The Victorian Budget 2026-27 will deliver a 20 per cent rebate on light vehicle registration. Currently, registration for a light vehicle costs up to $930.70 per year. With the discount, a single-car owner could save up to $186, while families with two cars could receive up to $372. The state government says the measure is aimed at putting money back into the pockets of Victorians, as fuel costs continue to rise. Applications will open on 1 June and remain open until 31 July, giving eligible residents two months to claim the rebate. It will be available to Victorians who own light vehicles for personal use, including cars, utes, and vehicles weighing under 4.5 tonnes.

Robert meets Nick Willing at the studio of his mother Paula Rego (1935–2022) to discuss a major exhibition of drawings and works on paper by Rego, opening this week at Victoria Miro in London. The most comprehensive exhibition of Rego's drawings to date, Story Line features works from the 1950s until the artist's death, shining new light on Rego's evolving use of line in media from pen and ink to pastel, conté, charcoal and pencil, and how it was driven by her unique approach to storytelling throughout her life. The exhibition isaccompanied by a new book written by the artist's son, Nick Willing.‘When you write your story… invention comes when you do a drawing. As you are drawing something, it very often turns into something else, and you can go with it. It develops in a completely different way, it's organic and it's done with the hand. The hand makes it change and so on.' – Paula Rego, The White Review, 2011Paula Rego considered herself first and foremost a ‘drawrer' (her word). From political protest to personal introspection, activism to domestic power games, subversive humour to challenging family relationships, it was through drawing that she understood herself and the world around her, discovering ways of expressing complexideas through a single image. As Nick Willing comments, ‘A Rego drawing is never just one thing, but many feelings working together to reveal the truth. They not only helped her understand the world but can also help us understand it too.'Driven by her distinctive approach to storytelling, this exhibition demonstrates how Rego adapted her line toemphasise the emotional nuance of the stories she told, and how her drawing techniques also reflected her interior emotional narrative. The works reveal the unique development of an artist whose visual storytelling, drawn from a wide variety of sources, spoke directly to us about the essential human traits of desire, loss, violence and power. The works on show vary from intimate drawings which have never been exhibited before to studies for some of Rego's most recognisable paintings. These are accompanied by notes, letters, sketchbooks, photographs and other archival material from throughout Rego's life – among myriad rarities is a drawing Rego made when she was nine years old of her grandmother, while the exhibition concludes with works including a drawing she made of her own granddaughter. Text me a question I might answer through the showYou're in a leadership role and the anger bubbles up. Or . . .you're the subject of the leader experiencing anger. Learn about anger in leadership as well as transformational leadership from the best selling authors of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workbook for Leaders: How Improving your Mental Health is Essential to Avoiding Burnout and Leading More Effectively, Dr. Julian Barling PhD and Dr. Simon A. Rego, PsyD. I have started sharing my podcasts on YouTube as well - find this one under @AlexandraMillerClark. Some gems I learned from this interview include: * just a little bit of anger can be motivating* showing anxiety can be more effective than showing anger as a leader . . . But not too much! *sometimes it helps to say “I don't know” or “I'm sorry”*it's good to prepare for future crises as leaders*leaders who show anger are just humans with a range of emotionsSupport the showThis show was created with love on my volunteer time. My discussion with Rebecca Rego Barry for The Overlook, the online nonprofit news outlet serving the Catskills communities of Hunter, Hurley, Olive, Saugerties, Shandaken, and Woodstock. Rebecca has had an exceptional literary journey as a book historian, a library preservationist and archivist, a magazine editor, bibliophile and publisher, as well as the author of hundreds of articles, essays, book reviews, two books, and a chapter in another. Rebecca, who was introduced to me by my friend Beth Waterman of the Phoenicia Library, lives in Chichester, a hamlet of Shandaken, with her husband Brett Barry, the host of the popular Catskills' podcast “Kaatscast.” The couple recently became part owners of Catskills book publisher, the Purple Mountain Press. In our discussion, Rebecca observed “I literally think of nothing else but books all the time.” We discussed Rebecca's books, Rare Books Uncovered, and The Vanishing of Carolyn Wells, Investigations into a Forgotten Mystery Author, Rebecca's writing process (‘bird by bird”) and routine, the challenges of writing and publishing, the books she's currently reading, including with her local book club, and finally the Purple Mountain Press. A condensed and edited version of our discussion was published in The Overlook. The complete transcript of our discussion can be found on my website, Bookworms In the Wild.(Photo credit: Dion Ogust)
