He is the founder of Shedwool, host of Coryconnects podcast, Mentor: Founder Institute Graduate: GAN Scale School total funds raised: over $1M USD headcount, “Top 50” awards and his name is "Cory Warfield". He talks to us about his own story from being a waiter to a successful entrepreneur. He is an inspiration to many people who think they cant do what it takes to become "your own boss". He helps entrepreneurs understand what is it that "you don't want to do" because soon you will start disliking your work if you force yourself doing what you don't like. And on the other hand there are people who would love to do those jobs which you hate. So learn to delegate as early as possible. Another golden nugget: Understanding who to listen to and why? This is also equally important for you to succeed as someone who made a million dollar maybe from another industry not the one you are passionate about or business idea you have might be different from other peoples success story. And at the end of the day what actually works is really listening to your self. Listening to your own intuition and gut feeling will surely work as because sometimes we don't even know what other successful people have gone through their journeys, they might not share it all. Apart from his his business, Coryconnects, helps people to learn how to leverage social media, how to interview better and how to grow your network. All this and much more from Cory. In just a year, they have partnered with IBM, American Airlines, and several other high-profile companies. Cory wasn’t always an acclaimed CEO, however. For 20 years he worked in the restaurant business, serving tables and chasing his passion projects on the side, but when he found a gap in the market for a program like ShedWool, he went all in. “All in” wasn’t all it was cracked up to be either. It meant long, sometimes 100 hour long, weeks and countless failures. All of this didn’t discourage Cory, however, as he had been through the entrepreneurial gauntlet before. Cory Warfield is the co-founder of ShedWool. ShedWool is an employee scheduling and workforce management software company. What that means is they help staff at companies fill a shift or take on an additional shift. So if someone works at a restaurant they don't have to call all their buddies to see who can cover for them. They can put it in the ShedWool schedule and someone can pick up the shift easily. Early on they were able to work with companies like IBM, American Airlines, BP, Four Seasons and several other high-profile companies. Cory worked in the hospitality industry for years where he saw the need for a scheduling app. He is also the co-founder of Mentor You Global which is a pro bono consulting platform.  Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn: [3:20] Jeremy introduces his guest, Cory Warfield. [5:30] Where did the idea for ShedWool come from? [11:40] What caused Cory and the ShedWool team to change their price model? [15:00] Cory talks about their early free model. [20:00] How client feedback helped Cory make a positive shift in the business. [23:00] Cory talks about connecting with high profile corporations. [28:00] What was the post that Cory wrote that went viral? [32:00] Tips for growing your following and professional network. [35:30] How does Cory decide which industries to target? [38:50] Cory talks about ShedWool working with Moonrise. [42:00] What is Mentor You? [50:00] Why did Cory eventually accept outside funding? Who did he hire first? [54:00] A low moment in business for Cory. [57:00] Why Cory turned down a buy out offer. [59:20] Closing thoughts from Cory. In this episode… Did you know that one of the most complicated aspects of the hospitality industry is creating and navigating the shift schedule? Managers and employees stress about their shift schedule more than almost any other aspect of their job. What is the solution? On this episode of Inspired Insider, you’ll hear from innovator and entrepreneur, Cory Warfield. In his conversation with Jeremy, Cory opens up about how he got the idea for ShedWool, why they decided to change their pricing model, how they were able to connect with high profile organizations, tips for growing your network, and much more. You don’t want to miss a minute of this engaging episode featuring Cory’s story! Pain points often show you where innovation is needed. There are so many great ideas out there just waiting for someone to realize that there is no need to settle for the way things have always been. Cory Warfield leveraged his twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry to address an issue that bugged him and his industry peers for years, the shift schedule. Cory was convinced that there had to be a better way to handle the constant frustration over staffing issues, so he went to work on a solution. It wasn’t long before the vision, and the groundwork for ShedWool, Cory’s solution to shift scheduling issues started to form. Solving a problem is one thing: finding the right price to charge for the solution is another thing entirely. Cory’s dream was to offer ShedWool as a free solution, but he soon realized that there wasn’t a clear path forward for the financial viability of his solution without a pricing model. While Cory was able to get some high profile organizations to try ShedWool early on, the free aspect of the platform caused some businesses to hold back, not knowing if it would go the distance. Now, they’ve created a reasonable pricing model at ShedWool, and the brand is thriving. What can you learn from Cory’s experience with the pricing model? One of the best ways to make a name for your brand or business is to expand your personal and professional sphere of influence. Many business leaders are turning to LinkedIn to make these connections and grow their profile. As he increased his engagement on LinkedIn, Cory started to notice his profile rise and his circle of influence expand. Is there a secret to Cory’s expanded reach? Not really. Cory simply took the time to engage with influencers on LinkedIn by liking and commenting on their posts; he also took the time to create content that caused people to engage with him. Do you want to expand your reach as Cory did? If you needed to expand your reach right now, what would you do? Where would you start? Thankfully, Cory was kind enough to share his tips for growing your network. Get to know your network personally. A little extra attention goes a long way! Step up your engagement efforts! You can’t expect to grow your reach by sitting on your hands. Put in the time. The truth is, you’ll need to devote time to this if you want to achieve your goal. This is just the start of Cory’s insights on this topic. Make sure to follow Cory on LinkedIn and learn from his brilliant perspective! Twenty years ago Cory Warfield was homeless and living on the streets. He ended up in a small ski town in Colorado, sharing a  garage with no running water. He got off his butt and started washing dishes in pizza joints and ended up working in the restaurant industry for many years. Today Cory is Co-founder and CEO of Shedwool, a fast growing Employee Scheduling SAS provider, a Semi-finalist in the Miller Lite / Daymond John Tap the Future 2018, a Brand Ambassador for Daymond John “Rise and Grind,” Co-founder/Mentor for You Global Consultants Network , and a Philanthropist / Volunteer (1% for the Planet, Turning Point, Malala Fund). In his spare time he recently launched an online business accelerator! The amazing thing is Cory did all that in less than three years. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who could more plainly explain how to bootstrap a million dollar + SAS business. Combined that will Cory’s servant. In this episode we get down and deep on his entrepreneurial journey. Cory: Tells us how he came up with the idea for his business How a guy that didn’t know anything about coding found his Shedwool co-founder through a Craigslist ad How being homeless in the past fuels his promise to never again let himself get in that situation Surprised me by sharing that he is also a performing artists with more than 100 recordings What is was like rapping in front of Daymond John Why he never listens to naysayers How he knew he was onto something when for the first time ever his wife said he had a pretty good idea Why he believes that google takes every excuse off the table for someone who says they don’t know how to do something Why so many people fail at their adventure at almost exactly the same point and time And tells us about his new pro-bono online business accelerator You can reach Cory: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/corywarfield/ Website: https://shedwool.com/ Please do not hesitate to reach out to me. [12:30] Closing thoughts from Cory. In this episode… Are fame, fortune, and the life of an entrepreneur as good as the media portrays it or is there another side entirely? It can’t be all glitz and glamour, can it? On this episode of Inspired Insider, you’ll hear from entrepreneur and innovator, Cory Warfield. In his conversation with Jeremy, Cory opens up about some of the lowest moments on his entrepreneurial journey, some of the more exciting aspects along the way, and much more. If you want to get the real scoop, not just the polished, social media post ready version, of the life of an entrepreneur, then you’ve got to listen to this episode!  When was the last time you had a really good idea? Were you able to monetize that idea or did it lead to some type of success in your life? Let’s face it; most people will never have a million dollar idea in their life, even if they have one, most people won’t act on it. Cory Warfield is clearly cut from a different cloth than most people. Even when he had sizeable offers coming his way for his business, Cory held firm, convinced that his idea was worth more. While it didn’t look like it at the time, Cory’s commitment to his idea paid off. ShedWool is making significant strides in the marketplace and is in a great position for sustained success. Make sure to check out the link to their site located in the resources section at the end of this post.  Can you imagine having just turned down an offer that would make you a millionaire only to get a repossession notice for your car a few days later? That can’t be reality, can it? Doesn’t that sort of thing only happen in the movies? It was a real-life moment for Cory Warfield, and he was in almost as much disbelief as you are reading this! What was he going to do? Should he have taken the deal? To this day, Cory is convinced that he made the right decision. Even looking back, he says that at that moment he still didn’t regret saying no to the offer. What can you learn from Cory’s rollercoaster story? How would you have reacted?
