If You Don't Stand For Something, You Stand For Nothing
Time To Stand For Something It’s our season to carve out an authentic place as leaders in the new universe of Agile. Following the crowd isn't enough. In this environment, flooded with process trainers and framework enforcers, there's an absence of meaningful leadership. We’re encouraged to focus on the steps and systems, but how are we developing the leaders we actually become, or what values we fiercely defend? We wander the halls of organizations spouting the same textbook answers, rarely asking if these practices serve our teams, or make a lasting impact on business outcomes. I challenge you now to stand for something. To risk stepping away from the safety of crowd-pleasing, and to lean into the experiences, struggles, and perspectives that have shaped us. Your personal battles and growing pains (in my case, it was dealing with criticism, overcoming bad habits, or finding confidence through disciplines like boxing) are more than just anecdotes. These struggles shape how we lead, communicate, and influence the culture around us. It’s only when you weave those hard-won lessons into your approach that you become truly distinct. And in this market, distinction matters. If nothing else, its a chance to lead by YOUR rules, not by those set by an industry. What sets us apart isn't quirkiness for the sake of being different, it’s a principled stance forged from our real experiences. As AI and remote work have forever transformed the industry, we face a choice. We can recede into the background, recycle what everyone else is saying, or stand for something only we can offer. Our unique viewpoint, even if it feels vulnerable or counter-establishment, IS the value we offer to our teams and communities. This show has always had an element of resisting comfort and conformity. The best way to do that is to explore the truth that only we offer. Are we willing to risk rejection by speaking it? When you put yourself out there, whether in a podcast, a blog, or leading a team, you attract people who resonate with your message. That personal touch, rooted in our struggles and transformed into insight, becomes our greatest asset. In a changing landscape, its when you stand for something meaningful that you rise from an average leader into an influential one. It's Thursday, so you know what that means--throwback Thursday, where we dig into the vault and pull out some marketing gold from yesteryear. And for today's podcast, that gold has to do with the topic of Identity, and the year is 2014. This is a webinar that Rich did in conjunction with longtime Level 10 Supporter, Marketsharp. This is a great overview of the Identity concept, with lots of good examples.

This hour Henry and Chris react to WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley severing ties with the WWE over their relationship to Donald Trump, Snoop Dog is coming to Minneapolis on Christmas, Henry talks with Totally Committed Wellness and Fitness Founder Tyler Phillips about staying healthy during the holidays, and more.
Too often we are not held responsible for the actions we do, thinking that just because we have a constitutional right means we can exercise those rights without consequences for our actions taken. While our country was built on freedom to bear arms, we as gun owners must uphold safety by becoming properly trained and aware of the very real danger that guns can pose when handled inappropriately. While free speech was something our forefathers fought for us, we all know we cannot use our voices to make idle threats as a joke and not be punished for acting so foolishly. Our leaders have to be stronger and break through the noise of the masses, as they are the examples for which we , the masses, are going to follow. We need to choose these people with great attention to their actions and reactions, rather than just their words and promises of the future. We have to present our narrative with logic and facts, not disputing with emotionally charged opinions in order to "always be right". Our voice needs to carry with loudness when it is educated and engaging in a healthy way, not just to rile up a crowd with controversy. We should share our opinions in a manner to attract like people we can enjoy sharing with rather than always seeking out division amongst common people. A mindset shift is all it takes to turn a bad situation into a fruitful or interesting conversation. We still have to be the responsible adult in any situation and act with integrity and honesty, especially when it involves our children too young and undeveloped to make their own choices safely and accordingly in society. We have to mentor them and show them how they should respond, showcasing we are capable of accountability and they should uphold that sense of good character as well. Nowadays though, too many people rely on blaming others in order to avoid accountability for their own humiliating actions. They panic and react in a way that makes the situation even more complicated because they do not continue educating and building experience in a consistent manner often enough to rely on performing by default of the body. Perception is different from each person's point of view based on their own experiences and abilities to process what is going on in their environment. Maturity is granted to us in levels as we continue to grow from our experiences and learn lessons from previous mistakes. Use your tools and skills acquired in life and keep staying informed so that you can teach others what matters most with true facts and rational decisions. Leadership should have a hierarchy based on age and experience in the household, yet man and wife should not be a means of division via power. There should be a healthy balance with a natural ebb and flow between partners that keeps them both active and engaging, yet accountable to contribute and teach the children their roles and responsibilities to the family as individuals as well as a parenting pair. Always remember: if you can't stand for something, you'll kneel for anything.
This episode takes us back to the origins of the theater in ancient Greece where many of the ideas of democracy also originated. Tragedy began with a lament for the fatal flaws in human character, while comedy used the cutting edge of humor to expose the hypocrisy of those who misuse power. Throughout history, satire has served as an instrument of the powerless against the powerful and as a necessary expression of freedom of both imagination and speech. The term stage comes from roots that mean “to stand or to take a stand;” not to simply be a stand-in, but to play a major role in the essential drama of living out the inner character and living truth of our soul. For, life requires that we stand for something meaningful, something beautiful, something enduring, especially during tragic times. Psychological maturity, whether in a person, a political party or a nation depends upon the ability to stand in the tension of opposites long enough for an unexpected third way to arise. By contrast, seeing life simply as a zero sum game of winners and losers can only lead to those in power demonizing others in order to sustain a false sense of superiority. While the two poles of a polarity may seem to be irreconcilable opposites, they are secretly part of a hidden unity, for existence itself is an essential unity appearing as a de facto duality. In times of polarization, the real point of meaningful discussions and debates is not simply to prove one side to be right or be superior to the other, but rather to seek to a “catharsis,” an emotional and mental release that clears both the mind and the heart and can lead to a genuine sense of healing and wholeness. The healing effects of a catharsis were considered to be an essential part of both tragedy and comedy. The point would not be to simply provoke strong emotions in the audience, but rather to create ways in which the expression of strong feelings could lead to new insights and greater realizations about life and how people, though we may disagree, each and all suffer both the inevitable conflicts of life and a deep longing for a sense of unity. As has been said, all the world is but a stage and we, by virtue of being alive at this critical time, are the only players available to take a stand for the essential freedom and life changing imagination of the human soul. And surprising as it may seem, each soul born bears a genius self, that should it become conscious, can reveal layers of understanding and ways of healing and creating that can help change the course of the world. This episode is an interview with makeup artist Juho Lehiö. Based in Copenhagen, Juho's work first caught my eye on TikTok and I fell in love with his style, even though if I had to, I think I would find it hard to pinpoint. He has often worked alongside the brilliant Inge Grognard, my favourite anti-fashion makeup artist, as well as the icon that is Pat McGrath – so I feel like he knows how to do any look, from the most simple and deconstructed to the most creative, refined look.We cover a lot in this episode; from Juho purchasing his first Wet and Wild makeup palette to learning how to treat his skin like a 60-year old woman, to how theatre and dance influenced his take on makeup and also how he's noticed that some makeup artists backstage at fashion week don't want to work on models with black or brown skin.We also discuss the value of feedback when it comes to your work and how you can stand against oppression when you work in the fashion space. Also, be sure to listen all the way to the end because I share a special announcement!LinksFollow Juho on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lehiojuhoFollow Juho on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@lehiojuhoWHERE TO FIND MESubstack: https://beautymenotes.substack.comThreads: https://www.threads.net/@charisse_kenion/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/charisse_kenion/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@charissekenionCheck out my ShopMy: https://shopmy.us/beautymeBusiness inquiries: info@charissekenion.com
Chris Quintana is back with Mary to talk about Hamas, Islam, and those who apologize in public for both. Having rejected Israel in every form, where does that leave us in this polarized world? It leaves Christians who have no biblical understanding of the importance of Israel and how her very existence proves a God Who knows the future AND keeps His Word. With celebrities dictating and influencing what others believe about such things at an alarming level, we have poster children Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens taking ignorant and outrageous anti-semitic stances, which colors their view on most everything else. Does it also discredit them? We talk about their influence and why anyone should be surprised by this. We also discuss Hamas and the notion of Israel being guilty of genocide, another ignorant and hateful stance. Finally, what in the world is going on in Texas? Islam is spreading like a July brushfire and local governments look the other way. We get Chris' take on why this is so in his own backyard. A full hour with a very articulate pastor/teacher/apologist. Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

It can be easy to feel like, as a Christian, we have all this power at our disposal but our actual day to day lifestyle doesn't really need it. The story of Samson reminds us that, despite ourselves, God has called us to stand in the way of death and sin and invites us to live in a way where we can allow, see, and experience God in and through our lives.
This powerful episode of the Family Plot Podcast is so full of stuff, we should wrap it in a bow! Krys announces this week that she prefers to go by Arthur with male pronouns. She also talks about dingoes, which Dean claims are his baby, or maybe just Merryl Streep's. Then we focus on the life of Rosa Parks. Her childhood, her first experiences with racism, her education and how she became a lifelong activist. And while she was not the first to get arrested for refusing to give up her seat for a white passenger, doing so made her the face of the Freedom Movement. We discuss her struggles and her continued activism later in life and so much more in this episode examining one of the people integral to the Freedom movement in the United States on this powerful episode of the Family Plot Podcast!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.

Co-Host Michael Lassen (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/lovefreedom) We all know that as men we need a strong identity and a sense of purpose. That, of course, leads to us being compelled to make a stand for what we value and believe in. But in post-modern Western culture where every social media account is a potential media outlet, and the iPhones go up at the slightest hint of public drama, we're confronted with having to weigh the costs and benefits of our so-called 'freedom of speech'. My returning guest Michael Lassen is an out-of-the-box thinker on most everything, and now that he's also a singer/songwriter, he considers himself to have a special freedom to, well...stand up and speak out. In this power-packed episode, we hit the ground running by explaining why we need to free our mind and speak up sooner than later, and earlier in life than we may even feel comfortable with. Moreover, we need to be ready at all times to do so. Do you have to be an 'angry young man' to make a stand? Or wait a minute, can anger be positive? What SHOULD we as men take a stand for nowadays? On a related note, what are too FEW men making a stand about? Does doing so necessarily involve fighting angry battles and conflict? Is the secret to humans staying more competent than AI going forward found in this conversation? Do you have to be a 'one-trick pony' with regard to the cause you're passionate toward? I mean, it seems to lack character to simply 'support the current thing' on a revolving basis, so how do we find some balance there? And best of all, how can having two very real passions absolutely supercharge your level of both personal fulfillment and professional success? Have you ever felt the importance of having a strong stance in life? Well, we're about to explore just that! Stay tuned as we uncover the layers of meaning behind this quote and discover how standing for something can truly transform our lives.
Humans can be negative. Our culture is negative much of the time. This can result in being against things, maybe a long list of things. Some have described this time as one of outrage. People find things to be outraged about. But instead of just being against things, consider this: What do you to stand for?Support the show

Taking a stand and expressing your thoughts is integral to being a leader in your industry. Showing prospective clients what you're passionate about and great at encourages them to choose you over your competitors. Don't be afraid to express your opinions; remember, it's impossible to please everyone. Instead, concentrate on being yourself while emphasizing your unique strengths. Your family, friends, coworkers and even the barista at Starbucks - they are all judging your behavior. If you consider yourself a Christian, then everything you do, every word and action, every social media post, the way you respond to people, your attitude, even the way you drive reflects upon Jesus. You tell people about your faith based on how you live. So, our goal as Christians is to be irresistible! You might be criticized for what you believe, but loved for your compassion and generosity. It's time to do everything in our power to make people who feel far from God, feel welcome in the church. In this special message, guest speaker Dave Adamson, author of “MetaChurch: How to Use Digital Ministry to Reach People and Make Disciples,” explains how our friends and neighbors experience Jesus in YOU and everything you do. Watch this message from Liquid Church and discover how to let people know that Jesus is everything we say He is… by being everything He says we are!
