Hi, listen to the episode. You will laugh. Hopefully.    Did you know that Feudal Japan was a period of history in Japanese? Many people think that "feudal" is the same thing as "futile"; it is, in fact, not even remotely close to the same. Feudal Japan refers to a period in Japanese history, roughly the 12th to 19th century. This is when the government was largely run by a system of military rule and land-based hierarchy similar to medieval Europe. There was an Emperor who really had no power and acted mainly as a figurehead, a Shogun, who had most of the military and political power, and the Daimyo, who were rich landlords, who were powerful enough to have their own armies. This was the time of Samurai, Shinobi(basically ninjas), and all the other crazy stereotypical Japanese things we see from movies and TV. This period lasted from around 1185 to 1868 and really only lasted because Japan was so closed off from the rest of the world. The end came about because the emperor regained power and then opened Japan up to the rest of the world. Also, crazy that around 60 years later, they wanted to kill everyone, or mostly everyone at least. HAHA!! Thank you for reading!! Oh, and listening, but that's secondary.    Email: hotcrossbunspod@gmail.com Instagram/TikTok: @hotcrossbunspod

Based on 1570's Feudal Japan, this historical epic was a masterpiece of its time. Akira Kurosawa was near the end of his career, and hadn't made a film in some time, but this was his valiant return with the Film Kagemusha: the Shadow Warrior. The film almost never seen the light of day if it weren't for the Western counterparts to cover the remaining budget and distribution.Based on the true events Takeda Shingen and his clan, this film delves into the historical aspects of the era and the politic behind it. The famous warlord dies to an assassin of one of the competing factions, but one of his last requests was to keep the appearance that he was alive for the sake of the clan. The top generals of this clan seek out a shadow warrior or counterfeit Shingen to play the roll of the warlord. Many competing clans are fighting for power, and suspect he may be dead, but are unable to say for certain.Directed by Akira Kurosawa, with George Lucas, and Francis Ford Coppola and starring Tatsuya Nakadai.

Hey Strangers, #assassinscreed #japan #fact In Japan, a Change.org petition has surfaced to ban Assassin's Creed Shadows. It has now been a fair few weeks since Ubisoft lifted the lid on this year's Assassin's Creed title, announcing a dual protagonist adventure set in Feudal Japan – a setting that fans have been desperate to experience for many years. However, Japanese fans of the franchise were quick to voice their disappointment and concern about the game, with the most extreme claims suggesting that Ubisoft is floating racism and severe historical inaccuracy in Shadows, which is set to be released in November. ======================================= I had to Make a playlist for this lol https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPn9z2zi8y0ZDNRGzJtPin2V-Ad2K_3bl ************************************************** My other podcast https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKpvBEElSl1dD72Y5gtepkw ************************************************** article links: Please respect the creator and his work SHOHEI KONDO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ5_gjUWfTE https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/racism https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/company/careers/locations/tokyo/ubisoft-japan https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/1cyrl7q/lgbtq_has_been_in_odyssey_valhalla_why_is_it_an/ https://www.thepinknews.com/2024/05/24/assassins-creed-shadows-lgbtq/ https://forums.escapistmagazine.com/threads/ubisofts-assassins-creed-opening-disclaimer-change-is-bizarre.137914/ https://www.thegamer.com/assassins-creed-shadows-yasuke-character-history-racism-woke/ https://celadonbooks.com/what-is-historical-fiction/ https://time.com/6039381/yasuke-black-samurai-true-story/ https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/who-was-yasuke-japans-first-black-samurai-180981416/ https://thejapanbox.com/blogs/japanese-samurai/harada-sanosuke https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/8eg41r/what_would_happen_if_a_samurai_refused_to_commit/ https://www.quora.com/Were-there-any-cases-where-a-Samurai-did-not-commit-Seppuku-or-did-not-want-to-commit-Seppuku-after-a-defeat#:~:text=The%20founder%20of%20the%20swordsmanship,in%20order%20to%20avoid%20bloodshed. https://ihj.global/en/experts/ https://www.reddit.com/user/Current_Swan2791/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Samurai_Champloo https://www.ign.com/articles/tekken-8-director-responds-to-the-many-fans-asking-for-a-waffle-house-level https://www.reddit.com/r/Animesuggest/comments/18ymjbz/anime_to_watch_if_ure_interested_in_hip_hop/ https://mai-ko.com/travel/culture-in-japan/japanese-culture-1/#:~:text=Samurai%20means%20%E2%80%9Cthe%20one%20who,samurai%20and%20avoid%20eye%2Dcontact. ====================================== Today is for push-ups and Programming and I am all done doing push-ups Discord https://discord.gg/MYvNgYYFxq TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@strangestcoder Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@codingwithstrangers Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/CodingWithStrangers Twitter https://twitter.com/strangestcoder merch Support CodingWithStrangers IRL by purchasing some merch. In what took way longer than it should have, Ubisoft is FINALLY taking The Assassins and Templars' Secret War to Feudal Japan in ASSASSIN'S CREED SHADOWS that caused some issues with fans with their Historical Character that existed in history with Oda Nobunaga's Retainer, Yasuke, being one of the two main characters while ignoring the fictional female native Japanese character that plays the Assassin because reasons. It's that time of year again, and CALL OF DUTY is making the rounds, this time returning to the world of Black Ops with BLACK OPS 6, this time taking us to the early-90s into the GULF WAR and if leaks and promotional material is suggest, we'll be heading into the early 2000s, more specifically, 2001. Nerd Legion returns to review the new FX television miniseries Shogun, which can be found streaming on Hulu. Based on James' Clavell's 1975 novel and previously filmed in 1980, the new version by creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo provides a spectacular period drama set in feudal Japan. The level of attention to detail in the sets, costumes, and historical accuracy lends the weight of authenticity and pomp befitting of a drama between feudal lords in the 1600s. While outside of Nerd Legion's normal purview of science fiction and fantasy, we heartily recommend Shogun to our fans as an alternate take on Japanese history. Toranaga's machinations are fascinating to follow and we can't wait to watch the rest of the show!

There is a term in Japan: kensei. Sword Saints. The peerless warriors bestowed with this honorific title were such hardcore blade-swinging warriors that they were actually believed to have possessed otherworldly abilities with their weapon of choice. Fierce fighters, perfectly-tuned machines who had ascended to a plane where they had become one with the sword. Their movements were precise, their reactions instinctive, their form as flawless and graceful as it was deadly. At the forefront of this pantheon of warrior-gods stands one legendary man: Miyamoto Musashi.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
