We're back again! This week, we're reacting to the trailer for 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and trying to predict where this film is going to take the MCU. Then, we express our anxieties about the looming release dates of some blockbuster movies, and whether or not they will be pushed back. On the music corner, after a brief conversation regarding our frustration with the arc of Kanye's career, we move on to discuss the good and bad of big recent pop albums from Lorde and Halsey. Thank you for listening!
Hello hello, and welcome to episode 17 of Life on the Brink! This week I am joined once again by our first-ever returning guest, my sister Sarah, to talk about our favorite movies to watch during the winter season. You may recall our shenanigans in Episode 7 when we discussed our favorite autumnal films, and now we're back with a (much needed, eclectic and cozy) winter edition! This is the time to bundle up on the couch with a hearty meal or big bowl of popcorn and enjoy being inside where it’s warm. This is also the time of year when we’re more likely to indulge in a more cerebral, serious movie, but not without countering it with cozy happy films (at least in my house).Today we're sharing:-What makes a film an "winter movie"-Our Top 10 (really a loose 11 or 12) favorite picks-Lots of opinion and rationale-Sarah's inspiring Little JoyPlus I've curated a best-of playlist from these film's soundtracks to take your ears on a magical winter journey. For the complete show notes, click here!Site: annaperkinsmusic.com/lifeonthebrinkSocial: @anna_on_the_keys

Morning everyone and welcome to another episode of the Reel Film Nerds podcast! Winter Movie-pocalypse 2018 is upon us and your hosts start it out with Clint Eastwood’s latest masterwork The Mule (2018). Mysterious Mike and Mean Matt do get off topic a bit in this pod, but it is hard to talk about Clint Eastwood and not about Westerns. Topics today include That’s What She Said, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Deadwood. The Mule (2018) is another stellar film from one of our acting and directing greats. The casting is spot on, the story is incredible, and Clint Eastwood’s performance is one for the books. Mike loved The Mule (2018) and thinks everyone should watch it but seeing it in the theater is not a must. Matt agrees it was an incredible film, but he compares it to some of Eastwood’s other great films and feels it falls a tiny bit short of them. They both award The Mule (2018) with 4 out of 5 Reels. This Thursday the guys continue Winter Movie-pocalypse 2018 with another new podcast review of a film that was released this past weekend, Mortal Engines. Spoiler Alert for the podcast and the movie, it is crap! Seriously don’t see this film but do listen to our podcast. Mike comes out of his shell a bit and just tears this movie apart. We saw a lot of movies over the winter break, and also Blain grew a beard, so we've decided to release a bonus episode in which we discuss both of these topics. Some of the films we chat about include Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Promised Land, The Hobbit, This is 40, Life of Pi (aka Calvin and Hobbes: the Movie), Hitchcock, Argo, Wreck-it-Ralph, and more! Plus we talk a lot about Jonathan Frakes, for some reason. I should also mention, we recorded this episode before the Oscar nominations were announced, so when we mention that the Oscar nominations aren't out yet, that's true, we're not just a bunch of dummies. Please download the episode, or better yet, subscribe on Apple Podcasts! And be sure to follow us on Twitter! We'll be back with a regularly scheduled episode this Thursday!
