Alex and I had a great time reviewing the Jesus Revolution and the part Hope Chapel played in it.It was what historians call a spiritual awakening. I only realized that as it ended. Until then my peer group mostly thought we were smarter than those who had preceded us.It couldn't be called just a revival as it wasn't about reviving a dying church but effected a transformation in the outside culture. One of the early earmarks of the movement was the presence of miracles. Mostly we saw people delivered from the grip of hard drugs without counseling or treatment. But there were healings, events involving protection from fires and extreme weather, and of course healings. The Jesus Revolution movie is worth watching as it catches much of what the Spirit was doing. However, it would need to be a prolonged series to fully depict those exciting times. After others view the film I get asked, "Did those things really happen?" The answer is that those things did happen but in a larger sense than could be depicted on film. The baptisms were bigger. The miracles were everyday events. Chuck Smith was a great Bible teacher going into it and Lonnie Frisbee was no rebel but had a supernatural anointing that caused some leaders discomfort.I hope the talk Alex initiated will strengthen you in your own hunger for more from God.For more from Alex check his website at dandelionresourcing.com. Some of us are old enough to have lived through the Jesus Revolution. In this podcast I tell of how I resisted it in the beginning (because I was too churchy and uptight). We'll get into the things that softened my heart and those of many others. I rejoice in the lessons I learned from Chuck Smith and my awe of 16-year-old Greg Laurie when he wrote and illustrated a simple booklet opening the hearts of thousands to listen to the message. You'll hear of the influence of Duane Pederson, an unemployed kid's TV actor, who "invented" the Hollywood Free Paper which eventually went to a publication of more than two million every other Thursday. That "Jesus rag" heavily shaped the movement. The attendant free concerts probably gave impetus to what morphed into seeker-driven churches. Finally, you'll learn why and how you could use the movie, The Jesus Revolution, to generate hope for evangelizing Gen Z. THE RESEARCH JOURNEY OF SUSTAINABLE ROSES Dr. David Byrne Professor & Basye Endowed Chair in Rose Genetics Department  Texas A&M University   On today's show, we take a look at where we've been and where we are going with research on sustainable roses with one of the world's leading experts Dr. David Byrne.   ABOUT DR. BYRNE   David Byrne, a Professor in Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University, currently holds the Basye Endowed Chair in Rose Genetics. Since 1983, he has run the Stone Fruit Breeding Program and has developed over 20 medium- to low-chill peaches and nectarines which has expanded the cultivar choice for this adaptation zone to include both subacid and traditional acid flavors, a range of flesh colors (white, yellow/orange and red), and donut type fruit. In the early 1990s, working with Dr. Robert Basye, a rose breeder and retired Professor of Mathematics, he began the Rose Breeding and Genetics Program which was enhanced by the donation of the breeding stock from the Father of the Miniature Rose, Ralph Moore.   He along with his colleague, Dr. Oscar Riera-Lizarazu breeds to develop well-adapted sustainable garden roses (resistant to RRD, black spot, cercospora, and heat tolerant).   He led the “Combating Rose Rosette Disease” SCRI project, worked with the SCRI “RosBREED 2” project on black spot resistance, leads the ‘Tools for Genomics-Assisted Breeding in Polyploids' and the “Developing Sustainable Rose Landscapes” projects, and chairs the National Clean Plant Network for Roses. Ongoing projects involve the development and integration of computational breeding tools to effectively utilize genomic information in polyploid crops.   His collaborative work with private rose breeders to develop advanced breeding tools to introgress disease resistance and other traits will lead to a more rapid conversion of the commercial rose germplasm into a disease resistant background. Over the past decade, he has mentored 20 graduate students, published about 60 articles, given about 140 talks, and released 23 Prunus and 6 Rosa cultivars.   ROSE CHAT TEAM:   Executive Producer & On-Air Personality: Chris VanCleave - www.RedneckRosarian.com Creator of the Rose Chat Podcast. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...Oops, someone else used that line.We do live in difficult times. However, there are opportunities everywhere you turn. Sure, more than 70 percent of Americans reject the church. But that means that the fields are white unto harvest. Reaching into the harvest won't work using the tools of the past or pretending that our values still dominate. We need to think differently. Flexibility and adaptability within scriptural boundaries actually suggest that these might be the best of times for the church. That may seem a foreign thought to you but it is true. The church prevailed over culture and grew the fastest during times similar to these. Those early believers had no internet, snailmail, podcasts or even bicycles yet they changed an empire from the inside out. I don't much like thinking of myself as a stranger--worse yet an alien yet that is what we are to the surrounding world. Those are also words describing us in scripture. If we embrace them we'll find some paradigms broken and programs disrupted. We'll also discover fresh wind from the Spirit and a flow of living water long bottled up in a sometimes burdensome program-based approach to our great task. This podcast is taken from a course called Doing Church In a Post-Christian Era at ralphmoore.net. It's also available to those enrolled in the Equippers Lab on the site. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On June 22, 2023, Mother Mary Lange, founder of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, was declared venerable by Pope Francis. This declaration of venerable moves Mother Lange a step closer to being one of the first African Americans from the United States to be granted sainthood. To learn more about the six Santo Subito candidates, and to read and sign a copy of the letter that St. Ann's has composed to Pope Francis, please visit: https://clintonfranciscans.com/the-center-podcast "Sweet Times" is by All Bets Off, and is provided by Adobe Stock.

Welcome to Season Two: Episode 29. In this episode, Scott and Luis have a conversation with our friend, Ralph Moore. Ralph was previously on an APEST series episode: the apostle. But in this episode Ralph shares the incredible story of multiplication from Hope Chapel, which has planted more than 2,600 churches globally. Hope Chapel is one of the few level 5 churches in North America. This story is incredible, and towards the end, Ralph gives some thoughts about the microchurch movement in the present. This episode is a testament to church multiplication! Ralph Moore is the Founding Pastor of three churches, which grew into the Hope Chapel 'movement' now numbering more than 2,600 churches worldwide. These are the offspring of the 70+ congregations launched from Ralph's hands-on disciplemaking efforts. He pastored the longest in Hawaii, where he was 29 years at Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay (now Anchor Church) and 6 years at Hope Chapel Honolulu. Of the 2,600 churches, 63 are in Hawaii. He currently serves as "Church Multiplication Catalyzer" for Exponential.org. In addition to this, he travels the globe, teaching church multiplication to pastors in startup movements. He's authored several books, including Let Go of the Ring: The Hope Chapel Story, Making Disciples, How to Multiply Your Church, Starting a New Church, and Defeating Anxiety. Welcome to Sean Two: Episode 22. This episode is the first of several that will breakdown and discuss a direct term from the acronym apest, which is biblically-based in Ephesians 4:11-12, "11 And he [Jesus] gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ" (ESV). Each week will be centered on specific gifting of the apest, this week we are talking about the apostle. Luis and Scott are joined by a special guest: Ralph Moore! I had the good fortune to meet Ben Sandell on a speaking trip to Finland. We shared a ride back and forth between Helsinki and the location where I spoke. That gave us more than four hours of talk time in the car. A friendship was born. The conference was amazing with 1,500-plus Charismatic Lutherans seated in bleachers in the public space of an indoor shopping mall/sports center. The Finns are very inventive people and the mall was amazing. The response of the people made it even better.Because of the unity between state and church the concept of "church planting" is not acceptable. So young leaders are planting "communities." Cultures vary from country to country but the basics of making disciples and multiplying believing communities remain much the same.Hope you enjoy this turnabout podcast... Hosted on Acast. This week we are In the Dojo with Ralph Moore. Ralph and his wife, Ruby, started the Hope Chapel movement when they planted Hope Chapel Hermosa Beach in California. Twelve years and 30 church plants later, they partnered with Aaron and Stephanie Suzuki and a team of 26 others to plant Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii (now Anchor Church). Lately, they and a team planted a third church, Hope Chapel Honolulu. Besides being church planters, they are happy parents and grandparents. Ralph currently travels the globe, training pastors and leaders with simple, no-cost tools for making disciples, training leaders in-house and multiplying churches.
