There is a better than 80% chance that, at this moment, you are a Chaser. In doing a little informal research, I noticed that about 90% of the people who read my articles, listen to my podcast, read my b0oks, or use my System, are chasing right now. Why? Because right now, their spouse (and likely, your spouse) is being a Spacer. The Chaser/Spacer pattern can vary over time -- who is doing which, how fast both are moving, and what the distance looks like. Sometimes, couple switch roles. Usually, because the Chaser gives up and becomes the Spacer, causing the Spacer to suddenly shift to being the Chaser. There HAS to be a better way... right? Right?? Why yes, yes there is. So glad you asked! In this podcast, I tell you about the Chaser/Spacer roles, how they come to be, why the are so problematic, and why they don't have to be permanent roles or patterns. We unwind it. And I tell you about the better role. Listen below to discover how to stop being the Chaser or Spacer... and what to do, instead! In a thought-provoking sermon, Pastor Benny Ferguson delves into the profound concept of God's goodness amid life's trials. Drawing from biblical narratives like David and Goliath, he confronts the age-old question: Why do bad things happen if God is good? Through poignant examples and scripture, Pastor Benny illuminates the complexities of human suffering and divine purpose. In the end, he leaves us with a powerful truth: God's goodness transcends our understanding, even in the darkest moments. Standout Quote: "For evil to exist, you have to have a standard of good. There HAS to be good for there to be bad." Zero to One - Peter Thiel Contrarian Thinker + Disruption AZ TRT S04 EP50 (213) 12-17-2023 What We Learned This Week Contrarian Thinking – think for yourself and differently than everyone else Innovation great companies have unique products that go from Zero to one, vertical Founders are important and challenge the Status Quo to change the world Competition is for losers, strive for a Monopoly Secrets – What Great Company is No One Building? Disruption in Business & Tech World - How to Handle The Innovator's Dilemma Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future (c- 2014) #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “This book delivers completely new and refreshing ideas on how to create value in the world.”—Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta “Peter Thiel has built multiple breakthrough companies, and Zero to One shows how.”—Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things. Thiel begins with the contrarian premise that we live in an age of technological stagnation, even if we're too distracted by shiny mobile devices to notice. Information technology has improved rapidly, but there is no reason why progress should be limited to computers or Silicon Valley. Progress can be achieved in any industry or area of business. It comes from the most important skill that every leader must master: learning to think for yourself. Doing what someone else already knows how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But when you do something new, you go from 0 to 1. The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won't make a search engine. Tomorrow's champions will not win by competing ruthlessly in today's marketplace. They will escape competition altogether, because their businesses will be unique. Zero to One presents at once an optimistic view of the future of progress in America and a new way of thinking about innovation: it starts by learning to ask the questions that lead you to find value in unexpected places. Book on Amazon: HERE Zero to One Book Summary: HERE By XDEV 200 from 8/2020 Notes: Seg. 1: Zero to One - Rethinking the Future Zero to One - 0 to 1 The idea that new innovation goes vertical or up, technological progress If you just make a car that goes a little faster, that is horizontal progress (1 to n), like globalization, copying existing ideas and then improve a little Founders are Important, and challenge the Status Quo Competition is over-rated, and you should strive to be a Monopoly. Innovation is based on Secrets Startups, Cults, & The PayPal Mafia There Has been Little Progress… Contrarian Thinking Thiel believes contrarian thinking can change the future. “What important truth do very few people agree with you on?” Innovation Easier to copy a model than to make something new. Doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1. The act of creation is singular, as is the moment of creation, and the result is something fresh and strange. Thiel's approach for this question stems from a phrase that he used, “Brilliant thinking is rare but courage is in even shorter supply than genius.” Mark Twain: “If you find yourself on the side of the majority its time to pause and reflect.” Build a hyper niche company with a product 10x better than predecessors Go from Zero to One and truly innovate to change the world. Founders The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won't make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won't create a social network. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. There is no entrepreneur roadmap. It's all different and unique than before. You have to think for yourself and create your own path. Founders have vision and know how to build a startup team that believes in them so much – like a cult. Founders are not like everyone else. They challenge themselves, their team and the status quo. Seg 2: Competition Per Thiel - ”All happy companies are different: each one earns a monopoly by solving a unique problem. All failed companies are the same: they failed to escape competition.” He asks the difficult question: “What valuable company is nobody building?” Your company must be unique and serve a niche to create value, and not be a commodity. You are looking for Blue Oceans with little competition vs a Red Ocean with business' eating away at each other and no profits. Thiel explains the differences between a Monopoly (inherently not evil) vs. a Perfect Competition (arguably dangerous for businesses vitality). Oddly, Monopolies try to act like they are not dominant, while competitive business act as if they are unique. Examples: Firm A — disguised as a monopoly: Google has a monopoly on search but emphasizes the small share of global online advertising, and other miscellaneous business models. Firm B — disguised as a perfect competition: A local restaurant tries to find fake differentiators by being the “only British restaurant in Palo Alto” yet they are using inaccurate metrics. The real marker would be “restaurants” not “Restaurant type” Business and MBA students obsess over competition and use the Art of War for metaphors. Thiel, asks a challenge question: “Why do people compete?” 1. Marx model: Since we are inherently different and possess distinct goals, and 2. Shakespeare model: All competitors are more-or-less similar (ex: Montague vs Capulet) This distracts companies to focus on the competition and not their core goal of good products and customers. For example, while Microsoft and Google were obsessively competing with each other Apple emerged and surpassed both. What defines a monopoly? 1. Proprietary technology (10 times better than any existing solution), 2. Network effect (start with a hyper-niche market. If you think its too big it is), 3. The economy of scale (SaaS vs employee labor-intensive), and 4. Excellent Branding (Apple Branding to stay continual trend). How can we build a monopoly? 1. Actively attempt to seek a hyper-niche target market that has little to no competitors. Serve them, and do it well (all that matters == customer: “Anything You Want”), 2. Once you have dominated the market expands to the nearest adjacent market. Similar to Amazon selling CDs, DVDs then everything else, 3. Do not disrupt current giants. PayPal worked with Visa. Everyone won, and 4. Attempt to make the last great development in a specific market and reap all the benefits of a mature ecosystem. Secrets Companies are based on secrets, and when the secret is revealed, the company could change the world. Thiel questions what secrets are left, and are companies even looking for secrets? Q: What happens when a company stops believing in secrets? Companies can lose their dominant position by not innovating, but resting on past success. Hewlett-Packard Example: 1. 1990 company worth $9Bn 2. 2000 after a decade of inventions (first affordable color printer, first super-portable laptops) worth $135Bn 3. 2005 worth $70Bn (failed merge with Compaq, failed consulting/support shops) 4. 2012 worth $23Bn as a result of an abandoned search for technological secrets. Every great business is built around a secret that's hidden from the outside. Inner workings of Google's PageRank algorithm, Apple iPhone in 2007, etc… Seg. 3: Replay Clip from Seg. 2 of 3/6/2022 Show – BRT S03 EP10 (109) 3-6-2022 – Topic: Best of Host Matt on Business Topics – McDonalds, Apple, Disruption, 80/20 MB on Disruption in Business & The Innovator's Dilemma book by Clayton Christensen Clayton Christensen's book, “The Innovator's Dilemma” Tech Disruption – technology changes and a small company startup can up-end big tech companies. Hence, disruption - the power of disruption, why market leaders are often set up to fail as technologies and industries change and what incumbents can do to secure their market leadership for a long time. Innovator's Dilemma – how can big companies stay up with tech changes and pivot without hurting core business? All businesses (including tech companies) have trouble with disruption. Example: Blockbuster – rented movies, DVDs, lost market share to Red Box (vending movie rental), then both disrupted by streaming movies. Music industry went from records to cassettes to CDs to streaming (Napster). MySpace taken out by Facebook in social networks. Yahoo search taken out by Google (controls 75% of the search market) Kodak afraid to get out of film business and passed on digital film, lost market share. To solve the Innovator's Dilemma, big companies acquire smaller tech companies; have in house R&D to be ready for next tech wave. Steve Jobs of Apple was very influenced by Innovator's Dilemma and took this idea seriously. If you do not try to put your company out of business (w/ disruption / new tech), someone else will. Jobs was not afraid to innovate, and cannibalize his own company and products to stay relevant. Apple created iPhone, and now computer is in your pocket Peter Thiel – “Zero to One” book - Great innovation is not A to B to C, it is vertical, jumps curves. Current smart phones have more computing power than a computer 20 years ago. On this episode of There Has to Be a Better Way?, co-hosts Zach Coseglia and Hui Chen speak with researchers at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business about the value of corporate compliance programs. Compliance can be (inaccurately) perceived as a “cost center” or an “enabling function,” supporting rather than contributing to product development and business strategy. But business law and ethics professors Todd Haugh and Suneal Bedi tested this idea by assessing the role of compliance in value creation. They discuss findings from their recent study, which explores how consumers value compliance—as a unique product feature—using a statistical technique called conjoint analysis.

INSTAGRAM instagram.com/vanexfavors YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/vanexfavors Music https://sng.to/vanex simply can't tell if I'm wrong. I've vented about it to people and it's split 50/50 and I'm losing my freaking head here. I met my fiance 6 years ago and I came in to the relationship with 2 boys. My fiance has no biological children but he's great with my boys. There HAS been discussion of having a baby together in the past but it was something we were always on the fence about because my youngest has some behavioral issues that exhausts us most days. So it was kind of a "no, definitely no more babies" one minute and then "if it happens, it happens" the next minute. I'm on birth control. Or I was, up until last week when I found out I'm pregnant. I never failed to take it on time. I had an alarm set for every single night at 8pm and took it religiously for the past 4 years! Maybe it was the antibiotics I was on last month BUT I made sure to wait a week after taking the antibiotics to even do.. you know.. so I thought I was safe but regardless, here we are. Completely unexpected. Well, my fiance is much more calm about this than I am. I'm scared shitless. I mean, I'm happy but terrified and holy hell my emotions have been a rollercoaster ride in itself. I'm very quick to sadden and anger now and I can't even stand myself. So please, tell me if I'm overreacting with this comment.. we were talking about the kids, including new baby, and he just went real quiet for awhile and when he finally spoke again he goes "I'm going to end up treating them different". I asked what he meant and he goes "well I love the boys but like.. they're not mine. It's not going to be the same and I'm going to love my child much more." I immediately got up and left. It was a smack in the face. My boys real father passed before I met my fiance in a horrific accident. My boys call my fiance dad for crying out loud and have since forever (they were only 2 and 1 when he met them). So I left to get space because that comment hurt so much and raised questions because if he starts treating them all different simply because he now has a blood child, I simply can't put my boys through it. He says I'm overreacting. AITA? https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/10dxuto/aita_for_leaving_after_a_comment_that_imo_was/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vanex/support

Good news! As a result of the relentless attack on term limits in Michigan, a group of citizens has formed the “Term Limits Defense Fund,” which will raise awareness as well as a goal of one million dollars to fight back against the corrupt political system in their state! There HAS to be a reason why hundreds of businesses are relocating to the most term-limited state of Florida, and Michigan is aware: Career politicians suck, citizen legislators rock!

With alcohol being so prevalent in society, it takes more than one episode of the podcast to cover questions on the subject adequately. In this episode, Thom explores the question of being able to replicate the effects of alcohol ‘naturally,' and explains the difference between alcohol and drugs or spirit medicine in this regard. He discusses references in Vedic texts to alcohol, and how to distinguish between actual references to alcohol and metaphorical references to the effects of ‘Soma' in the body.Lastly, the role of Vedic Meditation in helping someone attain sobriety is covered from two different angles. Whether alcohol is part of your life or not, this episode will give you a deeper understanding of mechanics for why alcohol has become a part the lives of so many.Episode Highlights:[00:45] Q- How Can You Replicate the Effects of Alcohol Naturally?[01:31] Understanding the Pathway of Alcohol [03:19] Alcohol Destroys Brain Functioning[04:16] Selective Poisoning of the Brain[05:17] Inhibitions Can Be Good[06:54] What Meditation Does For Us in Contrast to Inhibition[08:04] Strengthening the Good Inhibitions[09:02] Q- Can You Discuss the Mention of Alcohol in Ancient Indian Texts and Modern Culture?[09:18] Soma- The Cocktail of All the Bliss Chemicals[11:04] The Unsustainable vs the Sustainable[13:12] Q- Is it Common for People Struggling With Imbibing to Take to Vedic Meditation Enthusiastically?[13:39] Imbibers Are Brave People[15:28] "There Has to Be Something More Than This"[16:43] Turiya - The Fourth Consciousness State[18:25] Godhead - Where Individuality Meetis Universality[20:01] An Imbiber is a Seeker[21:09] Q- What's the Spiritual Explanation for the Worse Experience in the Early Days of Sobriety[21:26] People Experience Different Feelings While Becoming Sober[23:19] The Process of Diminishing Returns[25:09] Habituation to Our Former Devotion[26:57] Monkey Traps[28:24] Addiction Makes You Lose Your Freedom[29:39] Your Problems Are Forgotten[30:54] Letting Go Through Vedic Meditation[31:45] A Pleasure Greater Than Any AddictionUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoles/https://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoles https://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/

On today's episode of Let's Grow Together, I talk with high performance fitness and life coach Tommy McCollister where he shares how to set your mind up for success. Tommy McCollister was achieving all he could imagine or want, but it wasn’t enough... What he didn’t know was, it never would be. With lots of free time, all his financial needs met, an amazing wife and two awesome kids. Yet, he was numb. No passion, No purpose, depression and anxiety filled his days. It didn’t matter that he had become a top ranked BMX bicycle racer on the national circuit, performed music alongside major artists, developed a shredded muscular physique, and worked as a successful coach of high level athletes and body composition clients. He thought to himself, “There HAS to be more to life than this!” That was the EXACT thought that changed the whole course of his life!! Tommy took his overachiever attitude that he had for “selfish” goals and started splitting that up amongst the things that ULTIMATELY mattered. Tommy and his wife Dianne made BOLD move after BOLD move, which ultimately led to them launching their Coaching Business! Since then they have helped countless people transform their lives and accomplish things they feared they never would!! Their mission is to help driven men and women find the balance and the body to match the business, while being at peace with themselves!!! Zebb Quin was an 18 year old guy who was just saving up for a new(er) car to ring in the millennium. He worked at the local Walmart in Asheville, NC when he went missing on January 2, 2000. The only people who had motive for his disappearance, conveniently have an alibi... but is it a solid one?? There HAS been an arrest in the case, but is it the right one? There are SO many unanswered questioned and loose ends that need to be tied. This week Pastor Gary invites us to experience the empowering freedom that comes from loving our enemies. Sunday, September 27, 2020 Audio: Sermon Video: The post There Has to Be a Better Way than Hate appeared first on Church Without Walls.
There Has to Be an End to It Someday thru the torture that this land is going thru The going is tough. But we know, when the going gets tough, the tough get going, Who’s with me … right? It’s an American trademark. I wasn’t around for the race riots in the mid-60s, but I have seen the video. Today reminds me of that. The Songs, Stories & Shenanigans Podcast5: Antiracist got such a response; I can’t help but being thrilled by the discussions and the real change I think, I hope, I pray, has started. We have seen that people can deal with most anything, expected or not. There are only two things people really hate – change, and staying the same. Change is hard, but, he ain’t heavy, he’s my brother – at least many faiths believe that. So, has the belief translated to action? History in America would say no, but so many of us are not willing to give up on what God aspires us to do; we want to write our own history that lives on the example of love thy neighbor. I’m not holding the sins of the father against the son, demanding retribution to those inflicting the most damage or euthanasia, as they did to my Irish ancestors. Perhaps I bear no blame for the situation, the dire straits big and small, my Black neighbor is faced with every day, all of their life. But I can still choose to recognize the very, very obvious, prevalent and systemic injustice in our country, and community. It happened to me. I can still choose to change the path less travelled, for equal treatment to all humans – not just to white, male, heterosexual, Christian, American, living above poverty level, with no disability or preexisting condition Americans. I choose to not leave THAT legacy to my children, the children of God, all over the world. We live precariously, in a world beset by violence, by anger and by hurt. Walking our path on a planet dying for healing too. I choose to not only see, but to act. I hope you see that too, and will join me in living for others. The world is reopening, for good or for bad, we don’t yet know. I hope the only resurgence we see is the one I have been writing about for a very long time. One of, Love Thy Neighbor. It is what we are commanded to do. All the ills and strife can be overcome with a pandemic of love and respect for a fellow human being, nothing more, nothing less, designed by God, and therefore loved beyond measure. He doesn’t make mistakes, y’know. But we do. It will be tough, a long battle of ebb and flow – stamina and insight and dedication and collaboration, and looking beyond ourselves, our own accumulation of riches, whatever they may be. Someone else getting something, doesn’t leave less for us – it’s not pie. Clearly, what we have been doing so far, has no reason for recommendation or recall. It has failed, failed utterly. We cannot bury our head in the hope the pain of injustice will just go away. It hasn’t, it won’t. Only different actions will get different results. Words can inspire, Actions lead to the change any child of God can see is right. Our children deserve that too. On This Day in Irish History: 19 July 2009 - Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Angela’s Ashes, died in New York, 21 July 1860 - Chauncy Oliatt, Irish balladeer and author of My Wild Irish Rose was born 26 July 1856 - George Bernard Shaw, playwright and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature was born in Dublin. 29 July 1883 - James Carey, a member of the Invincibles, informs on five of his associates, who are hanged for the Phoenix Park Murders. Carey is followed to South Africa by Patrick O’Donnell and shot dead en route. So, What’s been going on behind the scenes? We came oh so close to printing in July, but with so many still tamped down by COVID, we decided a few thousand dollars loss again this month is better than a 5 figure one. We couldn’t print the issue, so, as we did in April, May & June, we put the interactive edition of the July issue online. Click on any advertiser’s ad, and you will go directly to their website. We did not charge any advertiser again this month. July stories include An Irish language lesson, Irish Sports update, our Cleveland, Akron, Columbus and Toledo Irish columns, and opinion pieces from the US and Ireland. Plus, we have book reviews, an Irish crossword puzzle, Jokes, Games and stories for the kids, and so much more. Also check out a few of the really great stories, past and present, that are lodged in our online library, where all of our issues are interactive, and archived, since we started, 14 years ago. Now I don’t like anyone leaving our website, with the tons of content housed there, but helping our advertisers is always my goal. Click on those ads and order food, merch, a gift card … whatever you need, and start this rebound a rollin’! Cleveland Irish columnist Francis McGarry wrote another wonderful column on the evolution of a police force, and of plea bargains. You can check out the full column on our OhioIANews website, but it starts like this: Cleveland Irish: Shillelagh Law, Part 2 By Francis McGarry The history of the modern police force does not begin in the Americas, nor in Britain. It begins in Ireland in 1814, with the passing of the Irish Peace Preservation Force Act. Robert Peel was its catalyst and was the Irish Secretary at the time. He arrived in Ireland in 1812 when the local police were grossly ineffective, which left the policing to the military. British participation in the Napoleonic Wars depleted many of those fellows and many soldier-police stations were abandoned. Regardless of numbers, the military made very inefficient police and were extremely brutal when clashing with Irish citizens, only adding to the unrest. The Plea Bargain The English would pardon or commute a sentence on occasion. It took America and quite a few Irish to introduce the plea bargain to global legal history. Prior to 1830, guilty pleas were not common in American or British history. In fact, prior to 1830, 10% to 15% or all convictions in lower courts in the US were a result of a guilty plea. The plea bargain was first utilized in Boston. In the 1830s, 15% of cases were plea bargained. In the 1840s, almost 30%; in the 1850s, over 50%; in the 1860s, nearly 60%; and in the 1880s, 88% of all cases in lower courts were plea bargained. In cities like Boston and New York in the 19th century, this meant that there were Irish on both sides of the deal. The Irish in New York City in 1860 accounted for half the total number of arrests and half the total members of the police force. We’ll stop there, to leave a fair bit for you to enjoy with a nice pot of Barry’s or a drop of the pure, wherever you choose to enjoy them. Dubbed “the rising star of literary Houston” (Literary Hub), Bryan Washington is a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Recipient, the recipient of an Ernest J. Gaines Award, and the recipient of an O. Henry Award. His stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, Vulture, The Paris Review, Tin House, One Story, GQ, among others. Lot, Washington’s critically-acclaimed first collection of linked short stories, was released in 2019. Set in Houston – a sprawling, diverse microcosm of America – the book traces the coming-of-age of a young man growing up Black, Latino and gay. Lot captures Houston’s culturally-rich yet gritty urban landscape, revealing the vulnerable existence of communities living under the shadow of poverty and violence with raw power and tenderness. Offering rare insight into what makes a community, a family, and a life, Lot explores trust and love in all its unsparing and unsteady forms. Adnan Khan has written for VICE, The Globe and Mail, and Hazlitt. He has been nominated for a National Magazine Award and in 2016 won the RBC Taylor Emerging Writer Award. There Has to Be a Knife (2019) is his first novel. https://kofflerarts.org/Events/Books-Ideas/Bryan-Washington
After a tough start, we’ve got into our stride on the Sahara Expedition. There HAS been strife though. Our male camels are all hot under the saddle because it is mating season and we have been passing through Sagiyya Al Hamra which has a nomad population with lots of female camels. Check out my Instagram @aliceoutthere1 for pictures. I got to take a break from the camels’ (lack of) sex problems though to explore the incredibly rich prehistoric rock carvings around the desert capital of Smara. It’s amazing to be able to discover these millennia old traces of human life for yourself hidden in the sands.
GREETINGS FROM MARGATE!Welcome to episode 10 of Buddy’s Buddies! You’re doing good. I’m doing good. LET’S GO!THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING this podcast get together. Your presence is gratefully appreciated. Or is it ‘graciously’? Never fully figured that out. In any regard, bigup yerselves and thanks for listening! Ladies and gentlemen, let me ask you a question. What you know about the Tom Thumb Theatre? Hmm? OH REALLY?!? Well prepare to know MUCH MORE about it, because here is a proper nice chat with the owners themselves - or as they would call themselves, ‘Custodians’. I love that. And as you’ll hear, this humble but extremely proud Margate treasure of a venue is full of nothing but great vibes from the main room to the bar. I’m happy to say I’ve seen a good few shows here, even DJ’d there a while back, and it’s just great - the interior decor is perfect, and the size and intimacy is just impossible not to fall in love with. If you haven’t been and you’re headed down this way, oh by gawd you MUST come through and visit. We get into tons here, including the backgrounds of Alex and Sara and their origin stories, the path to becoming the custodians, theatre in general, the spirit of the building and the history, audiences, age groups, help along the way and where things can go from here. It’s a true treat and you’ll love em - such great people and I’m so happy to have talked to them both in the middle of the theatre room itself! There HAS to be better name than ‘theatre room’. Maybe just ‘theatre’ would suffice. Okay let me ponder on that while you listen - OH - important news too about the podcast enclosed within! Basically this episode wraps up season 1 of the podcast, but I’ll back early new year with a ton more goodness - this way everyone gets a breather, and a chance to catch up. I think this will work nicely, and we’ll pick things up again in very early 2020 okay? It’ll be worth it, I promise. There’s a LOT of good stuff going on… Huge love for every minute listened y’all, thank you incredibly - updates will happen so keep checking in! Sometimes, we spend so much time trying to think through a problem that we just get stuck. Our minds tend to spiral on the same thoughts over and over... not really giving any new information or help. "What should I do?" is usually followed by an almost endless loop of "What should I do?" Or worse yet, we take action, but then realize that our thinking was more limited than we thought. There HAS to be a better way, right? According to Greg Lee and Antonia Van Becker, there is! We just have to shift from listening to our thoughts. It is not shifting to listen to someone else... not a friend, spouse, relative, or even a therapist or coach (OK, you may want to consult with someone else, but that is not the only place). So, where do you turn? As it turns out, not too far from your mind. Just a bit, ummm, down. To your body. Let me freely admit that for lots of years, I chose to NOT listen to my body. I lived from the neck, up. It would seem that one day, my body decided to get my attention. And let's just say that the resulting mess was painful and scary. But my body got my attention! Even if I didn't know how to listen at that moment, I knew I needed to pay attention to it. Greg and Antonia take it much further. They suggest you can even ask your body for guidance... and your body will, well, guide you. In this episode of the podcast, Antonia and Greg share what it means to "listen to your body." And they share 6 steps to follow when you hit a tipping point in your day (or your life). Listen below! Nothing Human. The real Crell Moset may have been a 24th-century Cardassian Dr. Mengele, but his holographic representation was always such a nice guy in the fifth-season Voyagerepisode "Nothing Human." In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Suzanne Williamson and Zachary Fruhling discuss the pros and cons of using Crell Moset's morally questionable medical research, and the possibly tainted medical knowledge it produced, to save the life of B'Elanna Torres against her own wishes. Are you feeling balanced, on purpose, and full of joy? Even the most joyful among us would probably admit that we can stand a little help in this area. You are going to enjoy my conversation today with an amazing transformational healer with whom I share an affinity for the world of energy and healing. She is changing lives and sharing her secret as she speaks authentically from the heart. Nancy Clairmont Carr is a transformational expert, energy healer, speaker, and entrepreneur. She empowers change-seekers to manifest intentions quickly and with less effort. She helps remove limiting beliefs, success blocks, and other obstacles preventing goal achievement. Nancy helps individuals reach higher consciousness and access their personal power for more internal alignment. Over the last 20 years, she has helped her clients create more joy, abundance, and freedom. Her career includes business leadership, lifestyle coaching, and energy healing. After a successful marketing career and coaching business with an MBA in multiple energy healing certifications, she founded The Joy-Effect, a holistic transformation coaching business for achievers, which includes everyone who wants to transform health, finances, and relationships. Don’t we all want more joy in our lives? You don’t want to miss hearing from Nancy! Show highlights: As an admitted “self-help junkie,” Nancy’s interest in energy work led her to leave the corporate world, thinking, “There HAS to be a better way.” She has combined her work with Nikken wellness technology products and her love of energy coaching, and she couldn’t be happier. She is helping people, changing lives, and making money—even though that isn’t her primary purpose. Nancy says that she has “the secret” and she wants to share it! She approaches every day wondering what she is going to learn and whose life she is going to change. Do you face each day with THAT kind of passion and purpose? Nancy had to overcome her own #1 limiting belief, which was that she had to do it all herself. Her top two sales strategies have become how to scale her business and how to use speaking engagements to grow her business. She has learned to speak authentically from the heart, with her truth. In her personal transformation work with clients, she teaches surrender, how to clear obstacles, and how to shift beliefs with energy healing. Some of her clients have seen major breakthroughs due to Nancy’s transformational coaching. Nancy says, “Your desire to serve has to be larger than your fear.” Resources: www.nancyclairmontcarr.com Find out about Nancy’s FREE Energy Coaching Strategy Session, her Quantum Manifesting program, and her Joy3 ebook! Doug- @DJDoug Strickland- @NiceGuyonBiz "Greatness is a mindset and it is within every single one of you. So seize the fucking day and make it great" Liz Corah Liz Corah was running an event centered around brain health/Alzheimer's research. At this event, Liz blacked out/had a seizure and found out she had a brain tumor. Here are some of her thoughts that you'll hear on the Nice Guys today: There was never a fear there, the mindset was to hit the ground running. This tumor has allowed me to become a face for "Move for Minds." Your body whispers to you, "I am tired." And we ignore it. There HAS to be a work life balance. The balance helps to uplift the business side of the balance. It is very easy to get to a place where you want to give up. You are never given anything that you cannot handle. If I can help others see that the little shit in their life does not matter by sharing my story, then that is going to be an inspiration. Say to yourself, "This too shall pass." "There is always a chapter in your life that will enhance a coming chapter in your life." Welcome! My guest today is Elaine De Santos, who struggled with health issues with her family until they took the steps to get healthy together. She is committed to helping families make the changes to get healthy. Elaine created an online meal planning tool with delicious, chef-created recipes that take 30 minutes or less to prepare. The ingredients are easy to find and recipes can be adjusted according to serving sizes. Her website can help you create shopping lists, too. Check out the Resource section below for more information! Elaine shares the following about her journey: Elaine’s family (husband and two young children) was full of health issues, including coughs, congestion, breathing issues, eczema, and migraines. Elaine’s wake-up call came one morning when intense pain prevented her from getting out of bed. The problem? Shingles! “There HAS to be a better way!” Elaine found a local MD who practiced integrative medicine and began listening to podcasts and radio shows for more information. Her husband’s migraines worsened to the point of having vision problems also; Elaine decided the family needed to learn to eat better. The first major change was to go Gluten-Free, even though Elaine didn’t join in until later. Her husband and children saw immediate improvement when gluten was eliminated. The family decided to stick with a Paleo-style diet, focusing on clean, lean meats and healthy vegetables and fats. Even though they did use some GF processed food substitutes in the beginning, as a “bridge” to this new system of eating, Elaine doesn’t recommend those GF products for the long term because of the added sugar. The family slowly transitioned to real, whole food and eliminated processed foods altogether. Elaine went on to become a certified transformational nutrition coach. Her top tips for improved nutrition? Have a PLAN that you can trust. Eat seasonally and local, wherever you live. “Batch-cook” on the weekends. Keep meals in the freezer for those busy weeknights. Chop and prepare fresh veggies ahead of time. Use a slow cooker.
