A comedian and magician who headlined Cirque du Soleil's Mad Apple, has been featured on America's Got Talent, Last Comic Standing, Conan, Sherri, Comedy Central's This Week at the Comedy Cellar and National Geographic Channel's Brain Games. Harrison was a senior producer for Primetime: Would You Fall for That? and story producer for VH1's This is HOT 97. He was also the head writer for Tu Nite con Lorenzo Parro, the first late night show on NBCU/Telemundo, a staff writer for Tha God's Honest Truth with Charlamagne Tha God on Comedy Central, and a long-time freelance writer for MAD Magazine. He is a recipient of the Andy Kaufman Award (2010) for creativity and originality in comedy, the Shorty Award in collaboration with Comedy Central and the New York Comedy Festival for "Best Emerging Comic" (2011), and the Magners Comic Stand-Off (2011). But the award Harrison is the most proud of is Tannen's Magic Camp "Camper of the Year," which means two things: (1) Harrison went to Magic Camp and (2) Harrison was a virgin until college. He co-founded the Harvard College Stand-Up Comic Society, the first organization at Harvard dedicated to the performance and appreciation of stand-up comedy, and one still popular on campus today.
There are many rising, young stars in our magic community. Some are gifted close-up workers while others are confident stage performers, all with bright futures ahead of them. One such young performer (now 28 years old) who excels in both and whom I have kept my eye on is Alex Boyce. His life has been consumed with magic and was a student at Tannen's Magic Camp. Since his graduation from the camp, he is now an instructor. He has competed in stage contests at magic conventions and worked his act in and around his home in New York including Scott's Resort in the Catskills where they filmed “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” He now regularly performs at SpeakEasy Magick in New York City and is a client of Bill Herz, who represents many of the top names in magic today. View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize This week, Alex talks about his early days of performing in the Catskills, entering magic competitions, learning and teaching at Tannen's Magic Camp, performing for celebrities and corporate parties, and some of the friends he works with at SpeakEasy Magick in New York City. She's built a firm that is designed for operational efficiency and has a unique approach to running an agency We talked about that, her journey to ownership which included stints at FCB Chicago and 360i among other stops. We love exploring different perspectives on how to get to ownership, and how to manage ownership. We have that today with Holly. So, here's the deal: there's usually no absolute right or wrong way to do most things in life, you know what I mean? But sometimes there can be a way that's not exactly the best way to do something. Today, we're gonna dive into the topic of reading Tarot, and maybe those wrong/not-so-great ways to approach it. Now, I gotta tell you, I absolutely love Tarot as a tool for exploration and personal growth. We've taught Tarot to so many folks, and it's just incredible to see how it can be used as a coaching tool. You can ask yourself questions, navigate through tricky situations, and even guide others using Tarot. Now, if you're currently reading Tarot or using the cards and you find yourself wondering if you're doing it the right way, here's the thing: you can't really mess it up, Magic Makers. However, I do have a few pointers to share with you today. These are three areas to keep an eye on, things that might make reading Tarot feel more challenging than it needs to be for you. So, let's dive in and check them out.Want to learn more? Click Here to check out Magic Camp! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/expeditiontosoul/message

Blissful is fueled by trail angels to climb steeply up into Saguaro National Park. In this episode:In only a few miles in the early morning cool, Blissful arrives at Magic Camp for a full breakfast on their very last day helping AZT hikers. She joins Jeff and "King Arthur" into beautiful Saguaro National Park, where the cacti crack her up in odd shaped and human-like poses. There's still good water in pools and babbling brooks, but she needs to "camel up" for a very steep climb up over 4,000 feet to her goal of Manning Camp. The trail leaves the cacti behind and opens into a kind of high altitude bowl, that feels aerie and vulnerable.Trail workers are making spectacular rock stairs to prevent erosion and suggest she camp at Grass Shack instead. It's still a long way up, and a site under oak trees right next to a babbling brook is the clincher, camping with her new friends. Our next special guest is Doug Leferovich! Jess and Doug talk about Jamie Lynn Spears and her devilish ways. Native New Yorker Douglas Leferovich has been surrounded by magic all his life. When he was four years old, he performed the color changing silks for his pre-K class and a career was launched. The fascination with magic continued to grow and became a significant part of his life. Performing as “Magic by the 3 L's,” Douglas, along with older brother Johnny and Dad found family fun and some financial success as the main attraction at birthday parties, school assemblies, library shows and company picnics. Truly bitten by the magic bug, Douglas went to Tannen's Magic Camp where he honed his craft learning from the best. In 1990, Douglas was off to the University of Pennsylvania where he was a communications major with a minor in marketing/advertising at the Wharton Business School. While at Penn, Douglas continued to perform magic and was hired as a consultant for the student production of Barnum. After graduation, Douglas helped create the visual comedy and magic act called The Gamesters. For the next five years, he toured the world performing in magic and variety shows and making several international TV appearances. Some performance highlights included performing for the Princess of Thailand, for Michael Jackson at his Neverland Ranch, being regular performing at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA, being a member of a hand-picked team that vanished the Tower Bridge in London, England for a BBC Television special and was part of the design team of magic effects for music artists such as Jay-Z and Michael Jackson for their world tours. One major dream was realized when Manhattan Magic, a full evening production show that he co-created, co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in had a successful run at the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Over the past 15 years, Douglas has emerged as a force in Las Vegas entertainment as a result of his creativity and production expertise. Whether consulting on over a dozen headline shows in Las Vegas (which include work for Boyz II Men, Meat Loaf, The Jacksons, and Wayne Newton to name a few) or performing in the Strip's major casinos and hotels (Palms, Rio, Riviera, Frontier, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, and currently guest starring in a show at Tropicana Resort Casino), it has become clear that Douglas has added his own special magical touch to many of the shows that audiences enjoy when they come to the entertainment capital of the world. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

The Magic Camp Manifesto We the head counselors of Magic Camp declare, That a painting is not a painting unless it is made of paint. That the entirety of New York-based abstract expression art is one gigantic op, conceived and carried out by the Congress for Cultural Freedom and Central Intelligence Agency, we name Taos, New Mexico the artistic center of America. That the word moist is fine, you're just stupid. That art is magic and that we need a lot more of it, push comes to shove it, we'll go toe to toe with Jackson Pollock if it's blood you covet. Get it? He bled on his paintings. Or was it piss? We name the following Certified Bald Pimps: Picasso, Michael Jordan, Matt Lucas, Ghandi, Tyrese Gibson, Saul of Tarsus, St. Francis of Assisi, Kelly Slater, and Thomas Merton; and the following Bald Hacks: Jeff Bezos, Vin Diesel, Paul of Tarsus, Damien Hirst, and Martin Luther We the counselors with dreadlocks believe, That churches only want art to say they have it. That pastors in Affliction tees are hot, get over it. That Augustine could turn a phrase now and again but he's not to be trusted, especially considering what he did with those pears. Heretofore it has been regarded that Van Gogh cut his ear off from excessive horniness, whereas the truth is this: that Gauguin broke his heart in the platonic sense, no homo, by ditching him at the Yellow House. He therefore owes Vincent one ear and is a prick, but we forgive him because his paintings are good. We affirm the agenda of those who work in a toll booth all week and paint jungle landscapes on the weekend, of the Sunday painter, the open-minded 90 year old who sketches the bare trees in his backyard and is cool with drag. So long as their art is marketed successfully on instagram or can be segued into a lucrative MLM, it's cool. But actually: we affirm a rigorous and deep art, an art of the earth, of the desert, the jungle, and the cave. We affirm the carnal and the banal, the abstract and academic, the indigenous, the queer, and the bald. The only non-fungible token in life is deez nuts We affirm the merits of productive unemployment, creative truancy, and collaborative disenchantment as prerequisites for new forms. We firmly declare the right to firmly declare, and along with it we acknowledge that to proclaim is to imprison. That if your uncle could have done it he would have done it. Not saying he still can't, though. This is a cult and John Berger is our leader. Immediately after Paris is destroyed in WWIII he will return in a flying saucer and we will all drink a special mixture of absinthe, turpentine and cadmium yellow light and join him in the clouds at his right hand. For more details and a precise timeline of these events, please visit the Sistine chapel. These are the Magic Camp rules for art and life 1. Always paint with a boner; or a semi at leas 2. Make art, not war. Shoot film, not the Taliban 3. Respect the museum 4. Fuck the museum 5. Preach the gospel daily, if necessary, use paint Follow @trevorwelch on twitter and find more of his at: trevor.money and ladyboyrecords.bandcamp/album/onsen

Disney+ has quite the selection of original films and series that are exclusive to the service. In this week's episode of Mouse House Weekly, Blake has chosen the Disney+ original, “Magic Camp,” for JJ to watch and discuss, and in turn, JJ has given Blake “Behind the Attraction” to watch. After talking about what they have both done Disney lately (including meeting up at Disneyland together), they talk about Disney+ Day, a day celebrating Disney+'s debut from 2 years ago. Once getting to talking about the main subject of the episode, both JJ and Blake tackle their Disney+ originals, talking about their positives, negatives, and whether they are worth taking time to watch. If you're thinking of watching “Magic Camp” and/or “Behind the Attraction,” go no further than this episode to find out if they are worth your time! Rebecca Metz has a recurring role as Tressa, Sam's (Pamela Adlon) close friend and talent manager on the critically acclaimed, award-winning FX series BETTER THINGS now in its third season. This busy actress also stars on the popular Disney Channel show COOP & CAMI ASK THE WORLD. The bubbly redhead plays Jenna Wrather, the widowed mom of Coop and Cami and the only adult in the regular cast.A graduate of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Metz has made her mark on television in memorable guest roles. She has guest starred on NIP TUCK, WEEDS, MARON, THIS IS US, GREY'S ANATOMY, FOR THE PEOPLE, BONES, MAJOR CRIMES, THE MENTALIST, BOSTON LEGAL, JUSTIFIED, SOUTHLAND, CALIFORNICATION, THE MINDY PROJECT, THE THUNDERMAN'S and in recurring roles on LOPEZ and SHAMELESS. Earlier in her career Metz garnered small roles on THE KING OF QUEENS, GILMORE GIRLS, ER and SCRUBS.A proud Jersey girl born and raised in Bruce Springsteen's hometown of Freehold, NJ, Metz was drawn to acting from an early age. Her parents, both classically trained singers, inspired her to follow a creative path, as did a favorite childhood TV show. “I honestly think the impetus for wanting to be an actor came from watching The Muppet Show,” she says with a laugh, “and from the backstage scenes, where it's all chaos and crisis and everyone tries to keep from showing it onstage. I thought that looked really fun.”In addition to her frequent television and commercial work, Metz has appeared in numerous independent and short films as well as the upcoming Disney feature film MAGIC CAMP. She is also a voiceover and stage actor whose theater credits include Sheila Callaghan's KATE CRACKERNUTS (24th Street Theatre) and Burglars of Hamm's award-winning musical, THE BEHAVIOR OF BROADUS (Sacred Fools). There is no question that Rebecca Metz is all about the small screen. “Television is going to places it's never been before”, she declares. “And I get to be a part of that. Every time I go to work, or even go to an audition that is in the front of my mind. I feel very fortunate to be here for it.”Twitter: @therebeccametzInstagram: @therebeccametz

Howdy doo cam… What?! You’re hungry? We didn’t bring any food? There’s no first aide, and Timmy took off his finger with the knife Ryan gave him? The movie we’re watching isn’t even a DCOM, it’s a Disney+ Original??? Gen Z, man. Chill out guys, and be cool, we’re watching Magic Camp this week during our Summerexplosia Campaganza! Yes… the movie does have some baggage. Yes, we thought it was a DCOM, but it has Gillian Jacobs in it… you like her right? Well, yes, Jeffrey Tambor is in it and, yes, he is super CANCELLED. Yes, it WAS in bad taste for them to still release it. JUST WATCH THE MOVIE, AND DON’T MAKE US TURN THIS CAMP AROUND, because It’s On Like DCOM! Follow us @itsonlikeDCOM on Twitter and Instagram!
This episode is so special because not only did I get to speak with such a talented human being, but I also got to make another family friend, as shocker to none, the Filipino American community is such a beautifully small world. If you don't know who Bianca Grava is, shame shame shame; anyway, Bianca was one of the stars of the hit Disney movie Magic Camp with Adam DeVine, Gillian Jacobs, Jeffrey Tambor, and so much more. We talk a lot about her experience on set and what it meant to her to be able to play an actual Filipino in the movie. I hope you enjoy this episode, as I had an amazing time talking to someone equally obsessed with movies as I am. Catch Magic Camp on Disney Plus today and follow Bianca on her social media @BiancaGrava. Mabuhay
