TITLE: Two Emcees Double Down on Event Success (ft. John Di Domenico | Event Emcee | Impersonator | Keynote Speaker)GUEST BIO:Emmy-nominated actor and 5X Best of Las Vegas winner John Di Domenico brings comedy and impressions to corporate events. Featured on Conan, Kimmel, and Howard Stern, he's collaborated with Fortune 500 companies like AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, and American Express as a professional emcee, delivering memorable experiences through custom content.OPENING QUOTE:Because the thing that an emcee does best, you and I do, that people can't see. If we do it right, it's seamless. It's that we keep the meeting moving, we keep the audience engaged, we read the audience. Do they need a serious moment here? Do they need to physically stand up? What do they need to keep that high level of engagement?SUMMARY:Scott Bloom and John Di Domenico, both experienced MCs and performers, reflect on their careers and long friendship. They share how their journeys in stand-up comedy led them into the world of corporate events. Both started their entertainment careers doing stand-up from a young age, but realized the corporate event world allowed them to use their skills in more creative and collaborative ways.John shares the path he took from performing in clubs and working as a copywriter to becoming a sought-after corporate entertainer, impersonator, and MC. He talks about the importance of deep customization—learning about the company, its culture, and the people in the audience—to deliver performances that truly resonate. Scott echoes this, highlighting how being able to read the room and keep audiences engaged is what sets professional MCs apart from internal company hosts.John details his unique process for preparing for events, from extensive research into company backgrounds to speech warmups (a legacy of overcoming childhood speech impediments). He also touches on his journey from doing full-character impersonations (complete with wigs and prosthetics) to performing as himself while using his array of voices and impressions for added flavor. Both hosts note that today's audiences for business events are more sophisticated and expect a "show," not just a meeting. The episode finishes with a fun rapid-fire Q&A where John reveals his favorite character (Austin Powers), his go-to karaoke song, and his hidden talents. The conversation overall is engaging, light-hearted, and packed with wisdom for the new event professional to the seasoned professional.HIRE THEM TO HOST OR SPEAK:Follow John Di Domenico: thejohnnydshow.com/Follow Scott Bloom: eSpeakers BioFollow eSpeakers: eSpeakers MarketplaceABOUT NO MORE BAD EVENTS:Brought to you by eSpeakers and hosted by professional emcee, host, and keynote speaker Scott Bloom, No More Bad Events is where you'll hear from some of the top names in the event and speaking industry about what goes on behind the scenes at the world's most perfectly executed conferences, meetings, and more. TITLE:The Speaker Effect (ft. Amy Eddy | SVP & Strategic Account Advisor | BigSpeak Speakers Bureau) GUEST BIO:Amy Eddy is a Senior Vice President and Strategic Account Advisor, where she advocates for her clients, empowers them to make the right investment and is energized by the potential of the human spirit. A Westmont College graduate with dual business and social science degrees, Amy excels under pressure—once securing a keynote speaker with only 4 hours notice. OPENING QUOTE:“What's that one thing you want them to walk away with and not do it based on maxing out the budget. But what's going to be the most effective, the most helpful? My dream is when a client calls me and says, remember who we had two years ago, three years ago? You know that like you said about Kevin, you know, that's when I know this person is really good at what they do. When my Client remembers their name and actually remembers how they made them feel or gave them that insight that has stuck with them years later.” SUMMARY:Welcome back to another episode of No More Bad Events. Today, Scott sits down with Amy Eddy, a seasoned speaker bureau agent from Big Speak with over 18 years in the events industry. Tune in as they pull back the curtain on what really goes into planning memorable events, from the evolving role of technology and AI in the speaker business to the crucial art of choosing the right keynote speaker. You'll get a candid look at the behind-the-scenes decision-making, including why some speakers leave a lasting impression, how to balance entertainment and impact on the main stage, and what clients often overlook when building their event lineup. Plus, Amy shares anecdotes from her own extensive experience—think Roombas on the loose, last-minute speaker scrambles, and why the human touch still matters in our high-tech world.Whether you're booking your next big conference or just curious about what makes events truly unforgettable, get ready for expert insights, a few laughs, and plenty of actionable tips straight from two pros who know how to keep both audiences and event planners engaged. AUDIOGRAM[19:29-20:08]:And so when we come in and start to partner with them, we got to get them to shift, shift gears and think about like after the event is over, what do you want to be happening? And I think that just for a lot of people, they're just not thinking that way. Right. They've got a hundred things to do regarding this conference. This is one piece of it. It's super stressful. It's a lot of money. I mean, literally, people can lose jobs for hiring the wrong person. So it can be really stressful. So that's a challenge that we have. And I think an important job that we do is to get them thinking about what about after, what do you want to be going on after? And then we'll backtrack from there to figure out who's the right fit. HIRE THEM TO SPEAK:Follow Amy Eddy: linkedin.com/in/amy-eddy-3588b65Follow Scott Bloom: eSpeakers BioFollow eSpeakers: eSpeakers Marketplace ABOUT NO MORE BAD EVENTS:Brought to you by eSpeakers and hosted by professional emcee, host, and keynote speaker Scott Bloom, No More Bad Events is where you'll hear from some of the top names in the event and speaking industry about what goes on behind the scenes at the world's most perfectly executed conferences, meetings, and more. Title: Mind over Matter (ft. Wayne Lee | Peak Performance Expert | Hall of Fame Speaker and Entertainer)Bio: A peak performance expert, Wayne Lee helps individuals and teams break free from self-limiting beliefs to unlock their full potential. With over 20 years of experience, his dynamic keynotes and interactive hypnosis shows inspire audiences to embrace change, take risks, and achieve their maximum potential.Opening Quote: Life is one big hypnosis show. You're either performing or you're not. And I always like to say, to play on the words, is all transformation starts in trance. People are in a trance with their habitual thought patterns, moment to moment, probably 80% of the day. So if they pick a different trance, and that just means getting into a state where they're focused upon a new belief, a new thought, through repetition and relaxation, they then transform.Summary: The mind is a powerful tool.  Are you ready to use it?  Stand by because, in this episode of No More Bad Events, we dive into the fascinating world of the mind with our guest, Wayne Lee. With his experience as an entertainer and hypnotist, Wayne has transitioned into the keynote space, where he utilizes principles of hypnosis to help people change their mindset. He shares how his journey began as a teacher and a wrestler, where the power of visualization first captured his interests, eventually leading him to explore hypnosis. Throughout the conversation, Wayne emphasizes the significance of understanding the subconscious mind and how our beliefs, often ingrained by age 12, dictate our thoughts and actions. Exploring the SCP (Subconscious Creation Process), Wayne introduces techniques like the "W.A.I.T tool" to enhance awareness and recalibrate our thinking patterns. Additionally, he illustrates the transformative power of hypnosis and imagination through interactive demonstrations, showing how shifting perceptions can lead to remarkable personal growth and freedom. And most importantly to all planners out there, he touches upon how to get the most from speakers and hypnotists (of course) at events.  Wanna know more? His background includes decades of contributions to live and digital communication. As an instructor at the PCMA Event Leadership Institute, Nick currently offers an AI Certificate course tailor-made for event organizers looking to bring the power of AI into their work. Opening Quote:“And what I was teaching myself and them was iteration, like, don't stop with whatever it gives you. Keep going, keep going further, make it more fun, make it more creative. And, like, that's the sort of skill we all need to be able to have, is just keep going and just be more curious and just get more creative. And if you could find a fun way into that, you'll do it more, and if you do it more, you'll get better at it.”Summary:In this lively episode of No More Bad Events, Scott and guest Nick Borelli dive into the exciting interplay of AI and human creativity in event planning. Kicking things off, Nick assures us that while AI is a fantastic tool, it's our human touch—empathy, curiosity, and creativity—that truly makes events extraordinary. With that in mind, simply think of AI as your new, super-smart, and fast assistant, sparking fresh ideas and offering new perspectives but never stealing the show. It's just an amazing time-saving resource that pushes the envelope.Furthermore, Nick discusses the need for education in AI to fully unlock its potential. This educational push will help event organizers use AI to its fullest, from streamlining mundane tasks to enhancing creative brainstorms.  And to that end, Nick talks about learning to modify AI responses by asking for iterations (aka prompt engineering) to help get you to your objective.  Nick also chats about and clears up the differences between facial recognition and facial analysis. While facial recognition handles security and check-ins, facial analysis offers insights into attendees' expressions and sentiments without recording any data—super useful for understanding crowd vibes in real-time.  It's fascinating.Concluding, Scott and Nick encourage everyone to embrace AI as a game-changer in event planning. Use it to optimize processes, personalize experiences, and make your events more engaging and accessible. So you need to know why you're doing something, and you need to know who you're doing it for. And then you need to bring those things together and then design in a way that is going to help you achieve whatever your objectives are, that success doesn't happen by accident.”Summary:In this episode of No More Bad Events, Scott chats with Tahira Endean about the evolving events industry and the significance of attending IMEX, a major industry gathering.  While IMEX is discussed in detail, Tahira also addresses why events fail.  And in light of the No More Bad Events mission, this is particularly interesting. She shares stories of what failed events have looked like and how event collectives are studying the reasons why and then, based on their learnings, are developing methodologies to mitigate epic fails … methodologies like empathy mapping and prototyping design.  To further ensure nothing but the best events— events that inspire, motivate, and educate like IMEX— Scott and Tahira discuss the complexities of organizing inclusive and sustainable events, the need for upskilling and reskilling post-Covid, the integration of AI as well as incorporating innovative trends and activations based on attendee feedback … things like Intentional Design, Event Profs Unplugged, Wonder Walks and Tough Talks...  The latter two activations uncovered the use of nature in trade show booths via a walking tour format, as well as access to private chat rooms for talks about issues like social anxiety and men and mental health. Finally, Tahira whets our appetites for what's coming up at IMEX America in October.  And there's a lot to consider. If you missed part one of this conversation, you may want to catch up with that before listening to this one. In that episode, Kevin and I touched on Bette's childhood, explored her early years in the off-off-Broadway experimental and very campy Gay theater scene, detailed her unusual rise to at least demi-stardom at the Continental Baths, her debut on Broadway in Fiddler On The Roof, and her Tony Award wining concert at the Palace Theater which set the stage for the first of what Kevin calls her Broadway musicals of her own devising: Bette Midler's Clams On The Halfshell Revue, conceived and staged by Broadway director/choreographer Joe Layton, and the shows that followed. For more than twenty years Kevin Winkler was a curator, archivist, and administrator at the New York Public Library, and prior to that, he was a professional dancer. His previous books include the award-winning Big Deal: Bob Fosse and Dance in the American Musical in 2018, and Everything is Choreography: The Musical Theatre of Tommy Tune. She also recounts meeting legendary musician Stephen Van Zandt at a concert and her collection of drumsticks from the bands she's seen. However, it was Soraia's performance in 2022 that truly changed Dawn's life. Following a dark period after the loss of her partner, Dawn reluctantly attended the concert, only to find solace and renewal in the music.
