Sankt Helena: Als die Insel vor mehr als 500 Jahren entdeckt wurde, war sie unbewohnt. Abwechselnd nahmen Portugiesen, Holländer und Engländer sie in Besitz. Denn weit abseits aller Kontinente gelegen, war sie bei monatelangen Seereisen ein wichtiger Stützpunkt. 300 Jahre nach ihrer Entdeckung wurde ein einzelner Gefangener dorthin ins Exil geschickt und mit ihm 2.000 Wachsoldaten, die rings um die Insel Kanonen in die Felsen bauten, falls eine Flotte käme, um den Gefangenen zu befreien. Sein Name: Napoleon. Heute leben 5.000 Menschen auf diesem felsigen Eiland, das keinen Flugplatz hat. Die einzige Verbindung zur Außenwelt ist ein Postschiff – 10 mal im Jahr. Es gibt keinen Zug oder Buslinien auf der 122 Quadratkilometer großen Insel, dafür einige Taxis, zwei Hotels und die kleinste Radiostation der Welt.
