What if, while growing up, you found that you preferred sneakers to heels and jeans to dresses? And because you didn't really fit in with your peers, you thought maybe if things were different, if you were different, life might be easier. Actress, Rebecca Metz, chimed in once on set and joined the chorus of women talking about going on a diet. But what would you do if your co-worker wondered aloud why you would want to alter yourself for a part, when you were already working? Would you dismiss her comment as flattery and start counting calories? Or would you realize that being comfortable in your own skin is actually your greatest asset? This is Play It Forward. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward Episode 459 With Rebecca Metz From Better Things The story of Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon), a single mother and actor, raising her three daughters, Max (Mikey Madison), Frankie (Hannah Riley) and Duke (Olivia Edward) in Los Angeles. She also looks after her mother, Phil (Celia Imrie), an English expat who lives across the street. In its fifth and final chapter, Better Things focuses on 'the road ahead' for its unconventional, unfiltered heroine, who is so devoted to her life as a working actor and single mother of three that she's left little time for that one elusive thing: herself. As she navigates three daughters, each coming of age; the challenges of her chosen career; and her mother's increasing signs of aging (as well as her own)-Sam embraces each moment, and each member of her family, with a fierce love, raw honesty and biting humor. As each of the Fox women come of age into the next phase of their life, they are inspired to reevaluate themselves, learn from the past and find their own direction.

Guests: Peri Gilpin, Rebecca Metz Peri Gilpin talks with us about winning our listener vote as favorite guest of the year and Rebecca Metz talks about the final season of "Better Things".
Episode 593 of On Screen & Beyond brings Rebecca Metz to the OSB mic. Rebecca is known for her roles in many shows including "Better Things" which is coming to an end this month, "Shameless", "Coop and Cami Ask The World", "Nip Tuck" and more! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/on-screen-and-beyond/message
Rebecca Metz plays Pam Adlon's funny and very humane manager on FX's Better Things (one of my favorite shows) and that's just the beginning: she's been working in Hollywood for decades and has been on everything from Gilmore Girls to Malcolm in the Middle to Shameless to AJ and the Queen. Today's session is all about what it means to be in actor in Hollywood: the craft itself, the brutality of auditioning, how you persevere, and, most importantly, what you eat. Find out what Rebecca has for breakfast on shoot days, what she makes to unwind at home, how she overcame people-pleasing to become a better actor, and the food she ate growing up with a Jewish caterer grandfather. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Actor Rebecca Metz discusses her slow and steady build in Hollywood from guest parts to starring in her own series. It's an amazing story that perseverance pays off when you're focused on your dream. Rebecca Metz is unavoidable on your TV screen. Rebecca has guested on Weeds, Maron, This is Us, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, The Mentalist, Boston Legal, Californication, The Mindy Project, Lopez, ER, Scrubs, and the Gilmore Girls (just to scratch the surface). We discuss in detail her appearance on Nip/Tuck. Her scene was rated one of the top 23 most disturbing scenes ever on TV. It's an amazing story of taking a risk on a role and having it pay off. We also discuss Rebecca's reoccurring role on Shameless, her starring role on Coop and Cami Ask The World, and Rebecca's current series, Better Things on FX/Hulu. If that's not enough we also discuss our mutual love of The Muppets and Rebecca's unique wedding ceremony. So much fun to discover in this episode. This busy actress also stars on the popular Disney Channel show COOP & CAMI ASK THE WORLD. Earlier in her career Metz garnered small roles on THE KING OF QUEENS, GILMORE GIRLS, ER and SCRUBS.A proud Jersey girl born and raised in Bruce Springsteen's hometown of Freehold, NJ, Metz was drawn to acting from an early age. Her parents, both classically trained singers, inspired her to follow a creative path, as did a favorite childhood TV show. “I honestly think the impetus for wanting to be an actor came from watching The Muppet Show,” she says with a laugh, “and from the backstage scenes, where it's all chaos and crisis and everyone tries to keep from showing it onstage. I thought that looked really fun.”In addition to her frequent television and commercial work, Metz has appeared in numerous independent and short films as well as the upcoming Disney feature film MAGIC CAMP. She is also a voiceover and stage actor whose theater credits include Sheila Callaghan's KATE CRACKERNUTS (24th Street Theatre) and Burglars of Hamm's award-winning musical, THE BEHAVIOR OF BROADUS (Sacred Fools). There is no question that Rebecca Metz is all about the small screen. “Television is going to places it's never been before”, she declares. “And I get to be a part of that. Every time I go to work, or even go to an audition that is in the front of my mind. I feel very fortunate to be here for it.”Twitter: @therebeccametzInstagram: @therebeccametz

Rebecca is also a voiceover, stage and screen actor. Her most recent feature film is Disney’s Magic Camp. What you will learn: What it was like acting on the IFC series Maron (now streaming on Netflix), and being directed by the late, great Lynn Shelton [0:00-8:58] What auditioning for Shameless was like, as a fan of the show, and how a long-time connection with a casting agency has been crucial to her success; what it was like working with great actors and directors like William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. [8:58-15:48] How film and television auditions happen during the pandemic, and the uncertain future of theater; the theatrical influence that Rebecca’s classically trained singer parents had on her growing up. [34:12-39:43] What’s next for Rebecca and advice she would give people who are interested in pursuing a career in acting. [39:43-45:38]

We're excited to bring you an interview today with an actress with a stellar career and one our Nip/Tuck fans just might recognise from her very memorable guest role during the third season of the show, the one and only Rebecca Metz! In this great interview, Rebecca chats about THAT role on Nip/Tuck, as well as some of her other amazing roles throughout her career! We find out just how she landed the role of Abby Mays and what it was like to have to go through the fairly dark and depraved storyline that her character was involved in. We also learn just what it was like working with Julian McMahon, whether or not there was any gifts of paper bags after the show and how being on Nip/Tuck helped her with her career moving forward! It's one great interview that we're sure you won't want to miss!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

We really enjoyed speaking with Rebecca Metz about Disney, Acting, and how she got started with her career. Rebecca is a Disney fan just like us and stars in Coop & Cami Ask the World, on Disney+.
What a time to have such a wonderful, and funny, individual on the show for an interview! We had the opportunity to speak with actor, Rebecca Metz! We spoke to Rebecca about her time on the FX series, Better Things, as Tressa, who plays Sam's (Pamela Adlon) manager and friend! She tells us about some of how she got involved with the show, and what it's like to work with such a great group of people! We did also speak a little more broadly about Rebecca's career. We spoke about her foray into the horror side of things, and whether or not she thinks that might be something that she does more of in the future. AND, we spoke, all the way on the other end of the spectrum, about her show for kids, called Coop & Cami Ask The World. She has had a very fun career, and you'll see her in some awesome shows! Young and daring actor Paxton Booth is making waves in the entertainment industry through his philanthropic pursuits and work as a series regular on Disney Channel’s Coop & Cami Ask The World. Paxton stars alongside castmates Ruby Rose Turner, Dakota Lotus, Albert Tsai, Olivia Sanabia and Rebecca Metz. The show follows a brother-sister duo who make almost all of their decisions — both mundane and madcap — by crowdsourcing opinions from the millions of followers on their online channel ‘Would You Wrather.’ Paxton plays ‘Ollie Wrather,’ the fearless and enthusiastic younger brother of the duo and oftentimes the test-pilot for the more wild stunts (that Paxton carries out himself) of their online show. The popular Disney Channel series recently premiered its second season on October 5th, 2019. Although young, Paxton is no newcomer to gracing TV screens. As a talkative toddler with a love for being in front of the camera, he began his professional acting career at just 2 ½ years old near his hometown of Ventura, CA. He has since made appearances in dozens of national commercials and landed several guest star roles on popular TV shows including NBC’s Emmy-award winning sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, ABC’s The Real O’Neals, Amazon’s The Romanoffs, TV Land’s Teachers, and ABC’s unscripted series The Toy Box as a judge. While on set, Paxton never shies away from an exciting stunt thrown his way. Although he doesn’t have any formal stunt training, he has carried out several stunts on the set of Coop & Cami with the supervision of a stunt coordinator. Paxton’s fearless nature translates both on and off set, as he has been riding BMX bikes since the age of 3 – without ever learning to ride a bike with training wheels. Racing his BMX bike through skateparks and pump tracks has helped Paxton as an actor by increasing his body awareness. While, his love of automobiles also runs the course of a smaller, plastic track – with his collection of over 1,200 Hot Wheels. Having spent countless hours at car shows and museums, he has developed an immersive knowledge of classic cars, noting details on every single one of his Hot Wheels toys. Paxton has recently served as the youngest judge to-date throughout the ongoing 2019 Hot Wheels Legends Tour – alongside Jay Leno, Adam Carolla, etc. Beyond car museums, Paxton has an admiration for the arts and loves visiting both classic and street art museums. He also has a fascination with less artistically praised ‘50s black and white horror films, such as Plan 9 from Outer Space. Captivated by the horror genre, Paxton deeply admires the directorial style of Tim Burton and dreams of being cast in one of his films. Paxton also loves listening to ‘80s rock music, often jamming out to David Bowie. As a fashionable youngster, he admires Bowie’s standout style and strives to match his confidence of wearing whatever he wants. Paxton often advocates that fashion should not have gender labels. Eventually, he would love to have his own clothing line of gender neutral eccentric styles that can ultimately help prevent bullying for young kids. Outside of Paxton’s passions for art and activities, he loves getting hands-on with philanthropic pursuits. He actively supports charitable causes surrounding animal rescue (such as the two rescue pit bulls he grew up with, and the local LA animal rescue Paw Works), bringing happiness to other children that are ill/underprivileged, and spreading the importance of environmental awareness. He hopes to use his growing platform and voice to speak up for these philanthropic causes, the arts and promoting individuality at any age. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Do I have a treat for you! In this episode, I am talking to my friend Rebecca Metz. If you watch TV you have probably seen her work. Rebecca is best known for her roles on Showtime's Shameless and FX’s Better Things. She's currently the only adult cast member in the new Disney Channel show Coopand Camy Ask The World, where she plays the single mom to the title characters. I met Rebecca a few years ago at a dinner party and was immediately drawn to her sense of humor and infectious energy.

Rebecca Metz is the Founder of Web Pages That Sell. When Rebecca was coming back from vacation, she found out something horrible — her website had been hacked! Not only was the experience stressful, but having her website down meant she was not generating any business, too. After recovering from the incident, Rebecca has some advice for those business owners out there on how they can prevent this from happening to them, and what they should do in case it does happen. Key Takeaways: [2:10] What is Rebecca’s business about, Web Pages That Sell? [3:05] What happens when your website gets hacked? [6:55] If you have multiple websites, one website can affect the other. [7:15] Call your hosting company or your webmaster! [8:15] Check whether your website has been blacklisted. [9:45] When you’ve been hacked, it’s usually not personal. [13:00] When you call your hosting provider, be prepared that they may not be very helpful. [15:40] Another thing to note, your webmaster is not responsible for this hack either. However, they may have some answers for you to help you regain control of your website. [16:40] When your website has been hacked, this needs to be the first priority. The worse it gets, the harder it will be to get your whole website back. [17:40] Find a website cleaner. You can be expected to pay between $200 to $1,000 to have this done. Make sure the price includes multiple website clean ups. [21:20] If you’ve been infected once, expect to be infected again. [23:10] Get into a habit of backing up your website. Both your entire your website and your database. [24:35] You should back up your website once a month and your database once a week. [26:10] If your site has been blacklisted, this may mean your emails are too. [27:20] Regularly update your plugins! [31:05] What are some of the top mistakes people tend to make? [32:10] The good news is Rebecca has a service to help you backup your website regularly. Mentioned in This Episode: Dynastylc.com Webpagesthatsell.com Call Rebecca: 612-516-5388

In Episode 236, Trev and AJ unpack some of the listener response to the most recent episode, and then AJ sits down with returning IAP guest Rebecca Metz to discuss the risks and benefits of pay-to-play casting director workshops, their ethical and legal ramifications, what it means to be “pro-choice” in this business, and how us actors are just as responsible for our part in this issue as anyone else… all the *other* ways we're asked to spend money on our careers notwithstanding (yeah, whaddup with that?). In Episode 188, Trev and AJ interrupt their regularly scheduled interview series to share a very special “Rock the Vote” episode, dedicated to arming and empowering theatre artists with everything they need to know about the Actor’s Equity / 99-seat referendum.Listen in as AJ unravels the context, history, what ifs, and action items in his in-depth conversations with veteran actors Rebecca Metz and Dakin Matthews. And even if you’re not an Equity member (or in Los Angeles), this is still a crucial issue that could soon be at everyone’s doorstep. Join us in taking a stand to ensure a true win-win for actors and small theaters all over the country. Total running time: 1:22:20.
Steve Cooper talks with actors Larry Poindexter and Rebecca Metz. Larry and Rebecca stop by the studio to discuss the proposal called Actors Equity's proposed new 99 Seat Agreement. Thousands of actors in Los Angeles have come together to oppose a proposal by Actors’ Equity, the theater actors' union. The new proposal seeks to prohibit its members from lending their talents to small, nonprofit theaters by requiring these theaters to increase actor compensation nearly 1,000%. If this passes it could be very damaging to the LA theatre community and could cause some of these smaller performance houses to close. Larry and Rebecca both accomplished actors on stage, TV and screen are just two of the many Hollywood working and successful talents that are taking a stand.
