Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris bring you this month's Alphabet Soup-er Series! It was Kris's pick for the letter U and he went with UN Squadron for Super NES. This classic Capcom shoot em up was quite different from its arcade counterpart, and is often cited as one of the best Super NES games around. Does it live up to its reputation? Let's find out! Then, in Week Old News, Activision delivers some grimy AI slop, but also gives the world more old Tony Hawk games. Plus, Acclaim is apparently back, Nintendo Switch Online gets one of the best games ever made, Suikoden comes to mobile phones, and more! Finally, Dan still can't really play as many games as he wants, and Kris has had a headache for the last 3 weeks. But Paper Mario is great, as is the new Daredevil show! Enjoy! Games besproken: Tekken gamereeks, Eliminate Down, Power Stone, Judge Dredd, UN Squadron, Stellar Blade, Darq, Scramble, Shinobi (PS2), Rule of Rose, Double Dragon games, James Cameron's Avatar games.

Hey everyone. Welcome to another episode of SNEScapades. We're talking shooters today. Oh, and I guess Drakkhen's here too. The early days of the SNES had plenty of shm'ups to play. Chase and Emmy were a little less kind to Gradius III than they were the first time they encountered it due to all of its slowdown. Today they're talking about Super R-Type, which is a similar kind of shooter with classic arcade roots. Will it drop in the ranks like its contemporary or will it stay its original charted course? Hell, will they actually like it more? Who's to say? Well, they are, but you have to listen to the episode to find out. Drakkhen is a strange game in the SNES library. It was rewarded for its uniqueness the first time around but Chase and Emmy's opinion on the game sullied a bit over time. Find out where this strange RPG ultimately ends up. And finally, we've got a re-review of UN Squadron, a Capcom shooter that Emmy and Chase have thought highly of in the past. Listen to find out if they still hold it in such high regard on this episode of SNEScapades!
Rumoreh, rumoreh... En Made in Japan: ¡State of Play! Overzicht benoemde mediaGames benoemd in de intocht: UFC games, Star Wars, Rogue Squadron, A Plague Tale, Guardians of the GalaxyMedia benoemd in de intocht: Skinamarink (2022), The Last of Us tv serie, The Peripheral (Klaas: The Periphal), Dollhouse, het werk van Junji Ito, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent en nog een paar Nicolas Cage films.

Sometimes I just get confused when it comes to localization decisions. Why can't we get the manga license with our games? Did they think we wouldn't like a plane based shooter because it had a comic with it that we didn't recognize? Good thing that I have Steampunk Link and Emmy Zero from SNEScapades here to help straighten things up. Listen in as we try to solve this and other mysterious aspects of this early SNES era gem. Learn such things as: Why can't games based on rather obscure manga just keep their name when the game comes out in the US? Do we really need a backstory when the game itself is so simple and quite frankly rather self explanatory? Does the Mega Man release schedule make sense to anyone? And so much more! This super sized episode of RPGrinders features the return of Break, tons of RPG news, 2 more rounds of the hardest tournament ever created, and not one but two questions for #DearBreakMan! 2021 is starting to look like a fantastic year to be a gamer. New games like Bravery Network Online and Empire of Ember are coming to Steam. The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD remaster is coming to the Switch on July 16th. Legend of Mana is releasing on June 24th. And the poorly named but interesting looking tactical RPG "Project Triangle Strategy" has been announced for the Switch. Dear BreakMan returns with 2 of the most important questions facing humanity at this time. The Grinders explain how to handle the death of a child's pet and they address the controversy around wearing "White Face". This episode was one of the longest because of the most epic battle in the history of humanity! Sixteen SNES games are left but only one can be considered The Greatest Super Nintendo Game of All Time. Will the pastel levels of Super Mario World 2 with stand the firepower of UN Squadron? Will the Zombies eat all the neighbors or will Kirby? Can NBA Jam boomshakalaka Link? Can 3 Vikings stop a plumber riding on the back of a dinosaur? Only 8 games are left. Who will win?! Flesh tone condoms for everyone!
We talk a lot about the history of a popular manga series in Japan, a long-running Japanese TV superhero, an arcade classic, and an old tabletop game about football. We discuss a lot of things that happened in the 80s! And I guess we talk about some Super NES games as well.
Jason Arriola and Dominic Chavez take a listen to the SNES version of U.N. Squadron and the arcade version of Area 88. They’re effectively the same game, but with different hardware comes different sounds, so we do some comparisons as well as listen to some individual tracks.
