Chris Brookes was a documentary producer who influenced generations of radio makers worldwide. In April 2023, he died in a tragic accident. IDEAS honours the spirit of this master craftsman of sound with a documentary made by his longtime friend and colleague, David Mairowitz.

Friends of Chris Brookes are paying tribute to the radio-maker by re-airing his work from Cabot Tower. CBC's Gavin Simms takes us to Signal Hill to learn more.

This past weekend New Japan presented two G1 Climax shows that could not have been more different. While the one from Nagaoka received almost unanimous praise, the one two days later in Nagano was rated the lowest of all G1 shows this year so far. STRIGGA & Dylan discuss all the matches and go into some wrestler's quest so far and in some cases – once again – question their role in the biggest tournament of the year. The G1 talk is sandwiched between some notes on DRAGONGATE's King of Gate and their upcoming Korakuen as well as DDT's Peter Pan with the emotional highlight of Chris Brookes winning the KO-D Title at the beginning and a quick review of Stardom's 5 Star Grand Prix opening night at the end of the show.

When Rob heard the news, he immediately started work on this remembrance featuring excerpts from several of Chris' distinctive productions — stories where Chris' clear, authorial voice, his fingerprint, is evident and inspiring.

This archival shipwreck story of sonic wizardry spans continents and centuries, courtesy of the great radio producer Chris Brookes. Chris passed away earlier this month in St. John's, but leaves behind a trove of audio stories like this one, that first aired in 2002.

Chris Brookes was a masterful radio storyteller from St. John's, Newfoundland who helped change the way we make, and listen, to radio. He died from an accidental fall on Monday, April 10, 2023. In tribute of his audio legacy, IDEAS revisits a 2009 documentary, Hark!, about an audio exploration of what Elizabethan England may have sounded like.

A previous aesthetic surgeon at Old Changi Hospital, The "Good" Doctor Gore was forced out of the hospital after a botched surgery, either his own or that of one of his patients. Having secluded himself for an untold, unknown, period of time. Doctor Gore now roams the world, driven insane by his obsession with beauty and pain, inflicting his own brand of analytical, deliberate pain on the unfortunate subjects he meets in the ring. As Dr. Gore, Caleb is the first Singaporean to debut in Gatoh Move Thailand, with notable victories over DJ Nira and Michael Nakazawa. He has also wrestled against Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi, Emi Sakura and even WWE's Dante Chen.

The proceeds from each trip are directed to supporting the society’s mission of lighthouse preservation and education. In this episode, host Jeremy D'Entremont interviews Chris Brookes, a volunteer tour planner and leader. The Nubble in winter, photo by Jeremy D'Entremont Built in 1879, the Cape Neddick Light Station in York, Maine, is on a small rocky island known as the Nubble and is best known to the public as the Nubble Light. Visitors drive to Sohier Park in York to view the lighthouse and other buildings across a narrow channel of water. Close to half a million people come to see it each year. Matt Rosenberg is an English teacher and also the seasonal caretaker for Sohier Park and the Nubble Lighthouse. Matt is also the supervisor of a student organization known as the York Youth Lighthouse Preservation Association, or YYLPA. "Light Hearted" host Jeremy D'Entremont interviewed Matt Rosenberg and YYLPA President Rachel Carr for this episode. Jeremy and his special guest co-host, filmmaker Rob Apse, introduce a special offer in the U.S. Lighthouse Society's online gift shop.
