher Plato wrote about centuries ago; but whether or not Atlantis really existed, there are some remarkable archaeological discoveries being made today which suggest that people in the ancient world were far more well-traveled than we once thought. Curious legends like those of the pre-Inca tradition of "Viracocha" have perplexed scholars with their hinting at possible interactions between different cultures in the ancient world. Such stories were also what fueled Thor Heyerdahl to sail across the Pacific Ocean, to prove that ancient people might have done the same. Could early migrations into the Americas have occurred much earlier than once thought, and perhaps with the help of ancient sailing vessels? And if so, where did some of those early arrivals come from originally?  Below are links to stories discussed on this week's program: Amazon rainforest fire: What's happening now and how you can help Nasa said to be investigating first allegation of a crime in space Scientists Sequence RNA of 14,300-Year-Old Wolf Puppy Viracocha and the Legendary Origins of the Inca Epic pre-Columbian voyage suggested by genes Become an X Subscriber and get even more great podcasts and monthly specials from Micah Hanks. What’s one thing we all have in common?Regardless of your wealth or poverty, your skin color, your nationality, your politics, or even religious affiliation, there’s one thing you can count on sharing with every other living human being—and that is, one day, NOT being a living human being.Death unites us all. In the end.In my novel The Girl in the Mayan Tomb one of the most pivotal characters never actually shows up, never has a line of dialogue, and never interacts with any of the other characters. Still, the Mayan god, Ah Puch, has a sinister and ominous presence in the story, for sure. He helps to drive the action, giving Dan Kotler plenty to work with regarding legend and mythos and hidden secrets. Ah Puch manages to threaten the modern world from deep within the tomb of history. Pretty cool stuff. The kind of legend that archaeological thrillers are made of.In the book, I give some details about Ah Puch and his role in Mayan culture. There are tidbits and cool facts, plenty of Wikipedia-level information about him. I'd call it a nice overview, rather than an in-depth look into who and what he was, and that's intentional.I'm not writing histories here, I'm writing fictional adventures. Still, you want to get some things right.I admit that some details are skewed, if not made up entirely. There's no evidence linking Ah Puch to the Inca god Viracocha, for example. At least, none I'm aware of. But connecting those two ideas helped me to build some intrigue into the story, plus a bit of that "misplaced history" that I love folding into the batter of these books before baking them to a nice, crispy brown. Little concessions to the history behind the fiction were a necessity for the story, but the core of the Ah Puch legend is real, and I kept that intact as much as possible.True, Ah Puch is one of the names of the Mayan god of death, darkness, and destruction, but what fascinates me is that he is also the god of birth and new beginnings, making him a study in opposites. He actually manages to embody the two extremes of human existence, as if he would be the one standing at the door between life and death, greeting you no matter which direction you're moving. That appeals to me for its aesthetic encapsulation of the cycle of life: Ah Puch alone would have a complete outsider's perspective on both life and death in the Mayan world. He'd be the unbiased witness to all of it.Having an outsider's perspective on something as profound as all of life and death has to lead to an equally profound level of wisdom. At least, that's how I see it, from my own highly biased perspective as a living human. And so I think it's not entirely a coincidence that one of the dominant totems for Ah Puch was the owl—a creature we've come to associate with wisdom itself. Though there's really no reason why ancient Mayan cultures would have seen the owl in just this way—I could be backfilling my own cognitive bias onto the symbolism of an ancient civilization. But the idea of "wise old Mr. Owl" has some deep roots, and there's nothing to say that ancient Mayans didn't think of owls in more or less the same way.Again, it's fiction. I'm pretty ok with making a few leaps. It’s far more likely, though, that the owl became associated with Ah Puch because of his role as not only the god of death but the god of darkness and disaster as well. Owls, by their very nature, are nocturnal, hunting small prey in the night and taking them off into the darkness where they are consumed. If you happen to be a rodent, that’s some pretty disastrous stuff. I can certainly see the Mayans watching this and connecting it to their own small roles in the panoply of the Amazon jungles. If anyone was wise to the cycle of life and death, it was the Mayans. It isn’t much of a leap to think of the god of death as a predatory bird swooping down to snatch the lives of humans, to carry them off into the dark and indiscernible underworld. Which underworld, however, was sort of up in the air.In Western culture, we tend to lump the Mayans into one solid category, but their civilization was a lot more complex and nuanced than we might imagine. As a general not-quite-unified civilization, the Mayans were spread throughout Central America and Mexico, with some hints of them extending to further extremes on the Southern Continent. Mayan settlements peppered the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize—it was an empire widespread enough to rival the Roman and British empires, at least to scale, though it predated both by thousands of years.Wrap your brain around that one for a second. The Mayans were a fully functional, tool-wielding, government-operating culture, building epic stone structures and inventing mythologies and unfolding histories before most Europeans ever were Europeans.Though all of these Mayan tribes (if "tribes" is even the right word) shared some common core beliefs, by necessity some of the specifics would skew from the core as an ancient game of telephone played out. One tribe would take its beliefs and mythology in this slightly shifted direction, while another took it in that moderately altered perspective. As such we find that Ah Puch had a catalog of names: Hun Ahau, Yum Cimil, Cum Hau, Pukuh, Cizin, and a host of variations on some of these, alongside a plethora of mythical and mystical origins, motivations, and enemies.Ah Puch also ended up with a wealth of homeworlds. Nearly every Mayan group had its own ideas of where Ah Puch lived when he wasn't capturing souls on Earth, relegating them to an array of underworlds. The Yucatec Maya referred to Ah Puch's home turf as Xibaba, for example, while the Quiche Maya called the underworld Metnal.I sort of prefer the latter.Metnal was the lowest level of the underworld, which makes a kind of sense. When we die, regardless of our culture and traditions, we are almost always on a one-way trip into the dirt at our feet. It's only logical that most cultures would begin to think of the afterlife as a place below us, a world played out in caverns and caves. What I find fascinating is the presence of "levels" of the underworld in Mayan culture, in a close and bizarre parallel to the way Westerners defer to Dante's Divine Comedy, particularly Inferno, to describe the afterlife. Metnal was the lowest level of the underworld to the Mayans in much the same way that the Inferno was represented as stacked layers of hell to Europeans. What a strange place to find parallels between two distant and disparate societies, right? And then there was the devil himself. As a god of death, Ah Puch was associated with some of the more heinous aspects of human culture and life, including disease, war, and that horrific but macabrely fascinating practice—human sacrifice. I drew from this for Girl in the Mayan Tomb, principally the disease bits, and I regret nothing. History and legend and myth tend to have some root in real-world, discernible fact, and it seems plausible (to me, at least) that if a culture worships a god who controls disease, they might hold disease itself in some reverence. If you haven't read the book, I don't think I'm throwing any spoilers out there, but it relies pretty heavily on this idea of disease as a form of worship. We Westerners tend to filter our perspective of history and mythology through the pantheons of ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, the Romans, the Norse. But there are so many gods out there—an endless parade of them in every culture, and in every shape and form imaginable. The thing that tingles in my brain and my soul, every time I read and learn more about these pantheons and their gods, is how similar they can be.Ah Puch has his parallels in the Greek god of death Thanatos (which may sound a little familiar to fans of the Avengers films and Marvel Comics in general, as an inspiration for the character Thanos). There are parallels as well with gods such as Hades (Greek), Anubis (Egyptian), Yama (Hindu), Osiris (Egyptian), Azrael (Judaism), Yan Luo (Chinese), the Morrigan (Celtic) and many, many more.I could have chosen any Mayan death god—there were several. But Ah Puch piqued my attention for a variety of reasons. His symbols—including the skeletal figure you might expect, as well as the predatory owl—were intriguing to me, as was the sort of cognitive dissonance of his roles as both the god of death and the god of birth. His name itself was a sort of draw, giving me a chance to have Agent Roland Denzel continually fumbling it, getting close but never quite getting it right. How could I pass on a good "Ah-Choo" joke?Trick question. I can't.History and mythology are so overripe with characters like Ah Puch that I could write about them for the rest of my life and still leave stories untold. That, of course, is the biggest draw of all. There's also the satisfaction of knowing I'm calling attention to characters who may otherwise have been lost to history, or at least to the pop-culture filter of history.I'm happy to have helped bring Ah Puch into the modern spotlight a little. He probably wouldn't like it much, but it was fun all the same. Delivering a dark and forgotten god forward into history allowed me to dig a little deeper into a lost (mostly lost) culture, to think about how they thought and lived and understood the world around them, and to come away with some new insights and perspectives that I could share, hopefully in exciting, action-packed ways. That's half of why I write in the first place—to explore the Written World we sometimes live in parallel to, and never fully realize is there. If you enjoyed this little tale …IF YOU ENJOYED THIS LITTLE TALE …You might enjoy a good thriller novel. And I happen to write thriller novels. Brien and Greg begin by discussing the ancient global phenomenon of elongated skulls. While in most cases, cranial deformation appears to be an intentional practice among the elites there are some anomalous occurrences that appear to be natural. Foerster describes distinguishing qualities that differentiate naturally elongated skulls from homo sapiens. 7:52 Although the Paracas culture may be one of the least studied cultures in all of Peru, what researchers do know is incredibly fascinating. Aside from the elongated skulls, another interesting  peculiarity about the Paracas culture is their genetically red hair, which is more closely related to Caucasian ancestry than Native American. Foerster explains how the origins of red hair are actually rooted in the Middle East, and after taking migration patterns into account, it is plausible that Nordic and European civilizations can be traced back to Russia,  "the land of red hair". 13:42 After elaborating on the archetypal ancient teachers such as Quetzalcoatl, Greg and Brien turn their attention to the curious relationship between reptiles and elevators of mankind. Brien explains the symbolism of native oral tradition and the importance of totems such as the serpent, condor and puma in the Inca culture and how this relates to the modern day understanding of consciousness. 16:15 Returning to the ancient sites of Peru and Bolivia, Greg and Brien discuss Tiwanaku and Pumapunku. Foerster details these sites for listeners and explains how elongated skulls have been found throughout many megalithic sites in the world. 20:42 Greg and Brien discuss the Path of Viracocha- an energetic line connecting many of the ancient megaliths . As Foerster explains, there are several indications of esoteric use for these sites including the use of high forms of technology, even beyond our capabilities today. He also details how the varying construction indicates that these are three separate ancient civilizations. 28:19 Revisiting The Path of Viracocha, Greg and Brien discuss the elaborate network of underground tunnels running beneath, connecting several ancient sites. Foerster continues by describing local lore of a subterranean lake only accessible through these tunnels, and details his personal explorations of these tunnels of Cusco. He also elaborates on the research and findings of a French exploration team investigating  a mile long passage from Saqsaywaman to Coricancha and the tunnels found deep within Giza Plateau. 34:49 Taking one step closer to the realm of weird, Greg and Brien discuss the curious case of the amphibian-humanoid skull uncovered in a cave labyrinth including one peculiar aspect of this particular find: a three-fingered hand. 40:18 Brien expands on his thoughts and research of Easter Island, as well as, whether or not they share any connection to other ancient sites like those in Peru. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys talk about how a lot of people mix up children's names or friends' names and as it turns out it's because you love them. It's not related to a bad memory or to aging, but rather to how the brain categorizes names. It's like having special folders for family names and friends names stored in the brain. Then, according to a new study recently published in the journal Science Advances, evidence shows that humans occupied much of the Sahara during the ‘wet period’ around 8,000 years ago. Through an analysis of marine sediments, researchers at the University of Arizona have determined rainfall patterns in the Sahara over a period of 6,000 years obtaining fascinating results. The UA-led team has identified the climate pattern that generated a “Green Sahara” from 5,000 to 11,000 years ago. The region had 10 times the rainfall it does today. Then, a Tennessee resident was recently startled by a Bigfoot type creature. Around 10:00pm a man heard some rustling around on his back patio. He went out to investigate and that's when he saw a large hairy humanoid. Then, Cam brings up the story of "Viracocha". Viracocha was the supreme god of the Incas. He is also known as Huiracocha, Wiraqoca and Wiro Qocha. Considered the creator god he was the father of all other Inca gods and it was he who formed the earth, heavens, sun, moon and all living beings. When he finished his work he was believed to have travelled far and wide teaching humanity and bringing the civilised arts before he headed west across the Pacific, never to be seen again but promising one day to return. In his absence lesser deities were assigned the duty of looking after the interests of the human race but Viracocha was, nevertheless, always watching from afar the progress of his children. In Ashley’s blog series, Quest for the Inca Gold Sun disk, we follow the exploration for a lost  golden disk, once located in The Temple of the Sun at Cusco Peru. Said to be an information receptacle capable of sending energy (and perhaps information) to 328 sacred sites across the Inca empire, we discover insight into Viracocha, and Inca God and Andean Cosmology that can change mankind.Viracocha, also known as Huiracocha, Wiraqoca and Wiro Qocha was the supreme god of the Incas, the father of all other gods. He was most often described as an old, fair-skinned, bearded man, wearing a long robe and supported by a staff. He was believed to have formed the earth, sun, moon, planets, heavens, stars and all living beings. When he had completed his cosmic design, he "journeyed far to the north west teaching humanity and the arts before he sailed west across the Pacific, promising one day to return to Lake Titicaca."Ashley Cowie has covered the planet in a number of specials for television including, NBC’s The Legend Quest, STV’s "The Hour Show"  and the top rating UK history show -"The People's History Show". Having a unique insight into the craft skills of ancient builders, the inner workings of ancient religions, esoteric philosophies, bizarre sub-cultures and secret societies, he’s currently features on several documentaries on PBS and History Channel, including the award winning "Great Estates". http://ashleycowie.com/new-blog/unearthing-the-incas-lost-sun-path

Who Is God - Who Does He Claim to Be? Who is God? He's been described as everything from an impersonal life-force to a benevolent, personal, almighty Creator. He has been called by many names, including: "Zeus," "Jupiter," "Brahma," "Allah," "Ra," "Odin," "Ashur," "Izanagi," "Viracocha," "Ahura Mazda," and "the Great Spirit" to name just a few. He's seen by some as "Mother Nature" and by others as "Father God." But who is He really? Who does He claim to be?  ***His prophets acknowledged Him as Father by saying, "You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand,"3 and "do we not all have one Father? Has not one God created us?"4 Never once does God refer to Himself as "Mother" and never once is He called such by the prophets to whom He spoke. Calling God "Mother Nature" is comparable to calling your earthly father "Mom."
