Laura and Bernie continue to unravel how Sarah, Bernie's sister, was love bombed and manipulated by Ian Hope from the first direct message he sent her, leading to a pattern of abuse. On one occasion Hope assaulted Sarah with a rolling pin, hospitalizing her for four days. The night Hope murdered Sarah, the police were called but they failed to check Hope's history or take proactive action directed at him. In fact, they didn't even ask his name.   In this episode you'll learn why victim blaming is pervasive and how everything in our language structure and systems is designed to edit the male abuser from the narrative. Bernie shares how he uses Sarah's murder to educate young boys to change their behaviour early on asking questions including: What is sexual violence? What is consent? How many women have been killed by men who gave the reason it was a sex game gone wrong? How many men have been strangled to death by women in similar so-called sex games gone wrong? You will have many lightbulb moments.   Listen, share the episode with people you care about and join the conversation in the Crime Analyst Squad: www.patreon.com/CrimeAnalyst #SarahGosling #HerNameWasSarahGosling #CrimeAnalyst #Expert #Analysis #TrueCrime #Podcast #CoerciveControl #SexualViolence #MaleViolence #IanHope   Clips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElJxUVJ8blw   Sources https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tyne-20547728 https://innovativeenterprise.co.uk/portfolio/domestic-violence-sarahs-legacy/ https://manenough.com/podcast/ https://www.amazon.com/Love-Men-Vision-Mindful-Masculinity/dp/1250196248 https://innovativeenterprise.co.uk/2024/04/16/book-review-for-the-love-of-men-by-liz-plank/  https://cms.barnardos.org.uk/sites/default/files/2022-12/Online-safety%20bill-pornography-children-briefing-dec2022.pdf https://wecantconsenttothis.uk/ https://www.cps.gov.uk/publication/cps-and-equally-ours-research-public-understanding-rape-and-serious-sexual-offences https://www.jacksonkatz.com/   Thank you to the wonderful Crime Analyst Sponsor: Sign up for a one-dollar-per-month trial period at SHOPIFY.com/crimeanalyst     REGISTER For Laura's 2024 Masterclasses: https://shoutout.wix.com/so/b4P5SKknQ?languageTag=en   More Training Info: www.dashriskchecklist.com www.thelaurarichards.com   YouTube, Socials and Website YouTube @crimeanalyst Instagram @crimeanalyst @laurarichards999 Twitter @thecrimeanalyst @laurarichards99 TikTok @crimeanalystpod Website www.crime-analyst.com Leave a Review https://www.crime-analyst.com/reviews/new/ Learn more about your ad choices. With the deeply disturbing rising tide of misogyny, male violence targeting women and girls and femicides, it feels overwhelming and some might feel unfixable. The answer lies with men.  In this new series Laura speaks with male leaders who are taking action & doing something to stop it, starting with Andrew ‘Bernie' Bernard who shares what happened to his sister Sarah Gosling.  Sarah was murdered by Ian Hope on 25 February 2012. Unbelievably, Hope blamed Sarah for her own murder and that was his defence at court. Thankfully, Hope was convicted for murder in 2012. Join Laura and Bernie as they unravel the early warning signs of coercive control and Bernie shares how he uses this to educate boys about coercive control, male entitlement, misogyny and sexism to break the cycle. He asks questions like: What makes a man? Has anyone heard the phrase ‘feminism has gone too far'? Who believes it has? What is feminism? Are men and women equal? Who holds power and value? The answers are mind-blowing. The Sarah Menet Vision of 1979 (Part One & Two) - MUST HEAR AGAIN!! Bar none one of the most amazing and truly relevant programs Tribulation-Now has ever had.  Sister Sarah is an amazing person who had an experience where she was taken to Heaven.  While there, she was not allowed all the way inside, but was given a mighty and supremely detailed vision of the days we are in right now.  The things she saw are all queued up right now and could begin any time. I cannot recommend listening to this show more than once if you can. WE ARE VERY CLOSE.

So what happens when Sarah follows just about every rule in the safety book for women but disappears only for a fellow officer to be accused of her kidnap and murder? A worldwide outcry for help.Ig: @TequilaLimeCrimeTwitter: @TLCthepodSources: https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-who-is-sarah-everard-and-why-are-the-british-angry-at-their-police-force-7227871/https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/14/world/europe/sarah-everard-women-protest.htmlhttps://www.wsj.com/articles/sarah-everard-uk-11615823395https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-56355019https://nypost.com/2021/03/13/cop-charged-with-sarah-everards-murder-makes-first-court-appearance/https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-56404030

Hello hello, and welcome to episode 17 of Life on the Brink! This week I am joined once again by our first-ever returning guest, my sister Sarah, to talk about our favorite movies to watch during the winter season. You may recall our shenanigans in Episode 7 when we discussed our favorite autumnal films, and now we're back with a (much needed, eclectic and cozy) winter edition! This is the time to bundle up on the couch with a hearty meal or big bowl of popcorn and enjoy being inside where it’s warm. This is also the time of year when we’re more likely to indulge in a more cerebral, serious movie, but not without countering it with cozy happy films (at least in my house).Today we're sharing:-What makes a film an "winter movie"-Our Top 10 (really a loose 11 or 12) favorite picks-Lots of opinion and rationale-Sarah's inspiring Little JoyPlus I've curated a best-of playlist from these film's soundtracks to take your ears on a magical winter journey. For the complete show notes, click here!Site: annaperkinsmusic.com/lifeonthebrinkSocial: @anna_on_the_keys

This week on the Sermon, Brother Alex is late. Sister Sarah tells us about her new guy friends dog and how the dog is worried about Sarah during the sex. Brother Dusty & Derek are early risers. They jump out of bed in the morning and clap their hands and welcome the new day. Derek Has trouble adjusting to the time change and his dealings with friends and clients in different timezones. Why is it so goddamn funny when people get hurt? We aren't talking about feeding tubes or anything, but its always a good time to watch someone bust your ass. What hurts worse? The fall or the shot to your pride? Derek listens to early 2000 music and diagnoses it as sad. He then says he loves sad songs. Hence his appreciation for Music sensation, Dusty Grant. Where were you when you first heard Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory"? Jason Ellis loses his job at crappy Serious. He started a podcast and will more than likely do okay with listener support. Do you have shitty internet? We all do save Sister Sarah who is uploading a whopping gig. Dusty runs his business on Cox. Dusty relies on Cox. Dusty needs good Cox. Waking up in SWKS with the smell of one constant cow fart. Potty training is awful, we trade stories about our kids and poop. Just a bunch of poop. Tune in Each week to hear the good word.

This episode I'm talking about the Schoolhouse Rock songs from the 70's! Why do we remember these songs all of these years later? What makes these songs effective teaching tools? I try to answer these questions, and then my sister Sarah, who is a math teacher and is getting a graduate degree in education from Harvard right now, gives us more insight on how these songs can be used as teaching tools! We also end by discussing which songs no longer hold up from the franchise. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nittygrittyofditties/support

Like the screwball comedy and the musical, The Western would seem to be a dead genre. While every so often we get a "revisionist" take, like The Coen Brothers' True Grit or Tarantino's Hateful 8, still the western seems to belong to a by-gone era.  However, the Western being the quintessential American genre, depicting the very origins of American identity, it arguably has more relevancy today than at any other time.  In this episode, Azed and Jay sift through the annals of film history and pluck out their favourite underappreciated Westerns. No Rio Bravo or The Searchers here, these meta-westerns expose the underlying issues of race, class and gender that form the ethos of American "exceptionalism" and the paradoxical idea that history's greatest democracy somehow co-exists with it's oligarchic underpinnings. Films covered in this episode: Jay's Picks: Two Mules for Sister Sarah (1970, d: Don Siegel), Comanche Station (1960, d: Bud Boetticher), Persued (1947, d: Raoul Walsh), The Missouri Breaks (1976, d: Arthur Penn) and Bend of the River (1952, d: Anthony Mann). Azed's picks: The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend (1949,d: Preston Sturges), Forty Guns (1957, d: Samuel Fuller), Little Big Man (1971, d: Arthur Penn), Heaven's Gate (1980, d; Michael Cimino) and The Ox Bow Incident (1947, d: William A. Chase Wild Hearts Podcast: Conversations with women who have created dream businesses and redefining success

This episode was inspired by Kate and Oliver Hudson's podcast Sibling Revelry. I FINALLY got my sister Sarah to come onto the podcast and share her inspiring story of how she went from a chubby kid with low self-worth to now helping women live their best lives.    Sarah has over 11 years of experience being a NICU nurse, she is a Reiki practitioner and a health coach. She tailors her program to each of her clients' needs. Her mission and purpose on this planet is to help inform and guide people to eat and do better by making small and sustainable changes. With continued self-work and self-acceptance, she has learned these tools to help others in their own journey of self-worth and awareness.    In This Episode We Talk About: How Sarah got swindled into becoming a nurse. Her transformation from being a chubby kid. Why she decided to be a health coach and then a Reiki practitioner. Her spiritual journey and how she is healing. How she develops her self worth. Our big awakening during Gabby Bernstein's Spirit Junkie. When she finally felt good enough.  Her health and wellness practices and rituals.  Show Notes:  Sarah Chung's Website Sarah Chung's Instagram Connect with Awaken and Align: If you enjoyed the podcast, please share it.  Subscribe, rate and review the show wherever you get your podcasts. Tonight's special guest is Megan (Meg) Sartor from Queesland, Australia. She and her sister molested by their stepfather, who was prosecuted for her sister while Meg's abuse was never considered.  Later she was assaulted by her maternal grandfather. Her mom didn't want to rock the boat, fearing she'd lose her inheritance. Meg has since gotten "historical justice" which she recommends. "I always knew from such a young age that my family were disappointed or regretted that I came into this world," Megan says, "I can remember my parents treated us kids very differently," she goes on, "I was not loved like a child should be." After her parents divorced her nightmare began. Meg's mother went thru a rebellious stage. She had many boyfriends, and one in particular turned Mega's world upside down. After a period of time grooming her while bathing, he started to be a regular visit to her bedroom late at night. Then he began sexually abusing her at virtually every opportunity, behind her mother's back. "The school knew what was going on," Meg says, "as I had confessed why I felt so sick. I guess Sister Therese Ann and Sister Sarah just didn't know how to deal with it." Her childhood traumas set her up to have a tumultuous and often tragic adulthood, filled with inappropriate relationships, bad decisions and suicide attempts. But she hopes that's behind her. "For now I'm trying to stay positive. I have my ups and downs but with everything I have dealt with and it's all been on my own, Meg writes. "One day I will be able to share a home with my man, maybe have the wedding that I so longed for, the one that I dreamed of as a little girl. One day someone will want me forever."
