Sonic's journey from video game to blockbuster film should have been straightforward. From Sega's fierce rivalry with Nintendo, to the chaotic path of bringing Sonic to life on the big screen, there are more twists and turns in this story than Green Hill Zone.Sega's quest for a mascot that could rival Mario led to the creation of Sonic the Hedgehog, but several attempts to make a movie fell at the first, second, third and fourth hurdles. Finally, after Sony put their project into turnaround, Paramount Pictures sped in and Sonic's new design was finally launched! The muscular legs, the fur, the gloveless hands, the human teeth! The fan criticism and backlash to Sonic's design was unprecedented, but so was what happened next...The uproar from fans was the catalyst for a superfast redesign, that not only respected the character's legacy, but made him relatable to new audiences. Sonic's evolution and the importance of fan engagement shaped the movie, leading it to become a beloved franchise. God bless Ugly Sonic!Ken Pender's pitch for Sonic ArmageddonI would love to hear your thoughts on Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! I won the Best Movie Podcast in the inaugural Ear Worthy Independent Podcast Awards recently. I am beyond thrilled, and hugely grateful to the Ear Worthy team. I know what you are thinking… Pooh vs Bambi? Who would even attempt to write a book like that... Noah Mitchell that's who! And you know what… we think he knocked it out of the park. Based on the title, we agree it shouldn't work, but boy howdy does it. Join Mendte, Mashko, and Features as they sit down with Noah to talk about how he and the team at Zenescope were able to take such a ridiculous concept and make it fit right in with the likes of Street Sharks, Swat Cats, or any other anthropomorphized Saturday morning cartoons that raised a lot of us… only with a hard R. Noah then joins the guys for a breakdown on the Thunderbolts trailer, and trip down Green Hill Zone to talk Sonic, then a ton of comic reviews. Ultimate Spiderman and Wolverine Revenge led the back, but we also had Biker Mice from Mars, Power Rangers and Usage Yojumbo, Dick Tracy, and so many more. So tune in, head to your shop, ask for Pooh vs. Bambi, and That's That!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/that-comic-podcast--5896499/support.

Overzicht benoemde mediaGames benoemd in de intocht: UFC games, Star Wars, Rogue Squadron, A Plague Tale, Guardians of the GalaxyMedia benoemd in de intocht: Skinamarink (2022), The Last of Us tv serie, The Peripheral (Klaas: The Periphal), Dollhouse, het werk van Junji Ito, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent en nog een paar Nicolas Cage films.Games benoemd en met muziek samples in de veldslag: Gradius Interstellar Assault, UN Squadron, Mega Man X3, Starfox/Starwing, Scrapyard Dog, Paperboy, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest, Streets of Rage 2, Turrican 2, Super Mario Land 2, Treasure of the Usas, Metal Gear, Green Hill Zone, Thunder Force 3, Super Castlevania IV, Batman (NES).

After an eight-month wait since the game's original announcement, fans are finally given a release date for SEGA's Sonic Frontiers. Now scheduled for launch in November, the company dropped a new story trailer during Gamescom offering players a first look at what the game's plot would entail. A lot of its context and premise have been kept under wraps for now in light of the animated prologue with Knuckles, but we do get an introduction of some of Sonic's main foes in the new open-world experience as well as a glimpse of his mission, which seems to be saving his captured friends, including Amy Rose. Aside from a closer look at the story, the trailer also showcases a few clips of its gameplay, and it's very much what you'd expect from a 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game. Aside from exploring a vast open world at super speed, there'll also be nods to previous installments via 2D platforming and grind rails making a comeback. Iconic locations like Green Hill Zone and Sky Sanctuary will also be available. For the Sonic fans out there, Sonic Frontiers will arrive on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC November 8. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

This week, in honor of the new Sonic movie hitting theatres this weekend, we're doing a deep dive on the blue blur himself: the hog, the myth, the legend– Sonic the Hedgehog! It's Sonic! The cool blue hedgehog who runs fast and loves chili dogs! You know the guy! In this episode we discuss the loveable blue guy's origin, our first exposure to this gaming icon, and discuss his history as a gaming cultural figure over the years. Plus we get into how the Sonic fandom has made their own queer spaces around the character, from the creation of Sonic OCs (original characters) on DeviantArt to fan games that range from the bizarre (Sonic Dreams Collection) to total love-letters to the franchise (Sonic Mania). ========Be Our Friends!!EMAIL US at gayforplaypodcast@gmail.comFOLLOW G4P Twitter: @GayForPlayPodInstagram: @GayForPlayPodTwitch: twitch.tv/gayforplaypodSupport the Show on PATREON========CREDITSIntro and outro music by Connor Marsh (@connorjmarshmallow)Show art by Nick Adams (@nickadams.art)Special thanks to our patrons: Blueberri Mary, Elijah Punzal, Trevor McTavish & Martha Turner

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Riot Games, the company behind such games as League of Legends and Valorant, will pay out a total of $100 million - including an $80 million settlement, plus an additional $20 million in fees and expenses - after reaching a global settlement agreement with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), and several private Plaintiffs to resolve its gender discrimination lawsuit from 2018. As per the agreement, Riot will pay $80 million to all current and former full-time employees and temporary agency contractors in California who identify as women and worked at the company from November 2014 to the present day. The other $20 million will go towards "attorneys' fees and miscellaneous expenses." Remedy Entertainment, the company behind Control and Alan Wake, has signed a global development, license, and distribution agreement with Tencent for a new co-operative multiplayer game that is currently codenamed Vanguard. Announced by Remedy, Vanguard - which should obviously not be confused for Call of Duty: Vanguard - will be a "free-to-play, co-operative PvE shooter that combines Remedy's narrative expertise and action gameplay into an immersive multiplayer experience." The LEGO Group has not only officially unveiled the LEGO Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone Set, but it has also announced that it will be available for purchase on January 1, 2022, for $69.99 USD. Green Hill Zone, which has become one of the most iconic levels in gaming since its debut in the original Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991 for SEGA Genesis, is getting the LEGO treatment thanks to the 24-year-old Viv Grannell. The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe cock circles. We also touch upon crop circles, sure, including their devilish origin and advancement through the years but you know why we really covered this topic. Big. Meaty. Cock circles. But how do these shapes in fields of crop come to be? Is their explanation extraterrestrial or is something more human at play? Along the way we learn what G would tag on an alien planet to show he'd been there (you'll never guess)… We also stumble upon evidence that children's television host Neil Buchanan may be an alien. We do examine a fair bit of visual evidence in this one so if you'd like to see what we are referring to, do check out our Instagram linked later in these notes. Meanwhile Moonwalker stoops to a new low in life as he googles the girlfriend of a certain horny hedgehog. Oh and Greybeard and Moonwalker are rudely interrupted by Greybeard's mysterious delivery at the end of the episode… All that and more on this week's file. Additional music via: https://freepd.com - thank you most kindly good people. You may also have heard the theme to 1990's/early 2000's children's television show Art Attack, hosted by Neil Buchanan. The theme is reported via Wikipedia to have been by Mr Miller and Mr Porter (whom sound suspiciously like MiB's) so thank you chaps. Also making an appearance was the theme to another tune from this era - Fun House hosted by Pat Sharp and announced by Gary King. The theme was composed by David Pringle and Bob Heatlie. Richard Wagner's Bridal Chrous may have also made an appearance when Moonwalker proposed to Greybeard live on the podcast. Finally, we couldn't cover Sonic the Hedgehog's interesting love life without throwing in the intro and Green Hill Zone themes from the 1991 original video game. This was composed by Masato Nakamura. Thank you for your wonderful work.

What's up, gamers? We're a little late this week due to our own scheduling issues, but better late than never! Don't worry. We'll be back to our regular schedule going forward. We recorded Saturday evening, so some information in this episode may be out of date. This week, join me (Glenn Gordon), Ben Shillabeer-Hall, and Fraser Miller as we address some criticism from a longtime listener. We explain our positions on different points of contention, and would like to invite anyone who can further elaborate on this criticism or has other criticism to tweet us @TheRDGH or send us an email at podcast@psu.com. We want to be the best RDGH we can be! Just keep it constructive. RDGH figured that Titanfall should not have been made exclusive to Xbox One. We also complained about the exclusivity of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Contrarily, we told Xbox One gamers to suck it up with regard to the exclusive content on Destiny. Sounds unfair to us said that way, but there's much more to that story. We've also repeatedly called IGN out for certain unreliable content, yet continue to cite IGN as a source. What's up with that? Then, of course, the burning question: Do RDGH's crew members like sunlight? We don't want to leave things on a critical note, so Ben spills the details about a Final Fantasy event that occurred in London. Look for FF14 updates! If you want an Xbox One, now is the time! There is a great deal going around that we discuss, as well as Xbox One's November update, which supports backgrounds. Also, Forza Horizon 2 has been very successful so far, driving Xbox One sales up. Also, Ubisoft has confirmed that The Division, its upcoming first-person shooter, will run in full 1080p resolution on PlayStation 4, regardless of its maximum capability on Xbox One. Finally, Ubisoft! Finally, the Evolve Alpha is this weekend, and everyone should get involved. It's free--all you have to do is get selected. Our intro this week is I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow. Buy this classic hit on iTunes and Amazon if you haven't already! For our ending this week, we're happy to bring you "The Sound of Speed," a remix of Green Hill Zone by OA and Scaredsim on Overclocked Remix. We used a part of the song a couple episodes ago, and loved it enough that we thought you should hear the whole thing. Enjoy it at the end of the episode, and head to OCremix.org to download it and many other great video game music remixes in full, for free. If you like The Sound of Speed, go to sos.ocremix.org to check out the full album of Sonic remixes by the same name. All this and more comprises another great episode of RDGH! Tune in next week for episode 40, and don't be a racist.
What's up, gamers? The most racially diverse gaming podcast on the Internet returns this week to shun discrimination against gaming consoles for the colors of their branding. There's lots to talk about, and host Glenn Gordon joins Dane Smith and Garri Bagdasarov with a packed and very interesting episode. First off, a tweet from a regular listener sparks debate about the resolution issues between PS4 and Xbox One. Is 900p resolution really such a big deal? Glenn certainly thinks not. PlayStation Network has been going down every now and then over the past few months with little explanation. We know Sony is discussing making an investment in PSN to make it stronger, but until then, what should gamers expect? Is it worth joining PlayStation Plus? What would gamers be willing to sacrifice (hypothetically, of course) for a stronger PSN? Xbox has had an interesting week as well. It's the first eighth-generation console to get a native Plex app, the Sunset Overdrive bundle got a short-lived price drop on Amazon UK, and Microsoft may finally be ready to "rethink" the controversial ID@Xbox parity clause. The crew takes a look at the parity clause and the effect it has had on Xbox and PlayStation so far. Speaking of parity, gamers became upset for awhile after learning (temporarily) that Dragon Age: Inquisition would run at a 900p resolution on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The response was alarmingly huge, and the crew thinks it really didn't need to be. Then, of course, there's DRIVECLUB. It's a great racing game, but it has stirred a lot of unnecessary controversy in recent weeks, and with it having one of the worst launches in recent PlayStation history, it has little to defend itself with. Even so, we think DRIVECLUB is worth a gamer's chance. #BelieveinEvo Our intro this week is from OverClocked Remix. It's a remix of the background music from Green Hill Zone in the original Sonic the Hedgehog, and it's called "The Sound of Speed." The remixers are OA and Scaredsim, and they did an amazing job. It's definitely worth a listen, and you can hear and download the full song and many more amazing gaming remixes in full, for free, at OCremix.org. The ending music, of course, is the famous theme from the movie "Rocky." All of this and more comprises a great episode of RDGH. Remember to follow us on Twitter @TheRDGH, and give us your tweets and topics to read and discuss on the air. Enjoy the podcast, and don't be a racist.
