It's no surprise to anybody that in this day and age, teenagers are becoming more and more violent. With horrific events such as The Vampire Cult Murders, the countless school shootings that started with Columbine, and more, recently, violent protests in the wake of the events happening in the world right now, teenagers have grown up with a lack of fear and respect towards authority and a complex where they think they are above others. While it may not be every teenager and young adult, a shocking number of them have evolved into violent offenders. Today, Courtney is joined by Aphrodite Jones to discuss what is happening in this day and age and dives into her coverage of Rod Ferrell when teens that killed were an anomaly instead of a frightening reality. Step beneath the shadow of a normal suburban home with us, and you'll find a world where the lines between reality and nightmare blur. In this macabre episode of Murder and Mimosas, we untangle the Wendorff family murders—a chilling tale of gothic subcultures, blood rituals, and a deadly romance. As we recount the night Jennifer Wendorff's existence was torn apart by a grisly discovery, we probe the depths of her sister Heather's involvement with the sinister Vampire Clan and its charismatic leader, Rod Ferrell. Their descent into darkness serves as a cautionary tale of how dangerous obsessions can lead to devastating consequences. The saga turns frantic as we trace the teen vampires' desperate flight, led by Rod, the so-called ancient vampire, and his right-hand man Scott. Their chaotic escape to New Orleans is a journey into the heart of cult madness, fraught with power struggles and a refusal to sink further into criminal abysses. We dissect the conflicting nature of these youths, seemingly lost to their fantastical identities yet shying away from continuing their spree. As we navigate their tangled web of choices, we paint a portrait of minds caught between delusion and a haunting reality. Finally, we step into the eerie home life of Rod Ferrell, where normalcy is as foreign as daylight to the undead. I share unsettling insights into his family's occult practices, and his mother's twisted love for the cult's leader. Our conversation winds through the toxic underbelly of cult dynamics, the psychological damage they inflict, and the grim origin story of Rod's descent into darkness. On the night of November 25th, 1996, Rick Wendorf, 49, and his partner Ruth Queen, 54, were beaten to death with a crowbar inside their home in Eustis, Florida, by a vampire over 500 years old known as Vesago. At least that's what their killer believed. "Vesago" was really Rod Ferrell, a sixteen year-old from Murray, Kentucky, who lost himself in a vampiric role playing game, and truly thought he'd become an immortal bloodsucker. Take a peek into the world of vampirism as Elysia and Savannah fail miserably at talking about it seriously. Rod Ferrell on the other hand, took it very seriously and grew to believe that he could become immortal by taking life. After murdering Richard and Ruth Wendorf, Rod's vampire family questioned if he did it to become immortal or to save their daughter, Heather, from abuse. Either way, the family too would pay the consequences instead of living out their dream in New Orleans building their vampire "house". Join the conversation! Find us on Instagram and Facebook! This week's Court TV Podcast dives deeper into this difficult question with an episode of the Court TV original series Judgment with Ashleigh Banfield. A case full of issues regarding age, mental health, and the death penalty this is Judgment of the "Vampire Clan."To see the full sentencing phase of Florida versus Rod Ferrell, click here.

November 25th: Rod Ferrell Kills (1996) We see time and time again what atrocities can happen when dangerous people band together. On November 25th 1996 two boys, from a group of teenagers calling themselves The Vampire Clan, walked into a house and brutally murdered the people inside. This is the true case of Rod Ferrell. Rod claimed that he was a 500 year old vampire. He recruited local teens to join his vamp family. Rod would go on to murder a mother and father of one of his devout followers. #truecrime #rodferrell #vampire #vampirism --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/crimeghoul/support
It began with animal torture and teenagers drinking the blood of their kill and the blood of each other. Then there was the plot to ritualistically kill one of the girl's parents and then marking the body with an occult symbol. This was an initiate rite of passage for a Vampire clan in Florida. Rod Ferrell who was the ringleader of the cult was mentally disturbed and was convinced that he was a real vampire and was constantly taking part in blood drinking rituals. These activities happened 15 years ago and Farrell has since been condemned to death in the Florida electric chair. Ferrell pleaded guilty to killing Richard Wendorf and Naoma Ruth Queen, on Nov. 25, 1996, when he and three members of his blood-sucking cult came to Florida from Kentucky to help the couple's daughter run away.Originally Broadcast On 10/15/2011

This week we bring two dark and creepy cases of murder which helped fuel the Satanic panic of the 1980's. Kelsey covers the Vampire Clan, run by 16 year old Rod or "Vesago" to his close friends. The Clan was responsible for the brutal killing of a couple and led to a manhunt that went across multiple state lines. Then, Alanna shares the case of the Fall River Murders, where three sex workers were killed in disturbing ways by a suspected cult. What was the true purpose of these violent and horrific murders? We may never know. Everybody stay safe out there, don't join any strange cults and above all else, be sure to keep it cryptic! On November 25, 1996, the parents of Heather Wendorf, Rick Wendorf and his partner, Ruth Queen are brutally murdered in their home; their lifeless bodies are in the kitchen and family room. And in Heather's room? A goodbye letter. She's running away. But Heather isn't a killer. Only a fifteen year old misguided teen who's fallen under the tutelage of sixteen-year-old, self- proclaimed vampire, Rod Ferrell who will later admit he enjoyed the rush of playing God and taking lives. In this episode Brittani and Bob dive into the case of Rod Ferrell the man who claimed he was a 500 year old vampire who lead a cult of up to 50 members and was responsible for the murder of two people in Florida.
TRIGGER WARNING:The story this week involves sexual abuse, blood drinking, and animal abuse. None if these are explicitly described but listener discretion advised..Krys leads off with the Murray Kentucky Vampire Clan, which Tori immediately freaks out because she remembers the story. Rod Ferrell was raised in a very messed up environment but his mother played into that immensely. In the 90s vampires were all the rage and some folks took it too far. While we are not ones to yuck someone's yum, these folks took Vampire the Masquerade or an approximation of waaaaaayyyyy too far. From animal abuse to murder to police chases, these kids took it too far. Spawning terrible b movies in the process and giving gamers a bad name. Rod Ferrell is the douche canoe of Kentucky. Tori follows up with Lemp Mansion. American Hauntings get their props for source material for this one. The Lemp family was a big money brewer in St. Louis and left their mark on the city, This family seemed to collect tragedy and seemed to leave ghosts in response. The Lemp Mansion stands still to this day as a restaurant and inn. Complete with tours and perhaps some Ghostbusters-esque shenanigans from the resident spirits. Our Sources: Weird Kentucky, Beargrassthunder.com, Wkms.com, oxygen.com, Imdb.com, Tourmurray.com, Crimesandconsequences.com, Hillbilly Horror Stories: Episode 187: Kentucky Vampires, Morbid Episode 17: Rod Fereel “The Vampire Cult Killer” AKA Turbo Douche,YouTube.com Kentucky Teenage Vampire - Real Stories, hauntedrooms.com, American Hauntings Podcast Season 2 Eps 19-24, legendsofamerica.com, travelthruhistory.com, lempmansion.com Our theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcastFind us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast?fan_landing=true)

We fully endorse sucking on lollipops, popsicles, and sometimes even thumbs. What did you think we were going to say? We're married women! But we just can't get behind sucking on blood. Rod Ferrell didn't get the memo. In 1996, he and his fellow nerds formed vampire clans in Murray, KY and embraced the "vampiric lifestyle." Whatever that means. Unfortunately, Rod was unable to separate fact from fiction and his otherworldly fantasies bled into real life, taking the lives of two innocents. This story takes us from Kentucky to Florida, all the way to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We'll get into what it's like to be a vampire in a world full of lowly humans and ask the hard questions, like was Rod really a blood sucking demon? Spoiler alert : no. At the close, Halee treats us with some delicious peanut butter cookies. Happy Haunting!
Mak covers the famous Whisper Estates, a house known to have talking walls. Emily follows the twisted case of roleplay gone wrong with Rod Ferrell and the Vampire Clan.
In the 1990s, a teenager in Kentucky got into a role-playing game about vampires and the occult. A few years later, he was drinking his friends' blood, adopting an ancient vampiric identity, and planning murder with his vampire clan. Learn more about your ad choices. On November 25th, 1996, Rod Ferrell and his 'cult' of vampire enthusiast followers went to the Windorf home where Rod killed Naomi and Richard, the parents of a girl he was trying to initiate into his 'vampire clan'. Though he committed the heinous, bloody murders, the rest of his group were complicit also. How did it come to this? What drove Rod and his friends, just teenagers from Murray, Kentucky, to kill two innocent people?
