Today, our guest is Shella Keilholz. Dr. Keilholz received her Bachelor's in Physics from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1997, and her PhD in Engineering Physics from the University of Virginia in 2004. She went on to a do a post-doc at NIH in Dr. Alan Koretsky's lab and in 2004 joined the department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University as a faculty member. She is now a full professor at Emory University and also closely affiliated with Georgia Tech. Since around 2008 she has been uncovering new spatial and temporal patterns in resting state fMRI. She was the first to identify spatial propagation of wave-like behavior in the resting state time series and in 2011 coined the term quasi-periodic patterns (QPP) to describe whole brain networks that dominate much of the resting state signal. Recently, she and others have described three such patterns that account for most of the variance. Here we not only talk about her career but also delve into how these quasi-periodic patterns mesh with the current landscape of diverse features of resting state fMRI that continue to be found. She has shown that these patterns may have a central driver and may relate to such things as vasomotion, global signal, arousal state, and attention. In general, there is much more information from basic neurophysiology to cognition that remains to be derived from resting state fMRI, and Shella is among those leading the effort. This was an incredibly stimulating and fun discission. We hope you enjoy it! Episode producers:Omer Faruk Gulban Jeff Mentch

Listen to Shehla Rooney, CEO & Owner at GoKnee LLC on the Culture Eats Everything Podcast in conversation with Kevin Davis. Read more about Shehla Rooney: Shehla is a physical therapist by trade with 26 years of experience. She is a board-certified specialist in geriatric Physical Therapy. Shehla has had the opportunity to speak internationally about knee replacement recovery, which eventually led her to her current role as a CEO.A fun fact about Shehla is that she was born in England, raised in Canada, and now resides in Cookeville, Tennessee, with her husband and three kids. Impressive, isn't it? Now, let's shift our focus to GoKnee. When you mentioned Cookeville, Tennessee, it reminded me of the CrossFit world. Can you elaborate on Bony and how you got into it?Shella explains, "To be honest, my journey into business ownership and the product business is not a typical story. It never crossed my mind to be a business owner or have my own product business. My primary goal was to help people as a physical therapist. However, a few years ago, I had a patient who was struggling with his knee replacement recovery. Despite his motivation and compliance, his progress was not satisfactory." ____________________________ Shehla Rooney: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shehla-rooney/ Go Knee: https://thegoknee.com/ ______________________________ Phoenix Performance Partners Website: https://www.phoenixperform.com/ Culture Eats Everything Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/culture-eats-everything/id1526731051 Culture Eats Everything Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1utf9dZh2PRQKxe6qg5I5M Kevin Davis: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevinjohndavis/ Tom Willis: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomasawillis/ Checkout our book: https://www.phoenixperform.com/book #cultureeatseverything

In this episode of Hornpod Film Club, we review the 2019 documentary, Shella Record: A Reggae Mystery. Directed by Chris Flanagan, the film tracks his decade of searching for the soulful siren featured on a 10-cent record he bought in a thrift store, credited only with the name Shella Record. His journey takes him from record shops in Toronto to the legendary recording studios of Jamaica, where he discusses the history of Jamaica's music with some of reggae's greatest hitmakers. Along the way, Chris's own artistic practice of carefully crafted miniatures helps to tell a playful story of obsession, the power of music, and final redemption. Tune in to our discussion with special guests and hear the tale of Shella Record: A Reggae Mystery, plus Ska Canon.

TALK A DI TOWN (BLACK OUT AUDIO) DJ BREAD , KIDDXENTOURAGE , GSIXX SOUND, TEAM SHELLA by DJ BREAD MUSIC PRODUCTION
ZARDA ( Sweet-rice) a local desert in Pakistan, 17min., Pakistan, Drama Directed by Zainab Hassan In this slice of life/drama we peek into the life of a young Pakistani teenage girl Shella who comes from a conservative, lower middle-class family but dreams with an open heart. As she is slowly stepping out in the real world, she is fascinated by the ever-changing aesthetic of the modern life. One such occurrence accounts to her looking at a girl getting hair dyed pink, leaving her utterly mesmerized and longing for something like that for herself. Unfortunately, her cultural norms and lack of bodily autonomy renders it impossible until she is forced to realize and challenge these norms and find her own way out. Get to know the filmmaker: Being very aware about my confinement into this socially constructed narrative of genders I've always been very sensitive and vocal about issues regarding women. Therefore, personally I always knew I wanted to make a women centric film. Around the time when I was brainstorming for ideas, I read an article in a magazine somewhere about this group of Indonesian women who in Malaka culture were tattooed when they got married, to mark them as “taken”. but after World War 2 some of the single women from that clan tattooed themselves to escape being taken away by Japanese soldiers. So really this idea of taking something which was once used to oppress or put one in a box and to use it as one's strength, and the spirit to live and flourish in the most unlikely of environments is what inspired me. This central idea then gelled in with my own struggles for bodily autonomy eventually birthed this story. She shares how she performed around the world and appeared on national television only to find that there's something more important than success. Shella now wants to help young up-and coming dancers not make the mistakes she says she made. “Your identity and your value and your self worth doesn't come from anything external.” Although she retired after selling the dance studio she founded, Power House of Dance, teaching dance is still a major part of Shella's life, but now with a new message. . “More than anything I wanted my life to have significance to help other people maybe not make the same mistakes I made.” – Shella Sattler “Little did I know that there is so much more. I look at all of the things that I used to think were so important and significant that it's almost laughable now.” – Shella Sattler Tune in and walk with me as Shella narrates how her eyes were opened to a new perspective that would forever change her life.
