Love is in the air… and so is chaos. Sorg is joined by Mad Mike (finally stepping out of the “silent figure in the shadows” to co-host) for this year's MayhemWed Game, a wrestling-flavored Newlywed-style showdown. In Team Warr: Allison & KC Warr, celebrating nine years (and their first-date-iversary is today) and proudly proving that yes, Tinder can work. In Team Bearcat: Karielle & Keith Haught, together for over a decade, married for two years, and bonded through pro wrestling (and a first date at Steak 'n Shake). The rules are simple: answer in secret, guess your partner's answer, and try not to start a “hard conversation” on the drive home. The questions? Wrestling-coded, slightly unhinged, and frequently… whoopee-adjacent.

Peter plays guitars, bass, keyboards, and mandolin, and Wolfgang provides the drums for the tracks. Ethereal Dialogue by Jason Blake favorite track Pluvial Thoughts Chicagoan Jason Blake plays Warr guitar, often in a more progressive rock style rather than this atmospheric outing. He combines looping and various echo effects into resplendent meditations Ni blomster i en åker by Ævestaden favorite track Jag vill ut och du vill ner i jorden This Norwegian trio of multi-instrumentalists play fiddle, jaw harp, lyres, kantele, cow horn, and electronics. They expertly blend vocal harmonies into a rich pastiche which harkens to ancient Nordic traditions. Desert Electric by Rubi Ate the Fig favorite track Gilgamesh Based out of New Mexico, the core band is led by composter Sharon Eliashar on vocals and guitar, members add qanun, drums and other percussion, guitars, keyboards, bass, saz, cello, and buzuq. Guest musicians play ney, Arabic strings, additional percussion, duduk, oud, zourna, farfisa organ, additional backing vocals, a string quartet, and probably there's a kitchen sink in there, too. The music is a heady amalgamation of rock and psych, blended with Middle Eastern traditions. Tragic Magic by Julianna Barwick & Mary Lattimore favorite track Perpetual Adoration Here is a collaboration of vocalist and electronica composer Julianna Barwick and harpist Mary Lattimore. Recorded at the Philharmonie de Paris, they utilized the Musée de la Musique's instrument collection, which included ancient harps and analog synths. Together they have created a bewitching musical spell. Lemon Crash – 25th Anniversary Edition by Europa String Choir favorite track Waterfall around for just a little while. This is a release with the pieces being reworked with modern equipment for superior sound. Instruments are 6-string violectra, guitars, and 8-string touch guitar, producing a heady blend of acoustic and electric music. Echoe’s End by Tyler Kamen favorite track Spirit Box, Pt. 2 – The Dream New York psych/folk/blues-tinged multi-instrumentalist and composer Tyler Kamen returns with this lovely, layered, lysergic plunge deep into the otherworld. There is no mistaking his signature sound for anyone else, yet each release is not merely delving into the same territory as the ones before. Dreamy and phantasmagoric. Sound Ceremony (Live in Zurich, Spring 2024) by Estas Tonne feat. Ali Ghamsari, Sylvia Kirchherr, Ben Aylon, Yonatan Bar Rashi favorite track Wheel of Life-The Insight This superb guitarist and composer is joined live with guests on Iranian tar, various percussion instruments and vocalists. He has indeed created somewhat of a ceremonial atmosphere for this show, with several extended pieces, which are stunning. For brevity's sake, I am choosing Wheel of Life – The Insight, which reflects most of what you will find here. Nature Reversed by Ashley Reaks favorite track Deep Inside Our Silent Sorrow Ashley Reaks has issued another fine release, which sounds unmistakenly like him, and no one else. These songs are all inspired by the Yorkshire Dales, but don't expect them to be cheerily bucolic because of that. These are dark dales, where the wanderer is struggling with angst and faces his own inner familial demons. He eventually succeeds, finding a sort of peace after he has faced them and the storms have passed. FAUN “Drei Tage” Single 2026 FAUN return with their superb amalgamation of traditional and modern instrumentation that places them squarely at the leading edge of the dark/pagan/medieval folk pack. Drei Tage features dulcet vocals and lush orchestration, it's full of mystery and Nordic darkness.
Welcome to the first episode of the year! We are continuing our series on the Spanish-American War. We are transitioning from Tampa, Florida to the Island of Cuba. The commanding general of V Corps, William Shafter, landed outside of Santiago de Cuba. Rather than reduce the fortifications at the mouth of the harbor, Shafter was ready to move against the Spanish garrison in the city. He chose to attack Spanish outposts at San Juan and Kettle Hills and El Caney. The breezy optimism that the Americans had were dashed by a robust Spanish defense. While the Americans were able to successful capture the Spanish positions, it came at a higher cost than anticipated. The battle may have made the career of Theodore Roosevelt, but it shook Shafter's confidence. Have a question, comment, concern, or compliment? Contact us at americawarpodcast@gmail.com. It takes ten years to become an overnight success, they say. At the eight year mark, Topjaw's Jesse Burgess and Will Warr very nearly tapped out. The pair had been making longish-form food-adjacent YouTube videos since 2015 — things like a 21-minute, three part series on the best burger in London. (“We haven't exactly moved on,” laughs Will now.) It was going okay. It was going fine. It was even going quite well — which is a terrible way for anything to be going whatsoever. “And then there came a moment when it was like, right: this has been a side project for so long,” says Jesse now. “Are we going to pack it in because it takes up a lot of time? Or are we going to carry it on — at which point we have to put our all into it. It was one or the other..." Here, Jesse and Will discuss London's best restaurants, birthday celebrations, the problem with hype, and their admiration for the people behind the industry.
Our main feature is Witchboard (2025). We're also reviewing Jimmy & Stiggs, Beast of Warr, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Man with the Black Umbrella, The Sentinel, and Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak.

This episode dives into the importance of feeling confident in play-based learning and no longer hiding it because there is this pressure for academics. We talk about trusting yourself as an educator, standing firm in what you know is right for children, and giving yourself permission to fully embrace play. Today's guest, Jimmy Warr-Mize, has a story that's anything but typical. From his early days as a self-described jack-of-all-trades to being featured in Forbes, interviewing celebrities, and representing billion-dollar brands—he's done the big, shiny things. But what makes Jimmy's story powerful isn't just what he's accomplished. It's what he's learned along the way. I found his videos awhile back and just fell in love with his message, but also his vibe. His incredible energy, humor and directness make his “daily reminders” powerful messages to sit with each day. In this conversation, we talk about what happens when success feels empty, the cost of living inauthentically, and why so many people—no matter their title—feel stuck and disconnected from who they really are. Jimmy shares how grief, growth, and truth-telling changed everything for him, and why he's now on a mission to help others find their way back to themselves. Not everyone's ready for the deep work— but everyone deserves a message that reminds them it's possible. In this essay Keith Jacobs considers the relevance of Colin Ward's work for addressing contemporary housing challenges. It is claimed that Ward's writings on housing offer both a trenchant critique of managerially inspired policies and a set of political interventions that merit consideration. His two most recent publications are: ‘'Historical sensibility' and its relevance for contemporary housing studies' 10.4337/9781800375970.00010 and ‘Political economy perspectives and their relevance for contemporary housing studies' (coauthored with R. Tender Warrior 'Tender Warrior” is a Christian book written by Stu Weber, who is known for his insights on masculinity and leadership from a biblical standpoint. In this book, Weber explores the concept of authentic manhood by portraying men as both tender caregivers and courageous warriors. He emphasizes that a true man embodies a balance of strength and sensitivity, leading with conviction while also nurturing those around him. Key Themes of the Book: Balanced Masculinity: Weber challenges the stereotypical notions of masculinity that favor either extreme toughness or excessive softness. He argues for a balanced approach where men are both strong and tender. Roles and Responsibilities: The book delves into the various roles men play—as husbands, fathers, friends, and leaders—and the responsibilities that come with each role. Spiritual Leadership: A significant focus is on the importance of spiritual growth and leading one's family and community through a strong relationship with God. Emotional Vulnerability: Weber encourages men to be open about their emotions, breaking down the barriers that often prevent meaningful connections with others. Mentorship and Legacy: The idea of leaving a positive legacy through mentoring and guiding others is highlighted as a crucial aspect of authentic manhood.

As a field (and as dog owners), we are often talking about different things when we refer to “separation anxiety.” But is isolation phobia the same as hyperattachment? Are some dogs just upset about confinement, and not about isolation? And what about FOMO? Buckle up for a nuanced and in-depth conversation about the entire suite of behaviors we call “separation anxiety” with Karishma Warr, the co-founder and head of behavior at Calm Canine Academy. Sarah and Karishma dig into when a dog's behavior warrants suspended absences with desensitization, when it doesn't, and what all behavior cases can use more of.
