Following the episode on the history of Sumo Palace earlier this week, The Eastern Lariat has a quick turnaround and stays on the topic at first with a preview of Pro Wrestling NOAH's double shot in that exact building. What's to be expected from these two shows? Who is X? What's with all the foreign talent coming in? From there, STRIGGA and Dylan take it to GLEAT and their three shows in April that saw Lindaman's first defense of the G-REX Championship. His stablemate T-Hawk is still in the running for the Champion Carnival, which is the 3rd topic on the show. Last, but not least, the Eastern Lariat team looks at New Japan Pro Wrestling following the announcement of the big AEW/NJPW supershow in June. Also Zeus. Zeus is always important.

(STINGER: WWE) New matches are now set for WrestleMania following Saturday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Brock Lesnar will meet Roman Reigns in a Champion vs. Champion, Winner Takes All match. Lesnar won the WWE Championship in the men's Chamber match on Saturday. The former champion, Bobby Lashley, never got into the match. He was removed from the match after being struck by a busted glass panel on his pod after a Seth Rollins powerbomb to Austin Theory. And now, there are reports that Lashley is dealing with a legitimate shoulder injury. Bianca Belair will challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's Championship at WrestleMania…after Belair won the women's Chamber match on Saturday. As of Monday morning, there are no matches announced for tonight's RAW. (STINGER: Impact) What is happening in Bullet Club? Jay White TURNED on Tama Tonga…and cost the Guerrillas Of Destiny their title match against the Impact Tag Champs the Good Brothers at Impact's No Surrender show Saturday night. White shared a “Too Sweet” with the Good Brothers and Chris Bey. Earlier in the show, White beat Eric Young. The other major development from No Surrender: The group of Ring of Honor outcasts calling themselves Honor No More is apparently in Impact to stay. Morrissey to retain the Impact World Title. Mickie James beat Tasha Steelz to hold on to the Knockouts Title. Deonna Purrazzo beat Miranda Alize to retain the ROH Women's Championship. Matt Cardona is still the Digital Media Champion, but it took a DQ win over Jordynne Grace. Jake Something won a 4-way to become the #1 contender for the X-Division Title. (STINGER: AEW) Kenny Omega is still at least a couple of months away from returning. He told Wrestling Observer Radio, he still needs to get hernia surgery. Recovery time for that would be about six-to-eight weeks and Omega says he could be ready to return after that. Tonight's Dark Elevation has a big 10-man tag: Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson, Frankie Kazarian, Brock Anderson, and Matt Sydal vs. The Wingmen's Peter Avalon, JD Drake & Cezar Bononi, and Chaos Project. Plus, Nyla Rose, LEGIT Leyla Hirsch & Emi Sakura vs. A.Q.A, Skye Blue & Kiera Hogan. Former 2-time Ohio Valley Wrestling Women's Champion Haley J will be on the show…for a match against Ruby Soho. Plus, Violence Is Forever - Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku - are in an 8-man tag. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan unveiled a 48-man field for this year's New Japan Cup tournament - the largest ever! If you haven't listened to a 5 Matches episode yet, every week John and the guest each choose 2 matches to watch and talk about on the episode. Then we each choose a third match, which is put up to a vote on the @wrestleomakase Twitter account, letting the listeners choose our fifth and final match of the week! It's a fun retro format featuring all sorts of different wrestling! John is joined by returning guest Jake (@Oatgan) to discuss a very unique set of five matches. Before they get into this week's set of matches Jake and John briefly discuss the Yakuza game series which is now helping John pass these many lonely quarantine hours at home, plus there's some talk about some recent empty arena wrestling shows and how some of the new ones out of Japan have been improving as well. Once that's out of the way we get into our five picks for this week, and here they all are in order of discussion: 1. It was an important weekend for local wrestling in Singapore as two of our top promotions, SPW and Grapple MAX put up showstopping shows. Mister Young and FRGN were on hand to catch all of the action from SPW vs OWE: Oriental Storm as well as Showcase 10 featuring wrestlers from Japanese promotion DDT. The podcast duo ran through the respective cards and all the craziness that ensued from snapped ring ropes and fire-branded slaps. Other highlights include Alex Cuevas's return against El Lindaman, Destroyer Dharma winning his first ever championship and The Statement enduring one hell of a beating from T-Hawk. Not forgetting Grapple MAX offering a shocking heel turn and the beginning of a new uprising faction. Finally, we round up this week's Raw and SmackDown as WWE heads on the road to Summerslam while also keeping an eye out for New Japan's G1 Climax.

It's the return of Alex 'La Estrella' Cuevas to the Kick To The Gut studios! Since the last time we caught up in Season 1, he has rejoined SPW, toured Europe (namely the UK, Germany and Russia) and is now preparing to face El Lindaman, from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Oriental Wrestling Entertainment (OWE) in tomorrow's Oriental Storm event. The newly christened 'Quicksilver' also shared anecdotes of meeting Hardcore Holly in Germany, learning European-style psychology and why British wrestling is currently the hottest it's ever been. Alex then joined the podcast duo in running down the card including highly anticipated matches between Andruew 'The Statement' Tang vs T-Hawk and Trexxus vs Cima. Fresh off their WWE tryout in Shanghai, our locals wrestlers will be out to prove that they can hang with the best of them. Finally, Mister Young and FRGN discussed this past week's Raw Reunion and Smackdown's latest Summerslam match announcements.

I’m FINALLY reviewing the 1/5 Wrestle-1 show. This was essentially a ‘one-match’ show (fitting, since this is Wrestle-ONE), but the Strong Hearts inclusion made it all worth while. Especially that Ashino vs T-Hawk main event, which was a definite must-see match. What sort of things do I talk about? Well here are some teasers: “T-HAWK A DAMN KING. Long-ish may he reign”“Ashino gonna vanquish these villains, you can bet on that”“Strong Hearts are pretty good in case you didn’t know““IKEMEN A DAMN KING TOO, also a jester though”“Tajiri is still fun. Disagreement here is not tolerated”“That undercard… yikes”  * Follow me on Twitter: @puregradepuro * Official Podcast: Youtube – Apple Podcasts – Podbean

Two months have passed since our last episode, which is long even for us, but we're back with the latest edition of Open the Voice Gate! All four regular hosts are here to discuss, among other topics: a brief recap of the very mixed bag that was this year's Summer Adventure Tag League, much longer recaps of the Dangerous Gate PPV and the 9/29 Korakuen show, a look ahead at Tozawa's departure, T-Hawk and El Lindaman's heel turns (and subsequent fashion changes), three out of four of us are anime trash, the other one likes dirtbikes, mailbag questions, and more! Sadly as the name should tell you we say goodbye to one of our hosts in this episode, as it's Dylan's last episode. We know you'll agree that he will be missed!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/open-the-voice-gate/donations

This week on Wrestling Omakase we give you a double dose of BIG VAN VADER, more Sting, a DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Battle Royale, some 2014 DG action featuring Akira Tozawa and early weekly PPV era TNA! It's a fun retro format featuring all sorts of different wrestling!John is joined by returning guest Jake (@Oatgan) to discuss a very unique set of five matches. Before they get into this week's set of matches Jake and John briefly discuss the Yakuza game series which is now helping John pass these many lonely quarantine hours at home, plus there's some talk about some recent empty arena wrestling shows and how some of the new ones out of Japan have been improving as well. Once that's out of the way we get into our five picks for this week, and here they all are in order of discussion:1. T-Hawk vs. Akira Tozawa, DG 5/9/14 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYsTt1sfCXE)2. Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Rick & Scott Steiner, NJPW 6/26/92 (NJPW World: https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00107_1_1)3. Ken Shamrock vs. Sabu, TNA 7/24/02 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCEzmIFbsxs)4. Ironman Heavymetalweight Battle Royale, DDT 11/3/19 (DDT Universe: https://www.ddtpro.com/universe/videos/7212, match starts at 32:40)5. Sting vs. Vader, WCW 12/28/92 (WWE Network: https://watch.wwe.com/episode/Starrcade-1992-9818)Some of the discussion points that come up along the way include: DG units of the time period and where things went sideways with the Millennials, how Vader, Bam Bam and the Steiners came together here and then immediately went off in different directions never to meet again, TNA's long history of top heel units including lots of SEX talk, DDT jokes that are easy to get vs. harder ones, and where this particular match stands up in the Sting-Vader pantheon.Support Wrestling Omakase with a donation through Red Circle! After a typically long layoff Open the Voice Gate (well, 2/3rds of it at least- no Milo this week, but he'll return soon!) is back to discuss all things Dragon Gate! But first, we talk about deathmatches in BJW, deathmatches in Brooklyn (that one of our hosts attended!), the joys of unfettered access to Japanese television, and more. Once we turn our attention to DG, our first topic concerns our 2017 OTVG Year-End Awards, which are still open for voting through January 7th and you can vote on here: bit.ly/otvgawards. John & Mike each give their picks for all the major awards, including MVP, Most Outstanding, Match of the Year, Show of the Year, Best Tag Team, Best Unit, and more! Our show reviews cover two events: the Memorial Gate in Sendai show from 11/26 and the 12/5 Fantastic Gate Korakuen featuring Doi Darts, as we break down both shows in full. We then preview this week's upcoming events, the 12/20 Korakuen & 12/23 Final Gate cards. Finally, we wrap things up with our Retro Rewatch match, as we cover T-Hawk & Eita vs. Shingo & Tozawa from Kobe World 2014 (which you can watch here: https://goo.gl/yw1oPV). It's another packed 2 hours full of OTVG goodness, so don't miss it!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/open-the-voice-gate/donations

We needed to do this. Open the Voice Gate returns after a long absence to tackle a major subject: T-Hawk, the 2017 King of Gate winner and soon to be 2-time Kobe World main eventer. Needless to say, this is not a development any of us are happy with, so we get it all out there and talk about how it's also emblematic of some of the other problems we have with Dragon Gate in 2017. But it's not all negative, as we also discuss a wide range of other topics, including a long conversation about anime conventions (of all things) in the context of whether or not Mike should go to Anime Expo this year! Plus we break down the July 1st Korakuen, talk several of the other shows that have made tape (Yamanashi with Shingo's homecoming and Osaka), preview the upcoming major matches, answer a few of your questions (mostly on T-Hawk, oddly enough) and do our latest edition of the Retro Rewatch series with SUWA vs. Dragon Kid (mask vs. hair) from June 2000! If you thought we were fired up before, wait until you hear us on this one....Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/open-the-voice-gate/donations
